An Odd Afternoon in the West Capitol!
A mid afternoon sun cast a long and tired shadow over the cityscape of West Capitol as the weariness of the day set in among its inhabitants, who constantly seemed to find themselves wandering the streets aimlessly running errands like busy worker ants through a nest. Slowly but surely exhausting themselves of energy as the day went on until eventually that evening they would be sure to collapse in piles of frustrated fatigue. Only at that point to fall into dreams of worry and unease planning to the t, every minute detail of the tomorrow that awaited them.
Among all the humid chaos walked Aspar. Not exactly standing out from the crowd, as he bustled his way from one side of the plaza to the other. It wasn’t his usual gig to come into the city like this, but given the lazy heat of the day and a little free time up his sleeve, Aspar couldn’t find anything better to do. Perhaps he’d pick up a new pair of jeans, or maybe even a tank top of sorts, given the weather heating up as of late. Money hadn’t been exactly abundant though either, beyond making his ends meet through a little paid volunteer work at a few shelters on the outskirts of the city, Aspar was struggling to grow his savings sufficiently enough to be able to splurge on leisure. On the odd occasion he would find posters and ads around the plaza that offered money for odd jobs. More often than not they were plucked hastily, almost as quickly as they appeared by those a little more desperate than Aspar.
It didn’t bother him though. He was surviving, and in his books, thriving as of late. Aspar ambled around, taking in all the sights of fresh produce and locally crafted goods before him. Crowds of people would gather eagerly in front of audacious and emphatic shopkeepers all shouting praises of their stock, with big toothy grins and alluring sales pitches. Cheers and laughter would erupt spontaneously around the plaza. A strong but indistinguishable scent wafted through the air as the aromas of various baked, fried and roasted goods mixed among the humidity and sweat of the sprightly masses that consumed them.
As much these sights and sounds amused Aspar and made for an afternoons entertainment, it was at times almost sensory overload. Aspar needed some fresh air. It took a minute or so but Aspar jostled his way out of the congregation of people and found his way over to quieter, less inhabited side street, an alleyway of sorts. The air filling the dark space was slightly musty and tasted stale. Aspar leant back, resting his body against the damp wall behind him and tilted his head up in hopes of absorbing some cleaner air from above. Despite the dark shadows stretching down the alleyway, the blue sky above stood out in stark contrast. Marshmallow like clouds wafted about free of care and the odd flock of birds navigated their way around the big blue. After convincing himself that he had made some sort of difference to the air he was inhaling Aspar felt satisfied and lowered his head from its outstretched position and slouched down slightly more against the wall, blending in with his surroundings. Aspar had thought himself alone in his lingering, but it was quickly apparent this was not the case as a sinister appearing shadow whipped past him hurriedly, sprouting angry murmurs and whispers. Aspar flinched.
He quickly straightened his posture and turned his head to look down the alleyway and identify the moving shadow. From what the young man could make out in the dim light was three men making their way down the side street. Walking, or marching even in a lateral fashion side by side, the middle figure appeared to struggle and even attempted to shout. It became apparent the two outside members had a firm grip on the middle man and were forcefully abducting him for reasons that at this point remained unknown. Aspar kept advantage of them appearing to not take notice of him slouched in the shadows and nimbly stalked the group from a distance, making sure to remain silent and light on foot as not to make his presence known. Eventually the group found there way to the back of the alley, out of sight of the streetside of the plaza. Aspar followed in tow and managed to duck behind a large pile of discarded trash lying messily only a few meters from the altercation about to take place, in order to remain undetected.
“Alright man, you're gonna take a little sleep here for a bit, and we’ll go back and watch your shop for you okay?” the first of the troublemakers sneered as he held his apparent hostage firmly in place against the alley wall.
“Hah, you tell him Bones!” the second trouble maker sniggered, appearing to be the bigger statured man with a surprisingly childish tone of voice.
“No please, I’ll give you some of my stock, free of charge, just don’t hurt me!” begged the third voice, belonging to an apparent shop keeper, much smaller, older and more fragile than his two hostage takers.
Aspar was quick to work out that these two goons planned to put the shop keeper out of commission in order to make off with his inventory back at the plaza. The first offender was a slender but muscled man, appearing to go by the name of bones. He seemed to be the more in charge of the two. His accomplice was the larger man Aspar had heard before, he hadn’t heard this ones name. Remaining in his crouched position Aspar assessed his options, he felt obliged to help the elderly shopkeeper. While he could take the easy route of turning a blind eye, it would be practically impossible to escape from his current close proximity to the lawbreaking duo.
Aspar had decided he would fight. Just how strong would the two crooks be though? It was apparent he didn’t have much time to act. He’d be outnumbered in the fight, maybe if he could distract the two men, the shopkeeper could make a hasty escape?
Would Aspar’s plan succeed, or would fate so have it to allow another individual to intervene, perhaps to aid Aspar, or to even to help the thugs, or to take an entirely different path of action all together? Only time would tell.

