~~~ During his crash landing it would be more than likely that creatures for miles would have been able to see his ship enter the atmosphere and get a rough idea of where it landed. ~~~
In the desert after his crash landing on the Planet Earth. Athren had no idea where he was. He was injured and delusional. He could probably benefit from some relaxation and medical treatment. Glancing back at his ship he shook his head lightly.
"Either I got beat up that bad or this heat is getting to me.."
Athren turned himself back around to head back to his ship where he had a very small amount of emergency supplies. Rations, a spare chest piece, a back up jump suit and his scouter. Arriving back at his ship he landed in the burning sand of the desert. He then leaned in his small saiyan pod and lifted the seat up. It was a tight fit but it had all the supplies he needed for a short period of time. digging through it he tossed his spare gloves and boots out of the ship along with his spare chest armour and his spare jumpsuit.
He then dug into the bottom and grabbed a container of water. He popped it opened and drank every last drop of it in a matter of seconds. He then tossed the empty container into the sand.
As quickly as a bloody and beaten injured man could, Athren stripped down completely and put on his new jumpsuit, boots, gloves and his chest armour. The last thing he put on was his scouter.
He then grabbed the small control pad for his ship and slid it under his armour.
Closing the hatch he turned to look at the open desert. "Alright, Time to get myself out of this mess.."
It was yet another blazing hot afternoon in the Diablo Desert. Nai-Ran had been slithering back and forth in front the cave in which she called home for the past half an hour, occasionally pausing to gaze at the mountain in the distance. Her last attempt to venture out in search of a human city hadn’t quite ended as she had planned. The young woman’s main goal had been to seek out civilization in order to acquire some supplies. However, she hadn’t even made it past Mt. Paozu before she had gotten distracted.
While it was true that Nai-Ran had met a couple of rather interesting characters and learned some useful information, the cave that she currently inhabited was still quite bare. It’s not like anything she had been planning on bartering for was all that important, but it would be nice to have her temporary home consist of more than rock, sand, and a pod full of food.
Next time she ventured out of the desert would be different; she was certain of it. Nai-Ran knew the direction she had to travel this time and wouldn’t even have to bother with Mt. Paozu. She still had to figure out a way to pay for anything she might possibly purchase when she reached her destination, but that part could come later. Surely there would be no shortage of jobs or errands that people needed done in the city, and would likely be willing to provide compensation. The young woman might even be lucky enough to be able to find something on the way there.
Nai-Ran continued slithering back and forth as planned out her second attempt that she would be making tomorrow morning. However, her thoughts were promptly interrupted when she looked over to see something in the distance falling down to Earth at incredible speeds. Was... was that another space pod? She couldn’t make out the details from there, but it looked like roughly the same size and shape. Nai-Ran’s crimson eyes followed the object until she witnessed it land somewhere in the distance. Her interest and curiosity thoroughly piqued, the Ryashi decided to prematurely end her little planning session in favor of a little investigation.
It didn’t take Nai-Ran very long to reach the crash site. Just as she had suspected, the object she had seen was in fact a space pod. The Ryashi spotted a figure standing in front of the metal sphere just as her finished closing up the hatch. He appeared to have a similar shape to the human who she had met on Mt. Paozu, but there was some sort of furry tail sprouting from where his spine would have ended. He also had a device attached to the side of his face that looked strikingly similar to the one that Houri had in her possession. What did she call it? A scouter?
Deciding that it would be rude to continue to stare from a distance, Nai-Ran decided to do the polite thing and go introduce herself to the stranger. The serpentine lass neatly folded her hands in front of her and slowly made her way towards the bipedal man. ”Another off-worlder, I see. Allow me to welcome you to Earth,” Nai-Ran spoke with a smile as soon as she was within earshot. Though, there was always the possibility that the man was returning to Earth rather than just arriving, which would make the young woman look rather foolish. She decided to pay this thought no mind and decided to stick with her initial assumption.
As she grew closer, the serpentine lass got the feeling that the stranger had seen better days. His clothes looked like new, but his face looked a bit roughed up. ”Umm... Are you alright?”
Athren was just about to lift off up into the sky to try and get out of this miserable hot place he found himself in but then he heard the voice of somebody or something greeting him to the Planet Earth. He turned his full attention to her as he examined her figure. He didn't really expect a creature like that to greet him but he decided to interact anyway.
"Hm. So this is Earth? I hope this Planet isn't covered with lands like this." He said as he had learned of his current location. It was a good thing that this creature had shown up, maybe she could answer a few more questions that Athren had. Lifting his left hand Athren activated his scouter. It locked onto her serpentine figure with a beep and attempted to read her power level as it made a scrolling sound. If she paid attention to it she'd notice a circle lit up in the center of the navy blue glass. " I'm fine. Nothing I've never dealt with before." The young saiyan tried to show no weakness. His face stayed emotionless and cold even though he knew that he needed rest.
