It was just another normal day on Earth for Kale, the Saiyan who defected from his home world only a year ago. Since his arrival on Earth, he had made two new friends that just happened to have Saiyan heritage like himself. While not full-blooded Saiyans, all that mattered to Kale was that he was not fully alone on this world. And he met them over the subject of food, no less! After that chance encounter, the 25 year-old man could only guess that there must be other renegade Saiyans living on planet Earth, whether they were full-blooded or hybrids. But, only time would reveal such a matter.
Kale was currently spending the afternoon in a forest within the Eastern Lands, not too far from the tall, snow-capped mountains. The forest itself contained a wonderful variety of lush plant life, where a majority of woodland creatures called home, such as deer, rabbits, mice, and even some wolves. Not to mention the different insects that also inhabited the area, such as the ant colonies that scurried along the forest floor and tree surfaces. But, Kale was not exactly in a dense area of the woods. No, instead, he was spending his time at a waterfall.
The clear water roared as it fell to the bottom of the fall, crashing and washing over the rocks that were collected at the bottom. The water was then pooled into a relatively small-sized body of water. Kale was situated next to reservoir of liquid, but he was not relaxing. Like most days, Kale was training himself to become a stronger fighter. At the moment, the Saiyan was performing a hand stand on his right hand, while keeping his left hand behind his back. His legs were kept straight and firm in the air. During this acrobatic performance, Kale lowered himself to the ground by bending his elbow, and then raised himself back up, all while keeping his balance. Each time he lowered and raised himself, the muscles in the Saiyan's right arm and chest rippled as they flexed. Throughout this workout regimen, Kale kept his abdominal muscles flexed and tightened. Due to the sweat that was collecting at his forehead and chin, it was apparent that Kale had been doing this exercise for quite some time.

Suddenly, and with no warning, an explosion would ring out from the nearby forest. A decently size power level had appeared, and seemed to be firing Ki blasts into the forest, sending trees every which way with the explosions. The Arcosian hovered in the air, his black bio armor and white gem quite clear in contrast to the bright blue sky. It wasn't long before he landed in the clearing he had made and smiled.
"This will be an excellent spot for a temporary home." He said. He looked about, noting the few dead animals about. "Oh And would you look at that. Dinner as well." He chuckled to himself before shaking his head. "Right lets get to business. I have survival training from the academy. I might be a little rusty but I should be able to make do. Especially with how week the average being is on this planet." He tapped his scouter. "Still, I should be wary. Saiyans seem to like this planet and I don't need them breathing down my neck."
His scouter beeped and he turned his head towards the direction of the waterfall. He frowned and crossed his arms. "Just wonderful..." He muttered. "Still... Only four thousand. If it comes my way and decides to be violent without an regards for manners, like that woman I killed, then I'll put it down like the rest... If not." he shrugged. "For now however." He turned to one of the dead animals, whom happened to be a boar. "I think Its time to eat."

Kale was so caught up with his training, that when the previously peaceful neighboring forest became disturbed by a series of loud detonations of incredible power, Kale was caused to topple over from the sudden deafening surprise. His back and legs slammed hard into the grass-covered ground, forcing him to grunt in slight agony. The Saiyan now sat up, and rubbed the back of his neck with his left gloved hand. "What in the world?" Kale murmured to himself, looking off toward the direction of the blasts. Along with the explosions, he could hear multiple trees creaking as they toppled over and crashed into the forest floor. It sounded like distant thunder. And although Kale could not see many clouds in the sky, he knew that there was a good chance that a storm was coming over the horizon.
The Saiyan now stood up. He proceeded to dust himself off, making sure to wipe any dirt and blades of grass from his dark-teal gi. His imagination was running wild with possibilities of what could have caused the explosions in the first place. Was it a Vegetan Saiyan that was looking for him due to his desertion, who had finally tracked him down? Or maybe someone was simply taking out their anger on the poor creatures that were now most likely terrified in the most destructive manner? Regardless of the possible outcome, Kale decided that the best course of action would be to suppress his power.
Kale would do just that. He concentrated now, closing his eyes and relaxing his arms by his sides. He focused on bringing down his power, now concealing a good chunk of his ki. After a few moments, Kale opened his eyes once more. "This should be enough to make me unnoticeable." he stated to no one in particular. Really, he was talking to himself. "Now. Time to find out what's going on."