Forking through the pamphlet of useless information she’d been given, Tulip sighed in irritation and threw the entire bunch into a nearby trash can. Not through the top like a normal person, but tearing a hole through the metal side of the dumpster in her sheer irritation at the long process. Due to the length of time it’d spent in the cold, her precious black pager had broken. Despite taking it to the Western Capitol’s best technology experts, they had simply told the woman it was too old to fix, and to instead by a new cellphone. They’d finally convinced the hybrid to purchase their oldest, but most reliable, phone in stock, a tiny Bokia cell. It was said to be resistant to over 70 tons worth of pressure, capable of being fully submerged for weeks, and frozen in liquid nitrogen. “ This phone will outlive you!” was the slogan, hilariously enough. Pulling the small cell out of her pocket, the woman tried to dial the only number she had on the device. After a short pause, she heard the same, disheartening message as the dozen times before. “My apologies; this is Alex Wright, unable to answer the phone right now. If this is a BBA call, please use my work number; if personal, wait for the beep.” Not waiting for the beep, the young woman hung the phone up angrily. She continued walking down the street, trying to clear her head. A sudden shout caused her to glance back, before realizing quickly what had happened; two officers were pointing towards the damaged dumpster, and a few onlookers were pointing in her direction. Just what I needed! Turning around, the woman closed her eyes and kindled her inner-ki. As her power spiked, she shot forward, weaving through the crowd into a side-street, before entering an alley even further in. To the onlookers, a sudden gust had passed through the crowd; the crazy lady who had thrown a tech booklet through a garbage can was nowhere to be seen. Letting her ki disperse, the woman walked through the alley, muttering under her breath. That changed when she saw a young man crouched behind a pile of trash. “Oi, are you peeping on someone else? That’s rude.” The woman’s gaze traveled upwards, to the trio against the far wall. Her eyes widened as she quickly saw what was happening. She would motion for the younger man behind the trash to get up, before stepping forward. Raising both of her hands, the woman spoke softly but firmly. “You two threatening that old man; please cease and desist, before my companion and I are forced to make you regret ever life decision that led you to this point in life. I’ll only warn you once.”

Aspar felt the milliseconds trickle by as he remained crouched, as if time itself had detected the precious urgency of the situation and come almost to a screeching halt. A million thoughts raced through Aspar’s mind but none seemed to materialise into action and the young man felt frozen on the spot. He was determined to rise and put a stop to the thugs threatening the elderly man’s life but worry swirled in his stomach and clouded his judgement. How strong were he’s adversaries? Perhaps jumping up trying to save the day would lead to not only the old man’s demise but Aspar’s own? It was these thoughts that held him in place, still hidden. Yet what good would remaining hidden achieve if another human being was to lose his life before Aspar’s very eyes?
Just as a sufficient level of courage had built up in Aspar and he finally felt brave enough to take a stand and reveal his presence, another entered the fray, somewhat unknowingly. A woman, seemingly slightly older in appearance than Aspar, though this was hard to tell, had appeared. Small in stature she approached the scene somewhat casually. Her gaze quickly met with Aspar’s own.
“Oi, are you peeping on someone else? That’s rude.”
Slightly aghast, Aspar was at a loss for words at this stage. He rose to his feet unsteadily, not sure whether to explain himself or simply to spring into action and come to the shopkeepers aid. As Aspar faced the new arrival to the situation he saw her gaze shift to the thugs and their victim. Figuring introductions could be spared for the moment, Aspar turned as if he knew what he was doing. Before he could say or do anything else, the young woman took the lead. “You two threatening that old man; please cease and desist, before my companion and I are forced to make you regret ever life decision that led you to this point in life. I’ll only warn you once.”
Aspar noted the seriousness in her voice. For someone small in stature, she seemed rather assertive and sure of herself. Aspar couldn't decide whether this woman was incredibly strong and justified in her straightforward approach, or simply incredibly good at bluffing. Either way Aspar wasn’t about to take a backseat, he stood firmly besides the woman and awaited for the thugs response.
“Eh? The hell is this?” questioned the man going by the alias of Bones. Still with the old man in his grips, he kept one hand strongly grasped to the robes of the shopkeeper.
“Help me!” the old man exasperatingly gasped out of what could only be described as fear in it’s most pure and instinctive form. His sullen old eyes reaching out to Aspar and Tulip, begging for their aid.
“Shut it! Slug, hold this old fool!” Bones would spit, giving the elderly shopkeeper a swift jab to the gut, producing a feeble groan, before handing him over to his accomplice that could now be identified as ‘Slug’.
Slug chuckled in childish glee and gripped the old man in his evidently sweaty and pink hued hands.
“Threatening him?” Bones began, now able to move several feet closer to both Aspar and Tulip. “Oh no, we weren’t threatening him. We were just having a little discussion, just the three of us, until you two came along. Don’t you know it’s rude to eavesdrop on people like that? Now before you waste any more of your breath, I’m telling you now that you and your friend aren’t going to ‘force’ us to do anything. I don’t take kindly to ‘warnings’ either, so if we’re going to do things that way then by all means give me your best shot girly!”
The muscular framed man snarled and twisted his words like a dog growling and grunting as if restrained by it’s chain. He confidently continued on his way over to Tulip and simultaneously went through the process of cracking the various joints of his body including his fingers, neck and arms, seemingly preparing for battle.
Bones now within striking distance, launched off into the air with a spectacular leap and dived at Tulip with a fierce right fist.
Aspar had reacted quickly and saw his chance, moving quickly to the side and out of the way of Bones. In the few retrospective seconds following this Aspar regretted not protecting the small woman, though he decided that whether she was bluffing her confidence or not, now was the time to play that bluff. This would provide a perfect opportunity for Aspar to swoop in a grab the old timer.
He moved off his mark, nimbly leaping over the pile of garbage he only seconds ago had hid behind, surely there was a metaphor to be made in style of ‘overcoming’ his fear but now was not the time, nor the place. He quickly approached the beefier man known as Slug and had to quickly devise a plan to free the old man.
Slug had been taken aback by the sudden turn of events and stumbled awkwardly backwards as he watched Aspar sprint in menacingly, preparing his assault.

