The first signs that something was wrong showed weeks before the end, when the seers began to deteriorate, where once solitude and an air of calm ruled. Now a den of raving lunatics sat, screaming of oblivion. Veren, head of The country Qentas’ defenses watched them claw at the windows of the holy sanctum, slurred cries abrasively sloshing from their mouths.
"Of what do they speak Diana? are we to be subjected to war with vallaris across the narrow sea? or perhaps our stores of venmenite are growing unstable?" there was an impatient edge in his voice, of course the seers weren't known to make a fusss like this, but then again he was a stabalist, their sight to him was a joke. "well it's difficult to tell... they aren't coherent, so we'll have to use a scanner," Veren winced, scanners meant they'd have to kill one of them to get the secrets of their mind, a dirty and uncomfortable process for all involved. He turned, a curt movement with a crisp step, looking the young private in the eye. "you know them, which one is most disposable?". Veren's bluntness wasn't serving him well here he thought, a thought enforced by the clearly distraught onlookers who had been observing the two officials.
"Arrakis is the frailest sir." and that's all he needed before going into the chamber and ripping the frontal lobe from a frail, thin man's head and eating it. "what do you see sir?" it took a moment for veren to respond, he had taken the cadence of a man with a burden, "not...quite sure... I see fire, a blasted hellscape, I can understand why he was so distressed, things look horrible, I'm looking for what caused this, hmm, looks to be one of the seafolk? no, no, all wrong, he's short. horns and spikes, but where's the rest? did he do it all? By the gods...." veren collapsed, unable to process what he just saw. and so began the end of the small planet Fentus.
"Welcome back." the walls of consciousness were slick and cold as Veren crawled out of his dream, relief flooded through his head as he saw the face of his elite guard, undoubtedly assembled by the private who awakened him. "Thank you Diana" a glance at the warriors showed a certain ferocity only found in fentusian men, men willing to give up free will for the sake of safety. It brought comfort to Veren's mind, "we will persist," he thought "we are mightier than any foe." As any man of fentus does, he took this moment to regulate himself, and then gingerly turned to the commandos. "centuri, be prepared, in the next days we expect an invasion, it appears to be a foreigner, and one with great power. You are the elite, the planet killers, this threat warrants full unrestricted use of power" that statement got looks and one of the junior soldiers was brash enough to speak, "but sir, that kind of power is difficult to control, the destructive potential is well beyond-" the greenhorn was cut off by a venomous glance. "indeed, this is unusual, but what the seers predicted was our planet reduced to a wasteland, and not by our own hand, if need be, take it off world. Top priority is to stop any invaders, I don't believe I saw the entire picture, expect many"
The next days were blurs of red tape and mobilization, the military giant of qenta was waking up, and such events are seldom quiet, nor are they met with open arms, indeed there were parties which voted against the notion of the guard being fitted with new tech, claiming they would offset the balance between the houses, but such disputes were overruled by the Va-Respenta. Now the city watched the sky. and on the dawn of the sixth day of the second week. The sky fell.
Claxons wailed frantically as a ship pierced through the atmosphere, punching through the clouds like the fist of some vengeful god and planting itself directly in the science district. within seconds the pod was surrounded, Centuri charging themselves for the first of the enemy. The pod door popped open with a whir of hydraulics and out floated a small creature with a business like posture. Feet dangling carefree and hands clasped at the back, two horns protruding from a slightly out of proportion head, it appeared to be wearing some form of mask and armor that gave it a vaguely insectoid air, despite it's obvious reptilian descent.
Celsius looked at the men around him, similar to saiyans or humans save for the blue mottled skin and compound eyes, or at least they would be had they been wholly organic, all of them were heavily augmented for combat, and that made the arcosian salivate. "Hello there, you folk don't strike me as scientists, unfortunately, would one of you happen to be in charge?" His voice was far deeper than expected, although the fentusians were most likely expecting the voice of a child. Veren stepped forward, diplomatic and kurt as always, "You will speak to me." Celsius' head cocked to the left "Lovely, you will give me any technology I find impressive in your civilization, I quite like these implants I see on you and your men, they'll be a fine start." Veren was dumbfounded, to be ordered by a precocious little twirp, obviously he had no sense of who he was dealing with. "Centuri, take out the small fry." With that command the Centuri captain let out a blast calculated to be enough to vaporize the alien and his ship.
