Two Namekians battled furiously, trading rapid blows with one another. Ki blasts and beams were mixed in between, creating a stellar light show from potent, destructive energy. As the two fighters brawled, Beryl observed nearby, hands in his pockets. He had on a business casual outfit, consisting of a green collared shirt, black tie, black slacks and matching black shoes. An oversized yellow beanie was on his head; stylish, black shades covered his eyes; and a golden Galactic Patrol badge, decorated with a gem-studded crown, was pinned to his shirt, right over his heart. The initial contact with the Namekians went according to plan. Now that Beryl was settled here, he could finally focus on helping the Namekians out with building up their destruction-wrought planet. The Grand Elder Village was the main refugee hub for now, established by the resident Namekians with Beryl’s help.
Protecting others was fine and all, but Beryl knew that neither he nor the Galactic Patrol could protect Namek and its people one hundred percent of the time. The Galactic Patrol was an elite force whose numbers were few; there were bound to be instances where someone needed help, but it would take time for the Galactic Patrol to respond. So, in order to prepare for those instances, Beryl figured that it was a good idea to start training the Namekians in self-defense and martial arts. If they could protect themselves better, then they would have a better shot at holding off or dealing with threats without having to consistently rely on the Galactic Patrol. It was a preparatory measure that Beryl hoped would help the planet Namek deal with any other dangers in the future.
While Beryl sucked with ki manipulation, he could teach well when it came to straight martial arts. It was his specialty after all: pure, physical combat. Beryl kept his radio signal open so that anyone else who was in need of a safe place to stay knew exactly where to go and how to contact him.

Word got around that Beryl Roarke, leader of the Galactic Patrol, decided to give free lessons to any who showed up. The prospect of learning to fight for real instead of training in secret, helping others when she could, held more appeal than Belle had words to describe. Sometimes she had to hide certain aspects of herself because that public knowledge wouldn’t fit the ‘image’ Tyler Swyft had in mind for her. As one of her creators, one whose very DNA Belle carried, sometimes Belle felt like she owed the woman for breathing life into an otherwise empty idea of a shell. Everything about the GP spoke to her on a personal level. They fought for justice and the betterment of all, a force everyone was held accountable to. That scared some people, especially politicians and public figures that believe themselves above the law, but without prejudice or vice the Glactic Patrol took on them all. And, above all, the ideals of their strong, competent leader spoke to her soul or innermost programming or whatever. An organization of that kind of power without a wise head could be the most dangerous of all. Beryl seemed wise and strong, but also as distant and aloof a concept as art to a bee. Never did Belle actually believed she’d potentially be in the same room, let alone on the same planet, as Roarke. That must be what others felt when meeting her, she pondered the thought, trying to think back to the last time she’d ever felt even remotely… starstruck. Nothing came to mind so this incident proved a rare event, indeed. Even still, Belle’s version of ‘starstruck’ varied greatly from the bulk of her own fans. Where they fawned over her, their idol, Hannibelle Evensong had a better idea that people like her - people like Beryl - were actual people with feelings and problems and lives to contend with. Fans were just as much a part of that latter one than anything else. In fact, the point could be argued the fans were higher up in the pecking order called 'importance' because without them, Belle would be nowhere. Every chance she got she let them know how much she appreciated their support especially when they donated to her causes. Once a year she brought the first twenty five contributors down to her current project with her and got to share in the lives of her fans. No, it wasn’t a perfect system and sometimes a creep or crazy appeared on the trip, but they were easily handled and then banned from future endeavors. Succinct and strict were the people who always had her back. Still, it was good to know a few tricks for herself, once in a while. Like the microphone she’d custom built...that was a beauty. Sleek, it could fit in her purse or pocket and functioned as a microphone but had a hidden mechanism that extended the bottom into a short sword. Belle had fun building that. The other bio-engineer that helped build her, Nature Evensong, also knew a lot about regular engineering and taught Belle all about it as mothers often did. She and Tyler were currently celebrating their thirtieth wedding anniversary somewhere way more fun than on tour on Namek. As the hover car pulled up she thanked Jack, one of her band mates, for the lift. Very few knew her secret although one wrong photo here might ruin that for her. If she did get called out on it she’d tell them some version of the truth: Beryl Roarke was looking to build a school, Belle believed in the cause, and the pop star wanted to see if it was worth investing both her time and money in. As Jack pulled away Bell put her cotton candy pink hair up in a high ponytail, already dressed for a workout in designer everything right down to her shoelaces. Mint green tank top and tight, black yoga pants, with a black, unzipped hoodie over it all that came down past her butt. Many expected her to be stuck up or standoffish because of the clothes, but the truth was she didn’t control her wardrobe any more than Earth’s President controlled the sun. Clothes got delivered and put into her dressers and closet and she picked out what she wanted to wear. Easy peasy. A blue beanie that matched her skin tone sat on her head, dark sunglasses covering those jade green eyes. A good disguise was worth a thousand and one words. It was amazing how the slightest changes made her unrecognizable to those who had a certain image embedded in their heads of her. She really could go incognito with the best of them. Some took double takes but convinced themselves she only ‘looked’ like Pop Sweetheart Belle Evensong. The truly dedicated recognized her and that went one of two ways: the first that they were cool about it, maybe being subtle, asking for an autograph and the second could ruin an evening as they freaked out. In the former she laughed, even hung out with them, with the latter she smiled and made them believe it, but she left wherever she was soon after. Sounds of fighting greeted her she moment she stepped through the door. Flashes of Ki, sounds of flesh violently colliding, all in all the place definitely lived up to its expectations. Vaguely, she wondered where to sign up, looking around and trying to pinpoint someone, anyone, who seemed to man a front desk of sorts. Her time on Namek limited in general, she wanted to use every millisecond of the free space on her calendar on things she wanted to do, and this easily topped the list. Having ignored calls from at least three of her friends to go out and be...social, something Tyler would have preferred her to do, Belle went to this place instead to learn to protect herself and those she cared about. If she talked to Mother Nature, she’d get the advice to follow her dreams or her heart or whatever whimsy notion Nature felt like imparting on her bio-engineered daughter and Belle so didn’t need that right now. No, she needed to start making decisions for herself. Not that she didn’t do that already, she did. When she took a break from acting, that was her choice, same as when she picked the charities or whether she wanted to take specific interviews...and recently when she chose to accept a movie deal, to get back into the business, that was her call, too. This...this felt different, like a step toward freedom and choice. It represented a whole new world that both frightened and enthralled Belle all at the same time. tag Beryl Roarke