At this point he didn't really care who she was or why she was out in this hot and miserable place. He simply wanted answers to the questions that he had. "Tell me, is your race the dominating race of this planet?" He paused before ranting off another few. If she tried to speak he'd rudely ignore her and continue to worry about his own details. "How strong are the inhabitants of this place and are there any saiyans here?"
“In that case, you should be happy to know that not everywhere on this planet is covered in burning sand. Personally, I love it here. To each their own,” Nai-Ran responded to the man’s first comment with a shrug of her shoulders. She wound her pearly tail into a tight coil beneath her before perching atop it, her hands still neatly folded in front of her.
The vaguely familiar device attached to the man’s head beeped. The Ryashi noticed some faint shapes and characters flash on its screen, but she had no idea what exactly they meant from where she was sitting. So, he was trying to get a read on her, huh? Was he looking for someone to spar with? Houri had done the same thing not long after she had offered to spar with the serpentine lass. Though, that led to the Florian randomly trying to punch Nai-Ran like some sort of barbarian, but it was best not to get into that for the moment. She would just have to be wary in case this guy threw a punch at her out of the blue. Perhaps that’s just what one did when using a scouter; she didn’t know.
The man insisted that he was alright. Nai-Ran studied his face carefully. While if definitely looked roughed up, there was nothing in his facial expression or the tone of his voice to indicate that he was in pain. Well, she wouldn’t pry into the matter if he was that insistent about it. He was obviously a warrior of some caliber. She knew the type and how stubborn they could be. Instructor Ma-Surin as well as several of her fellow students back home acted the same way whenever they got injured during practice.
”Not even close. I would honestly be quite shocked if you found another of my race on this world, actually. You see, I am a Ryashi that hails from the planet Appodorra. My name is Nai-Ran of the Rassuto. However, just calling me Nai-Ran would be preferable. Anything more than the first name is a needless formality; nobody else uses it beyond an introduction,” Nai-Ran introduced herself with a smile and a quick bow. What was it with her recently and forgetting to introduce herself? Putting a name to a face was always supposed to be top priority when meeting new people. Even though he was on another planet entirely, the young woman could practically feel her father’s angry glare on the back of her head. It made her cringe.
”Well, I haven’t been on this planet for very long at all, and most of my time here has been spent in this desert. As delightful as I find it here, I’ve only met a small handful of others. I don’t believe I can accurately answer your question. Though, what I can tell you is that humans are supposedly the most common race here; I’ve only met one so far myself. I’ve never met a Saiyan. Am I to assume that that’s what you are?” Nai-Ran asked curiously after answering his questions to the best of her knowledge. With the different species she had met so far during her short stay on Earth, the serpentine lass was starting to think that Earth was as big of an intergalactic tourist spot as Appodorra.
During her talking Athren's scouter finally read her base power level. His eyes went wide for a moment as he couldn't believe it. His whole face look kind of surprised. ~ Her power level is double mine! How the hell is that possible..? I'm a saiyan warrior and this.. THING is double my strength. This damn scouter must be broken.~
Slowly he reached his hand up and brushed some sand out of his hair. He listened to Nai-Ran but didn't respond to much of her words. He wasn't interested in conversation or introduction, he simply wanted to know what he need and he wanted to get out of this heat and go exploring. "Yes I'm a saiyan, A member of the mightiest warrior race in all of the Galaxy. Born to fight and raised to win."
His eyes then proceeded to scan the desert. Seeing nothing he used his ki to lift him a few feet off the ground, as he rose he moved his body in a way that strained his muscles, letting out a small grunt from the sharp pain he continued to rise. He did this so he could potentially see farther. Even from there all he saw was more sand. "Where's the nearest civilization? What direction?"
Nai-Ran raised an eyebrow to the guy once he had finished speaking. He certainly wasn’t much for words, was he? He didn’t even have the manners to give a return introduction. The only thing that the Ryashi had gotten out of him was what his species was called. Were all of these ‘Saiyan’ folks like this, or was this one just in a bad mood? Whatever the answer, she supposed it was better than nothing.
The young woman tilted her head to the side and watched in amusement as the unnamed man lifted himself into the air. That was strange; she didn’t see any wings on him. Wasn’t that sort of a requirement for the ability to fly? Perhaps it was a Saiyan thing. Whatever the case was, Nai-Ran didn’t really feel like inquiring about it. She knew he hadn’t said much to her, but there was something about his attitude that was seriously throwing her off.
