Iris wasn't always a cyborg with cybernetic arms and legs. Before that she had been a college student, working on her degree in Gravitational Mechanical Engineering. During the course of her thesis she looked through several papers including those of Doctor Breech, and his work in android mechanics led her to the idea of constructing her own android. This was partially so she could have a working model for her thesis on how high leveled gravitational fields affected technology, particularly potent given the recent destruction of New Namek by Realigner Red. Could his rampage have been triggered from his artificial brain being affected by gravitational fields far stronger than those found naturally on Earth?
So she interred for a time with Capsule Corporation and had managed to get the limbs for her new android completed, before the Saiyan Invasion occured. Her mind went into a frantic panic as the world around her started to collapse in fire and destruction. She lost her arm to a stray blast from someone, she couldn't see which side it was. But whoever fired the shot didn't matter... what mattered was that she was slowly losing blood. That's when she looked at the new limbs. Iris activated the laboratories automated systems, laid herself down on the assembly table, and let the machines replace her limbs with those of her incomplete androids, becoming the android herself.
Of course before she could get a chance to utilise them, she found herself trapped beneath the machine as the building took an indirect strike from either an Oozaru or an errant missile. She lay there for days, struggling to free herself due to the angle of her new limbs, and the fact they hadn't been properly activated yet. She thought she was going to die there, trapped on an operating table as a lump of meat sandwiched by machines of her own creation... a puppet who's strings had been cut.
Until Zyajin arrived. Since then she's been working for the Bio-Android, applying her knowledge of gravitational fields as well as general mechanical expertise.
