Aboard the 'Stormbreaker' en route to Heifong III, Human/Traxian mining settlement The Trip to Heifong III was proving to be an exceptionally dull affair, they had set course for the planet approximately thirty seven hours ago just a short hour after being briefed on the actual content of the mission at hand, that meant that in total with the information from the briefing that Heifong III had been in a state of more or less 'lock down' after a 'better than average' crew of raiders decided to poke there noses around the settlement, they had evidently decided that a mining settlement run by a joint crew of Human and Traxian interests would not actually prove to be particularly difficult to deal with... unfortunately for them this particular settlement was a Fenix Corporation interest which provided the settlement itself with a much more significant level of security compared to the standard and while the defenses had from reports been incapable of keeping them OUT they were doing a magnificent job of keeping the trio of raiders IN, once the defense systems detected the raiders poking around restricted areas of the actual mining operation it threw the operation and then the settlement itself into defense mode. From what the briefing had informed them the settlement sported several defense turrets and a few Fenix operatives, the turrets were doing the bulk of the work keeping the raiders at bay but last report indicated that only three of the five turrets were actually functional after the ensuing scuffle between raiders and the defenses. The last report had come in just seven hours ago which meant that with the operatives holding the line they were almost certain to arrive before the defenses fell totally, the physically 'lock down' grid would hopefully do the rest of the job of keeping them contained so that they could actually land and move out. Time was of the essence and unfortunately the Stormbreaker was not the fastest ship in the stars and while she had little inclination to partake in the ability to take up one of the high speed Fenix Corp ships in general this would have been perhaps one of the situations where making use of that option would have been ideal, of course when they had been ready for departure it had been the one day when every single high speed cruiser was either out on-mission already or in the shop for repairs. Granted the hanger only had three high speed cruisers at any time but every other time she'd taken off for a mission at least ONE of them had been available, other missions were far less time sensitive and thus it was not worthwhile to take the cruisers then especially with the risk of offending her ship. "Hinote, we will be arriving at Heifong III in approximately three hours." almost perfectly on cue with her thoughts the familiar form of a young vaguely human woman winked into existence within her quarters. Hinote pulled herself up to a seated position almost on instinct as the woman appeared "Thanks you Cir, have you informed Kit yet?" Hinote questioned taking a moment to look her companion over, while Cir certainly bore the vague appearance of a human she most certainly was not one, nor was she any sort of actual 'living' being, she was an AI an artificial intelligence designed to pilot the Stormbreaker, she could project a wide variety of physical forms but this one was her preferred shape and the one that Hinote understood to be her 'base' appearance, the one her creator had designed for her, she could pass for an average human fairly easily in the form were it not for the blue coloration of her 'skin' and the fact that her projection had a certain amount of translucence to it. From distance she certainly looked solid but the closer one got to her form the more the nature of her form became obvious. "I intended to inform him after you as locating him will be a project in and of itself." Cir said with a look that was somewhere between annoyance and exasperation as she placed her hands on her hips, Kit was for better or worse fairly frequently assigned to working with her and with that came frequent interaction between him and Cir, Kit's penchant for seeking out the best possible hiding spot and relaxing there of course made it quite difficult for Cir to locate him in order to inform him of arrival and departure time, the fact that Kit was also quite capable of avoiding Cir's camera system made things all the more infuriating for the AI. "If you cant find him in an hour try heading the ventilation system, I'm fairly certain he got a hold of your schematics so I'd wager he's taking a nap somewhere up there knowing his preference for enclosed spaces." Hinote said holding back an amused grin as the look of horror spread across Cir's face as her face flushed red with what appeared to be a mix of fury and embarrassment "MY SCHEMATICS?!" and with that she was gone and even from her quarters Hinote could hear the various intercom systems throughout the ship screeching Cir's fury. It was amusing to see the AI acting well... human. Cir often stood on a strange balance between machine and life often falling into a stoic 'read the data' mindset when not given proper motivation to act in any other manner, however when someone took the time to actually interact with Cir beyond her simply being the navigation and piloting system of the ship the AI quickly began to display a definite personality, she was fiery and quick tempered though loyal to a fault to those she considered worthy of such loyalty. Hinote was one of those lucky few that fell into that group along with a few of Cir's creators and mechanic's. Being on Cirs BAD side however was a recipe for disaster it was quite easy to forget that while Cir's visual display was of a young woman she was instead a fully operational spacecraft armed with enough defensive measures that the ship could hold off attack from even a few moderately powerful individuals. On top of that her mind had a direct connection to the Earths internet