An audible grunt was heard as he rose several feet into the air. It sounded like he was in pain after all. Without coming down, he asked Nai-Ran where the nearest city was. She tossed a quick glance in the direction of Mt. Paozu and remembered what she had been told the other day. The young woman motioned her arm in the direction that she had been informed of. ”You’re headed that way as well, huh? I believe it’s that way, but it’s pretty far away from what I understand. Lucky you, you landed in the middle of nowhere,” she informed him with a somewhat forced chuckle, still trying to make a bit of light conversation.
”I was actually planning on heading in that direction. I need to acquire some supplies, and unfortunately humans aren’t built for the heat like I am. There aren’t any trading posts even remotely near here.” Nai-Ran uncoiled herself and slithered a few feet in the direction she had just pointed. While it’s true that she had initially been planning on waiting until tomorrow to venture out again, this situation was leaving her feel restless. It’s not like there was much for her to do back at the cave anyway. She felt too on edge for napping and she didn’t feel like training at the moment.
”Feel free to come along if you aren’t too worried about the idea of company making you nauseous. You wouldn’t want to feel sick on top of already being in pain,” Nai-Ran commented as she looked back up at the man. She crossed her arms over her chest after brushing a single stand of pink hair from her face as she waited for him to make a move. Was it a mistake to make such an offer? It was entirely possible. However, she figured that the worst that would likely happen is either he said no and went on his merry little way, or her said yes and she would spend most of the trip essentially talking to a wall. Neither scenario sounded too terrible.
Athren gave her a cold stare and tried to look her dead in the eyes, at the moment his beautiful and bright ocean blue eyes would be quite dry and emotionless. " Hurt? Woman, I said I was fine, I suggest you listen to what I say. As for luck? It doesn't make a difference to me how far I've landed from civilization. I could probably clear the distance from here to where ever the hell you're pointing in a matter of minutes. That's the advantage of being able to fly." His tone was somewhat aggressive and hostile towards Nai, he didn't like being second guessed, especially when he had just stated that he wasn't hurt.
He then turned his attention in the direction of where she pointed. By this point in time he would have a hard sweat dripping from his head and down to his torso . "As for your offer. ." He then paused. "I'll accompany you, but understand that I do not wish to be your friend or ally in anyway and once we get there I'm heading down my own path. Got it?"
Lifting his forearm up to his head he wiped the thick sweat off of his skin. He could have easily flown the distance without her and got there a lot sooner but this was the perfect opportunity to learn some valuable information about the Earth and its inhabitants. On the way he was almost positive he would come up with some questions that would help him in the future.
"Lets get going. If there's any trouble on the way. Let me deal with it."
With this Athren gestured with his hand for her to lead the way.
“That you did, but my ears can pick up more than spoken words. Or was that your stomach rumbling rather than you grunting in pain that I just heard? I can’t imagine how I ever could have mistaken one for the other,” she said casually before letting out a small a chuckle.
Nai-Ran most definitely wasn’t used to being spoken to in such a manner. She had always been a lady of high society, so she was accustomed to the circle of people she spent time with being courteous to one another. There was something about this guy’s tone that was bringing something deep within her to the surface, something that was telling her no matter what happened, not to let this nameless fellow intimidate her. Just because she was a proper lady didn’t mean she was about to move aside and act subservient to any ruffian that decided to growl at her.
“If you don’t want to be friends with poor, fragile me, then I guess it can’t be helped. I doubt I would want to catch whatever it is that’s making you so grumpy, or is that just a Saiyan thing?” Nai-Ran asked only somewhat rhetorically as she began to slither in the direction of the city. ”Also, I’m not exactly sure what sort of trouble you think we’ll encounter, but I assure you that I’m perfectly capable of handling things. I’m more than just a pretty face.” With that, she batted her eyelashes in an overly dramatic fashion. It was painfully clear from her tone and how she carried herself that she was joking around with the last sentence. After all, they needed something to balance out how serious this guy was.
”So... What exactly are you headed to the city for anyway? I think it’s clear that I can rule out trying to make some new friends,” Nai-Ran called up to him as she continued to slide her scales across the desert sand. Normally she would worry about prying too much, but she figured that if he got too annoyed with her he could always just take off on his own with all of that flight speed he was boasting about.
Every single word she had said felt like somebody continued to beat a snare drum right besides Athren's ear. She was without a doubt annoying and frustrating him. The worst part about it was that she was spot on about it all. Athren's face began to get red as his blood began to pump aggressively through him. "Will you just shut up about me!?" He then paused for a moment in hopes she would stay quiet. "Besides, I asked for the nearest civilization. I didn't necessarily mean a city. Civilization equals resources. It doesn't matter if I go to a city or a town."
Continuing on their way he had a question of his own. "How often does the full moon show itself on this Planet? I need to know." He tried getting his mind off of her words with important questions he had because if she kept up talking the way she was about him he'd eventually explode in a fit of rage and go on the offensive. He had already wanted to pound her face into the sand but he knew that wouldn't be the wisest thing to attempt in his current situation. Although if he did he had the obvious advantage of flight. He played the scenario in his head a few times to help him make the proper decision.