Beryl nodded in approval as he continued to watch the two Namekians brawl. Ever since their time with Beryl (only three days or so), the two dragon-clansmen had managed to improve their fighting skills tremendously. If they kept up with their training, then they could easily get to the point to where they could comfortably handle any fighter out there – well, the “average” fighter that is. There were some fighters out there who were extraordinarily powerful, but those particular people were part of an extremely small minority: the top one percent if you will.
The two Namekians launched concentrated beams of ki at each other. The dual energy beams clashed into each other, resulting in a power struggle between the two combatants. Flashing lights filled the sky as the battle unfolded; eventually – the two beams canceled each other out, resulting a loud, resounding boom and blasts of air erupting from the collision point. Spinning through the air, the two Namekians landed a few meters away from each other on the ground, huffing and puffing. Beryl nodded in approval and proceeded to clap his hands. “That was excellent, you two. Very nice job,” he complimented, reaching to adjust his crisp, black tie. “You two are starting to get the hang of limiting the amount of thought you put into your movements. Once you can get to the point where you can move and react on instinct, you’ll be able to defend yourself from any danger out there.” The space police leader looked the two dragon-clansmen over. “If you two want to take a break, feel free to.”
It was then that he felt Belle’s presence – both her ki signature and her electrical signature. Considering that she had a ki signature, Beryl knew that she wasn’t an android of any sort, but he couldn’t exactly what she was with her expert disguise. He spotted her blue skin tone – which perplexed him somewhat – and the cotton-candy pink hair skirting out from underneath her stylish beanie. Beryl approved of the bio-android’s hat choice; he made a mental note to further increase his beanie collection.
“Hello,” Beryl greeted, voice even-toned and calm. “How are you doing today? Is there anything that I can help you with in particular? Hopefully, things around here have been much calmer than recently.” Frequently, Beryl got people asking if he could help them; he assumed the situation would be the same for Belle.

