Satan City's brand new Harfest Fair brought out all of the neighborhood freaks in all the best ways. Lawns became graveyards, fake corpses dangled from trees and cobwebs spanned every doorway. As late into the autumn as the Earth was, the leaves were either loose on the ground or hanging by the loosest of threads on the twisted trees arcing over the roads. Many whirled on the closed off-streets of the city, traffic paved away for all sorts of festive attractions, rides, and vendors.
Capper wasn't sure why he bothered traversing through the festival grounds. It was a good shortcut to the desolate paths leading to the ever so familiar Spinach Wastes. Part of the grown, five-foot-ten saiyan wanted to care about this festival- he wanted to have some fun. But he just... Wasn't excited or anything. He didn't care. Oh well- at least he had some space away from Corza for now. Though the fact that he was isolating himself from even his family was a huge red flag, even to Capper himself.
The saiyan sighed, sitting down at a table just a ways away from a Harfesty cafe. In the shaggy grass that wet's the man's feet lie gravestones and severed body parts, a hand and a foot. Plastic, it seemed. From the doorway a animatronic witch stands shrieking and casting spells as she waves her wand up and down. The front door is open and from the inside comes horror movie music. Nearby poke their heads into the gloom to see a hooded figure with a scythe at the table, gesturing them inside. The costumed children shrug, heading inside to get some treats nonetheless.
Screams are the next thing to catch Capper's attention. Glancing to the side, the saiyan eyed a rollercoaster whipping about on it's tracks, passengers screaming with both terror and excitement. He'd ride it himself if it weren't for his recently risen motion sickness, the excuse-making saiyan concluded. "Ugh..." Capper moaned- his voice much deeper than it was only a month ago- while slumping down and resting his head on the table, shielding his ears from the many noises with open palms...
After only a few minutes of more misery, Capper would barely notice a shadow cast over him, a muffled voice speaking with a questioning tone. While his eyes were shut tight and ears still covered, the messy saiyan would crack open one of his eyes when he felt a shake on his shoulder, a voice becoming more and more clear... "...Capper? Cap! It's me!"
The saiyan's eyes trailed up, eyeing a short, four-foot-ish blonde human female with glasses and spiky hair similar to his own. She wore a greenish tunic and a skin-tight black jumpsuit beneath, coupled with a black belt with a large, golden button in the middle. Saiyan gloves and boots finished the look, coupled with a strange orange helmet in her hands. Despite her previous statement, the saiyan couldn't put a name to a face. "Uhhh... Who are you?" The saiyan questioned, narrowing his eyes with confusion. The woman frowned with a sigh. "...It's Carrol. You and your dad kinda saved my life ages ago, remember?"
"Oh, right. You." Capper remarked with boredom, placing his head back on the table. Carrol frowned, setting her Saiyaman Neo costume's helmet down and eyeing her friend- she hadn't seen Capper in ages, but... He clearly wasn't in a good mood now, was he? "Dude, seriously. Why don't you lighten up a little and let your hair down? I don't know how you got in without a costume, but..." She put a hand to her chin, turning around. There was a costume store nearby just beyond the carnival gates...
She still hadn't owed up to the saiyan for saving his life. Maybe she could get a cool mug for Capper's dad also while she was at it, or have her friend bring them here as well! Oblivious to the truth, Carrol quickly grabbed the saiyan's wrist, yanking him into a standing position. "Look! I'm not gonna let my savior sit around and be miserable." She demanded in a firm tone, a wide-eyed Capper staring back. Before he could get a word out, the saiyan found himself being pulled across the fairgrounds, feet moving on their own at this point. "So, let's get you a costume so you can have some fun, eh? It's your ticket to play all the games and go on the rides here!" Carrol chimed, earning newfound panic from Capper. True, one had to be in costume to attend the festivities, but why would Capper concern himself with that? Why did Carrol care so much? "W-What?! No! I'm not going to stoop low and condone in these poor excuses for Earthling festivities!" Capper retorted, trying to worm his arm free. Carrol's grip only tightened, with Capper now afraid she'd pull his arm right off.
"You are having fun and not being a moping moron, whether you like it or not, clod.""...That's my word."Despite continued childish wining and protesting, Capper eventually found himself slumped against the wall of the costume department. Several children had already questioned what he was for Harfest, which was only met by a tired groan from the grown saiyan. Carrol was occasionally popping out of the depths of the walls of festive clothing, a pile of potential getups for the saiyan-- none of which Capper liked-- piled nearby. Capper slumped into a sitting position, burying his head into his hands out of frustration. "Kais above, why me?" The only thing that could make this worse was more social interaction.