"well, I tried to be nice, no one can say I didn't" A beam of royal purple energy lashed from the smoke, turning the captain's head into a fine vapor. "Now I get to do it the fun way" The Centuri unleashed their power, and in a magnificent cataclysm of blue white light, 4 miles of the heart of Qenta was reduced to a blasted crater. In the storm of dust there was an air of calm, an air of victory, one that faded when the outline of the small being persisted in front of them. "what a naughty move, unfortunately you'll have to try better," Celsius unclasped the mask he'd been wearing, " We arcosians are quite powerful, and one such as myself won't be undone by your likes, but worry not, for the changeling won't change to fight you, it's far more sporting this way." At that point he seemed to disappear from sight, the next moment he was unleashing blows at speeds beyond the eyes of the soldiers. The private Diana was lucky, she died quickly, a brash charge at the arcosians back met her with a tail blow that set her head backwards, breaking her neck in at least 4 places. Others were subjected to light blows meant to toy with them, crushing bones to dust, one after another. It didn't take long for the corpses to pile up. Eventually Veren was left looking at a field of his strongest, maimed, broken, the planet killers slaughtered like cattle, how could this be? But no matter, this alien was weaker than Veren it seemed.
"Impressive to so easily dispatch destroyers of such a level, but I think you'll find I'm far above you" Veren allowed his ki to flare. Celsius gave a coy little smile " You know it's funny... the weak always tend to boast their strength" Celsius took the pose of his ancestors, placing one leg before the other and extending his arms to the sides, and let his power flow. "Let's see what you're made of." Veren dashed forward with enough strength to leave a crater, but his speed was simply a still life to the arcosian and every blow he attempted was dodged. "Truly worthless" Celsius delivered a straight punch that sent Veren flying through one of the medical buildings, cracking his sternum. "I....Is that....all you got?" Veren pulled himself out of the buildings wreckage and focused all of his energy in a blue ball "this is a genocide wrecker..... it's been the end of countless enemy houses, you should be honored." Once again the condescending smile was back " I should be honored? let's see it then" The commander snapped "Your smarm won't save you!" and he hurled the blast.
Celsius braced and took the ball, holding it in front of him for a moment, gauging its intensity. "Genocide wrecker, huh, well I guess I need to give you pointers on how to do genocide right." With an uppercut, Celsius sent the ball of energy into the stratosphere to ruin someone's day. Veren dropped to his knees, broken, his eyes fixed on the small apocalypse that gently floated down to him and gave a friendly, even jovial smile. "I know, it's quite disappointing, isn't it, but it's not a total loss. after all, you have those lovely implants that I favor, and yours are of higher quality than the others." Veren took a look at the biotech that his people specialised in, scattered inside his body. "Do you intend to take me as a slave?" The arcosians eyes held no malice or anger, he appeared content,if not condescending, like a teacher dealing with a small child. "Oh no, nothing like that, I have no interest in you, just the tech." Celsius shot his hand out and began methodically tearing every implant from the screaming leader, leaving him a bleeding half blind piece of meat.
The arcosian looked down at the disfigured man, noting the movement of his remaining organic eye. " I'm quite happy that you're still with me. After all, I still have a lesson to teach you don't I? " The calm smile twisted into an expression that revealed decades of sadism, Celsius was about to indulge in ecstasy. Floating into the sky, the arcosian raised a hand, compressing his power and letting it fester all too long, smoldering and growing then finally rushing into the palm of his hand. "Now, fentusian, THIS is how you do genocide!" Celsius unleashed the rich purple light and far below Veren looked up, and became nothing in it, along with the rest of his city.
Celsius looked down on the crater that was once a vibrant metropolis. The plunder was good from that fentusian, but he was a tad stronger than expected, that explosion definitely signaled the other civilized warriors of this planet. It was time to get serious and end things here. Celsius pulled back all of the ki around him and let himself breathe, then he screamed forcing the ki in and through his body, causing a transmutation that was all too familiar, but always nostalgic. Promptly the feeling of burning growth stopped, and he knew he was back to normal. Celsius extended his regal arm, and began to fire blasts, each atomizing a city. Soon, Fentus was dead, blasted and barren and celsius refreshed. Amongst the licking flames, Celsius smiled.
