Tanis carries on in a 6'3" stature; her hourglass-shaped body is kept in top physical shape. It shows well.
Any of her raven hair above her ear is tightly bound back into a ponytail which spills down about four inches; the rest of her hair is free to spill over her shoulders and down to her middle-upper back.
Behind her wraparound dark-tinted glasses hides a pair of vibrant green eyes.
Tanis more often than not keeps a pair of fingerless gloves on her person — sometimes equipped, sometimes wrapped on her belt.
Her Chang Dao's is bound diagonally behind her; black hilt wrapped in a yellow ribbon sitting just over her left shoulder.
Han Jian is kept tightly secured at her waist's left side. Plain blade with a sleep, matter plastic-like outer sheath and grip.
Beneath a sleek black cloth coat — which falls down to her knees — she sports a tight sleeveless body armor to protest her ample chest and core.
Her necklace: The dark, reflective metal chain was dense — light, but strong. From a translucent smokey grey gem cut in a trillion shape.
Over black rubber combat boots she sports dark-grey military cargo pants, where she stashes away food and currency.
Around her cargo pants is a very ordinary and insignificant — but durable — black-cloth belt.

History:
Alison Wei was born far from where a human should be born; born far from the cradle of human civilization — Earth. She wasn’t lucky enough to be born amid Earth’s concrete jungles; among its spires of glass, that scraped the skies and reflected a peaceful, self-sustained geopolitical ecosystem. Alison Wei never had to worry about politics, social hierarchy, the viscous mist of young love, or melding in with the zeitgeist of a civilization.
Alison Wei — or as she came to be known: Tanis — was born in a world very much different from most humans. A poor desert world that had precious resources. Resources some believed the current population was just ‘in the way’ of.
The earliest clusters of memories Wei had were of her father, a first responder, coming home. Dirt and soot of collapsed infrastructure clinging to him as he walked in; bringing into the home the tell-tale smell of destruction. She came to love that smell— it often meant his arrival; a break from the isolation of their small, decrepit b̶u̶n̶k̶e̶r̶ home.
When he arrived he brought food and water, often dented and slightly rusted; ammunition, for in an unregulated warzone even those in the service of saving lives often had theirs taken. Once he even brought her a keepsake — a gift. She adored and cherished the necklace. The dark, reflective metal chain was dense — light, but strong. From a translucent smokey grey gem cut in a trillion shape.
The paramedic sometimes brought friends too. They gathered around a table beneath the singular hanging bulb in an ill-lit room and shared stories. Vented. It was during one of those visits she first picked up the words ‘Arcosian Empire’. Alison didn’t like those stories; she didn’t understand them.
One night, however, her father didn’t return.
Two old women came to her door many days later. They were calling her name, claiming they knew her father. She was told to never open that door. Hunger, however, spoke louder than paternal law.
Alison’s was not a special case, she soon came to learn. As the war went on orphans became commonplace. The women took care of as many as they could — sheltering them from the Arcosian forces’ ruthlessness. At first Alison came to view the two women as mean, bitter crones — often they would punish her either for eccentric behavior or stealing bits of food… But eventually Alison came to understand: they were good, kind-hearted people. War simply brought out the worst in everything.
Her time with the two women and the others in their care didn’t last. Between a shortage of supplies, further destruction of infrastructure, and an approaching enemy force... Well, this chapter of her life also came to an end.
Alison, now on her own, came to understand how difficult food, water, and other necessities were to obtain. She did what she could to get by in the derelict war-torn city; she come to learn that some ways of earning money were far easier than others.
In time Alison came to find employment with an up-and-coming group of mercenaries. Her entrance was made easy, as one of the leaders recognized her; one of her father’s friends — a man who realized he could live more comfortably taking life instead of preserving it.
“Why waste expensive medicine, often to only help ease the dying?” Once said the man her father knew as ‘Coff Koh’. She came to know him as ‘Kebrew'; his old name left behind just as his previous life had been.
So, too, was Alison’s previous ‘life’ left behind.
She was given direction. Training. A rank. A name: “Tanis”
Training. Alison was trained — diligently so once she distinguished herself through intense effort and much passion. Alison didn’t share her peer’s views that training was a chore ; Alison loved each and every training session! Why wouldn’t she? Finally she was being given the tools she needed to thrive in this world! Blade, ki, and physical constitution became her focus.
The longer the planet’s conflict continued the less of a future Alison saw for herself there … Especially when the Arcosian ownership of the world became an inevitable reality.
Tanis didn’t miss much of the world she now put behind her.
She carried with her the tools of her trade, a keepsake from her father, and a keen distaste for the Arcosian.
Fun-Facts:
Tanis hates flying; she will do what she can to avoid it.
She can be considered keenly racist against Arcosians, reasons depicted in history.
