Name: Axar
Name Pun: Stolen from Maxwell's Demon, a thought experiment regarding a hypothetical violation of the Second Law of Thermodynamics.
Species: Arcosian
Gender: Male
Age: 28
Appearance: As he hails from a minority subdivision of the Changeling population, Axar looks (and feels) much warmer than most of his species. His color pallete includes more oranges and reds along with the white of their natural body armor.
In his Suppressed Form, his natural skin color is a middle-of-the road orange for his arms, neck, feet, and most of his face. The exposed sides of his face are striped red, whereas the exposed parts of his legs and his tail share the same red. His natural body armor in this form manifests as a white, bone-like shell with a dark-orange, glassy center over what would otherwise be a Human ribcage. His armor also wraps around the shoulders and juts outwards from them like long, biological pauldrons. The armoring on his forearms is of a similar style, including the main plating being striped into sections. His knee, shin, and foot armor is much the same. His head is mostly armored as well, including under the chin, with the addition of two black horns pointed out diagonally from either side of his head. Like all Arcosians, he also possesses a matching, wide, glassy stripe from the forehead to the back of the skull.
Axar's True Form takes these general design themes to a much sleeker level. His natural body armor seems to be more sleekly merged with his natural body. His shoulder pauldrons are gone and the extra thickness of his chest created by the armor is also gone. The white portions of his body, while still in the same place, are no more elevated above the rest of his body than his regular skin -- yet retain the same durability benefits. His tail is also notably longer and thicker, which now allows him to use it more regularly in combat.
History: Born on Arcose, twenty-eight years ago, Axar's story thus far lacks the turbulence found in many powerful fighter's lives. He was born to an Arcosian father -- Joole -- who demanded much of him, but never veered into the territory of abusing or traumatizing his child. He was neither overwhelmingly popular or gifted growing up, nor was he painfully slow to develop. Nearly everything about Axar indicated that he would go on to live a below-the-radar life and become no one of major noteworthiness.
What began to change the trajectory of Axar's life was the slow realization of what a minority Axar belonged to. While most of his peers and most of his species outright were of darker and bluer complexions, Axar looked warmer -- and his whole family refelcted that. He was born into the Scorch Clan of Arcosians, whose motto was always, "We burn hot, not cold."
Theese Arcosians rarely ever amounted to anything. Most lived an unremarkable existence and, worse yet in Axar's eyes, seemed more than happy with that. Surrounded by this in his more youthful years, a desire to prove Scorch value and potential slowly became a deeply-seated desire of his. To this end, Axar chose a different path for himself: That of the mercenary, where he could challenge himself against powerful foes in order to grow in strength while also amassing wealth for himself.
Just before his twentieth birthday, Axar took on his first contract -- with subtle resistance from his father -- to hunt down petty criminals that escaped Arcose. They were of the alien variety, some minor race that Axar cared little to learn about, and had escaped the planet. Most of the Arcosians themselves wanted nothing to do with the chore of tracking these two individuals down but still wanted their merchandise returned.
After he tracked them across three star systems, Axar finally cornered them in an abandoned mining outpost, located beneath the surface of a craggy moon, from Arcose's past. After docking with the base's small spaceport, he marched through the entire complex and slaughtered the two men without hesitation.
This efficiency and dedication to his work -- Axar never put any job below him -- earned him a positive reputation and addtional business both. He continued to work across Arcose to help his people and to let them know that the Scorch Clan was underestimated at every turn. More importantly to Axar, he wanted to inspire other members of his minority race to become more ambitious like their Kold cousins.
After just a half-dozen years, Axar made enough of a name for himself that contracts started to roll in from off-world. The Beppans. The Kanassans. The Yardratians. From all across the Core Sector, they called him to complete jobs of gradually growing difficulty. Axar took them all on, no matter how insiginificant or, conversely, dangerous, they seemed.
Throughout these years, his relationship with Joole slowly deteriorated. Unable to convince his father of the value of what he was doing, and unwilling to sit through the painful situation of being looked down upon by the one man whose approval he wanted more than anything else, Axar slowly lost contact. As those years continued their count right up to the number nine, Axar spoke to his father once a year -- only very rarely was it more often than that.
His life took the biggest turn -- for better or for worse, as Axar had yet to realize the magnitude or what the consequences would be -- when his first contract from outside of the Core Sector arrived. The requester hailed from Planet Vegeta, a Saiyan who looked to eliminate their younger brother in order to scrub their record of anything unbecoming prior to a potential promotion. The pay and prestige both -- hunting down a rogue Saiyan proved to be his most noteworthy contract yet -- were beyond any he had been offered before.
Axar accepted the deal without hesitation and called his father before he set his sights on the last known location of the Saiyan man: Earth. Brimming with pride and excitement, he felt eager to tell his father of the great, new opportunity that came his way.
Instead, all he found from his father was fear and uncertainty. He feared for Axar's life, for the consequences of distrubing an independent and powerful Earth, and for what might happen to his business on Arcose if he were to accept a Saiyan's contract. Try as he might -- and tried he did -- Axar failed to convince his father of how great this chance was for him. They ended the conversation bitterly.
With his future career as a mercenary on the line, and his relationship with his father, Axar set off to Earth. If there was, he felt, any job in his life that he could not afford to fail, it was this one.
