Continuation from here: [ X ]Onihime Ketsu Noxa, herself, slept for just about as long as she could. It was because of her desire to laze about that she wasn’t entirely sure if she was happy or annoyed at the fact that she actually got a handful of applicants that day. Despite the cold, quite a few people braved the chill to join — or, rather, try to join — the Noxa Force. At every turn that Noxa was awoken, she was always a bit annoyed at first. This time, however, she seemed to be really deep into her sleep, the dark shades meant to be hiding her status having slipped far enough down her nose so that they no longer served their original purpose of concealment.
Unlike the lazy Bio Android he served, Mr. Floofs remained alerted and on guard; he was a sentinel to both his owner and her assets. Despite his fierce loyalty and sense of duty that remained undaunted by weather or the lack of stimuli from this job, his face was that of a happy, panting pup. Mr. Floofs had been sitting beside the stand, watching as the strange-looking woman approached. The pup certainly had taken note of her sleeping at the park for a long time.
It wasn’t until the woman applied and started asking questions that his tail began to sway with anticipation — finally, something to do!
The woman made the mistake of regarding Noxa as all of her questions were asked. By this point, a long line of drool had begun to ooze from Noxa’s open, slightly-snoring mouth, dropping down on her belly and robe.
“ARF!” The pup distracted the human female from her focus on Noxa, translating his barking into something coherent. ‘Welcome, curious female!’ Another yelp escaped the pup as he continued making his canine noises and translating them telepathically, ‘This is the NOXA Force booth! We are a new found military organization! The utmost elite! Our leader, Noxa, single-handedly obliterated the previous Emperor of Arcose, literally shouting his body apart. The Arcosian who then took the helm appointed Noxa as the leader of the military unit!’
Mr. Floofs was incorrect on a few pointings — Noxa hadn’t been appointed leader; she had taken over the Friion Force by her own initiative, as she was dead-set on a position of power that would help keep her above the trivialities that had ensnared her here on Earth for so long. She had wanted to be above the law, and that was the perfect way to go about it. Not for some grand, insidious plan, but simply because she was tired of having to answer to arbitrary rules she never agreed to be subject to in the first place.
However, the pup knew none of these things. He was simply trying to give the funny-smelling woman the answer she sought. The pup got up, his snout moving Noxa’s heavy feet over from the flyers. Her heels gave a hard ‘thump’ against the table, cracking the wood with its weight. The pup’s mouth closed around a portion of the stack, which he then turned to present to the female. The rest of the items left on the table were soon blown away by an unexpected gust, sending a torrent of flyers sweeping down the street and into the park.
‘We are in need of members!’ Mr. Floofs explained, with no physical noise outside of the thumping of his tail to be translated, ‘Miss Red Fur only took control a week or so ago! She wants to train people who prove themselves to be the best — as strong as she is!’

No response came, not from the lounging redhead at least. Whatever ruse the open robed woman looked to pull off with her dark shades and relaxed pose, was ruined now that her shades rested on the tip of her nose. Talk about first impressions. Perhaps Oni’s dishevel appearance was exactly what this “Noxa Force” was looking for. If it wasn’t for the female’s faithful companion, the blonde would have walked away. Thankfully, demon dogs were a bio-androids best friend.
It took the newly awakened human a moment to realize the voice in her head was in fact coming from the furry creature. With his “voice” in her head, the barks and yips he let out faded into the background of the park. Turned slightly to regard the diligent member of the recruitment duo, she only half heard what it was he was trying to tell her.
Onihime not the most focused of individuals, her reality often blended with images and sounds remembered from her less then grounded states. This reminded her of one such experience from several weeks ago. During a night in an alley she recalled overhearing parts of a conversation between a shop owner and a stray cat. It concerned left overs from the dinner service. Now, she understood that wasn’t possible, cats didn’t talk, yet here a dog was communicating with her and that shouldn’t have been possible either. Perhaps it hadn’t been a result of the uppers she took that night.
Snapped out of her daydream by the heavy thud of Noxa’s heel slamming to the wooden stand, she looked to the dog as he scooped up a portion of the fliers in his mouth. Casually she ripped one from the stack, the top portion left in the creatures maw, but the rest provided enough information for her to get the gist of it.
A new organization looking for members, that confirmed by the mutt a moment later. Such groups raised a mixed response for the blonde human. Originally she was thrust into one and used for its goals regardless of her desires. In the end she benefited from it, but not until years of torture and trials molded her into something useful. That same organization though eventually experienced a coup and the woman who took charge was one who treated Onihime with a kind hand instead of a firm one.
That was done now though, in the past and she was on her own. Perhaps this was an opportunity…or a waste of her time. With a click of her tongue she looked to the redhead then back to the dog.
”Is this her? Is this Noxa?” Onihime asked with a motion of her empty hand. ”No offense, but it doesn’t look like you guys are that serious despite how powerful she is. Does that mean members are allowed freedoms of their own?” She questioned further. What these freedoms were, she didn’t specify, but she knew few approved of her hobby. The human was dependable when needed, for the most part, but enjoyed her free time and the journeys that substances could take her own.
With a shift of her shoulders she repositioned her backpack. While she questioned the seriousness of the Noxa Force, she also had yet to walk away. There was interest, but also uncertainty.