As the taller thug turned towards the woman and questioned her. His fist was still wrapped around the old man’s shirt. The old man begged for Tulip’s help, before the taller thug slammed his fist into the old man’s stomach. Seeing the pain and hearing the gasp of agony from the old man made the woman’s teeth grind in rage. The huge man shoved the old man to his partner, a thinner man named ‘Slug’. The woman’s rage was slowly building, as the huge man began walking slowly towards the woman. He began ranting, all the while cracking his knuckles and limbering his body for battle. Tulip waited for his speech to end, before whispering under her breath. “Trash. That’s what you are. Go, partner!” Her voice rose to a shout, as the young man she’d run into first sprinted at the man called ‘Slug’. Her opponent jumped into the air, bringing one fist forward in a ‘powerful’ right hook. The woman didn’t move, as the huge man barreled towards her, intent on harming the tiny woman and worse. Silver ki would arc through the air around the woman, as she brought one hand up. The huge man, his partner, the young man, and the old man would all hang frozen, as she swatted his fist to one side. His hand bent at an awkward angle from the force of her fingertips, a testament to her rage. It wasn’t anything a visit to the hospital wouldn’t fix; she’d ensure he got a one-way ticket to the emergency room before visiting the jail. As pain and shock began registering on his ugly face, the woman stepped closer. A single hand came up, closing itself midway into a fist. She would lightly tap the man on his chin, ensuring to get the right angle and impact. It wouldn’t even make an audible crack; a specialized impact with the sole purpose of rattling the man’s brain. His eyes would roll back in the same instant as all consciousness left his body. Reopening her fist, she would catch the huge man on her palm. Hefting him up, she would toss him to one side into the brick wall. As he crashed into the ground, her gaze would return to the old man, Slug, and her partner-in-justice, to see what transpired next.

When compared to the other stations he had been at, the western frontier certainly was a lot warmer and humid. It made him dread wearing his uniform to an extent and made him praise the AC even more so than he already did. However, life was one big roller-coaster and this seemed to be one of the low points as he sat in the back of one of the BBA's vehicles as they headed into the West Capitol.
"The humidity is gonna be the end of me," he sighed and glanced outside with a slight chuckle, "i honestly hoped my death would be more glamorous.”
"Heh, welcome to the west,” the driver answered, “you best get used to it, otherwise you’re gonna have a bad time.”
“Yeah, probably,” Artil chuckled, “so, what are you looking out for around here? I would assume there would be some extra security with the amount of wealth in the area.”
“Meh, it ain’t that bad really, we have a few extra patrols but that’s about it. I would advise that you focus on the market place, there are so many people there at this time that thieves can do their deed and vanish into the crowd without notice.”
“Right, i will keep my eyes peeled.”
“Very well, here’s your stop, stay sharp.”
The vehicle pulled over to the side and Artil jumped out alongside a few others. They were near the marketplace now. The air was thick with sweat and various scents from the booths and the sounds of the crowd were so loud they drowned out pretty much everything else. The heat was also intense here, this was gonna be dreadful.
As Artil started to make his patrol of the area he noticed two other officers standing next to a metal dumpster with a hole torn in the side and a dispersing crowd. Maybe it wasn’t going to be so bad after all.
“Excuse me officer, what happened here?” Artil asked as he came closer to the two, saluting them as they turned around, “was there a bomb in the dumpster or something?”
“Not exactly,” one of the two officers trailed, “not sure how to put it. There was this young women who, according to the bystanders, tore out the side of the dumpster. We tried to stop her for confirmation, but then there was a sudden gust of wind and she disappeared before we could give chase.”
Artil nodded, sounded like the perpetrator was using ki but he wasn’t one to make such assumptions. Nevertheless, he wasn’t going to not try and track this fellow down.
“I see… say, you wouldn’t have happened to notice which way she went, would you?” he asked the two officers.
That was when one of the onlookers piped in and pointed in the direction he had felt the wind going. Figuring it was as good a lead as any, Artil thanked the man and ran off in that direction. It might be a wild goose chase, but it was worth it to have something to do other than wander the marketplace.
The search, however, turned out to be in vain. He had searched the nearby surrounding areas, asked around but nothing had come up. He had decided enough was enough and that he wouldn’t be able to justify tracking the perpetrator any further without better leads. As he turned to head back to his post however, he overheard some shouting and out of curiosity decided to look into it. What he found seemed to be a crime that had escalated into a brawl. Not thinking twice about it, Artil reached for his rifle and raised into up to aim as he closed in.
“Alright, hold it right there, ruffians!” he ordered with a stern voice, “what’s going on here?!”

Oblivious at this point to his partners manoeuvres behind him, Aspar continued to close in on his opponent. His first priority would be to free the old man from the grasps of the beefy man in order to give the shopkeeper a means to escape at least, then Aspar would be forced to keep Slug occupied for a while no doubt. He hoped his partner would also be managing the same at this point though he would first have to manage his own troubles before worrying about another’s.
Rushing in, Aspar launched himself through the air at Slug who stood frozen in place, seemingly stunned at the quick paced assault. Extending one of his legs through the air and bracing the rest of his body for impact he landed a heavy kick to the arm Slug employed to hold the old man in place. The resulting force released Slug’s grip and freed his captive. Almost as quickly as he had arrive to launch his offensive, Aspar followed through with his kick and landed in place now behind Slug. Pausing for a moment allowing his present company to register what had just transpired, Aspar then turned to the shopkeeper and didn’t waste time in offering him a little friendly advice.
“You need to get out of here!”
“Oowww, you little brat!” Slug cried out in pain, gingerly holding the wrist the teenager had only moments ago struck. “You’re not going anywhere!”, the chubby crook outstretched his uninjured arm this time and attempted to reclaim the old man as his prisoner once more.
Aspar intervened and delivered a swift chop to Slug’s forearm, hitting his now fruitless attempt at capture away. Sending the offender back into a feeble state of cradling his aching limb.
