IMO the barrier technique can be a little too powerful in its halving effect, particularly if used by characters far weaker than their opponents. I like the idea of being able to use it in team combat, as it has been, but I'm not sure it should be as effective as it is in, say, the current Kings and Queens of Wishful Thinking DE thread. I like how its been deployed--to a point.
I think that the bleedthru-halving effect should take place only if the barrier is within 60% of the attack its intended to block. Maybe, below that, a barrier effect could have a (reduced) impact, say, 25% or lower reduction--or none at all.
What are your thoughts on barriers and a rebalance? Good as-is? Suggested rebalance not good enough? Your own ideas for rebalance?

I agree with you. As soon as I read that barriers get to reduce ALL damage by half I was thinking "OP." Within 60% is fine imo, and below that, they reduce damage by 20%.

I think 60% is fine myself, but perhaps below that there is no reduction? Even 25% is powerful when you take into consideration the idea of multiple barriers being used.

Agree with the suggested changes! Seems a bit more balanced, imo.

Not sure how much my two cents is worth, but I think it's fine, considering you have to charge the Barrier. Still, I could totally understand the logic of a 1000 PL person throwing up a quick block on say, a 100,000 not making very much sense...they'd probably still die anyway, but that shield would get shredded in like, a second. Maybe making halfing Bleedthrough a Varient?

Imma have to agree. Barriers are much too strong in a team v solo scenario. All you need is a 5k PL Guard who knows a barrier to halve the damage of your opponent constantly and you've pretty much won unless the group is all like, 1% of whoever the solo player is. The 5k PL guard works for 1v1's as well.
My gut reaction says we should put barriers at a 60% PL requirement. If it hits that then it halves the incoming attack, if not then it should act as a regular tech.

I am fine with a change. the barriers seem really OP as it is right now.

I think 60% is fine myself, but perhaps below that there is no reduction? Even 25% is powerful when you take into consideration the idea of multiple barriers being used. The simple fix to the other half of this (multiple barriers) is to make it just that multiple barriers do not stack the halving effect.

I mean, the idea (i assume) with halving the damage coming through after the barrier is because it destroyed the barrier and now is destroying the body of the person itself. resulting in an explosion that's far weaker than the original attack. But that's just how I saw it. I don't care either way, tbh.

I didn't think they stacked the halving effect anyway, but yeah. I gotta admit, I think it's a bit silly that a barrier that is about 2% of the power of the attack is somehow able to halve the damage. I kind of have to agree with Bing here, otherwise it's super easy to just sacrifice minions and lolnope a ton of super strong attacks.

I agree barriers are too strong perhaps 25 would be more fair or maybe 20. Or maybe you can't use barriers you cannot use unless it is targeting you?

Well, how about this? Below 60% is a 20% reduction... And then below 40% would be no reduction, which would account for pretty much most of the VERY EARLY GUARDS. But this is me making my very quick idea suggestion

within 60% halves, otherwise it's a 25% reduction