meaning that even outside of physical retaliation Cir could pull up ideas for non-physical retaliation, often in the form of mostly-harmless pranks. Hinote smirked as she fully realized the fresh hell she'd unleashed upon Kit, Hinote had learned that such a thing was in Cir's mind would be the equivalent of someone having nude or otherwise compromising photographs of yourself. Truth be told she did not actually know if Kit had Cir's schematics or not, he'd made vague statements about knowing where he could hide that Cir would never find him and of course he was an expert at infiltration so the idea was not impossible. Telling Cir that he had her schematics was mostly just a means of providing Cir with incentive to find him FAST, they did not have the time for Kit to be playing games like usual. Hinote lifted herself up from the bed carefully placing her feet on the ground as if to keep herself stable. Regardless of how long it had been since she'd joined the Advance program she still found herself either forgetting or marveling over the fact that her legs worked again, for so long after her discharge she had been bound to a wheelchair, it had been a wonder that she'd gotten her initial job at Fenix despite it. Had they not given her a chance she would have never gotten an opportunity to enter the Advance program and would almost certainly still be wheelchair bound. The researchers had been rather up front about the fact that her disability had also played a decent part in why she had been chosen for the program, it was a way for them to test the limits of what it could do, they had known that it did a lot to improve physical performance and made the human body even more resilient than normal. But the process was evidently went even deeper than they had initially assumed, it did not just reinforce the body it also fixed existing problems. Most of the others involved in the program lacked anything about them that could be considered a notable physical defect enough to raise any eyebrows after the 'transformation'. It had evidently been equal parts amazing and terrifying when she'd first transformed, watching her Unleashed form stand had been an amazing triumph for the Fenix researchers... enough so that they had been willing to ignore the damage she had done to the building. As the sounds of Cir hunting down Kit began to die down from the immediate area Hinote slipped out of her casual clothes and into her preferred 'work attire' technically speaking when on mission they were not required to dress in any particular manner save for missions that involved specific involvement with important individuals such as politicians, Hinote preferred to dress well even if a fight would almost certainly do significant damage to her clothing, more often than not the sort of stuff they dealt with attracted a certain amount of media attention, USUALLY they could handle things and be out before the media showed up but Hinote had no interest in looking like she'd just rolled out of bed on top of having just got out of a fight in front of what could range from local planet-side media to something that might end up being seen throughout the system. Taking one last look in her mirror to adjust her beret Hinote let out a sigh and made her way to the door, however before she could place her hand on the sensor to open it herself the door slid open on it's own and a barely perceptible blur of black and red bolted past her into the room "CLOSE THE DOOR CLOSE THE DOOR CLOSE THE DOOR" the panicked voice of Kit shouted from what Hinote believe to be beneath her bed, an impressive feat considering how little space there was. Evidently Cir had ousted Kit from wherever he had been hiding and now he seemed to have decided that he could hide from her in here "You are aware that there is both a camera IN THIS ROOM which means she already knows you are in here.." Hinote said as she pinched the bridge of her nose. Between the voice and the color of the blur it was obvious enough who it was. "Come out from under the-" Hinote began before rather suddenly the familiar form of Cir appeared in the room her projection giving off a hazy blue blur similar to an energy aura that a living being might project when actively drawing upon there full power. " Kit you have about two seconds to get out from under there before I MAKE you come out." Cir snarled already beginning to advance on the bed only to have Hinote place a hand on her shoulder drawing her attention for long enough to break the AI's furious focus. "Kit, up and out. Now." Hinote said with a heavy sigh initially receiving only a groan of protest as a response. When it looked as if Kit might actually try to stay hidden beneath the bed and that they really would have to drag him out a dark shape began to energy from beneath the bed lifting it ever so slightly to allow the rest of it's form to emerge with little issue, now out from under the bed Kit leaped to his feet to reveal himself to at present be mostly unharmed though not totally without damage, his nearly skin tight shirt and vest to be scorched and tattered slightly, almost certainly by Cir's 'hand' and at present he was without his mask allowing both women to see his face perfectly for a change and the sheepish grin that seemed to somehow still hold a hint of Kit's usual playful attitude. "No-te shes gone crazy you have to talk some sense into her, she tried to roast me while I was sleeping!" Hinote rolled her eyes from the combination of Kit's exaggerated movements as he described his plite to his use of the nickname he had chosen to give her "YOU WERE IN THE VENTILATION SYSTEM" "Yeah but I was SLEEPING I could have DIED if I hadn't woken up!" Kit said looking from Cir to Hinote with a look of exasperation that would have fooled anyone else but Hinote had long since learned to see past the act, Kit had never been in any real danger... well perhaps he had been when Cir started throwing around whatever she had used to actually scorch him |
