Before this it's worth point out the Bio-Android transformation description.
Now, let's go into what the transformation paths really are like:
According to Vi-Poi it doesn't matter how many absorptions you do before hand — at 120k you make the final decision on which path to take. Meaning you could absorb pre 120/110k and still go cocoon or catalyst.
Now
I was thinking: Catalyst vs Cocoon.
Catalyst cocoon
13x at 120k vs 11x at 110k
That part sounds alright. Catalyst comes a quite a bit later (stronger, not faster), but eventually becomes 15x at 150k. Cocoon remains 11k.
At this point it isn't 'faster', but it's certainly stronger.
Then comes the next evolutionary step:
33x at 250k vs 28x at 275k
Catalyst, at this point, comes at an extreme disadvantage. It's weaker & slower. AND you STILL need to get TWO adsorptions . You need to absorb someone at 275k who already likely has a much better transformation than 15x of your previous catalyst thing.
Catalyst does eventually become 35x, but only at close to 100k PL later. And even then only by 2 modifiers. Or 25x? Apparently you get WEAKER defensively than the cocoon's transformation which was acquired almost 100k power level SOONER.
And none of the effort you put in would NOT matter as catalyst? Why? Because you BOTH reach THE SAME endgame.
Actually, that's not true. As a catalyst player you will NEVER reach endgame without your second transformation — as seen with Reikiko
So, I'm wondering: what IS the appeal of catalyst?
So, the end game is the same. The mid game is better. The early game is almost as good.
Except it all comes a lot sooner for cocoon — with less work.
Yet, as catalyst, to get your (weaker at first) transformation (which comes LATER than cocoon ) you need to absorb someone at 275,000 with your 15x
In summation I feel like the trees need to be adjusted — or at the very least the description be made correct.
I don't feel like the risk/reward is anywhere near with it for the Bio-Androids. Especially because it can actively damage you to go Catalyst, as it did with Rei (who would now be at 43x if she'd gone cocoon).
Catalyst buffed or cocoon nerf. Otherwise catalyst just feels outclassed.