Mr. Floofs wasn’t sure how to answer that question. He wasn’t sure that they fit any of the possibilities of ‘serious’ or not. He figured they were somewhere in between. As that pop wondered what answer would be best given he found a voice softly spoken off to his side.
“Mmmm,” The slumbering titan groaned, still with her eyes closed. Noxa had been awoken once her antenna detected the approach of someone thousands of times more powerful than the average human. However, she hadn’t shown signs of that until the moment. Her voice was still mellow, thick, and sweet, like that of someone who wished they could stay as close to that nap-like state as they could. “We’re deadly serious about getting the job done; we’re not very serious about how we go about doing it.” Noxa found herself mumbling.
The woman’s head arched back, her mouth widening as the onset of a yawn began to stretch her features — including her hair, which spread out to all directions, clumping in strands that slowly retracted to their normal position. The meshes that had sunk into the ground to keep her laying back position from falling completely remained where they were. The amazon switched the order in which her legs had been crossed, but finally opened her eyes; black and yellow soon found themselves fixated on the image of the human in front of her.
Noxa’s senses were keen; she could smell that the sweat on the woman’s body was tainted with something — much in the way that a drunk would sweat his toxins. It made the girl unappetizing, but not necessarily unfit for duty.
It also made her interesting; Noxa had found that of the very most interesting set of people she’d met most of them had a tendency to indulge in some kind of activity to an excessive degree. She wasn’t sure if this woman fits the ‘excessive’ part, but she could take a guess from her scent.
The gauntlet-clad right hand moved up, scratching up against Noxa’s cheek. “If you want to pay, advanced training, and good company you can feel free to apply.” Noxa said, “Thems the breaks.”
Between her words was a distinct lack of any kind of emotion outside of laziness — though that could be due to the fact she had just awoken from a light slumber. Even then there was a lack of warmness in tone that could very vaguely suggest that Noxa simply didn’t care about any other facets of the lives of those who applied.
The woman found herself looking down to only now notice a vast majority of her flyers were gone, “Mr. Flo--.” A heavy sigh escaped the woman’s lips, a hand moving up to comb through her hair in a bit of disappointment as she realized what fate her stack of flyers had likely met.
Hideaki, having sensed the way her emotions were saying, found his wears pressing down against his head; his entire expression failing a little bit as a soft whine escaped his throat. Noxa stood up, her feet clicking against he concrete. She moved over to the side of the pup, a fleshy, warm hand meeting up against his fluffy, silky fur. A gentle caress came to him, “Don’t worry about it, big guy. Thanks for keeping watch.”
Mr. Floof’s ears instantly perked up, his expression returning to its brightness. His tail began to swing rather excitedly left and right, thumping violently against Noxa’s leg — every thud sounding like something that would send bones breaking. However, it was beyond clear that these two were far from the average ‘woman with way too much time in her hands’ and ‘her pup’... They were exactly that, but with heaven-piercing tiers of power.
The sleepy amazon continued to let her nails gently rake against the pup’s scalp, giving him a tender scritching massage. This was done in an absent minded fashion, for Noxa found her eyes seldom leaving those of the human woman.
“What do you mean by ‘freedoms of your own’?” Noxa pressed, “I honestly don’t care what you do as long as you show up on time to training, make sure team morale is up, and do what you’re told.”
“What is your name, by the way?”