“Go!” Aspar howled, reinforcing this to the old man who this time heeded his message. He tried to hurry out of the alleyway was but hindered by a limb, grasping his still tender stomach from the earlier assault. Slowly but steadily he was escaping, maybe a minute or two more and the man would be safe and out of harms way.
Aspar now had the time to take the results of his partners actions, it had seemed that she had disposed of the other thug almost too easily. Now it was a two on one at least, which gave Aspar a quiet boost in confidence.
Breaking Aspar out of his thoughts was a loud booming voice, belonging to none other than the man he had fended off the old man moments earlier.
“I’m going to make you pay for that!” Slug roared.
The rotund racketeer stumbled in, somehow off balance, yet still as determined as ever. It seemed that either his embarrassment or anger had clouded his mind and distracted him from the pain inflicted upon him prior to now. He moved in surprisingly quick and swung a hefty right hook. Aspar planted his feet and lifted a palm to ‘catch’ the punch thrown. Upon connecting the punch was stopped in its tracks, though Aspar’s hand still rung a little, not expecting it to hit as hard as it did.
Frustrated at the sight of his attack falling flat, Slug threw again his remaining fist bitterly. Without missing a beat Aspar released the hand that gripped Slug’s first punch and dropped his body low, ducking underneath the second punch. Aspar would rise back up to his regular stature after the attack and step in to deliver his own punch directly to Slug’s sternum, that is, if he wasn’t interrupted by a third party entering the fray.
“Alright, hold it right there, ruffians! What’s going on here?!”
Himself and Slug froze, momentarily halting their scuffle and turning their attention to what appeared to be a Blue Banner Army officer, who had ratted out the commotion unfolding.
Given Aspar’s slight contempt for the Blue Banner Army he chose to remain silent at this point. Seeing the rifle pointed in his direction, Aspar took a step back from Slug and displayed his hands by side palms outwards, showing himself to be unarmed. He glared down at the intruder and awaited for the now strict tension to either dispel itself or ignite spectacularly...

The woman watched as the young man fought the other thug to a standstill, easily countering his blows using fine movements and by reading the flow of battle. Though he wasn’t strong in spirit, with these skills and potential the man had the ability to become something extremely amazing. When he stepped forward to deliver the final blow, the sound of a safety being released echoed through the air. Her emerald gaze shot the side, her arm raising in the same motion. She made the shape of a gun with her index finger and curled her remaining fingers into a fist, as she brought it to bear on the figure standing at the end of the alley. “Alright, hold it right there, ruffians!” As his voice carried through the air, seven silver blades were already forming in the air, sailing in his direction. The woman’s eyes widened in recognition, as the blades created a sonic boom from the speed she fired them at. His words were accented by the crack of the air smashing back in on itself, as all of the blades slammed against the brick building behind the man, dispersing into ki before they could shatter the stone. The woman had barely missed slamming the officer into the wall, which made the young hybrid sigh wearily. “What’s going on here?!” “Just a routine robbery being stopped. Name’s Tulip, member of KAOS. That kid’s in the clear as well.” Letting her hand drop, she pointed a thumb over her shoulder towards the thug and young man. A silver hammer formed in the air behind her, slamming into the stomach of the thug and sending him hurtling towards the wall. He slammed into the brickwork hard enough to shake the dust off the surface. The ugly man fell to the ground, as Tulip pulled her cellphone from her breast pocket. Dialing the operator, the woman grinned and began speaking cheerfully. “Hey! I know I just contacted you about five hours when I got this phone, but I got another report! Yeah, it’s Tulip...uh huh….wait, I’m only supposed to report major incidents? Anything city-level or higher? Or when loss of life is imminent? This wasn’t in the guidelines…” She paused to muse over what the operator was saying, before nodding once. “So...if its a huge threat I need to get serious for, then it needs to be called up. Anything less is a deal with on my own, then file a report at a later time! Understood! I’ll leave the rest of the paperwork for this incident to the officer currently on the scene!” Pointing a hand towards the officer standing with his rifle, the woman motioned for him to come over. She smirked and glanced back towards the other, younger man, before motioning for him as well. “Not bad, kid! In a few months of training, I bet even I could have fun battling you!”

Artil smiled to himself as the various parties froze, but that expression quickly changed to shock as he came under attack by knives. Thankfully they all missed and he held his ground without flinching much. However, he seemed to be be pretty pissed about the whole ordeal as he switched target and pointed his rifle at Tulip. Honestly he wanted to return the favor with a warning shot but, seeing the tension here was so high it likely reached above the sky, he decided against it.
As she revealed herself to be part of KAOS and what had happened here, however, his attitude instantly turned around. "In that case, it's an honor to meet you, ma'am," he answered as he lowered his rifle and saluted her before turning his attention to the two crooks on the floor, winching as the big one of them was hammered into the wall with enough force to kick up dust, "i can see that you've two have the situation under control... not bad. Even then, while i won't issue any punishments, i would recommend you call the police next time. I know, by being part of the KAOS you're my superior, but still, leave this to us. It is what our branch do."
He was then gestured closer by Tulip and so was the civilian. He wasn't told why but, based on the phone conversation, he was guessing she was about to pass it all onto him in regards to paperwork and the clean-up job. "Before you say anything, let me guess," Artil said with a raised hand, "you're about to leave me with the clean-up and paperwork for this entire incident, aren't you? Because in that case i would like to know exactly what happened in here order to file their formal arrest."

