- I honestly can't remember which link I put up in the original discussion thread, so I thought I would go ahead and make up a suggestion thread so that you guys could read through and see if you liked any of these ideas.
- I want to point out again though that I don't know what the formula behind grading is, so it's hard for me to incorporate everything you guys already do but, i'm hoping this will help or at least spur some ideas.
- Also before I begin, I wanted to mention that if I link anything from Fairy Tail Uprising, it's not a member grab. The site currently has 0 active members (cause frankly I haven't advertised much) but I really think the system is a good one that's been worked on by a close friend and myself.
Now, let's start off with the basic Tier construction, I will be using numbers that won't make sense with the current PL system but it's just to get the point across:
With this, you have a way to have everyone in a specific tier that suits their current PL. This could help with your grading modifier as you assign whatever number it is you use to the different classes. Plain and simple and probably already what you guys have talked about.
This leads into tech slots. We had it layed out like this in Fairy Tail;
These jobs, or solo threads, are divided into tiers, just like the one's listed above. You have a set amount of PL assigned to the completion of every solo thread according to their tier, and a minimum word count assigned as well. So for example say...

D Class - C Class: 100 PL
C Class - B Class: 400 PL
B Class - A Class: 1,200 PL
A Class - S Class: 3,200 PL
S-Class - SS Class: 8,000 PL
With this, you have a way to have everyone in a specific tier that suits their current PL. This could help with your grading modifier as you assign whatever number it is you use to the different classes. Plain and simple and probably already what you guys have talked about.
This leads into tech slots. We had it layed out like this in Fairy Tail;
D-Class: 4 D-rank spell slots
C-Class: 4 D-rank spells, 3 C-rank spells
B-Class: 4 D-rank spells, 3 C-rank spells, 3 B-rank
A-Class: 4 D-rank spells, 3 C-rank spells, 3 B-rank spells, 3 A-rank spells
S-Class: 4 D-rank spells, 3 C-rank spells, 3 B-rank spells, 3 A-rank spells, 2 S-rank spells
SS-Class: 4 D-rank spells, 3 C-rank spells, 3 B-rank spells, 3 A-rank spells, 2 S-rank spells, 1 SS-rank spell
However as this site is more linear than that, you could easily just say that a D class has 4 tech slots, C class has 7, B class has 10, A has 13 and so on and so forth as you guys see fit. This I find would also help when it comes to end game characters because I've noticed people can pretty much do ANYTHING they want once their PL is high enough, because they have such an exuberant amount of tech slots to learn stuff. This way, you are limiting it by tier and people need to stay a little more true to their characters instead of having them know things they otherwise wouldn't. (Like if Tomo suddenly learned the kienzan for no apparent reason, I know there are rules but you get my point).
Okay so now, actual threads. I did like the idea discussed that group threads got a slight bonus when grading because you are actually interacting with other players compared to Solo's. So why not have a set PL gain given to those in a group thread that relates to how many other members are involved?
As for Solo's... why not turn those into 'jobs'. 'jobs' is what we would do on fairy tail to increase out jewel(zeni) as well as our EXP (PL).

"Characters will have to do jobs to increase their class level and will receive Jewels(site currency) for completing jobs. Jobs go by Levels the same as spells and Classes do. You will receive a certain amount of Experience Points(EXP) for completing jobs based on their Level and you will need a certain amount to reach the next Class Level. A mage can only do jobs the same Level as their Class Level and lower but can do a job of one Level higher than their Class Level with a mage of their Class Level or higher. You can only have 3 active jobs at any one time and you will have to apply for each job you want to take in that job's thread. After completing a job you will have to post in the job's thread saying that you completed it and post a link to the job so that it can be approved. S-class mages can do 10 year and 100 year jobs whereas other mages cannot. Also members should keep track of their jobs completed with links in their Character Information thread where the staff can see it. This will make things easier for staff to find the jobs you have accomplished so that they can get you started on your exam. You will need to meet all the requirements for a job to complete it which will always involve a word count per post and a post amount for the thread. You can also come up with your own jobs to be approved for you to use. You can make your own job in the job creation forum. Below are charts to show the amount of EXP is given by Job Level and the amount of EXP needed to reach each Class Level. Remember is because you control everything that happens in a job you need to make it believable in how things are going. We are based on an anime/manga so crazy stuff can happen but making sure it makes sense will get you an approved job instead of you having to edit it. This means you should take hits when fighting enemies who are around your class level and you are by no means a god at any point in time. When doing a job with fighting you should keep track of your HP and EP somewhere in each post to help mods who are reviewing it.

These jobs, or solo threads, are divided into tiers, just like the one's listed above. You have a set amount of PL assigned to the completion of every solo thread according to their tier, and a minimum word count assigned as well. So for example say...
D Class solo: Minimum word count: 500 will give you 1,000 PL
C Class solo: Minimum word count: 1000 will give you 1,500 PL
B Class solo: minimum word count: 1500 will give you 2,000 PL
A Class solo: minimum word count: 2000 will give you 2,500 PL
S Class solo: minimum word count: 2500 will give you 3,000 PL
Again the numbers themselves are just examples, but my idea would be to do something like that, and limit the amount of Solo's a player can do per week. Also, the EXP you get from doing a solo as a certain class would NOT change depending on your PL. It doesn't matter if you are at the beginning or end of a tier, you get rewarded the same until you are out of that tier and into the next.
Also... PL gains don't need to be so high in my oppinion... I mean it's great to see yourself level up fast, but holy moly do we ever level up fast. Maybe assign less PL in general to everyone to slow down the amount of time it takes to reach certain Tiers/transformations?
Okay... I think that's all I've got for now regarding PL/Tiers... I mean I could add a whole lot more if you were thinking of looking into changing the way battles are done, but I think that's an entirely new can of worms.
