"A little to the left... no, no, more to the right, actually." Gira was coaching her mom, Kara Norms and her best friend, Kaci as they hung the banner for Gira's eighteenth birthday party in the dining room of her house. "Aaaand perfect! Looks great, guys." The giant banner read "HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY GIRA" and spanned almost the entire dining room. Her mom had been cooking up a storm all day, making all of her daughter's favorites. Five pizzas, several whole roasted pigs, a giant pot of dinosaur stew, three platters piled high with sandwiches, a giant wok of fried rice and chicken, two dozen cupcakes, and a massive chocolate birthday cake fresh out of the oven.
Looking at the twenty foot long table full of food made the hybrid's stomach growl. She was considerate though, so she would wait for her guests before digging in. On a table in the living room were her presents. So far, there were only two from her mother, one from Kaci, and one from Kaci's mother (who unfortunately couldn't make it), but there would likely be more once the guests started to arrive. The gifts weren't the primary thing for Gira, though. They weren't even really a secondary thing. The presents were more of a tertiary thing in her book. The primary thing was having all of her friends around her on this special day and the secondary thing was, of course, the food. It was a close second, though.
It all certainly smelled amazing and Gira appreciated all of her mom's hard work to make this birthday the best one ever. With the balloons tied up all around the downstairs of the house, the ribbons on the staircase banister, and atmospheric party music playing, everything was set. They were just waiting for the guests now. This birthday also marked a special occasion in more ways than one. She had revealed her hero identity to her mother and received her blessing to keep fighting, so this would be the first time Gira didn't have to hide her power from her. She would also get to meet all the friends she made on her journey. Looking at the guest list, her mother was especially excited to meet Wyntre Cold.
She hadn't spoken to alien royalty in quite some time. Wyntre was especially interesting to the alien culture expert. Her reputation preceded her, Gira guessed. When she first met the ex-Empress, the hybrid had no idea who she was. The hybrid simply considered the Arcosian a good friend now and one of the first names that came to mind when she was writing up the invitations. Gira hoped everyone wasn't too busy to show up. Her sensei, especially. She had asked her mom to make plenty of hamburgers in anticipation of his arrival. If she remembered correctly, they were his favorite. Then there was Pieter, her new Z-Fighter brother in arms.
They had finally started to build a friendship, so Gira definitely wanted to invite him. She wanted to feed him well too after he was so kind to her at the Harborage. Then, of course, there was Pota. He was her sidekick and one of her best friends. He lived right across the street with Kaci, too, so she'd obviously invite him to her eighteenth birthday party. Then, lastly, there was Sai. He had taken her on a couple of dates, so she wanted to pay him back for that. More than that, he made her feel all sorts of feelings she didn't quite understand. It just felt right to invite him. Gira smiled to herself as she watched her mom and best friend put on the finishing touches to the party. This was going to be the best day ever. She just knew it.
Gira's actual birthday is tomorrow, but I wanted to get this thread up now. She will have hand-delivered invitations to Pota, Wyntre Cold, Articho Reville, Pieter Wolfbane, and Sai if you guys are interested in helping Gira celebrate the big 1-8. xD She'd also invite Tulip Waterfield, but I believe you are off-planet currently. If you're not, though and you have time, feel free to join!