A crowd seemed to be dispersing as a fight ended and she turned off her data pad to make sure no one would bother her. Tyler, for once, could put hers where her mouth was and just go enjoy that holiday she and Nature were on. Her life got so hectic lately she’d already forgotten where they’d gone. There were topics Belle kept on top of, intergalactic events, new groups big enough to cause a stir and her charities, to name a few. The vacation spot of her pseudo-parents didn’t hit the radar of information to keep relevant. Eventually they’d either go home, show up at one of her shows and, if something did happen to them while out, she’d find out. Tyler always called, at minimum, twice a day. The first to organize Belle’s day and the second to find out how it all went down. Being on vacation didn’t change that because, as Belle’s manager, Tyler very much believed in being as involved at all times as possible. The sound of footsteps close by alerted her to the approach and she looked up, shaded eyes meeting another set of shaded eyes through their lenses...or, well, that’s where she assumed tall, dark and serious’ eyes were. And human, from the look of him, but looks could be deceiving these days with all sorts of hybrids and androids about. The no-nonsense, even timbre of his voice coupled with the business casual and tie ensemble made her increase the potential severity of the stranger’s nature just a little. She took measure, too, of the shock of green and yellow both in shirt and beanie respectively - they spoke of something potentially a lot more interesting underneath. She made note of the beanie, wondering if that color would clash with her hair and skin tone. Not knowing what Beryl looked like, she didn’t know this was him but with the badge as a contextual clue she flashed him one of her million dollar smiles. “ Hi, I heard this was the place to come for martial arts training.” She held out one hand, offering it in a traditional sign of peace: the handshake. “ You must be Beryl. I’m Belle, and a big fan of what you’re trying to do with the Galactic Patrol, by the way, bringing it back...it’s clear you truly believe in the cause.” Beryl Roarke

“Ah, you’re here for martial arts training? Excellent,” Beryl commented, nodding in approval. He was glad that people were showing as much interest as they were in his free self-defense lessons; it allowed the locals to feel more safe and confident in their ability to defend themselves, and it gave Beryl the instruction practice he needed if he honestly wanted to open up a martial arts school in the future. Just from Belle’s smile alone, Beryl could tell that the bio-android was a good person – one who wasn’t all caught up with planetary destruction, soul-eating or any other heinous and terrible things.
Noticing the offer for a handshake, Beryl accepted it. He grasped the lady’s blue-skinned hand and shook it firmly, not enough to hurt but forceful enough to let her know that he was genuine. “Belle? It’s very nice to meet you,” Beryl started, letting the woman’s hand go. He let his own hand fall at his side. “And you’ve heard about me? I’m – I appreciate the support.” It was clear that he wasn’t sure how to handle the compliments. “I’m doing what I can to bring the Galactic Patrol back. Of course, it’s not just me doing it too; it really is a galactic effort. In fact, I’m still surprised people honestly believed that I have what it takes to be able to lead this organization.” With a sigh, Beryl shrugged his shoulders. “But the only thing I can do is do the best I can. Hopefully, it’s enough.”
With that said, Beryl clapped his hands. “Alright! First, I’d like to get to know more about you first. That way, I can make the lesson address your specific needs,” Beryl explained. “First: do you know about ki? Can you use it? Are you able to use it from out of your body?” They seemed like basic, no-brainer questions, but they were important ones. “Also, how would you like this lesson to go specifically? Do you want to focus more on fundamentals? Advanced techniques? Or, do you want to spar?”

As he nodded, speaking of the training, her smile only grew. The way he almost dodged accepting the compliment made her wonder if that was just his nature or if he’d just not gotten enough of them in life. If the former, she understood, accepting criticism - good or bad - was hard and sometimes compliments harder still. If it was the latter, though, she hoped that changed. Positive reinforcement often got better and more consistent results than anything else in her experience working with all sorts in the entertainment industries. True, their jobs were in different metaphorical worlds, but they both organized others and oversaw training of sorts. It must be hard taking it all on by himself, she wondered, but the smile never faltered.
Hannibelle Evensong was an actress, and she was good at her job. As she shook his hand, comfortably warm as it met her own, her own grasp was firm but also not terribly so. Already, Belle liked him. He seemed the honest sort, earnest and stolid in his beliefs. When they let go, her own hand fell back to her side. “I’m certain that once you’ve dotted all the i’s and crossed all the t’s you’ll get everything in order. You certainly live up to your reputation, I believe you can do anything if you just set your mind to it.” It was true, too. Belle knew from experience how hard trying new things could be when the whole world, no, when parts of the whole galaxy watched with their opinionated egos ruling their thoughts. Every day she dealt with ridicule from one source or the other be it press or manager or other, jealous celebrities.
Altogether, she felt she kept her cool relatively well. Then again she’d met people more famous than Beryl Roarke, although none made as large an impression. She thought about the question and nodded. “I can use Ki and I’m not really sure what the difference is, to be honest.” Internal, external, having taught herself through good, old-fashioned trial and error, she really had no idea. “And I’d love to learn the basics, definitely not ready for advanced techniques...maybe we could spar and you could decide which level class I should be in?” Sparring was a nice, middle ground. She did know some things, but her learning had been disjointed, at best, and she probably had poor form to such a renowned teacher as Roarke but that was why she’d come, after all. Improvement would be worth the fight, literally and figuratively.