"If you're of another race that isn't local to Earth, why the hell are you here? Seems foolish that you wouldn't be on your home world." He was being slightly hypocritical here as he could have flown back home but for obvious reasons he decided against it cause he'd just go on the hunt for the three that caused him to be here. Maybe he could even manage to adapt to this place at this point he really didn't know what his best option was.
Athren lifted his hand and ruffled his hair around a little bit. It was greasy from the sweat he poured it. He wasn't used to this intense heat and it was taking a toll on him. By ruffling his hair he'd hope that it would dry out a little bit in the heat. Of course it wouldn't though seeing as the heat was the cause of the problem.
Scanning the distance with his eyes he was stunned how it pretty well continued to look the same. "Why the hell does everything look the damn same!?" He blurted this out quite rudely. It wouldn't be a surprise if he had done it in the middle of her answering his previous question.
Nai-Ran couldn’t help but let out a chuckle when he yelled at her to be quiet. She didn’t mess with people like this very often, and definitely not since she had left her home world. It was honestly kind of fun. Still, maybe it would be for the best if she let up on the guy a little. Not completely, but definitely a little. Admitting that he was in pain was never going to happen, but she could still tell that his injuries were hindering him at least a little bit.
“Well, as far as I know the nearest city and the nearest civilization are one in the same,” the young woman commented. Of course, this wasn’t entirely true. Nai-ran was pretty sure that the Florian village was closer than the city they were heading towards, but there was no need to bring that up. She liked the Florians, and she didn’t know what this guy’s motivations were. She would rather not bring her plant-like friends any unnecessary trouble.
”Full moon? Well, I remember seeing on in the sky the night I arrived, but I haven’t seen one since then. I think it’s been about a week now?” Nai-Ran answered, tapping her finger lightly against her temple as she thought about it. The night sky on this world was certainly different from Appodorra’s night sky. Every time she had woken up in the middle of the night for whatever reason, she always panicked a wee bit when she first looked up at the sky. Nai-Ran was so used to seeing three moons instead of this planet’s one that her immediate thought was that something was seriously wrong.
”There are so many things wrong with what you just said,” Nai-Ran replied with a sigh when he asked her what she was doing on a planet that wasn’t her home. ”This is coming from the guy that not only is also away from his home planet, but just barked at me to stop asking about him? How-” The man started shouting before she could finish what she was trying to say. She looked up at him and raised an eyebrow. Like every other race she had encountered so far, it would appear that Saiyans also weren’t built for this kind of environment.
”As I was saying, how about a little trade? I tell you about my life story, why I’m here, or whatever it is that you’re so curious about. In exchange, I think at least telling me your name is more than reasonable enough.” Nai-Ran folded her hands behind her back as she looked up at the airborne figure. ”I get the distinct feeling you would become even more annoyed with me, if you could even fathom such a thing, if I spent the entire trip calling you ‘Grumpy’.”
The more she talked the more annoyed he got. He wasn't looking for a negotiation. He was looking for answers to his questions. Not a word more than that. Yet she kept going on to get information out of him. That wasn't what Athren wanted. It didn't help that he was pretty well powerless at this point to shut her up.
Athren stopped mid air for a moment. He glanced around the desert then back down to Nai. "On second thought, I don't have time for you or your useless chatter. You're on your own woman."
Right after Athren said that he blasted off as quick as he could in the direction of the city.
The Ryashi stopped moving as she watched him fly off, arms slowly crossing over her chest. “So touchy...” she sighed. The young woman may have been involved in high society for all of her life, but even she knew that it was foolish to expect something for nothing. Nothing in life was free. Yet, here this man was demanding all sorts of information from her, and he couldn’t even bother with such a simple request as giving his name? With that kind of attitude, he seemed like little more than a child with big muscles and a quick temper. “I suppose I’m better off like this. I didn’t come to this planet to play babysitter,” she murmured to herself, trying to wrap her mind around what exactly had just happened.
Nai-Ran sat there in the sand for a few minutes while she drummed her fingers on her arm. There was no point in going back home yet; that would just have meant that she had two attempts to go out and barter for supplies that ended in failure. Though, this one had been noticeably less pleasant than the last. She had already wandered out this far and still needed to head to the city whether a Saiyan was following her or not. She might as well continue on.
Once again, the serpentine lass started to slither across the delightfully hot desert sand. With any luck she wouldn’t be encountering any more Saiyans, at least if they all acted like that. All she could do was cross her fingers and hope that anyone else she came across during her trip wouldn't be so lacking in basic manners or courtesy.
