(Let's set the mood with some music!)
A haggard demon slams off the ground, skidding several yards before coming to a halt in the upturned ground. The surrounding area is littered with devilish creatures, all battered and bruised. A club-wielding ogre wipes his sweat from his forehead and leans back against a large boulder.
"Huuuuh... These little gnats..." the ogre sighs. The ogre heaves the club over his left shoulder and turns to look at an Arcosian standing over a demon, holding it down with one three-toed foot. "Thanks for the help again."
"Of course," Taiga replies curtly, grinding his foot down on the demon, eliciting a sharp yelp from the creature. "These beasts can't be allowed to have their way of things."
Taiga's crimson eyes raise from the demon to gaze over at the ogre.
"Although, I would have thought the issue dealt with, since I defeated their ringleader." Taiga grunts.
"Well, that was just one of 'em." the ogre sighs again. "Hell's a big place, you know? Bound to be a bunch out there. But you shouldn't worry too much about it; we've gained a handle on them. Should be dealt with in a small while."
"Very well. I'll be on my way then." Taiga nods. He turns away as the ogre waves goodbye, and leaps from the ground. Blood-red ki flares around Taiga's body, thrusting the Arcosian forward into flight. The former soldier looks down at the many thousands of scattered souls as he passes high above. He suddenly stops, a bothersome thought creeping into his mind. How many of these souls belonged to his people? How many could have been soldiers under his command? His brow furrows irritably.
The Saiyans attacked Arcose, to his knowledge unprovoked. In his cowardice, Taiga had fled Arcose to Kanassa, attempting to rally the armies of the Arcosian Empire, only to be followed and tricked. His naivete cost him his life, and likely the lives of every soldier on Kanassa that day. Taiga's hands ball into fists as his mind races, trying to find reason, purpose... anything to justify what had happened. But he just couldn't. The young Arcosian grits his teeth so hard they threaten to break, his body tensing as he slowly raises his fists.
All at once, his Ki explodes around him.
"DAMMIIIIIIIIT!!" the enraged Taiga screams, all of his frustrations, all of his confusion, all of his hate finally spilling out like flames. "WHY?! Why was I so WEAK?!"
"Arcose!! Kanassa!! How many other worlds?!" Taiga's anguish causes the proud being to begin shedding tears, only for the drops to be swept up in the swirling Ki. "How many others died because of me?! Because of the Saiyans?!"
Taiga draws his arms back as he snarls at the landscape of Hell.
"This will not stand!" he bellows to no one, "I will not allow the Arcosian Empire to be ridiculed! I will not allow my legacy to be the downfall of the Empire!!"
Taiga's Ki bursts forth once more, sounding akin to thunder rolling through the skies. In the thunder, the sky... cracks? Taiga does not notice; he bellows in rage, intensifying his lashing Ki. Only when the crack shatters wide does it catch the Arcosian's eye. The swirling Ki dissipates, and Taiga, stupefied, stares at the apparent hole. There was something within, or perhaps beyond? It is difficult to make out, but Taiga thinks he can see the outlines of... buildings? The crack suddenly begins to shrink, as if repairing itself, snapping Taiga out of his bewildered stupor. Wyntre had spoken of passages, secret ways to escape the imprisonment of Hell. He had at first thought hopeful of the notion, but later disregarded it as impossible, even as several others had claimed it to be real.
And yet, here, now, such a passage had opened to him! Without a second thought, Taiga hurtles towards the diminishing hole. Without warning, the crack closes down on the Arcosian in his bid to escape. The young soldier pushes back with his aura, trying to keep the passage open long enough to escape.
"No...! I wont... I wont be denied!!" Taiga roars, forcing his way forward and through the crack, allowing it to shut behind him... Could he truly be free?
Could it be? At last, Taiga's revival!
