[Thread PL: 3,765]
Yocho was sitting on the floor, thinking. Usually he didn't do this, but these past few weeks it was different. Something happened. Something big. Except he couldn't remember what it was. He remembered that he had a fight with Zexama, but he didn't remember what happened next. He didn't even remember if he had beaten her, though he was sure he did...
Although that was probably just his pride talking. He still liked to think he was successful though. The last thing he remembered was eating breakfast at the New Turtle School, and then... He was here. In this forest. Alone. Where he'd been staying here for ages. Trying to remember what happened. He was afraid of what would happen if he went back...
But maybe he needed to go back? Yocho had thought about that too. He needed to get closure for it, but... He wasn't ready. Not yet. He wasn't ready to find out that he might never learn the kamehameha wave, that he might never see Rische again. He felt that strongly. Something happened, and he couldn't remember WHAT!
Thinking about that, Yocho punched a tree. What happened that day? Was he a different person than he was before? He hated not knowing.
But today, he wasn't planning to fix his mysterious amnesia. He had been checking the moon for the past few weeks. And tonight it was full. Yocho remembered that the night before he met Zexama, he was "recruited" in a way to an underground fighting club of sorts. Or at least that's what Yocho assumed it was. He didn't know why he was recruited or who they were, and he planned to find out why.
He didn't like what he was planning to do, but if he ran into enough trouble, he was planning to turn into the creature he feared the most. If all else failed, if he could gather no information from the men who captured him, then he was planning to go ape...
...
Or was he? He hated his Saiyan blood, but something told him there were more important things than his hatred right now. While he enjoyed fighting there, he didn't give consent, and he could do better.
Ugh. Yocho was going soft. It must have been the amnesia. It must have been affecting his brain somehow. He never believed in subliminal messages, but how else could he explain the fact that no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't remember anything? Then again, he'd never gotten amnesia before, so he didn't know how the whole thing worked...
But the point was, he didn't want to go to the fight club. And he got the feeling that whoever was in charge wouldn't be so kind if he left to...
To...
To...
Damnit! There had to be a reason why he wanted to leave! To find out the truth. To stop this thing...
Whatever. All this stuff could wait. Right now, it was sunset, and Yocho was hoping today he'd get "picked up" again. So he flew towards the same alleyway he was found in before. He didn't have time to think, though, because as soon as he landed, he was blindfloded and taken back into the car.
"We figured you might come back during the full moon," said one of the men. Yocho recognised the voice as the man who gave him Zeni. "Unfortunately for you, you can't go... Beast..." This was obviously meant as an insult, but Yocho showed no reaction as he had no care for what it was called. All he knew was he didn't like it. "Without seeing the moon, and where you're going, we'll make sure you never see the moon.
Still no reaction from Yocho.
"Get in."
Yocho did as he was told, ready to fight whoever got in his way, and when he got out, he was immediately pushed into the arena (after having his blindfold taken off of course), where he found his opponent waiting...

(Thread PL: 74,103)
Raisu walked through the slums, head held high. He had nothing to fear from those who prowled the slums. He was more than human, far more than human. His Saiyan blood and his own training saw to that. He took a certain pride in being more than human. It was amazing. To be able to walk with confidence where most of the world would not was a wonderful feeling. It made him feel confident, strong. Like no one could stand in his way. Of course, he’d learned that superhumans, monsters, and robots roamed the Earth with impunity. So, he could never be too careful.
Of course, there was something else that put a caution in him, a fear even. It was the fact that the moon would be rising tonight. He’d always feared the moon. He’d been raised to fear it. It was the one warning that his father had left his mother, the only indication that he even cared a little for his son and the mother of his child. Don’t look at the full moon. That was what he’d been told. He had always wondered why. In his youth, he thought that perhaps he would die if he did. Never did he dream it would turn him into a raging beast. Yes, he’d come to learn the truth behind the moon’s curse. And it scared him even more. Raisu had seen the raging apes that the Saiyans became in this form. And he didn’t want to become one. Who knew what destruction he might cause in such a form. That was something he hoped to avoid.
But he continued down the street. Perhaps he should find cover by nightfall. It would be wise. If worst came to worst, he could try and blindfold himself. Raisu rounded a corner and ducked into an alley. A few men were gathered around, smoking cigarettes. They looked up at Raisu, though Raisu could not see their faces because of the fading sun. One stepped closer to Raisu. “I see you have a tail, friend. How would you like to make some money?” Asked the man.
Well, that was direct, thought Raisu. Money was nice. It made the world go round. And it was nice for someone to see his tail and not call him a nasty name. This wasn’t what he had planned for. He’d originally came to the slums on a whim. Just because of simply curiosity, really. But hey, he wasn’t one to turn down an opportunity.
The men whisked him into a car, blindfolding him. Raisu was used to this. And besides, it wasn’t as if the men could harm him. He was confident, arrogant almost. They drove him to a place he did not know and quickly brought him inside, explaining as they went. Apparently it was a fight club. Nice, thought Raisu. He’d done fight clubs before. Though the last time had been months ago. Whoever these guys had, it shouldn’t be hard to win. And then he’d pocket some nice cash.
They ripped the blindfold from his eyes and shoved him into the arena. He looked around. Typical shoddy place, but it would do. His eyes fell on his foe. Another Saiyan? Raisu’s eyes lit up when he saw the tail. Immediately, Raisu’s mind reached out to feel the Saiyan’s power. It was small, but he might be hiding his true power.
“So, you’re my opponent? Good luck,” said Raisu, his voice full of confidence.

