Hey guys, so earlier today, I had a thought about the upgrade pathing to get a palace.
'Palace'-type Buildings 35000z : The owner of the palace becomes a custom 'ruler', gaining a special technique in a "third" slot (ignoring the cap of two specials through other means) and has no requirement to teach the technique to others. [Upgrade Dojo or level 3 House into Palace].
What if, instead of using a dojo, the Palace can be gotten with the sacrifice of a Level 4 shop? It was a funny thought I had, really, but after mulling it over a bit, palaces usually come at a hefty cost of the user, who wants to have a place for themselves to use, instead of turning a place where a group of people go... Well, technically it could be a place all invested in, so maybe it can be another way for the palace to be gotten to? A level 4 shop already requires a lot of effort to be gotten to, so if the person decided they didn't want to have a shop anymore, they could have it as an optional means to getting a special?

From the perspective of someone who takes PL for granted compared to Zeni, I can say that it would be interesting to see more dynamics regarding zeni... Although I also understand that zeni is kind of there just as a resource to be depleted, and doesn't have the complexity of combat behind it, like power level does.
In short, if more depth could be added that'd be neat, but I could also see why it'd be problematic.
Edit: You know what would be neat to see? Upgrade paths branching out from Tier 4. I'd love to invest in a zeni only character. A mechanic that would be neat to see if something like weekly zeni deposits based on which upgrade tree you take it on.

Gonna wade in here with firm disagreement.
Palaces are supposed to be very hard to get. As are top-tier shops. They both have exclusive, worthwhile functions.

Gonna have to agree with Vi-Poi here. Palaces are hard to get for a reason. Besides that, if you have a T4 shop, the climb up to 35k Zeni for a Palace (and the extra 20k for a Dojo/T3 house, if you dont already own it) will go by much quicker.

It's under the idea that Shops eventually get no more usage, other than being magnets for people to go ask money of people who already have it. A Palace, after getting whatever it is you are aiming for, for your T4 shop would be offering the most endgame value to it. Why would you want to trade your dojo, your area of group training to help the younger players get up to some level (which, thinking it aloud, I feel would be a decent thing for Kami to have, but that's gonna come off as bias).
At one point, there'll only be a need of get zeni for a) repairs if you're a android, or b) getting senzu beans. Since you'll be able to acquire the necessary zeni from doing a social thread in the first place, so you can stock up on senzu beans or zeni for those repairs, the palace being able to be gotten from a tier 4 shop doesn't seem to be such a bad idea at that point.

100% certain the items required get changed up when you get the upgraded building.

You keep the item. Due to the fact that the School/Palace can be purchased from two different items, and the fact that the item itself has no gain buffing mechanic, the dojo/house stays in your inventory.

... I would say that the requirement one of them items implies that the item should be at a loss because you're sacrificing the original design to give it a new purpose. If it's the case that the item's not getting sacrificed at all, what's the purpose putting the requirement of the item for a palace or academy if the original item's not getting used?