Whether it was her questions or the way the woman’s heels were unceremoniously dumped to the table, she decided to wake up and participate in the recruitment herself. Despite the relaxed stance she continued to hold even as she awoke, the redhead claimed the force was an effective one. Of course for Onihime it was all words until she saw otherwise. Long ago she learned that strength didn’t always support capability and while this woman was undeniably strong, what she could do with that strength remained in question.
According to the mutt, one of her recent exploits was removing the Emperor of Arcose from his seat. Not much for news and the happenings of the Universe, she was unaware there had been a change in leadership…hell she just found out the planet itself was restored and she wasn’t even sure how. The planet of ice demons was one she never set foot on, the blonde never having been required off world. Earth was her birth place and residence for the entirety of her life.
While the strange gauntlet like hand of Noxa moved to pet her faithful companion, Onihime offered a small unconcerned shrug in response to the woman’s statement concerning “the breaks.” The third thing she often cared little for, company often more of a judgmental nuisance than anything. Training…she was trained in certain arts, most of her skills built for hit and run type jobs, more the assassin than the warrior type. She could likely use more, perhaps a little rusty these days due to inactivity, but the main appeal to the human was the potential pay.
”My main concern would be compensation, but I assume it is adequate for the risk involved.” Onihime guessed, any force likely meant for combat usually offered comparable pay. Risky jobs simply paid more. The blonde needed the money. Her hobby, as enjoyable as it was, was like many pleasures in the world, expensive. Capable of mixing and stabilizing the chemicals herself, she still required the raw materials and with some not exactly legal she had no choice but to pay street value.
Unknown to her, Noxa could smell the chemicals on her likely as well as the demonic canine. It didn’t matter really, the freedoms she brought up herself not something she was ashamed of or tried to hide despite the open distaste people carried for them. If asked she would share…not the drugs themselves, but the information.
”Onihime, a pleasure I am sure.” She offered with a small informal nod to the pair.
”Well, if you don’t care then I will be forward with you.” Onihime said as she slung her backpack off and onto the stand where Noxa’s fliers once sat stacked so nicely. With a thud the apparently heavy sack slapped to the wood stand. It was clearly old, rips and rears along its surface yet it still served its purpose. In several place patches or stitching repaired wholes that ran to deep, but why replace what wasn’t needed?
Oni unzipped the pouch along the side in order to pull out a silver syringe, the rather heavy duty metallic injector military grade and made to be reusable. Through the clear panel on the side a faint blue liquid was visible, its consistency a little thicker than water.
”Have you ever heard of uppers? That is the street name at least. I could give yah the medical name, but it’s more complicated than it’s worth and near impossible to remember. Put simply what they are is a combination of several agents that when mixed provide the user with a hallucinatory experience. It expands the mind in order to push it past normal boundaries.” She explained and while she was likely glorifying it a little, there was a hint of intelligence in the blonde’s words…even if it was wasted on fields such as this.
”To go with it we have downers.” she went on to add as she pulled a darker blue mixture from her pack. ”These give you the opposite, slow things down and let you take in the details of the world without so many distractions. One can be taken to offset the other if for some reason you wanted to be level headed.” She added with a chuckle, the honest mirth a true sign of an addict.
”Lastly and probably most interesting to you, we have these little puppies.” Onihime continued as she pulled a third syringe from her pack. This one contained a dark red liquid. ”This is a more…let’s say…practical upper. It’s designed to enhance your senses and body while keeping your mind clear. It’s what I use to amplify my combat capabilities.” She explained as she set the syringe down on the table next to the other two.
Clearly she didn’t care if others saw, the illegal substances laid out openly on the table. As casually as someone might after explaining different candy canes they carried with them she looked to Noxa. Onihime wasn’t overly honest because she wanted people to trust her; it was because she just really didn’t care what the world thought. The only person’s opinion she cared for was gone and with it any real aspirations for the blonde.
”So, I need to fill out a form or something?” Asked the human as she transitioned. Noxa was allowed to ask anything she wanted of course, the girl in no rush to be anywhere. Or if she decided to disapprove of the girls chosen vice, Onihime was just as prepared to say “fuck off” as she was to sign up.

The virago watched as the plethora of syringes were displayed. Her eyes scanned over them and the different colored contents of the syringes. Noxa wondered what kind of ‘activity’ this was supposed to be, and then it finally clicked.
“You’re one of those diabetic people, huh?” she wondered, “Well, don’t worry; I don’t care about what you have to do — I mean it. As long as you show up on time when you’re called and can be punctual and responsible then you’re free to do what you want.”
That much was true; Noxa wasn’t here to babysit her members — partly because as she recently learned babysitting was a dead end job.
“Anyway, are you ready for your try out if you’re still interested?” Noxa wondered, “Because we should probably get started with it sooner rather than later.” A smug little smirk formed on her lips and soon the Woman found herself crossing her arms, “It’s only a matter of time before my stand is flooded with applicants, don’tcha know?”
Mr. Floofs stood by his side, looking utterly unimpressed; he had been here for the better part of the morning and was still to see a serious applicant. For once, his innocent, lazy, panting demeanor was broken, only to be replaced by a cynical, disinterested scowl.
Her hands came together for two claps, and by the end of them a floating droid returned by her side. The heart-shaped little devil found itself soon projecting a holographic grid; 3 by 3 squares were laid out on the table, just over the syringes that the junkie had displayed.
“Do you know what tic tac toe is?” Questioned the red head, “Because that’s the first little test in the tryout.” She said, “It’s not that hard to understand, basically you want to get three little symbols in a row. I’ve got Xs, you can be the Os.”
The woman would then go on to tap the furthest left side of the grid, causing a glowing blue X to pop up. [ ][ ][ ] [ ][ ][ ] [X][ ][ ]

