The young woman tried to ignore the stabbing pain in her side, as the officer agreed and stepped forward. He raised his rifle and armed the weapon, before shouting orders at the criminals. Tulip saw his other equipment by his side and stepped forward. He made a quip to Tulip and Aspar about the warning being merely a formality, since the trio were sure not to comply. Aspar made a comment about the rifle, hoping the BBA officer was a good shot with it.
“Unload the rifle; it’ll do us no good, and it might end up hurting someone else if it’s discharged in these ruins. These guys are strong enough that bullets aren’t going to hurt them. Use the standard-issue electric baton; those things have enough power to stun any lesser trained ki-user.” The young woman forced the trembling in her limbs to stop, as her gaze traveled from the blood staining her jacket and pants to the opponents standing at the far-end of the alley. She realized that Aspar had taken a step forward and now guarded her place behind the two, A kind gesture, but not necessary here. She saw him gathering his ki in his palm, a focused orb of yellow energy. Good; he has basic control. I’ll let him deal with the fish. Lab-Coat will go to the officer...leaving me with him.
“Aspar, follow behind me. Officer, follow after the two of us. I’m going to separate the three criminals; you’ll take the tall one in the lab coat, Officer. He’s the weakest of the trio, but still strong enough to block a bullet or two with that jacket of his. Aspar, you’ll take the fish. Avoid his electricity; it’ll hinder your ability to focus your ki. And I’ll take the strongest in the group.” Before the other two could argue, the woman shot forward. Blood stained her step as she sprinted forward. Blinding pain ran through her side, as her gaze swept the trio standing at the far-end of the alley. She was looking for any weapons, something that could hurt either of her two companions. A sudden hiss shot through the air by her head, causing the woman to wince and jerk her body to the right. The sudden motion sent waves of agony coursing through her stomach, almost forcing her to her knees. A second projectile shot towards the woman, which she barely caught with both of her hands. It was a silver dollar, warped to the shape of her hand from the force it had been fired with.
The woman forced herself onto her feet, as she forced her ki into overdrive. Ignoring the blood that openly dripped from the metal lodged in her side, the woman began snatching the coins the man in the tuxedo was firing towards the trio, still making her way forward. She couldn’t fall; the hybrid had to separate the trio, ensuring the mission could go through.
When the coins stopped, the woman started to push straight forward, but she stumbled on a loose piece of gravel mere yards from the trio. The lab-coat and fish moved to either side as the man in the tuxedo shot forward, sprinting right at the woman. His fist slammed into her stomach, splattering more blood and causing the woman to sink to her knees. But, as the pain threatened to send her into unconsciousness, the hybrid flicked her hands backwards to either side. Her handfuls of pilfered coins slammed into the two sprinting towards her companions. It picked the lab-coat up and sent him careening into the rubble as the coins almost shot a hole through his overcoat. The fish managed to duck low enough to avoid catching the coins to his lower spine, but it still slammed into his shoulder, sending him into an uncontrolled roll. Both were off-center and near the two she’d intended them to end up with; the officer with the lab-coat and Aspar with the fish man.
“Huh; so you let me punch your injury so you could handicap my two companions. Well, fortunately for me, those two are expendable.” The man changed his fist into a palm, digging it into the area around the rebar. Tulip’s eyes widened in agony, as his motion drove a gasp of agony from her lips. He grinned and pushed her back, before slamming his heel into her side. The woman collapsed onto all fours as his attack shifted the metal in her side. The burning fire in her side was threatening to destroy her reasoning, as the woman took quick, gasping breaths. The tuxedo man looked at his bloody glove and clenched it into a fist. Walking forward, he brought it up and spoke again. “This is where you belong, to be honest. As an illegal immigrant from another planet, you’re less than trash when compared to an ordinary citizen, even if that happens to be a criminal.”
Before she could form an argument, the man’s fist slammed into her skull, sending the woman to her elbows on the ground, He followed that attack up with a heel-drop, slamming her face into the pavement. The man began laughing, as he reached into his pocket. “It was so goddamn easy! It only took five minutes to set up, thirty seconds to perform, and now I get to savor the results! The so-called ‘Monster of the Arena’ is groveling at my feet, just another broken human that crossed our path!”
The man pulled out a small square, before kneeling next to the woman. She struggled to rise to a crouching position, entire body aching from the brutal assault. He pulled his cigarettes from his pocket and pulled one out. Lighting it with a lighter from a different pocket, the man took a long drag of it, before setting the tiny square on the ground in front of the woman. What he said next was inaudible to everyone except the woman. Her eyes widened in shock, as her hands slipped and she fell to the ground again. The tuxedo-man grinned, letting the cigarette fall on the square. It began burning, as he stood up. His ki began building, as the man muttered.
“Just like that man...so abysmally weak. I hope you scream half as much as he-” Before the man could finish, a sharp pain shot through his leg. Falling to one knee, the man glanced towards his other leg. A piece of rebar had just gone through it, fracturing the bone as it went through. Pain registered only a few moments later, as the man screamed in agony. Tulip slowly let her hand drop to her side, as the blood staining her jacket became even darker. The expression on her face was a mix of pain, anger, and loss. Slowly pushing herself onto her feet, her ki began flaring up around her. The man was struggling to pull the rebar out of his leg; but it was slick with blood, only a quarter of it his own. Her hand slowly closed into a fist, as the woman brought her hand up.
“What was that? You said...you killed him?” Her voice was weak, but there was something darker in that tone. Her fist began glowing silver, as the woman waited for the man’s response; either way, she was confident this man wasn’t leaving the alley alive this day.
