Hello everyone! Zucceta and I were discussing in the cbox today what rules might govern the After-Life, and since more and more DE threads are cropping up, it behooves us to get moving on the mechanics of it. Some of the actual structure of the Other World still needs to be sorted out too when the zone links & pics are ready, but the actual mechanics haven't been resolved. Here is my opinion on how it should be laid out: When the character dies, they appear on a You're Dead! RIP! thread that is located in the Upper Worlds. In this thread, you will be judged by a gargantuan gavel-wielding staff-controlled NPC Ogre King who will judge your immortal soul. You will have 1 post to defend yourself (assuming you want to get into the Upper Worlds), and bring up what you think is your greatest (good-est) act, and what you think is your evilest act. You will also be investigated meanwhile, so lying or omitting your evilest act will probably weigh heavily against you. Depending on the outcome, and with the player's preference afforded some account (but not deciding power), the judgement is rendered and the character is sent to either HFIL or the Upper Worlds. If you're banished to HFIL, you can't Goku your way out of it. You're stuck there until you're revived. But you can canoe in the blood ponds!

Sounds fair to me - I'm more interested in what there is for characters to do in UW/HFIL.
Seems evil characters might get kinda shafted if goodies get to go train with Kais and stuff and bad dudes just wander around in hell getting bullied by ogres.

I think that's perfect! It seems really hashed out, obviously going to need some tuning and such down the road, but for a beginning concept; It's basic, intuitive, and engineered right! I have no quarrels! And Hyoza has a point. There could be training areas for both Hell and Heaven alike. Those could be some of the key details we need to hash out in order to get them up and running.

I think other world should be more of a process-based experience, and have been awaiting the chance to make this proposal -
My thought is that everyone should have to earn their body while in other world, until that point you are simply one of those spirits as seen in the series - you can float around and such as the Oni permit but you have no power level essentially.
You gain your body through some sort of 'body threads' maybe, perhaps though a pl earning requirement or zeni earning requirement(other world store?), but basically something you can't do 'in advance'. (The one exception to this would be that kami can bring a fighters body to other world, by doing this 'earning' in their place).
This gives you a goal to pursue when you are in Other World, as well as providing a progression path. Once you have your body additional affordances are granted to you, such as further freedom to explore, kai training and methods for returning to the living world.

well I just made my hell post and doing the earning the body progression steps to acquiring my body back. I was also thinking that this is technically good behavior in order to acquire ones body. Maybe it could also be implemented that once I do acquire my body back, I get to train with the bad counter part of a kai and do training. and to prove that I am worthy of training under such a being. Of course I would need your guys approval and such.

did you not read my thread. I fought the ogre and he removed my body from me. Not yenma but just a random npc ogre.

Then I'm confused why you even bothered with the new outfit in that thread.

I think the idea Vipoi suggest is good.... however I heavily disagree with Bao's suggestion.
As we saw in the anime EVERYONE who died aside from those with a PL of like 1-2 (Basically a regular human) had their bodies fully intact with their PL and we saw this on numerous occasions. Bao, if you REALLY want this site to remain as "Canon" as possible, your suggestion would throw the Otherworld into complete AU territory.
Also in the canon: Kid Buu dies while in Other World (and is the only villain to do so), yet his death seems to end his reign of terror. This may be because King Yemma reincarnates him after his death, so he never causes any trouble in Hell like Frieza and Cell did.
That leads me to believe King Yemma decides whether you get your body back for most residents.
ALTHOUGH, There is another piece of evidence:
Piccolo tells Vegeta that Goku kept his body when he died because he sacrificed himself to save the world from Cell, and devoted his life to fighting for good, and that Vegeta will not keep his body if he dies because he spent most of his life fighting for evil. However, true villains like Frieza, Cell, King Cold, Recoome, Burter, Jeice, Guldo, Dr. Gero, Appule, and Babidi did keep their bodies after death (the Ginyu Force can be explained because King Kai invited them over to show that Yamcha, Tien, and Chiaotzu could beat them, but the reason behind the others is unknown). Also, Piccolo, despite initially having an evil heart when he first died, was not only allowed to keep his body, but he also was allowed to go to King Kai's planet.
This leads me to believe only those who're REALLY evil or REALLY good can keep their body potentially though this seems a little odd.
My suggestion is a slightly modified version of Vipoi:
You have your body initially, you undergo a "Judgement" phase where it's determined whether or not you keep your body. If you're deemed too evil then you must either sacrifice your body and earn it back through good acts (Somehow) or fight the Judge (Or someone the Judge decrees) and win.
Personal Opinion Time: I say only Admin's be allowed to NPC this Judgement.

i also have something to say about the duration set for characters. Maybe remove the real time of 2 months until revival to maybe 2 weeks or something like that on the first death because a lot can happen in 2 months. If a lot of people were to die and 2 months goes by, a lot of characters won't even train at the other world for that long period of time and may quit or even create another character, making their other character inactive. I just feel like we should change the long duration or maybe there is a way to escape the other world. Maybe a series of challenges or something like that to motivate. Will be at work so i won't see this till later.

Canonically, the only person to keep their body was Son Goku (or did Gohan die too when he got trained by the Supreme Kai/Old Kai?). Any shots of heroes, or villains, in the afterlife in the anime are total filler.

Except.... the anime (Aside from filler episodes) is basically just the manga but animated..... That or you're saying that Goku and Son Goku are 2 entirely different characters.

All of the scenes in the afterlife with the villains do not occur in the manga. Same with the scenes with Yamcha, Tien, so forth on King Kai's planet. Hence, all those scenes are filler episodes or content.