Yocho noticed the tail on his opponent.
"So you're a Saiyan, huh." Yocho jumped across the arena, right in front of his opponent. "Hi. I'm Yocho, and I hate you guys." Yocho punched her across the face... Or was it a him? It was really hard to tell with that ponytail... "I'm surprised someone like you is here. All of you guys are monsters! What you did last month..." Yocho wagged his tail a bit.
Yocho scratched his head. You're probably wondering why I'm saying all this when I'm a Saiyan too. Well, uh... I'm not too big on this whole Saiyan empire thing. More like I hate them. So... You know... I'm not going to hold back. And I'm probably gonna kill you. So good luck with that."
As Yocho prepared another punch, he started remembering the dreams, memories, that he had. Why he hated the Saiyans. They had destroyed his life and because of them he knew nothing. And because they hurt him, he would destroy the Saiyan Solar Empire!
Wait...
WHAT?!!!
That was a msitake, right? He didn't mean that, right? Sure, he hated the Saiyans, but to destroy an intergalactic empire? What was he thinking? All he wanted in life was to destroy the turtle hermit and be done with everything! He never knew his family! What did he care about them?!
What happened the day of the fight? Yocho was different than before, but why?!
And during all of this, Yocho relaxed his guard while thinking. He leaned his head back, closed his eyes and looked up. He didn't realise it, but he was now open for attack.

The Saiyan closed the distance between them quite quickly. Raisu was impressed to some degree, but he barely felt the need to react. The guy’s power was barely anything. He even let the Saiyan hit him across the face, a blow that Raisu barely even felt.
“I think you’re outclassed here, guy,” he said, but the Saiyan didn’t seem to be listening. He was ranting now, something about the Saiyan Empire, and how he hated them and so on. And apparently he was going to kill Raisu? This guy wasn’t right in the head, but Raisu could only shake his head and laugh at this guy. Damn. All sorts of crazies out here. What did they have this guy on? Raisu knew that fight clubs treated some of their fighters with illicit goods, trying to keep them happy. Whatever this guy was on was either real good or real bad. Raisu was all for some experimentation, but he’d pass on whatever this guy was using.
The man seemed to be having a moment and Raisu rolled his eyes. Best to end this quick. It was a shame, really. This guy didn’t know he was fighting someone who was over twenty times his strength. Maybe one day they could have a real fight. But for now, he’d make it quick while he had an opening. He dashed at the Saiyan while he had an opening, moving with the blinding speed someone of his caliber had worked towards. Sorry, he thought as he tossed a punch at the Saiyan’s jaw, hoping to drop him with one punch. Hopefully it’d be a clean knockout if the blow connected.