“You’re one of those diabetic people, huh?”
What? Onihime thought she just explained what the syringes included quite clearly. She wasn’t about to mock the woman openly for her clear misunderstanding of the drugs, but all she could think was this was one of the people in charge of the Noxa Force? Hopefully she wasn’t the one in charge of planning complicated missions…they would be doomed.
Oni chose to focus instead on the end of the woman’s statement that the blonde could do as she pleased as long as it didn’t interfere with her responsibilities. More than fine with that as some of her drugs assisting in those activities, she would see where this went.
Ready for whatever this tryout might be, responded with a casual “sure.” If there was to be some sort of rush (not likely) Onihime didn’t want anything to do with it. Being in the middle of crowd or swallowed up in a line were both situation she preferred to avoid. The only question was what sort of test would this be?
When the virtual tic-tac-toe was presented, surprise wasn’t really the right word for how she felt. Either this red head wasn’t taking this seriously or she was much deeper than she appeared. Familiar with cognitive tests and tests within tests, wondered if that was what this was. Although confused by the choice for tic-tac-toe to be involved at all, she played along. They promised pay and that is what she wanted. Hopefully it wouldn’t turn out to be Monopoly money.
Casually, Onihime reached out to tap the center of the grid.

Even with the explanation of the downers, uppers, and the practical uppers Noxa was a bit too dense to really give much thought beyond assuming the woman had some kind of medical issue that she needed constant injections to ‘fix’; it’s for that reason she simply assumed the girl was diabtic and left it at that.
Fortunately, Noxa didn’t really get much resistance from the human in regards to her comment. Which was a good sign — truth be told Noxa really appreciate the willingness to simply go along with things. That was, after all, one of the primary purposes of the ‘tic tac toe’ test. Not only did it serve as a way to establish that within the NOXA Force one would need to know how to slow down and relax, but also go with the flow and adapt to even the most unexpected situations.
With every tryout the woman planned she attempted to expose the would-be N-forcers to some aspect of the job they sought after.
After Onihime tapped her choice Noxa took her time to respond. She yawned, stretched, and began asking questions.
“So, do you have any experience with combat jobs?” Noxa wondered, well aware of her comment regarding the combat-enhancing capabilities of the uppers, “What did you do? Military? Private business? Bounties?”
Knowing the applicant’s background would help Noxa attempt and gauge what kind of expectation to put on them in regards to following orders and how they go about their business on the field.

Noxa went ahead and place her move down, tapping away at the leftmost top corner of the grid.

”Yeah…they used to be my specialty actually. More along the lines of stealth and assassination though, but ultimately combat was involved. Stealth isn’t always an option, yah know?” Onihime responded casually despite the subject matter. She knew how the law worked and a verbal admission to something with no proof it took place meant no jail time. She could say the very same thing to a cop and while he may be able to take her in (if by some miracle he possessed the strength) there would be nothing to legally keep her. The red head in front of her possessed more power but even less authority on this world as far as the blonde knew, so there was no reason to be dishonest in her answers.
”As for who…it doesn’t matter. The organization doesn’t exist anymore and my one remaining contact has vanished. You could say my time is my own now.” The human almost mumbled as her thoughts momentarily drifted from back to her lost friend. Loss, something that was a huge part of her life yet a subject that only wasted her time. With a blink she easily moved on from any thoughts of the woman she once cared for and refocused on the board. It was clear she needed to place her O between the two X’s, but what was the point? This really couldn’t be a test of her intellect unless the busty woman’s IQ was truly represented by something so childish.
”I do hope if we find a mutual understanding of each other and I do work for you that this group focuses more on combat than espionage or the like. I don’t have the patience for unnecessary tasks like that.” Oni clarified as her finger moved to the top right of the board and placed an O, the symbol so clearly out of place.