“That kid’s in the clear as well.” That was all Aspar needed to hear, as he lowered his hands. Surely the new entrant wouldn’t argue with the young woman, if he had taken note of her ample combat skills. The young woman was quickly identified as a Blue Banner agent by her fellow officer. This didn’t skew Aspar’s perception of her much but he was forever guarded around anyone affiliated with the so called Blue Banner Army. He made his way through the alleyway and collected the beaten shopkeeper on his way through, cradling the elderly man with an arm under his shoulder for support. The two officers appeared to scuffle a little at first but were quick to dissolve any hostility and begin conversing. “Because in that case i would like to know exactly what happened in here order to file their formal arrest.”
Among the the officers chit-chat Aspar made his way over to the meeting with his patient in tow, gently shifting the elderly frame with great care. Giving a thankful nod to the young woman for her help, Aspar was then quick to cut into the conversation. “The job’s not done. Clearly this old man needs help. Did you just expect him to walk himself to the hospital?”
Aspar paused. Letting his initial burst of annoyance pass, he continued. “That would good work back there, I probably wouldn’t have come out as unscathed as I am without your help,” He nodded again to the young woman, “And who knows how long I could have been back there trading blows if you hadn’t come along,” he nodded to the other man. “But the job’s not done, it’s not always about stopping the bad guys as much as it’s about helping the good guys,”. This was beginning to hit a slight personal note but Aspar bit his tongue at this point. Feeling somewhat embarrassed at his unexpected outburst he remained stoic and firm in his words. As much as Aspar felt the urge to declare that it wasn’t personal, deep down he knew it probably was and sticking up for those that needed it was something he believed strongly in. “Before introductions, perhaps you guys should call an ambulance or get some medical assistance for this guy?” he reiterated, staring down the two officers unyieldingly as the elderly man at his shoulder kneeled over, coughing and spluttering. Tenderly Aspar returned the shopkeeper to his feet and gave the officers another condemning glare of blatancy.

The woman nodded in response to the officer’s reaction, wondering partially inside how he knew what she was going to say before she said it. Before Rachel could continue speaking, the woman hung up the phone and turned towards the young man. When he started demanding help for the old man, the woman raised one hand for him to pause. “He’ll be fine; nothing a senzu bean or revitalization tank can’t fix. Besides, the ambulance is already on the way for those two idiots.” She motioned towards the two unconscious victims of her brutal assault. Painting her actions as those of a hero would be wrong; considering she put one of them into a coma and probably tore the stomach lining of the second…’villain’ was looking pretty good right about now. When the younger man started talking about the job not being done until the victims were helped by the winners, the woman smiled softly. If only the world was so kind, kid. But, it’s not bad to have that kind of outlook. When the kid suddenly started speaking again after a short pause, the woman glanced towards the shopkeeper, who was coughing and wheezing suddenly. Tulip started to make a smart retort about having one foot in the grave and it not being her fault, a sudden, piercing smell crossed the air. It was...the smell of tobacco?! Her gaze drifted to one side, as a tall man dressed in a tuxedo walked past the BBA Officer. What terrified the woman most about the man wasn’t his dress or appearance. She could already tell this man was unarmed, but deadlier than anyone standing in this alley, herself included. She was stronger, by a long shot...but this man had fully mastered ki-control, and his presence was zero. And the feeling of death that hung around him marked the man as a trained killer. She wouldn’t have even sensed him, had it not been for her sharp sense of smell. The man pulled the cigarette from his lips and blew out a cloud of smoke. “We had reports you died two months ago in Jingle Village, little miss. Imagine our surprise when we saw you strolling down the street happy as can be, with a cellphone in one hand! So, we decided to honor our boss’s request and see that you’re put six feet under where you belong.” His voice was low but firm, carrying with it a confidence that bothered the woman far more than it should have. Her gaze shot back to the shopkeeper and young man; both were in trouble, as was the BBA Officer. Gritting her teeth, the woman prepared to activate her full potential, in order to wipe the floor with this danger in one shot. As her hands clenched into fists, another voice spoke from beside her. “One man to act as bait, second to serve as the limiter.” Before the woman could punch, the second man grabbed her shoulders. A surge of electricity shot through her body, sending thousands of volts through her nervous system. It would’ve killed a normal person; it left Tulip’s body numb and shocked, while robbing her of the ability to channel her ki. As the woman struggled to get her body to move, the first man began sprinting forward. Bringing one fist back, he planted his feet and swung his entire body into one solid punch. It slammed into Tulip’s face, sending the woman flying down the street. She slammed through the thin wall into the crumbling building behind it. “That’s not to say I’m just bait; I’m stronger than the limiter.” The tuxedo man cracked his knuckles and started walking forward. His partner stepped from the shadows next to him, revealing itself to be a Fish Zoan of some sort. The two stopped past the shopkeeper and the Tuxedo Man spoke again. “She’s not moving; do it.” Tulip had passed through a concrete beam before striking the second and hitting a metal support column. Her body still trembled from the aftershock of the ki-enhanced taser she’d been hit by; it was a miracle she was starting to move already. Reorienting herself with the layout of the world, the woman realized she was currently lodged upside down in a concrete pillar, back against the metal center. Her gaze traveled towards the hole she had passed through. I need to get out; I have to help them...fuck! How did I let my guard down that much! Forcing her body to move, the woman growled in frustration and thrust one arm forward. Swinging it back, she broke the concrete and fell out onto the ground. Slowly rising to her feet, the woman took a slow breath and started walking forward. A sudden beeping caught her ear and her gaze traveled the room she was standing in. Her emerald eyes widened in shock as sweat began beading across her brow. You’ve gotta be shitting m- “With pleasure!” A third man stepped out of the alley in front of the other two. This one was dressed in a grimy lab-coat, remoted clutched in his hand. He skipped merrily up to his companions, dancing a weird little jig. Pressing the blinking red button with a smirk, the man grinned and whispered. “Boom~!” Every single floor of the building Tulip had been punched into exploded outwards, sending a blast of wind and dust down the alley. The building collapsed in on itself, turning to rubble in short moments. The trio had turned away before the explosion, all of them pulling out sunglasses at the same time. Striding back down the alley, the Tuxedo Man spoke to the three still conscious people in the alley. “ If you know what’s good for you, you saw nothing today. Got it?”

