After a few weeks of planning, it was finally time. Time to put her plans into action. To finally begin her rise to power. This might not of been much, not in the slightest, but it was one of many steps she needed to further her goals.
She made her way through the factory she purchased, now being worked by unpaid imps bound to her service when they were summoned. She wasn’t above making others work for her, nor above that of forced servitude. In fact having so many under her command made her rather giddy. Gave her a taste at what real power could be, however small.
Each step she made seemed to bring a slight bit of tension to the air around her. She was excited, but also nervous. What she was about to attempt was a difficult spell, and if she ruined it not only would she have to start over, but she’d lose one of her precious eggs. As a hive demon she was insectoid in her anatomy to some degree. As such she had a hidden nest in the underground area of the Facility. A place to house the eggs she laid, as well as a place to return to for relaxation. A safe haven if you would.
She stopped at the doorway to her nest, a wall with an illusion cast over it. To the untrained eye it was just a solid red brick wall like the rest of the factory. To those that knew of its existence it was merely an illusion, one put there to protect Xanara’s Brood. She headed through the illusion, and began down the dark cave path. The cave was dark, Moist, and the only lighting there was were the occasional torches embedded in the stone walls. The farther down Xanara got the warmer things got as well. One might even say it was almost too hot for most. Enough for someone to consider it a hot day outside. The heat however didn’t bother Xanara. She loved every moment of it, fire was her element after all.
Travelling down the spiralling cave walkway would take nearly thirty minutes, and upon reaching the main chamber, Xanara sighed softly. It was darker than the way she had come, yet there was enough light for her to see. The chamber was large, nearly a mile long, Every inch of the walls were covered in a thick residue, chitin in nature. In the middle of the room was a large lake, filled by the water that kept the cave moist, and gave it its musty nature. In the very center of that lake there was an altar that frothed with a green bubbling Liquid that expelled smoke that spilled over the edge. The altar itself was a basin, with a large claw like structure holding it up, made of the same material as the walls.
Xanara approached the lake and stopped at its edge, only to tap her staff twice on the ground. She chuckled to herself as stones began to rise up out of the water, forming a pathway for her. Once they had finished she made her way to the middle area and to that Altar. As she reached it she moved to its side and placed her hand upon its basin.
“Its finally ready.” Spoke the Demoness, her smouldering eyes staring down at the vile potion that bubbled in the basin of its own accord. “And its time.”
She opened a small bag she had on her waist, pulling out an egg about the size of a humans head. She looked it over lovingly, smiling softly before she looking to the basin. She’d set the egg in the center and nodded, her aura flaring around her as she sighed. She calmed herself, preparing for the spell ahead. From the same pouch she pulled a small bottle, inside a black widow sat, bottled for use in said spell. A wicked smile came over the demoness’ face as she dropped the bottle into the basin as well.
She placed her hands on two of the claws that held the bason up, her eyes glowing a tad brighter as her aura focused to her hands, the green flames billowing much larger than they normally would.
She channeled her magic into the basin before opening her mouth. She let out a long droning groan before shutting her eyes. A slow breath came before she began to chant her spell.
As the chanting went on the bason’s potion would catch flame, its smoke swirling well above the basin itself. The Egg began to rise slowly, crackling with an odd energy before it shifted from a blue to a white color. The potion’s bubbling stopped and all was still. The spell’s chanting continued before the potion began to swirl quickly before shooting upwards towards the egg. The green liquid spun about the egg for several moments before seemingly being absorbed by the Egg. As the Liquid was absorbed the egg’s color changed to green. A shape inside could be seen now, that of a spider. It twitched and shuddered before the egg lowered back into the basin.
Xanara let out a gasp as the spell ended, sweat dripping down her brow. It was a lot more work than she had anticipated, and as such felt physically drained because of it. She swallowed hard and stared at the now green egg which seemed to pulse with life. The Demoness picked up the Egg tenderly before lifting it to eye level. She looked it over quickly before there was a sudden crack. It was so sudden and unexpected it caused Xanara to jump and nearly drop the egg.
The cracking continued, before finally the egg’s shell gave way completely, shattering as four legs sprouted outwards. Xanara blinked softly before two humanoid hands cracked out of the shell as well. Xanara…. She had done it. She had not only created her first child, but also created a Demonic Mutant at the same time. An unholy union one might say. The demoness smiled, a sense of pride washing over her before she began to laugh. It started off slow and quiet, but soon was full blown cackling at the top of her lungs. She held the child above her head as the last of the shell was shaken off.
“My Greatest Creation! Alive!”
Step one was complete. Now it was on to step Two.
And Thus Helia Redhive is born!