Retsu had been about to take a bite of the succulent hog flesh when his scouter let out a beep letting him know it lost the power level. He blinked and tapped it again and again. "What in the world?" He asked. "Thats... strange."
He'd drape the hog's body over his shoulder and tap his scouter a few more times. " A power level of that size doesn't just disappear..." He muttered before shaking his head. "Interesting.... I'll have to keep my guard up." He came over to a tree stump and sat down before he got to eating the Hog. It was technically cooked thanks to his Ki blasts, but it still didn't taste that good. He stuck out his tongue after a few bites and let out a grunt of distaste. "What I wouldn't give to have Dorento by my side right now... He'd know how to make this edible..."
He'd drop what was left of the hog on the floor before he sat back and looked up at the sky. Aside from the fight he got into this planet had been rather peaceful. Which was surprising considering how many Saiyans he had run into. They were just everywhere. He shut his eye and tapped his scouter again, just to scan for anything, but it again found nothing. "I hope I didn't break this thing." He muttered. "Its the only one iI've got."

Kale was now walking along a natural path through the woods. He looked above the tree line, following the faint smoke that was currently wafting from a section of the woods. A gentle breeze blew across the area. The wind sifted through the many green leaves of the timberland, causing them to shiver smoothly. But as Kale was getting closer to the supposed whereabouts, a few of the animals that called the forest home were darting away from the opposite direction in a panic. It did not take long for the curious Saiyan to make it to the edge of the blast zone that the Arcosian created within the once unscathed forest. Kale could only look on in sadness and horror.
Within the charred circular clearing remained five dead animals. Two grey wolves, a doe, her fawn, and a hawk. Whatever caused the explosions not long ago lead to the trees which used to stand tall and proud to lay helpless and charred on the ground, if they had not been disintegrated already. And at the epicenter of the medium-sized expanse, stood a lone Arcosian who was messing with his scouter. The remains of a singed boar laid at his feet. It wasn't even completely eaten. Kale was not one to ever waste food, nor willingly destroy a habitat haphazardly.
Kale's eyes trailed from the boar's corpse to the stranger. He had never seen an Arcosian before, but he did hear about their existence when he still lived on planet Vegeta. The Saiyan examined every detail of his features, especially noting his horns. Not wanting to waste any time, Kale decided to approach the being before him. He did not want to come off as confrontational, so he did his best to keep his cool.
Once Kale was a good fifteen paces away, halted, and kept his feet shoulder-width apart. He offered a soft smile to Retsu. "Hi." he spoke, hoping to initiate a friendly conversation. "You gonna finish that boar?" Of course, Kale kept his tail wrapped around his waist as he normally did. So if Retsu observed him, he would immediately be able to figure out his heritage.

Retsu's attention immediately turned to Kale as he spoke. He quickly looked him up and down before turning to him. He kept his arms crossed, and noted Kale's tail. Great yet another saiyan. Nothing but saiyans on this planet. Maybe they owned it? He frowned for a moment before being posed with a question about the boar. "No. Its disgusting." He'd give a kick to the thing, tossing it Kale's way.
"Hardly fit for me." His tail swayed about before he narrowed his eyes. "Why is your power level so low Saiyan?" He asked. He pointed at him. "I doubt my scouter is broken, but it only reads your power level as six..." He frowned. "Explain yourself"

Kale had to do his best to stop himself from making a disgusted scowl. For now, he kept an air of friendliness. "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that." the Saiyan replied. "It's a shame to just waste food." It was apparent to Kale that Retsu was going to remain a bit hostile. The last thing that the Saiyan wanted to do was to get into a fight that he couldn't win. He would be lying if he said he wasn't in the least intimidated by the Arcosian. When Retsu jabbed a finger in his direction and demanded an explanation, Kale's expression became a tad more serious.
"Well, to be perfectly honest, I'm suppressing my power." Kale explained. "As soon as I head the bombardment of blasts, the thought crossed my mind that I was being hunted down. I defected from Vegeta a year ago, so it would make sense if a Saiyan Solar Empire soldier had managed to track me down." Kale paused for a moment now, taking this time to scan the area with his eyes. "It saddens me that these poor creatures got caught in the blasts." he returned his attention to the Arcosian. "What brings you to this neck of the woods, if you don't mind me asking?"