Artil couldn't help but smile to himself as Tulip nodded to him, it would seem he had guessed correctly. Now it was time to his job. "Don't worry, ma'am, i'm a professional." That was when he looked at the shop keeper, as Aspar drew attention to him. Indeed they also had to make sure the victim was alright, but first the culprits had to post no threat, granted that was very much the case already. "I hear you kid, i'll make sure to call for an ambulance as soon as possible," he assured the young man and reached for his radio to do just that. As he was just about to speak however, a man in a tuxedo pushed past him and went straight for Tulip.
The man's words were unnerving to say the least and only helped by the low, firm voice of the speaker. In response to this Artil carefully clicked the safety off on his rifle but kept it lowered for now. He needed to see if this could be solved peacefully, though it was nothing more than a pipe-dream and he knew it. It was all confirmed when another assailant entered the match and the one in the penguin-suit launched a frontal assault that sent the KAOS girl flying back into a building further down the street. The sheer force of the punch made Artil actively take a step back and raise his rifle on instinct. "Fre- freeze, right this instant!!" he was about to order, but his order was drowned out as a third person entered the alleyway and proceeded to detonate bombs in the building Tulip had been sent flying into, reducing it to rubble.
The three men then turned around, put on their sunglasses and walked towards the alleyway's opening, telling Artil, Aspar and the shop-owner that they saw nothing before leaving. "Fuck... this is bad," Artil sighed before looking at Aspar, "come on, kid, we have to make sure she is alright as well." As he began to run towards the destroyed building he reached for his radio again, "alert alert, this is officer Barae reporting in. We had an explosion in the city, KAOS operative Tulip was caught in it, i repeat, KAOS operative Tulip was caught in the epicenter! There was also an attempted crime nearby, two culprits and a victim. The culprits are badly injured and the victim also needs help! Requesting a van for pick up and an ambulance. Over!" He didn't even pay attention to their response, instead he focused on the matter at hand. "Ma'am, are you alright?! Ma'am, ma'am!?"

“He’ll be fine; nothing a senzu bean or revitalization tank can’t fix. Besides, the ambulance is already on the way for those two idiots.”
Tulip’s response helped ease Aspar’s discontent. He wasn’t ever one to generalise, but throughout his lifetime that’s what he had come to learn with the Blue Banner Army. They had always typically seemed far too pre-programmed in their undertakings for his liking. Objectively handling situations via protocols and procedures. Once the job was done, it was time to move onto the next objective. In the eyes of some, this is what they admired about the Blue Banner Army. Not in Aspars. Now was not the time however for such resentful thoughts. Besides, it seemed like these Agents were a little out of the ordinary. "I hear you kid, I'll make sure to call for an ambulance as soon as possible,”
Aspar nodded to the male officer in affirmation, gladly watching him reach down and draw his radio, ready to make the call. This however was interrupted by a tall dark figure entering the scene, barging his way into the trio’s conversation. A thick, billowing shroud of foul smelling smoke followed him and wrapped it’s way around the present company. Aspar took a slight step back with the old man still in his grasps, right now he was his main priority and he’d already dealt with enough devilry for one day to risk more with the new arrival. “We had reports you died two months ago in Jingle Village, little miss. Imagine our surprise when we saw you strolling down the street happy as can be, with a cellphone in one hand! So, we decided to honor our boss’s request and see that you’re put six feet under where you belong.”
This new arrival spoke directly to Tulip. He voice was austere yet somewhat presumptuous, as he glared down at Tulip, who in contrast appeared rather apprehensive at the man’s sudden appearance. Aspar hadn’t the faintest clue of what had occurred at Jingle Village, but by the sounds of things, something wasn’t right. He noticed the other Blue Banner officer releasing safety on his rifle, perhaps things were about to get dicey again. Aspar moved back further now, removing himself from the conversation, seemingly unnoticed by the mysterious man, escaping the rank entrapment of smoke. He carefully placed the barely conscious shopkeeper down against the alley wall, a safe distance away from the others. Hearing a loud crack quickly drew Aspar’s attention back to the others. He turned quickly on the spot and saw that the young woman had been thumped spectacularly back all the way down the alleyway and into a nearby building. Dramatically shredding through the outer layer of the wall, Tulip disappeared from view as dust and rubble rose slowly into the air. It seemed another had emerged to aid the unknown man, this one fish like in appearance, dressed similarly in a well tailored tuxedo. Aspar froze again once more as he had originally back behind the trash, in some sort of stunned bemusement, slowly processing the events that had just transpired in front of him. The remaining officer rose his rifle to men, threatening them, though they took no notice and simply continued to collude among themselves. Unable to decide whether he should run or stay and fight it didn’t matter as there wouldn’t be time for Aspar to make a decision, as he heard the tall man utter to a third figure in the shadows. “She’s not moving; do it.”
