It was strange to be away from the colder climes of the North but Alakaz found himself compelled to leave the familiarity of the mountains and frozen wastes to explore new regions of the world. Never before had he been allowed such freedom to travel where he wished when he wished and with the lack of...initiates to be found in abundance to the North he had turned his attention elsewhere, to warmer parts where green flourished below where before he had only seen white and shades of grey. Everywhere he looked he found lush shades of green of such variety he couldn’t even tell at times that they were all separate from each other...to his eyes it seemed as though one great creature swept out across the land. He knew better but it was an odd thought that kept creeping back into his mind as he skimmed the treetops...occasionally reaching out with a hand to brush the leaves.
He wasn’t heading anywhere in particular for the moment he just knew that the North was no longer as populated as he remembered and that sightings of any humanoids of one form or another were rare...and the ones he had encountered were too strong for his needs right now...at least...he needed more time to further his own understanding of his growing power before creatures like the ones he had encountered could be subdued...humans in general on the other hand...would do nicely in time...if he could only find what he needed…
The ruined libraries of the old frozen monastery in the North told of other temples like the one he had been raised in, one in each of the compass directions of the Earth but beyond that they made no reference to where...only that they would all bear the same markings in the stone to identify them to the ones on the path.
He had stopped only recently at some ancient stone structure only to be disappointed when he had scoured its surface and found no trace of what he sought. He’d leveled the place leaving an open expanse of stone and rubble so that should he find himself at this place once more he would recognise that it held no interest to him.
But now something else had drawn his attention, the structure ahead of him was different somehow...familiar yet different..the layout...the grounds...all spoke of a link to the monastery in the North but the stone...the colouring of it, the texture...and what was left of the doors...spoke different materials all together...surely this must be what he ad been looking for all these days past. The markings on the stone walls...the wear on the slabs of rock tht marked the courtyard...all brought back memories from his past...the texts had to be here somewhere...the histories of the order...so far incomplete with what he had read...must at least in part be hidden here somewhere amongst the ruins....
