Arynx, having given Belle his information for Galactic Patrol recruitment, had received a message on his phone. It hadn't said a whole lot, but it had indicated that he was to attend a recruitment meeting at a certain time and in a certain place. Sounded straightforward enough. That time had come, and he was in that place, and he found himself faced with a large and impressive space ship - much like the kind of ships he'd flown in until he found himself marooned here on Earth with Yggdrasil being unwilling or unable to buy him ANYTHING, let alone something spacious and luxurious. He looked around. He was the only person here. He wondered if maybe he'd taken a wrong turn, but figured he could at least get directions from whoever owned this ship - if they were home. He approached the ship, finding what looked like it might be the closest equivalent to a front door, and knocked hard a few times. " Hello? I hate to be a bother, but I'm either lost or here for an interview." _________________________________________________ Thread PL 11,646 Sorry for the poopy starter ;-; Beryl Roarke

Initially, there was silence. Then, the ship’s door opened with a mechanical hiss, revealing a dark-skinned, somewhat short human with a yellow beanie, a long-sleeved green shirt with the sleeves rolled up, black sweats and black shoes. He was ordinary in every possible instance of the word except that his power – if Arynx could sense it – was off the charts, far higher than any human being so ever, ever have. Clearly, Beryl wasn’t expecting someone like Arynx to be looking for him. It was easy to tell that Beryl was a little spooked by the bio-android; after all, he had never seen a being that looked like Arynx before. “Uh. Hello?” Beryl started, a bit perplexed. “You want an interview? Do you mean for the Galactic Patrol?” His eyebrows raised slightly. It was a decent guess; it wasn’t like there were any businesses or buildings where Beryl’s ship was parked. “Well, if you’re here regarding the Galactic Patrol, it’s good to meet you. I’m Beryl, the Galactic Patrol’s leader. What’s your name, sir?” Being the polite, professional gentleman he was, Beryl stuck out a dark-skinned hand for a firm, genuine handshake. “And why do you want to join the Galactic Patrol if you don’t mind me asking?”PL -- 232,388; Spiritual Insight (x16P): 3,718,208 Arynx

Arynx watched as a pretty normal looking guy came out from inside the ship. He didn't bother sizing him up - anyone who rocked that dope of a ride while wearing such a chill, down-to-earth outfit definitely had nothing to prove. This dude was probably a straight-up badass. Arynx decided he wouldn't even consider fucking with this guy. " Ah, yeah," he said in response to Beryl's question, " I put in an application with Hannibelle Evensong a few days ago, and I got a message to come here. It's good to meet you, Beryl, I'm Arynx. You might have heard of me." He shook Beryl's hand firmly, noting and appreciating that the human had a solid handshake of his own. Arynx had always believed that you could judge the measure of a person by their handshake. Take for example Edgar Serpente, Arynx's manager at Yggdrasil records. His handshake was limp and clammy, the handshake of a man who barely had the strength to get up and face the world in the morning, of a man who insisted on being respected despite being a liar and a snake. Beryl, on the other hand, had a handshake that was exactly as he looked - no nonsense, straight forward, and confident. Arynx found himself bolstered by this. He felt he could trust this man. " I'd like to join the Patrol because..." Arynx said, thinking about his answer. He'd originally signed up just to get under Belle's skin, and to be honest that was still a major motivator. But he thought back to his adventures with the little Kay-El, and his vigilante battle with the mysterious Sangu. Maybe there was a hero inside him after all. " Because frankly the universe is a shitshow right now. When I was created I was told that it was my destiny to restore the balance of the universe by reviving Rock and Roll. I still believe that I'm meant to restore that balance, but I don't think it's just about my music. I've got a true power within me, and I need to use that power to ensure the safety of the cosmos." “Oh? You know Belle? She—Oh! That’s right! She did mention you. You’re a music artist like her, aren’t you?” That’d somewhat explain Arynx’s get-up. Beryl was sure to spot the magnetized guitar positioned along the bio-android’s back. Unless Arynx only used the thing to bash people upside the head (and that was very possible considering how … interesting people could be), then he had to be some kind of musician. “Judging from how she spoke of you, you two seem to have your … differences,” Beryl commented, not afraid to point out the two bio-androids’ rivalry. If the two of them were going to coexist in the Galactic Patrol, then Beryl wanted to make sure that their rivalry wouldn’t ruin the Galactic Patrol’s dynamic. Either way, Beryl gave Arynx a chance to give his piece about why he wanted to join the organization. The rock star seemed genuine about his response, though the bit about his “creation” and “rock and roll” made Beryl raise his eyebrows slightly. Nonetheless, the dark-skinned human nodded in approval after Arynx finished speaking, satisfied with the taller male’s answer. “You’re right, Arynx. The galaxy right now is not in good shape at all; there’s so many things on, and the SSE is behind a lot of it. Now that they’ve killed two planets and all the life on them, it’s clear that they are not going to stop their conquest unless someone stands in their way. I hope that the Galactic Patrol can be that force.”There was a pause. “I can find out more about your history later once I complete a background check on you. Either way, I think it’d be better if I get the combat examination out of the way first. As you’ve probably guessed, if you’re going to be a Galactic Patrol officer, you’re going to have to be able to defend yourself. I don’t want to put you in dangerous situations that you aren’t prepared for. So, are you prepared to spar?”Arynx

He was afraid that Beryl would bring up his long-standing rivaly with Hannibelle. The dark-skinned human had phrased it as the two having their differences. What a joke. The two hated each other, and Arynx would sell her soul to the devil for one corn chip given the opportunity. Arynx wanted nothing more than to see that woman disgraced, discredited, and her entire discography stricken from the record of music history. Her dumb face, her dumb hair, all of it just made his blood boil and his skin crawl. Hannibelle Evensong was the living embodiment of all of the worst things in this universe.
"We've had our differences, yeah," he said, "But nothing world-shattering. It's more of a friendly professional rivalry. Keeps the fans interested." He smiled and winked at Beryl.
Arynx hadn't paid close attention to the SSE's activity. Saiyans weren't his biggest demographic surprisingly enough, so they mostly went under his radar. Outside of their destruction of Arcose, at least. To hear that they'd destroyed yet another world made Arynx's heart sink. His focus had been too narrow for too long. He'd focused too much on himself.
"I'm not the world's strongest warrior, but I can handle myself in a scrap," he said, reaching behind him to produce his guitar. Giving it a spin as if it were a proper axe, he smiled at Beryl, "If it's a spar you want, then sure. I'll show you what I've got."