On cue with these words, a thin figure showed himself, dressed in some sort of lab coat that had clearly seen better days. He teetered out into the dim light of the alleyway with some sort of remote control clenched in his hands. Aspar began to connect the dots at what fate was about to befall the young lady. Although no amount of quick thinking could have altered what happened next. With a simple click, the third man jammed his finger down onto the switch of the remote control and instantly the building containing Tulip, exploded. Shockwaves radiated down the alleyway. Aspar watched as the supports of the building collapsed and it’s insides burst outwards. Dust and debris filled the air. It was chaos. Aspar was forced back against the alleyway wall, his arms up around his face to shield him from the now polluted air. He glanced up for a few seconds to see the trio of mysterious men forbiddingly leave the scene, before the contents of the air reached him again forcing out a series of raspy coughs. Eventually Aspar came to his senses once more, whether seconds or minutes had passed at this point, Aspar couldn't tell. Dust still lingered in the air, but he could make out the alleyway now. His attention turned to those around him. The female officer was nowhere to be seen, obviously. The old shopkeeper was knocked down onto the ground, not moving, though Aspar could see his the slight rise in his chest still, he was breathing. The incapacitated crooks, remained, incapacitated. The male officer was the only other member besides Aspar to still be on his feet. He was barking into his radio while simultaneously calling out to Aspar. "Come on, kid, we have to make sure she is alright as well.”
Quickly realising the severity of the situation, Aspar quickly followed suit and dashed after the officer. Running through the events just passed in his head, Aspar struggled to make sense of it all. What the hell had just happened? Who were those men, and what happened in Jingle Village? There was clearly more to be learnt here, but that would come in due time. Right now there were more pressing matters at hand. He sprinted down with the Blue Banner Officer and entered the destroyed building. It was hard to make much sense of anything around him at this point as practically anything and everything in the building had been thrown through the ringer. Either ripped to shreds or blown to bits, the place had been totalled. Aspar heard cries and wailing from the street-side as the explosion had spewed out into the marketplace square. Innocent civilians ran rampant and panicked. That wasn't the concern right now, the whereabouts of the young lady were undoubtedly more important. If she had survived, she surely wouldn't be too far away...

The trio strolled past the officer, two unconscious criminals, and the young man with the shopkeeper. The dust rolled out past them, as the screams of agony and shock reached the men. The tuxedo-wearing man sighed and glared at the weird man in the lab-coat. “I thought my orders were clear, Bastard; drop the building on the woman and pnly the woman. Why did the building explode into the street and market-place?!” “Something must’ve changed in the last twenty minutes, Asshole!” Bastard spoke firmly, without a trace of insanity in his voice. He chuckled to himself, recalling how awesome he looked only a few moments prior. The looks of shock and terror on the faces of the two in the alley was priceless! “We might have a different issue, guys.” The last of the trio, the Eel Zoan, pointed towards an obstacle in their path. The tuxedo-wearing man sighed and smirked, before pulling out a second cigar. “Damn straight, Bitch. This is gonna be round two; I knew that wouldn’t be enough.” “Found you, Elisabeth!” The young boy shouted loudly, pointing at the little girl who was kneeling in the dusty room. She looked up at her friend, tears in her eyes. His smile became a little forced, as he knelt next to the girl. “What’s wrong?” The little, red-haired girl dived forward, hugging the boy. Her voice was full of emotion as she screamed. “I thought you weren’t coming, you dummy! I’ve been hiding here for the last thirty minutes, and something scary was moving around here!” “Something scary? Must’ve been your imagination, Lis!” The young boy was slightly scared by the girl’s speech, but refused to show it as he grinned at her. She shook her head firmly, before grabbing him by the hand. Dragging him towards a room on one side, the girl pointed at something within. There was a soft, electronic tone. Beeping? As the boy stepped into the room, he saw something that made his blood chill. There was a stack of green cases, small in size. The girl grabbed his waist and he could feel her shivering. “Wh-why are they all here, Lis?” “I put them here after the scary thing left. It was saying something about ‘flattening her’. I didn’t know what he meant, but figured if I put them as far away as possible, it would be okay to hide and he wouldn’t find me.” “It’s gonna be fine, Elisabeth. I won’t let the scary guy get us.” The young boy pulled the short girl away from his side and hugged her firmly. There was a slight trembling in his voice, as the boy confirmed his fears through her words. He’d seen this item before, in an educational video online. Those were demolition charges, used to level old and derelict buildings. The girl’s body shifted, as foreboding words let her lips. “Calvin, why’d the lights turn red?” Yanking the girl’s face into his chest, Calvin felt the warmth of the blast as it surged towards him. Even if they died in the next moment, he refused to let the one he loved die while watching her death. Dammi-! Tulip’s lips curled in frustration, as her surroundings turned red. All of the charges activated, as the woman forced her ki to surge to its most powerful. Her ascended state, one step above this, lay just outside of her grasp. Dammit; I’ll have to make this work! Closing her eyes, her senses stretched as far as she could make them. She could visualize every soul within a three-block radius. Thrusting her arms up, she sent an orb of ki through the building into the air far above. The agent began prioritizing every corner of this building. Swords of silver shot downwards, striking the earth on every side and exploding upwards in size. The explosions were already rocketing inwards, as the woman started reinforcing her ki guards around her body. A sudden, slight ki caught her attention; two floors above, in a small room, two tiny ki signatures were about to get crushed! Removing all the ki she’d been gathering to guard herself, the woman thrust it upwards, visualizing a barrier of shields that would surround the ki signatures. She felt her ki almost snap as all of the explosions struck each and every one of her blades. The weight of all that force almost forced her into unconsciousness, right before the rubble from above slammed into her. The boy opened his eyes, before realizing he still held the precious cargo in his arms tightly. Dust covered him and the girl in his arms, but they had both been untouched by the explosion or the rubble from above. Checking the limp girl in his arms, he realized she’d fainted from the terror of death. Slowly rising to his feet, Calvin found a nearby hole in the rubble and emerged into the sunlight. There was evidence the rubble had shifted into the street, but no one was screaming in agony. How did I survive that explosion? How?! Before looking for an answer...I need to get Elisabeth home. With that thought, the boy slid down the edge of the rubble, realizing that, despite the dust covering the street, the rubble had missed burying any of the nearby stalls. For something that had leveled a fifteen story building, the aftermath had been miraculously lenient. As he landed on the ground and ran through the gathering crowd, he recalled a slight silver flash before the explosion. Was...that the reason?