Yocho dropped in one blow. Well, he was supposed to drop in one blow. He actually dropped far back to the other side of the ring. Not because of the strength of the punch, but because he started subtully flying to make it look like he had been knocked back. His opponent still wouldn't know he could fly. He thought back to his first match, where the announcer had explained the rules. You lose if you die or surrender. Well, Yocho wasn't dead yet and he sure wasn't planning to surrender. But the announcer didn't repeat the rules today for some reason. Maybe it was because his opponent had been here before? But from what he saw last week, most of the fighters were aggressive. They were cocky, but they fought their hardest.
This... Person... Was different. Yocho decided to assume it was a boy as his footsteps were incredibly strong and not very nimble. Yocho decided not to take any chances. He played dead for a bit. He listened for footsteps. He heard some. But they were soft and careful, unlike the boy's, who were a lot rougher. It must be someone checking if he was really dead. Suddenly, the footsteps stopped. He waited for the person to check his heartbeat, but he felt nothing. Could someone have known he was alive? How? Yocho then heard the same footsteps walking back to where they came from.
After that, Yocho once again waited for his opponent's footsteps...
...
...
Nothing. In fact, Yocho was sure he heard a yawn. The boy thought he had won! He thought all he needed was a knockout like most places! Ok, this could work in Yocho's favour. Whoever made the decision not to say the rules today might just help him win the match!
Yocho decided to play a game of Granny's Footsteps. Every time his opponent blinked or closed their eyes or turned around, he would move slowly closer to him. He had to focus his ears immensely for this task. It was possible to hear the blinking of the eyelids, but incredibly tough. Of course, there was the chance that his opponent would realise that he was still moving, but by that time, he would already be incredibly close. His opponent seemed like the sort of guy who would wait around until he won, so he was sure the guy would still be standing.
As soon as Yocho heard something that seemed to suggest his opponent realised what he was doing, he'd open his eyes, slide across the floor with incredible speed and kick him in the crotch (he really hoped this guy really was a guy) before the dude even figured out why he was faking being knocked out!
This was going to be fun.

The Saiyan flew back from Raisu’s blow. Raisu felt almost kind of bad for doing it. This kid couldn’t possibly defeat Raisu. Raisu was in another league altogether, at least compared to this guy. Raisu watched the Saiyan for some time. Was it over? Raisu certainly knew he wasn’t dead. Raisu could still feel his ki signature. Perhaps Raisu should have used his ki to end the fight. If he used his Starlight Beam, the boy would have dropped. It would have been impossible for the boy to withstand it. The difference would have just been too great.
Raisu’s mind kept focused on the Saiyan. He blinked on occasion and he felt the Saiyan move closer. What in the world was he doing? Did he think he was clevel? Because he wasn’t. Perhaps it was whatever the boy had in his system addling his mind. Raisu could only laugh as the boy squirmed closer. Raisu almost wanted to walk over to the boy and kick him.. But that would be almost cruel. Raisu wasn’t entirely sure he was dealing with someone who was mentally all there.
And suddenly, as Raisu blinked again, the boy moved with blinding speed. He slid across the floor, his foot high. Did he intend to kick Raisu in the crotch? Well that wouldn’t do. Using his great difference in speed, power and skill, Raisu sidestepped the boy harmlessly. Not today, he thought.
“Trying to fight dirty, huh? You guys have no shame.”
Raisu contemplated letting even a small Starlight Beam go. No, that would end things far too quickly. He was kind of curious as to where this was going. For fun, Raisu let a small ki blast loose with the intent to give the boy a bit of a shock. The yellow orb went flying across the arena.

Yocho looked as his opponent shot a blast across the arena. He found it really strange as Yocho was right next to him. Yocho stood up, his face full of confusion. He looked back as the blast hit one of the audience members. And then Yocho started lauging.
"Did you just... Were you trying to hit me?" Yocho started literally rolling on the floor lauging. "With that punch, I was actually worried for a second there. You shot a blast at the audience. Why would you do that?! I'm right here!" Yocho knew he was open for attack, but... But... Yocho just couldn't stop laughing. How could this guy be so cocky when he couldn't even hit a guy right next to him?
Yocho stood up and walked up to his opponent. He looked straight into his face...
But couldn't keep a straight face himself.
"I bet you couldn't shoot a blast at me if I was right here!" Hopefully, this guy would think that the lauging was stopping Yocho from fighting. But it didn't. As Yocho was speaking, he made hugely exaggerated hand movements, continuously slapping his opponent on the face by "accident". Yocho challenged him to send a blast at Yocho, but with the constant slapping, he doubted he'd be able to focus enough to do anything.
"Hold on a second."
Yocho did a backflip into the audience, and, without the knowledge of his opponent, borrowed a mirror from the audience member who got hit. Yocho jumped back to his side of the arena and lifted his arms up.
"Sorry about that, dude. I was just talking to the guy who you attacked. Seriously, that was mean. So, anyway. Shoot your best blast at me. Knowing you, you'll end up hitting yourself!"
Yocho grinned at this, bracing himself for his opponent's (hopefully) best attack.