It really was hard work leading the Galactic Patrol; it seemed like there was something new to be handled every single day, and with the current shortage of Galactic Patrol agents, Beryl had to shoulder a lot of the labor. Belle’s reassurance helped his confidence some, and he was able to relax slightly, enough for him to listen to Belle explain her experience with ki manipulation as well as her overall battle experience. “The difference between using ki internally and externally is that if you can use it externally, you are able to use energy-based techniques. You know ki blasts? That’s an example of using ki externally. I would give you an example, but – I can’t use ki externally myself.” The Galactic Patrol leader shrugged his shoulders as if he were stating a simple fact. “You want to spar then? That can definitely be arranged. Here – let’s move off to the side a little bit. There are several other sparring matches going on right now, and I wouldn’t want us to accidentally run into anyone else.”
Gesturing for Belle to follow him, Beryl walked for a couple of moments before stopping. The good news was that the village offered plenty of space, meaning that Beryl nor Belle would have to worry about causing all sorts of collateral damage. “Since I’m not sure what level you’re at, I want you to go one hundred percent. Use anything that you have against me. If the sparring gets too out of control, then we’ll call it off. Deal?” With that, Beryl waited for Belle to prepare herself. He assumed a basic, simple fighting stance – one that was basically a typical boxing stance, though it was modified for a left-handed fighter like himself. “Are you ready?” If Belle confirmed, Beryl lurched forward. He darted from left to right, his form a muddled blur.
Once he got close to Belle, his right hand would lash outward in a palm strike straight for the bio-android’s chest. He held back though; if it hit, it would knock Belle flat on her ass, but it wouldn’t cripple her or anything like that. He sensed the bio-android’s power, but he wasn’t sure if that was her full power or if she was suppressing it below its maximum. There was only one way to find out for sure, besides just asking her straight up.

As he explained the difference she frowned, bottom lip tucked between her perfect set of teeth. Internal, external...so when she split it was external? The melee attacks, when she wielded her sword, felt more internal. She said nothing, though, of her abilities because spouting those to someone you were about to spar again would give him more of an upper hand than he already had. Belle knew nothing about his fighting style, why tell him hers? At least in some ways she’d have the element of surprise on her side although that could be said for both of them. And then Beryl told her he couldn’t use Ki externally and the part of her programmed to fight processed that information and decided that if she wanted to win she might need to keep her distance.
As they walked over to another section away from the other people already sparring her mind calculated different strategies. Should she split, divide and conquer, make him choose which to defend himself against. Play defense on one side and attack from the other? Or did she want to just go all out and focus on using all her strength condensed into one being? Roarke talked her through what would happen and she said, “Got it. Too rough and we call it off.” Taking off her sunglasses she set them aside. They were expensive and she didn’t want them to fall or get trampled on by accident. Belle set the pair with her bag and pulled something out of it, slipping the small microphone into a pocket before turning to face Roarke on the ‘battlefield.’
When he asked that other question, she nodded again. Ready or not, this was it. Having chosen this, wanting this, there was no way she’d back down now. Having always prided herself on being prepared for anything the world could throw at her, Roarke’s strike still took her somewhat by surprise. Her dancer’s reflexes had her moving but it was still too slow as that palm connected with her chest, knocking the wind out of her and sending her flying. As she landed flat on her ass she split into two, rolling with it and springing back up. All those years of dancing, finding out how to get back up after a fall, let her body move on autopilot. It hurt, and she took a deep shaky breath and then was on the move before she’d released it. And Belle ran jumped back towards Beryl. Feinting with a left handed punch, she’d duck down at the last minute, leg sweeping out to trip Roarke and set him flat on his ass.