Retsu listened to his explaination of his power level. He blinked for a moment. "Suppressing your power level?" He asked abit surprised by this answer. "You can do that?... Can I do that?" He shook his head. " Questions for later." He muttered.
He took in what Kale said about his past before crossing his arms. "Defector from the SSE huh?" He asked. "An enemy of the queen, is an ally in my book." He chuckled softly. "My apologies for the rude interruption in your day. I was merely making a spot to call home." He'd note the dead animals scattered about. "I can't be blamed for that. My scouter didn't pick up their power levels because they were so low. Yet it hardly matters any more. Whats done is done and you can't bring them back. You can however eat them all you'd like. I'm certainly not going to try again." He frowned sticking out his tongue. "I'm afraid my pallet is a bit too refined for their tastes."

Kale nodded to the Arcosian as a way of showing that he understood Retsu's words. "Yeah, I've never been the kind of person who agreed with the normal Saiyan mentality. But when I saw what the invading forces were doing to the people on this planet, my parents and I managed to slip away and defect. And well, we've been living here ever since." he sighed, now. "I never wanted to attack other planets in the first place. But I never knew that civilians were actively hunted down. It disgusted me." Kale folded his arms across his chest, now. The fabric of his gi felt soft against his skin. Remembering the day of the invasion always bothered him.
But, that was all in the past. Kale now offered Retsu a soft smile. "Don't worry too much about the animals. They were bound to be killed some day, anyway." there was a tone of calm in his voice. "Nature will take care of itself. But I'd like to ask, please try to be more careful from now on. And to answer your question, yes. Anyone is capable of hiding their power. It takes some practice, though."

"I see." he said. "I never agreed with Saiyans either. Don't get me wrong, I've conquered planets for the Arcosian Empire. But something about the way saiyans do it is just.... wrong." He frowned. " Always so much destruction and boasting. Your conquering this planet so you can gain things from it. The more people you kill and the more damage you do, the less output they have. I've always entertained the idea of duels to decide the fate of a planet..." He shrugged. "That way only one person has to die, if at all."
He looked about the crater then frowned. "Again Not my fault." He looked Kale up and down once before taking a step closer. " Show me your real power." He tapped his scouter. "I want to see how much fun a fight between us would be."

When the Arcosian had casually mentioned that he had taken the lives of people when performing conquests for his empire, Kale was beginning to think that he may not completely like Retsu. He never liked the idea of having to take a life. But at the very least, Retsu appeared to have an air of honor. One thing was for sure, the two different members of two completely different species agreed on something; that needlessly destroying lives while on a campaign to expand an empire was pointless. Kale at most understood that killing enemy forces was sometimes necessary. But civilians, even children? That was an unspeakable act in Kale's eyes.
The Arcosian's demand threw Kale off for a moment. While Kale was a peaceful Saiyan, it didn't mean that he hated to fight to begin with. "You want to spar me, huh?" the Saiyan directed to Retsu. "Alright, then. But I hope I won't disappoint you." Indeed, Kale could tell that this warrior before him would put up a decent fight. "I've never actually sparred with anyone other than my parents. So this will be a nice change of pace."
The Saiyan's tail unwrapped itself from his waist, then swayed gently behind him now. His feet spread a bit further apart which caused some dust to scuff up from the ground. Kale then brought his gloved hands up to his belted waist. "Okay. here it goes." Kale's hands clenched into fists just as small pebbles and broken rocks shook on the ground around him. The Saiyan commenced with charging up his ki, which was apparent by the soft light-blue aura that now began to surround him. Kale drew in a deep breath through his nostrils. Then, he generated an animalistic primal roar. "Haaaaaa...." initially, it began a bit soft. But as the seconds passed and the rocks began to levitate, the Saiyan's guttural clamor grew louder.
"HaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAUGH!" The ki that surrounded the fighter increased in intensity. Now, completely charged to his maximum power, Kale silenced himself, and his ki aura dispersed. The levitating debris fell back down to the earthy terrain. The brown tail of his swayed a bit in anticipation for the fight that was about to happen. The Saiyan was filled with determination. No matter how much stronger his opponent might be, Kale was going to give it his all. Even if it meant utter defeat.

