Hey-Ho Fellow Members of WoD Souls,
So, while writing up some good old posts for the site, I started to indulge in the ever so dangerous pastime of brainstorming. And needing to participate in more open threads with my character, and my love of Kaiju cinema and reading the recent Monster’s Unleashed Marvel event, I thought that there would be a good number of members on site who’d want to fight some giant monsters. But then the more I thought about it, the more I realized why limit it to a single thread. Why make it a small scale side-story a few characters get involved in, when the whole point of these Kaiju stories is to go all-out?
Thus, I suggest a mini-event/saga called MonStars Attack! I’d hope it’d start out mid-April, and maybe have a focus on characters under 100k, just so low-end players can have an event to themselves, but I’m not completely solid on the idea (plus, an all out monster attack would attract some of the stronger beings on the planet). It’d be hosted on Earth, because I feel that’s where most of the player base is (and, honestly, because that’s where my character Jax resides).
So far, that’s all I have. I don’t know who the aliens are. Are they the creation of an evil scientist (maybe we can tie them to a pre-existing faction)? Or are they invaders from another planet/dimension (if so I have an idea on that as well)? There are plenty of ways we can explain the sudden wave of monsters and their intentions. My main concern is how many monsters should there be. Should it be an endless swarm of nameless creatures? Or could we do it so certain players (admins) get to create their own monsters for the event? I’d personally prefer the latter because I’d think that’d lead to better results story-wise, along with being able to give every creature a definite amount of PL and force more players to collaborate to take them down.
So, I leave it open to others on the site now. What do you all think of this concept? Anyone interested and has ideas, or is there a strong opposition to such an event being hosted or objections to any of the ideas mentioned? I honestly think it could be a fun little thing for the site, so I hope this gets the ball potentially rolling.