What in the world was going on? Raisu could hardly keep track of what was happening in the arena. First he was here, first he was there, and now he had attempted to slap Raisu. Raisu had blasted a random citizen. That hadn’t happened to his knowledge. And where had that mirror come from? This entire experience was something odd. Perhaps the men who had brought him in for fight club had slipped him something after all. But something was all but confirmed: the kid was crazy. And Raisu wasn’t going to fight someone like that. It just would not be fair. Or even fun.
“You know what? I’m just gonna let you have this one. I think you need it.”
And with that, Raisu turned on his heels and strode out of the arena. He strode through the guards, pushing them aside as he left and claiming the money he was owed as he past by the front desk. What an odd night this had been. An interesting experience for sure, but not one he was keen to have again. Raisu took to the streets and flew away. He had to find a nice place to hide by night fall. After all, the moon was coming soon.

[OOC: I'm sorry. It was because you had shot the beam "across the arena" even though I was right near you as you had sidestepped across the way. But it's fine. I'll edit this post with my exit when I get the chance. Enjoy.]
Yocho watched as the boy left the arena. Just... Walked away. He did wonder why this guy shot a beam across the arena when he was on his side... Or why nobody told him that a knockout wasn't enough for a victory. And then he just walked away from the arena. Something was different. This guy wasn't playing by the same rules as Yocho. Why?
The crowd stayed silent as the men in black took him away.
"So, do I get my Zeni? The guy ran away. He surrendered. He lost." The announcer came to speak to Yocho, but the man in darker colours waved him away. "You cheated. You took a mirror from the audience." "The audience who my opponent attacked. Speaking of my opponent, why didn't he know a knockout wasn't a win? He sure acted like he didn't know." "The difference between people like him, and people like you. You'll be trapped here, but he doesn't come from here. He won't be back. He just wants money. But you. You. Have. Nothing. Now even more so than before. And you can act like things will get better, but I know what happened to you. I know nothing will go right for you, and I know what happened when you fought the Turtle Hermit." Yocho looked at the man in shock. "That's right. I know more about you than you know about yourself. Now run. Run. And one day, when you're actually strong enough to even imagine what it's like to be as strong as the person you faced, maybe then you'll be able to lose to our strongest fighter. You get no Zeni. You lose. Go home"
The man looked away from Yocho. "We'll be in touch.
Yocho... Yocho... Lost...
These guys... They knew what happened at the New Turtle School. Before he could make sense of why he seemed to hate the Saiyans even more than before, he needed to figure out what really happened that day... Who won the fight and the man Yocho really was...
And to do that, he needed to train. Hard. To become the strongest fighter in this place and find out the truth about what happened that day. And he'd train as hard as he could until he succeeded.
[OOC: I'll take my leave there then. PL please.]

It was an alright thread, none the less guys! Yocho: Alright, so you'll be gaining 2958. 3765 > 6723. A quick suggestion: There's an abundance of ellipses usage that, while it's nice to use for someone to read the timing of the waiting, and build up the reader's anticipation for the attack and get immersed, it does hold you back a bit. You can easily apply the same effect by making the scene sound more like a thing out of a story book, describing the area about yourself as if it's slowing down the cascade of motion about you, as you wait for that perfect moment. Try exploring that, but do keep this idea of yours in your 'weapons of writing' as it's an unexpected thing to come across. Raisu Hanamura: As for yourself, you gain 1557 zeni! 7754 > 9311. My suggestion to you: Though you may not feel it early, consider that it is still early. Push out what you can, so you can figure out the current of the thread and go with it. Since it is a one on one thread, consider the current of the other person and, though you don't need to match their speed, consider the motion they go about and figure out how exactly your character is going about this current.
