The old konatsian (who's name Cipher learned was Tempa), proved to be a very gracious host, allowing Cipher to stay in his home as the library was being rebuilt. He had even been surprised to see that he possessed quite an extensive library of his own, and had allowed the android to study through it. While Cipher had been saddened by the loss of several tomes during the incident, Tempa had reassured him that they possessed backup copies of the works, so nothing was truly lost. Needless to say, Cipher had been relieved to hear that. He would have hated to be responsible for any loss in history or lore, even if it was only partially.
Of course, word quickly got around about his new accommodations and it wasn't long before Tempa was receiving vistors. They had promised to get the temple complete so Cipher could move in, though the android continued to assure them that they could take their time. He was also now called to deliver more sermons for the growing band of followers for the 'White Queen'. It hadn't been easy, but Cipher had been able to spin tails of Reikiko's various exploits, wording them as religious tales. From Reikiko's battle against Vi-Poi, to her contribution during the war with the Saiyans, and even the birth of Yuki (this one required a lot of creative licence as Cipher only knew the basic details). He honestly wouldn't be surprised if he started seeing someone make a sculpture of the 'child of the queen' in the near future. He believed Reikiko might find it flattering, which was why he made it a point not to object. Besides, there didn't seem to be changing the konatsians minds once they thought of something.
Thankfully, he had been allowed time to study through all the tomes that Tempa possessed. He still continued to try and see if he could possibly harness any of the magical abilities that he found. While he had still not found anything pertaining to the creation of dragon balls (or equivalent surrogates), or how to allow one to ascend to something like a kami, he had found numerous spells he could possibly use, if only he knew how to use them. At the moment, he was still attempting to pull off that simple light spell he had found earlier, leaning on the table with two hands before him, trying to conjure up the small ball of light. Trying to tap into the colossus core within his being, so far all he could manage was a brief flicker of light before it simply faded out. Cipher gave a small sigh as he lowered his hands. Just how were wizards supposed to do this? Cipher at least had a magical artifact embedded in his chest. How did others do this?
"Strange how a being such as yourself would have trouble with a simple spell."
Cipher's body visibly tensed when he realized that Tempa had been behind him. He had been so focused on casting this spell that he hadn't noticed the konatsian coming in. Cipher let out a small sigh as his body relaxed. No sense in hiding it. "Magic isn't something I've really used in the past." he explained, "Though I must admit it has fascinated me." The old man tilted his head to the side. "And yet, you're able to fly, and you were able to cast that sigil in the sky when you first appeared." Cipher shook his head. "Those were not spells. On my world, we harness our life force to effect the world around us. We call it ki." The old konatsian nodded. "Ah yes, I've heard of that. Some people on this world harness ki as well."
Tempa approached Cipher, peering over his shoulder to look at the tome in front of him. "Was this why you came to Konats? To study our magic?" Tempa asked, "Or perhaps it's something your White Queen is interested in." Cipher shook his head. "I had already told you, The White Queen only wishes-" "Yes yes, I know. She wishes to bring peace to Konats and the galaxy. I'm willing to believe that. After what you did and seeing your strength, I firmly believe that your intentions are good for this world. However, you must admit it's strange for a goddess who apparently knows about us, to send her prophet simply to study our magic. One would think if she knew this knowledge already, she would have taught you that herself."
He pulled up a chair, sitting before the android. "I wish to know why you're really here 'prophet'. I know you're not some part of an invasion force, otherwise you could have easily taken this planet by now. Just who are you? And who is this "White Queen" you serve?" Cipher was about to object, to try and stick to his lie, but thought better of it and sighed. "I guess my acting isn't as great as I thought huh?" Tempa chuckled and shook his head. "Considering how the others act around you, I'd say your acting is top notch. No, I'm just a cynical old man who knows not to take anything at face value. To be honest, I half expected you to turn out to be some sort of charlatan, with ill intentions for this world. But after seeing you and your companions, and all you've been doing, I'm convinced now you're a good person. If it makes you feel any better, I wont reveal your secret."
