After interrogating some of the local puffballs, since Abzerute didn't dare try to go for any of those near the pond with actual bodies of their own, he discovered that the currency in this realm of the dead was a substance called Shoki... and this same currency was also a form of spiritual power as well. Of course, he'd been apparently gathering Shoki the entire time he'd been in this realm without even realising it which was intriguing to the dead Arcosian.
He wondered now what would occur if he were to try those meditation techniques he'd heard of in life, and rumours of in death. Would it accelerate his rate of Shoki collection? Or would it simply give him a form of respite. Whatever the case was, he had to acquire more of this Shoki as swiftly as he could if he was going to attain his new body from the Namekian, or the mountain witch. Whichever came first.
So after finding a relatively quiet spot, the puffball that was Abzerute, former Emperor of the Arcosian Empire, sat down as best he could in this cloud like state of being and began to try and meditate. As he sat there, he observed several fools with bodies trying to take something from a nearby tree that was guarded by two of the... staff he supposed. The Ogres, or Oni, or whatever they wished to call themselves were a very strange set of beings, ones that the former Emperor was glad did not exist in the Living Realm.
Whilst they were demonstrably powerful in a physical sense, they seemed to lack anything resembling intelligence. No doubt spending eternity down here in the pits of Hell, or lounging around in the upper crusts of Heaven had served to dull their senses, making them lethargic in their thoughts. Whilst he did wonder what was so interesting about that tree, in his experience it was perhaps to leave anything concerning trees and magic alone, and so he resumed attempting this meditation technique in order to draw in more of the latent Shoki surrounding them.