Once Belle took the shades off, Beryl knew that she meant business. He contemplated taking his own shades off but decided against it. As he waited patiently for the popstar to prepare, he noted the microphone the pink-haired singer yanked out of her bag. It interested him, and he made a mental note about its presence. What could she possibly use that for? He knew about people being able to channel ki into objects; perhaps the same principle would apply here. Beryl had no qualms about the lady using weapons. He was confident enough in his abilities to deal with weapon-wielding opponents.
His palm strike managed to catch Belle right in the chest. Judging from her complete lack of a reaction, Beryl concluded that the attack was too fast for her to react to. Belle recovered quickly, rolling and flipping back onto her feet. Beryl observed her movements and footworks; she was agile – that much was certain. The pain stunned her for a second or two before she charged again. Beryl monitored the woman’s energy, waiting for the moment for it to explode beyond its current level. It didn’t happen, and when Belle’s leg slammed into his ankles, he fell down towards the ground, only to quickly dip into a barrel roll and spring back up onto his feet. His form remained in motion, and he nimbly stepped towards Belle again, still not suppressing his power. Initially, he thought that Belle was holding back, but this now seemed like this was her going all out. It was fine though; her power was still impressive regardless, and Beryl had a feeling that Belle hadn’t displayed all of her skills yet.
He then lowered his power, getting to the point to where it matched hers perfectly. She’d notice that his speed and power would be a lot more manageable, alluding to the fact that he was holding back. With deft movements, Beryl launched several punches Belle’s way, aimed for her shoulders and torso. There wasn’t too much heat behind the strikes – just enough to induce some pain. Then, regardless of whether his first string of punches hit or not, the Galactic Patrol leader attempted to grab a hold of Belle’s shirt. If he managed to do so, he’d try a simple yet effective takedown to slam the bio-android down to the ground.

Belle allowed herself a flicker of a second to celebrate as she knocked Beryl down but he got right back up again just as she expected. Still, she hadn’t honestly believed she’d be able to surprise him. The leader of the Galactic Patrol must have seen it all by now, she thought. And then something about Beryl shifted and he must have lowered his power to match her own, something she greatly appreciated. A lot of people like to lord their power over others, riding around on undeserved white horses and refusing to step down because they’d rather people fear them than respect them. She respected Beryl more for the decision to show what amounted to respect for her.
At this more manageable power level, Belle managed to dodge all but one of the punches, her own fists attempting to find space to land and do cause some pain of her own. As he grabbed her shirt, she split in two, and the fabric tore as Belle One went down hard, landing on her back. Belle Two sprung back and while Beryl took down Belle One, she pulled the microphone out of her pocket and began to charge her jump attack. Not the normal one, the one that could pierce through those pesky dodges, just in case Beryl had one of those.
One the floor, Belle One tucked her knees when she hit the ground, rolling a bit and sending both feet towards Beryl’s stomach to try and send him flying across the room. Despite both being at half power now, her goal was to literally divide and conquer - to distract Beryl with the hand to hand in one form while planning to come at Beryl with another tactic from behind. The strategy had worked for her in the past and with experience as Belle’s greatest teacher - those DVD’s and TV shows only helped so much - she went with something tried and true, although she’d never face someone of Beryl’s caliber before.
“That all ya got?” Belle One would say regardless if her own attack hit or not, taunting Beryl in a very ‘come at me, bro' tone of voice and stance. Being a good actor, she’d learned to lie with her whole body and showed way more bravado than she actually felt as Belle One would attempt to get up and back into the fight.

There it was again: the same splitting technique from before. So, Belle could use her ki externally, and so far, she had been using it to constantly splice into two “clones” – all part of her strategy to confuse and distract Beryl. Even though he was doing exactly what she wanted him to do, Beryl continued with his takedown, managing to throw “Belle One” right on her back. He didn’t relax in his defense though. Noting the shift in her position on the ground, he brought his arms up, forearms catching the spring-up kick from “Belle One”. The force sent Beryl skidding backwards, shoes throwing up grass and dirt up into the air. As this happened, Beryl made sure to be aware of the other Belle clone’s position – “Belle Two” to be exact. The microphone from earlier made its appearance once more, and Beryl was certain that it wasn’t just used for the lady’s pop star performances.
The dilemma was which Belle should he go for? Even though Belle One was taunting him like an elementary school student, Belle Two’s ki fluctuated wildly. She was preparing something – something big, and Beryl didn’t approve of it. Knowing how things were, she was probably about to scream into that microphone of hers with enough volume to bust his eardrums.
Yeah, he wasn’t about that.
So, he ignored Belle One for now. He blitzed towards Belle Two, left fist clenched tight. There was no chi gathered up in his fist – a circumstance that’d make it difficult for Belle to determine how powerful the incoming strike would be. However, if she was unfortunate enough to be stricken by it, she’d get a taste of Beryl’s ridiculous physical strength firsthand. It was a straight punch – aimed directly for the sternum – and it carried enough power to either destroy the clone outright (if this was the fake Belle) or send the real Belle flying through the air. If she didn’t catch herself, she’d slam right into a nearby plateau bordering the village’s outskirts. Even if it missed, Beryl would attempt another grab. It was an attempt to yank her forward by the collar of the shirt before pelting her with palm strikes aimed at the joints.