Pain. Sharp, agonizing pain. That’s all I can feel. Tulip’s eyes slowly opened, as she struggled to regain her bearings. Her ki was there, however slight it was. She could feel dust, boulders, and metal weighing down her tiny body. If it hadn’t been for her training with Ryder, that last maneuver would’ve cost the woman her life. Struggling to rise, the woman let out a pained sob as searing agony shot through her side. Reaching down with her dirty hand, the woman realized her side had been pierced by a piece of rebar, rusty iron punching a clean hole through her flesh. Creating a blade of silver, the woman extended the sharp blade backwards. It cut through the rebar, breaking it free of the rubble. It also sent new waves of nerve-wracking fire through the woman, almost wrenching another sob from her throat. Closing her eyes and forcing herself not to punch the ground in reflex, the woman stretched her mental sense outwards. Good, the two signatures escaped. The officer and Aspar avoided the blast along with the shopkeeper and criminals. That’s good. Slowly pushing herself up, the woman felt the rubble and scrap shift off her body. The trio were still in the alley. Stumbling to her feet, the young hybrid realized there was blood running down her chin. It was coming from inside; she had either bitten somewhere inside her mouth, or the damage to her stomach was worse than anticipated. Nothing a senzu can’t fix. With that thought, the woman pushed forward and burst free of the destroyed ruins. Eyes falling on Aspar and the Officer, the woman spit blood off to the side. Almost falling forward, the woman muttered under her breath. “Don’t worry about me and my health, guys. Like you said, Aspar...we have a duty to the good citizens and their lives, to ensure they’re fine. I defended all I could from the aftermath of that attack and minimized the damage. But…” Thrusting one trembling hand forward, four huge blades slammed into the alley, blocking the exit of the three mafia thugs. Running the back of her hand through the blood, the woman muttered. “...we need to ensure these three, who would disregard life so easily, are put behind bars. I’m not in the best shape, so I’ll need the help of both of you.” As if to drive home the point the woman made, blood finally began dripping off the piece of rebar, as her blue jacket was slowly becoming a dark red around the metal piece. The woman took another slow breath, before clenching her fists and preparing to fight.

The area around the destroyed building was nothing short of pure mayhem and chaos. The sounds of panicking and crying people wasn't exactly making it easy for Artil to maintain his concentration and he was very tempted to swap priorities and try to do something to help the civilians. As of right now however, he had to determine if the KAOS operative was alive. Then he would focus on getting this whole mess under control along with the rest of the world police.
Before he could locate her however, she pretty much did that for them by pushing herself free from under the rubble, which was both surprising and a relief to the officer. "Hah, good to see you're not dead yet, ma'am," he said and turned around to survey the area where rapid response crews were starting to show up, "you're right, but still, your logistical value can't be ignored. Regardless, we have to help getting things back under control."
That, however, would have to wait, they had new orders. Glancing back towards Tulip to follow her attack he saw the mafia thugs being cut off from their escape route. She was right, behind bars was where they belonged. "I'll be more than happy to assist you with these mobsters," he assured Tulip and raised his rifle, "we are already talking about charges for causing mass hysteria, attempt at first degree murder and many more i suspect. Not to mention we might have to add 'resisting arrest' to the list very soon." Taking a deep breath to calm his nerves, he took aim and readied himself to fire. "I am only gonna give you this chance once! Surrender and come quietly, enough havoc have been caused to day!" he ordered more out of formality than anything else before looking at the others while making the comment, "it's only a formality. They are not going to listen, i am sure of it."

Carnage and chaos continued to unfold in the background as civilians outside scrambled about like insects in a nest. Busily tending to their wounded companions or making hasty escapes from the developing havoc. Emergency crews had begun to arrive on the scene at last but were yet to make it to the alleyway and were heavily occupied with citizens in the street. Among it all Aspar stood as the last remnants of dust began to fall to the ground. He cautiously moved his way about the devastated building, scanning the area for any signs of his fallen friend. “This whole place has been totalled.” he mumbled across the decrepit room to the still standing Blue Banner Officer. Aspar’s search for the young woman came to an abrupt finish as her presence was announced by her scrambling gingerly out from underneath a pile of wreckage that the blast had deposited. Having sustained a rather grievous stabbing through her torso from a wrought iron reinforcing bar, Aspar was amazed the woman was still able to rise to her feet at this point. She began to address both Aspar and Artilrian, making it clear she intended to stop the perpetrators by materialising several ki formed blades and using them to block their escape. Her and the other officer readied themselves for the fight. Artilrian raised his rifle and took charge of the situation, commanding the thugs at the end of the alleyway to back down. "it's only a formality. They are not going to listen, i am sure of it.”“Yeah I wouldn’t count on it. I hope you’re a sharp shot with that thing,” Aspar replied. He moved across the room to stand next to Artilrian and face the trio. He made sure him and the officer both blocked the path to Tulip, protecting her somewhat. Aspar reached his left arm out to his side and formed a quick orb of yellow ki, ready to fire. He knew these thugs meant business, and no doubt they were adept fighters. They had certainly proved efficient in their hit on Tulip. Aspar simply hoped that the combined forces of his present company and himself would prove enough to overcome these three shady characters.
