A Whole New Level
((PL:50,541 | M. Weights: ON))
Up until now it had been a relatively average day for the blue-haired Saiyan. He had started the day by flying to his new favorite training spot, the Bamboo forest. Jican had accidentally become infamous around those parts because of his loud and... destructive methods of training. Of course he had no intentions of purposefully ruining the peace of the forest, but he has had a couple of run-ins with some extremely unhappy ninja clans that live in the area.
Regardless, he had been doing his normal reps of firing ki blasts at the abundance of trees when he accidentally missed his target. The stray blast had hit the side of a a nearby cliff, which opened up into a deep cave that had been sealed off. "Wh...what in the world?!", Jican accidentally said out loud. He decided that since had had nothing to lose, he would take a small break off of training and explore this strange new cave.
As it turns out, the "cave" was barely a cave at all. After about forty feet of descent, it opened up into a massive room. It seemed to be the location of a hidden, albeit abandoned and dysfunctional spaceship. "What is this place?", Jican asked himself. He decided to get a closer look of the ship. It's sleek silver and yellow paint job had deteriorated over time, replacing paint with rust and dirt. There did not seem to be a practical way in. Under normal circumstances, the sensors above the door would activate as someone approached it, and the door would open. Unfortunately for Jican, those sensors seemed to be out of power. "Um...hello? Is anyone here?", Jican called out. The only response he heard was his own words bouncing off of the room's walls. "Fine then. In that case...".
Using all of his strength, he attempted to pry the door open. It took him awhile, but he eventually managed to open it. He then began to explore the insides of the ship. Despite its seemingly massive exterior, there were only three rooms inside the ship. The first one seemed to be the living quarters. Jican decided to check the place out to see who or what lived here before him. He found almost nothing. No clothes, no belongings, with the exception of a small diary. He decided to shove it in his pocket and read it only after exploring the rest of the ship.
The second room was obviously the cockpit, as it had a white chair in the middle that blended in with the pearl white floor and a panel full of random (and probably dangerous) things. There were lots of multicolored buttons and switches that had different functions, all of which Jican had no idea what they were. However there was one switch that Jican could understand. One labeled "Emergency Power". He flipped the switch and watched the room flood with a cool white light. The buttons in the cockpit began to light up, but only a little bit. An oddly placed green panel began to light up from the center of the cockpit, and to Jican's surprise it began to speak.
"WELCOME, COMMANDER *BZZZZZT*. WARNING #215: SHIP OPERATING AT 5% EFFICIENCY. BATTERY REPLACEMENT NECESSARY.", the panel said in a female voice. "What?! But I just turned on the emergency power!", Jican exclaimed. It suddenly occured to him that perhaps even the emergency battery was critically low on power. "W-Well do you know where to find another one?!", he asked the panel not expecting it to actually respond. "EMERGENCY BATTERIES ARE LOCATED IN THE GRAVITY TRAINING AREA.", the panel replied. "Gravity...training area?", Jican asked. He turned around to see the only room he had not explored yet, which also happened to be the biggest. It was sealed off from the rest of the ship with a door with no handle, and there was a tilted sign on top with words too faded to actually read.
Since the power was on, Jican's motion was sensed by the sensors above, and the doors opened up into a dark room. "Seems like the power in this room isn't fully on yet...", he noted as there were only a couple of lights on in the area. Other than the two overhead lights, the lone purple panel in the middle of the room was the only source of light. As the Saiyan approached it, it got brighter. "ENTER PASSWORD: ", the panel said. Jican scratched the back of his head in confusion. He shrugged, assuming that he did not need to enter it to find the batteries. He could not have been more wrong. Exactly one minute after Jican had approached the panel, it began to turn from purple to bright red. The machine began to repeat the same words over and over again.
"WARNING. WARNING. WARNING."
"Wh-What in the-?!", Jican thought to himself. Before he could react, he was pulled down to the floor. "I...I'm so heavy all of a sudden? What is this?!". A red siren began to ring on top in the middle of the ceiling as the panels on the walls seemed to move. Underneath their square pattern, small flying drones began to materialize seemingly out of thin air. From the looks of it, they were not there to direct Jican to whichever level of hell the batteries had fallen into. The red spheres that made up their faces began to glow. "Lasers. It haaaad to be lasers.", Jican said to himself. As the robots fired, he managed to roll over enough to avoid their fire by hiding behind a crate filled with Saiyan battle suits. "I-I have to get up...", the Saiyan muttered. He sucked up his chest and tried sitting straight up, but he did not get very far before falling back down.
Jican turned his head around the corner only to find that those laser robots had not magically disappeared like he had hoped. In fact, they had their reticles placed firmly over Jican's forehead. "Dang it!". Again he managed to dodge their lasers using Afterimage, albeit they were much closer to hitting him than before. "Alright, this isn't working. New strategy.", Jican thought as he turned his head to the door. He pointed the palm of his hand towards it as a light blue ki sphere began to materialize in it. "Spirit CANNON!", the Saiyan said as he launched a blast of ki with the same name. To his surprise, the door did not budge. In fact, it actually reflected the ki blast which ended up hitting one of the robots.
"Alright! I mean, that didn't TOTALLY work the way that I wanted it to but progress is progress!", he said in slight victory. He fired more Spirit Cannons at the walls that surrounded him until the entire room looked like a ki pinball machine. One by one, the robots ended up getting hit by these blasts and fell to the floor, where they dissipated into thin air. Once all the robots were gone, the sirens and flashing lights stopped.
((BGM: Silence))
"Woo! It's over...", he said to himself in relief. Despite his victory however, Jican still felt like a ten thousand pound boulder. "Now, why am I still heavy?", he asked himself. He managed to make his way to the panel, where the numbers zero through sixteen were displayed prominently, with the number one having a large circle around it. That was when he figured out what gravity training actually was. "...So THAT'S what the computer meant by gravity training!", Jican said. The more he thought about it, the more genius the idea of gravity training was. If someone had reached the zenith of training while under normal conditions, then the only way to improve was to train in conditions where everything was against you. Even gravity. Just the mentioning of the idea forced Jican to grin. "I-I I gotta go tell Chai about this! And Pracross! And S-...". He stopped himself before he started. The smile that was once there had vanished. "...he's gone Jican. Get over it already.", the Saiyan said to himself. "You have to. For his sake.". After calming down a little bit, Jican decided to turn the gravity back on again.
He had some work to do.