Music permeated the air around her, seeming to emanate from the device in Belle Two’s hand, and she began to sing. She built it herself, pouring considering thought and effort into the mic. Despite what many of her ‘haters’ believed she had a damned fine brain beneath all that pink and blue exterior. The musician’s Ki showed in glittering wisps of blue and pink, as if her body spun cotton candy from the air. When Beryl pushed her kick away and skidded back, Belle One hopped back up to her feet in one swift, deft movement, watching as the fighter took them both in during that brief moment. And just like that, Beryl turned to take down Belle Two and ‘One’ managed not to curse out loud. She reached for her own matching mic and the music and singing doubled as One prepared her own attack. Belle Two figured she could either try and take this attack and tank it, or release all that energy here and now. Without the ability to even sense Ki, there was a lot she had to learn just from observational skills alone - but Beryl’s stance and movements told her less than a little. On the slightest off-chance they’d tie, she went with the second option, her stance shifting just a little. In sync, the two ‘Belles’ moved, each jumping toward the officer. As they did, the bottom ends of the microphones extended into sharp, short swords, which Belle intended to strike with from both angles to counter the attack. At the end of the attack, Belle One would jump back into the position she was in before if Beryl didn’t stop her. And as Belle Two’s attack collided with Beryl’s it felt like the world shook just for a moment but that was probably just her. She didn’t go flying, but the world seemed to slip out from under her long enough for Roarke to gain the advantage. Every bone, seam and screw seemed to rattle within as Roarke grabbed her by the shirt, those almost crippling strikes at her joints made her bend over double and she let out a grunt, a sign of weakness to match the pained expression on her lightly painted face. Looking down, she aimed two blows of her own - a foot to land on Beryl’s, and an elbow at his throat.

Well, shit.
Beryl needed to do something about the two Belle clones or this fight was never going to end in his favor. Not only that, but Beryl was starting to think that Belle was a little insane. Never before had he encountered someone who had short swords stored within a microphone. However, considering the Galactic Patrol, he was bound to attract a wide range of characters – especially those who were spooky, odd, interesting and everything in between. Thankfully, Beryl’s fist didn’t get shredded from the protruding short swords. His body was tough enough to take the sharp blades without too much of an issue. However, that didn’t stop the other attack from going through. The blades sliced into Beryl’s body, earning a twisted visage and a grunt of pain. Thankfully, the attack was weaker than he anticipated, and it worked out better for him to just take it head on rather than trying to waste energy dodging it. Still, getting cut by swords was not a fun time; he figured that the martial arts lessons would be weaponless. Apparently, that wasn’t the case. Beryl had half a mind to spike his power for a split second just to nail Belle in the face with one of his “power” punches.
He quickly decided against it. The point of the spar wasn’t to bust Belle up; the point was to see how she handled herself in a combat situation.
Beryl looked down at his body. Was he bleeding? Hell – he couldn’t tell, but it was obvious that he wasn’t very happy about being cut. Frowning, he noted Belle Two trying to escape from his deadly, vice-like grip. The bio-android’s foot slammed on top of Beryl’s, causing him to briefly react in pain and annoyance. The elbow was quickly blocked, and Beryl’s grip tightened, almost crushingly so. He attempted a stunning palm strike right to Belle’s solar plexus before shifting his stance, widening slightly. With a burst of strength, he’d try and hurl Belle Two right towards Belle One, using the clone as an improvised projectile.