Retsu took a step back as the Saiyan began to power up. His scouter beeped noting the rising power level. When it stopped he smiled. " There we go..." He said. " Just what I scanned earlier..." He chuckled. " An admirable display I must admit. I'm sure you already know but I'm suppressing my own power level as we speak. I'm only at ten percent of my full power. However..."
He smiled at Kale. "I wont be using my full power to fight you. Because any time I use my full power... someone dies." He let out a slow breath as his icy blue aura ripped up around him. "Now its clear that my even mentioning a fight got your blood boiling. I know how you saiyans work. You want to fight, no matter how peaceful you may claim to be." Retsu punch a fist into his hand, before cracking his Knuckles. "I myself enjoy friendly spars.... And I am willing to beat you down..."
His eyes moved down to Kale's Tail. " Tell me Saiyan... Does your tail weaken you?"

Kale smirked for a moment. "It wouldn't be wise for me to tell you if I had any weaknesses, now would it?" The Saiyan retorted. He put himself into a defensive pose to prepare himself for the Arcosian's attack. "And you're right, I do love to fight. But only so that I can become stronger to protect people. So that I can save lives, and make myself into a better person." To be fair, Retsu's comments on his Saiyan heritage weren't too far from the truth. But it was only fuel that added to the fire within Kale to prove that he wasn't like the other Saiyans.
The Saiyan chuckled softly when Retsu made his claim about only being at ten percent of his current power. He did not own a scouter himself. So all things considered, he was unable to properly gauge how strong the Arcosian actually was. "I appreciate the sentiment. But before we start, I'd like to formally introduce myself." the least that Kale could do was be polite before a sparring match. "My name is Kale. And to whom do I have the pleasure of speaking to?"

The Arcosian chuckled at Kale's words. "Ah good. You aren't stupid like some other saiyan's I've met." He slowly brought his arms behind him, keeping them there behind his back. His signature fighting style. "That is a very admirable goal saiyan... perhaps if you become strong enough I may fight you with my full power." He smiled as Kale introduced himself. "I am Lord Retsu."
Suddenly his Ki rippled around him, causing the ground beneath his feet to crater and crack. He smiled at Kale before Shooting off towards him like a rocket. He'd attempt to catch Kale in a flurry of blows from his fists, occasionally tossing in tail whips and the like to throw him off.

Kale was mentally prepared for Lord Retsu's onslaught of of punches and tail swipes. Fortunately, the Saiyan fighter was a competent opponent for the blue and black Arcosian Lord. As soon as Retsu's attack commenced, Kale skillfully blocked and evaded the quick flurry. Kale alternated between blocking with his forearms, legs, and even his hands, while ducking to the side or hopping backward on the occasional strike that he may not be quick enough to intercept. He wanted to make sure that he utilized different techniques to prevent any damage from befalling his body. However, Retsu's strikes were heavy-hitting, which in turn cause Kale to grit his teeth from slight twinges of stinging sensations in the areas of his body that he used to catch each attack.
It did not feel like the attack was going to let up any time soon. But when it all seemed relatively hopeless, Kale could see an opening. 'There!' He did not want to lose his chance to get on the offensive. The cheeky Saiyan hopped back one pace. Without delay, he launched a heavy sweeping kick toward Retsu's ribs. But this would only be a feign attack. If the Arcosian fell for his trick, Kale would instead bring his leg back in, and then cast a heavy kick toward Lord Retsu's gut. "HAA!"