Cipher was quiet for a moment, letting out another sigh before he reached for his mask. He slowly pulled it away, revealing his face to the old man. "Well, I guess I should start with who I am. My name is Cipher 24. I am an android from Earth." Tempa nodded. "Earth huh? I've heard about that world, but I don't know too much about it," the konatsian tilted his head to the side, "So tell me, why would an Earth android come here?" "I came at the behest of the White Quee-" he stopped himself, giving a rueful chuckle, "I shouldn't really keep calling her that, should I? Her name is Reikiko, a dear friend of mine." Tempa gave a small chuckle. "Reikiko huh? Would I be correct in guessing that she's an android just like you?" Cipher shook his head. "Well, yes and no. She is an artificial being like myself, but unlike me, who is a mechanical being, Reikiko is biological. A bio-android as you will. She was the one who sent me to Konats." Cipher paused and shook his head. "No, I can't really say that either. We had planned to come here before, but I came here on my own accord."
"I see," Tempa responded, taking in the android's story, "So tell me, what are your intentions here? I doubt you would go this far to praise your friend up as a goddess if you weren't after something important." Cipher nodded. "You would be right. When I said that Reikiko wished to usher in a new era of peace, that wasn't simple talk. Reikiko wishes to establish an empire. The Chimera Federation. She hopes to unite the galaxy in an era of peace, and she wishes for Konats to be the starting point." Tempa's eyes narrowed. "I believe you said that she wasn't interested in ruling this world." Cipher shook his head. "She's not. Instead, she wishes to become this planet's guardian. On my world, we have a position of great importance. The Kami. The Kami doesn't rule the planet, but instead acts as its guardian. Reikiko wishes to become the kami of this world." "Ah," Tempa chuckled, "So that's why you tried establishing her as a goddess. In order to get the people to accept her as guardian when she gets here." Cipher nodded. "Exactly. I admit, it might be a bit much, but I couldn't really think of anything else."
Tempa chuckled. "Well, that's certainly to put in a good word for someone. But one question remains. Why did this Reikiko send you here, instead of coming here herself?" Cipher took a deep breath. This was going to be tough. "Reikiko...is dead." Tempa's eyes widened. "What?" "But she wont stay dead!" Cipher quickly explained, "I know this may be hard to believe, but it is possible for one to return from the afterlife. I've seen it happen. I once saw a man claw his way out of hell itself, and I'm absolutely certain that she can do the same." Tempa stared at him, trying to decide whether to believe Cipher, or simply believe he was crazy. However, the look in his eyes told him Cipher believed this. "Is that what you're looking for? For a way to revive Reikiko?" Cipher shook his head. "No, I am confident that Reikiko can escape the afterlife on her own. No, I am looking for other things." He glanced over at the books before continuing. "Firstly, I'm looking for some way to allow Reikiko to ascend, to make her fit for the position of 'kami'. The second, well, have you ever heard of anything called The Dragon Balls?"
Tempa tilted his head in thought. "I believe I may have heard of something like that. Something about granting wishes." Cipher nodded. "Indeed. Seven orbs which when brought together will summon the eternal dragon, enabling the granting of a wish." Cipher paused to allow this to sink in, "However, the only set in existence are on Earth, and the only ones who can make them are the namekians. I was hoping, looking through Konats' secrets, I could find a way to make something similar." Tempa nodded, taking this information in. "Well, I can save you some time. I do not know of anything like that within our libraries. Your best bet would be in the Kashvar libraries." Cipher let out a small groan. "Well, then we have an issue. The Kashvar aren't exactly friendly with me right now." Tempa's eyes narrowed as he nodded. Cipher had told him what the young man had told the android about the Kashvar's experiments. He simply couldn't believe it. A hundred children, subjected to such horrors.
He glanced over at the books Cipher had been reading. "So tell me, what was with the little light show you were trying to perform earlier?" Cipher blushed in embarrassment. "Well, with all these spells and secrets revealed to me, I wondered what it would take to perform them. I'm afraid though that it hasn't been very successful." Tempa nodded and was quiet for a moment. He then slowly rose to his feet. "Come with me." he said. Cipher blinked as he looked up at him. "Pardon?" "You wish to learn magic, correct? I can assure you it is easier to be taught it, then to learn it by yourself. Come with me, and I'll help you harness its power." Cipher was quiet for a moment, unsure how to process this. Slowly, the android rose to his feet, replacing his mask. "Lead the way Tempa."