The sheer power behind Beryl’s every move was terrifying and, in that vice like grip, Belle suddenly couldn’t breathe. All the air left in a rush, that palm connecting with her solar plexus only made matters worse and she’d have staggered back if he weren’t holding on so tight. His grip was literally the only thing keeping her from falling to the floor and he wasn’t...using Ki? It seemed so impossible, but he really did live up to the reputation. Having been told not to hold back, to go one hundred percent, she gave it all she had and still it wasn’t enough. Maybe she wasn’t cut out for this after all, maybe she’d be better off just going back to her ‘cotton candy world’ as Arynx’s manager was quoted saying. Tyler would hate it if she joined, Belle just knew it. She’d probably disown her as a child. The business end would keep her on, they’d have to, but Tyler might never want to see her again.
Suddenly a future with the potential space law enforcement seemed a little lonelier, a little harder. What if she ever got better at fighting? Or what if she didn’t make it in? Roarke was supposedly recruiting, right? Worse: what if she did make it in, left her whole world and everything she knew behind, and then got let go before officially making it in? She’d never be able to look Tyler in the eyes again. None of those thoughts were new, but sometimes when her mind lingered on them they stung like they were.
Before she knew it, Belle was flying through the air, chest still reeling in pain, as she hurtled towards her clone. Having never liked flying, even in space ships, this absolute lack of control terrified her and she screamed. The two crashed together and then skidded in a cloud of dirt and grass. It hurt, and she knew there would be cuts and bruises to show for it, but she didn’t care about that. The two merged once more and Belle staggered to her feet feeling a little dazed from the force of the attack and her fear of heights, fear of falling, coming to the immediate surface. The mic fell out of her hand at some point and her eyes found it close to Beryl’s feet. From the look on Beryl’s face, he’d been unhappily surprised by the weapon and Belle thought if he didn’t want her holding back, he should have laid down some ground rules. Even with the suppressed power, Beryl was so strong it actually terrified her more than a little. That fear only showed in her eyes for a second before she schooled her features once more.Maybe she should have come in more prepared, but all she had learned so far was all the preparation she’d had time for. Each and every hit she took so far let her know how much raw power Beryl could move through his body and Belle knew defeat when it literally hit her in the chest.
If she knew anything about defense, she’d know she left herself wide open in close combat attacks. She needed to learn things like shielding herself, but much of that came from experience and she had no one to spar with on the regular. The sense having been knocked into her, as it were, she looked up at Beryl because, well, she was short. “Thanks…” she said, “For this lesson. I’m learning a lot.” She knew when to back down gracefully, bow out, make an exit - this may or may not be the time for that. “I came here to see if you had any openings…” Maybe she should have tried next year, or some other time. She didn’t say that last part out loud, though. Shifting back into a fighting stance, she edged a little closer, not quite ready to give up yet.

“Mmph!”
Immediately after the throw, Beryl dropped to a knee, hand resting on his torso. The sword-microphone attacks from earlier managed to leave more than a mark, and as Beryl looked down, he noticed small patches of red bleeding through his collared shirt. He sighed more in annoyance than in pain; it seemed like he’d have to do some dry cleaning soon. At least he had plenty of collared shirts to go through. Hearing Belle’s fear-riddled scream made the Galactic Patrol leader feel bad; he didn’t want to scare Belle shitless. The whole point of this was to hopefully teach Belle a thing or two about martial arts – not to slap her around like some kind of unruly prostitute.
“You did well,” Beryl said after Belle spoke. He glanced down at his feet, noticing the pop star’s prized microphone. Slowly, he picked the device up and looked it over. He didn’t understand where the short swords were stored within the microphone, but however Belle managed to pull it off somehow. If Beryl had to warrant a guess, ki had to somehow be involved. Upon hearing her next question, Beryl arched a brow in confusion. “Openings? Are you talking about in the Galactic Patrol?” It was the best guess he could muster. “There are openings, yes. Normally, I would do a formal interview but—“
He walked forward, hand still gripped on the woman’s microphone. Beryl approached Belle and handed the item over. “You’re in, but only if you want to.” He looked the pink-haired, blue-skinned lady over. “I wasn’t going easy on you at all, and yet you managed to handle yourself. That splitting technique of yours is really bothersome to deal with. Plus, you have a good grasp on what ki is and how to utilize it. In that respect, you’re already doing better than me.” Beryl examined his own injuries once again just to make sure none of them were serious. He was bleeding from his cuts, but they were shallow; quick first-aid would be enough to treat them. “The decision is yours. If you want to join the Galactic Patrol, I would be grateful to have you.”
