Cipher paced back and forth, his feet clacking on the tiled floor of the ship. After managing to convince the brenchian matriarch to negotiate, he had contacted the other leaders about the meeting. It had been decided that they would hold the negotiations in space, using Viceroy Sleet's ship (since it was the largest and most appropriate for these meetings), but they maintained a good distance from the Brenchian Gemini. The meeting room in question was a large, round chamber, a large round table sitting in the center with five seats, each for the four leaders and one for Cipher himself. Ten other seats were lined along the walls. Two guards for each leader, the other two being occupied by Porsalynne and Charlene. Are their stay on Yardrat, they were more than happy to be with their fiancé/father again.
Viceroy Sleet, the only other leader present at this time, tapped his fingers impatiently n the table, his two Arcosian guards sitting behind him. "They're certainly taking their time," he murmured. Cipher glanced up at him as he continued his pacing. "They will be here. Do not worry," he responded. Though quietly, he did share the arcosian's sentiment. Then, almost as if on cue, the door slid open. In entered Flore, Gomang and Contrate, each flanked by two guards a piece, and each trying to put distance between each other. Cipher paused from his pacing, looking at the three rulers and giving them a respectful nod. "Good to see you all. Please, take your seats." the three leaders nodded, moving to their seats, their guards sitting behind them, eying the other cautiously. Emperor Flore glanced over at Porsalynne and Charlene. "Interesting choice of guards," the Beppa emperor rumbled. "They're not guards at all," Cipher replied, "They're my family." Flore and Gomang blinked in surprise, while Contrate gave the two civilians a friendly smile.
Cipher moved to take his seat. "Now that we're all here, we can begin," the android said, leaning forward on all four arms, "You all know why we're here. This civil war that has been tearing this empire apart has gone on long enough. Countless people on all sides have been killed, as well as unbelievable damage to all side. And despite all this there appears to be no end in sight. I think we can all agree that this war needs to end, and end now." "Well, if you all want to end the war, then the solution is obvious." Gomang said, giving a casual shrug, "Just simply allow me to become emperor and this whole mess will be settled then." Cipher wanted to smack the fat arcosian upside his head, because his statement opened up a whole can of worm as the other three rulers didn't take kindly to that. "You, as an emperor!?" Sleet yelled out, "Don't be absurd! If anyone is qualified to administer this empire, it should be me!" "Don't make me laugh you horned lizard!" Flore bellowed out, "We Beppa-seijin have served under you for too long! We are not surrendering our independence to go back to being your attack dogs!" "You're all fools!" Cantrate yelled out, "Unlike the three of you, I have to rule over two planets, not just one! If anyone has the skills to rule a multi-world empire, it should be me!"
As the four rulers broke out into an argument, Cipher let out a loud growl. "Enough!" he spoke out, keeping his voice level, but projecting it loudly enough that the others heard him. They ceased their arguing to look in his direction. Good, getting them to stop fighting was easy enough. Now he just had to try and keep things civil. "We came here to negotiate, not argue like spoiled children." Cipher rose to his feet, beginning to pace back and forth, "There's no denying that each of you make fine leaders." he looked to Sleet, "Sleet, I've seen how you run Yardrat, managing to keep things in order despite what is happening. The same with you Contrate. Being able to keep a grip on both the Brenchian Gemini is nothing to scoff at." he looked to Flore "Flore, you've shown me how dedicated you are to your people, and I have no doubt you're a fine military leader." he finally looked over at Gomang, "And you. I'll be honest. I dislike you. You're no different from the rest of the criminal slime I've had to deal with in the past. But the fact that you've managed to unite all the criminal organizations on the Raiti-Zacro Asteroid into an army is a very impressive feat."
"But therein lies the problem," Contrate spoke up, "You say that we are all skilled leaders, yet there can be only one ruler of the empire." "The woman is correct," Flore spoke up, "There can be only one emperor, which means the other three must serve under the one." He clenched his fists, "And you can be absolutely certain that we, the Beppa-seijin, will not serve under again!" "The same can be said for the brenchians as well," Contrate spoke up, "We have served and supported the empire for centuries! It is our turn to take the reigns!" Flore snorted as Gomang stood up, "Don't be ridiculous," the fact arcosian blurted out, "What would a bunch of servants race know about ruling an empire?" "More than a fat swindler like you Gomang!" Sleet spat, "Besides, this is the ARCOSIAN empire! We Arcosians built this empire! We should be the ones to rule it!" Flore scoffed. "You didn't do such a good job defending it from the Saiyans." "NEITHER DID YOU!" The arguing erupted once again, this time much more heated since their defeat by the SSE had been brought up.
Cipher was beginning to grow desperate. "People please!" he yelled out, trying to get their attention, "We're here to put an end to the hostilities, not fan them!" "What do you care?" yelled out Gamong, "You're not even a part of the Empire! What gives you the right to come here and tell us how to run it!?" Cipher growled with anger, bringing his fist down on the table hard, causing it to crack. "You're right! I'm not a member of the empire. I'm just someone who cares enough about its people, to try and put an end to this pointless fighting!" "Well, if you truly cared, where the hell were you when the Saiyans were destroying our homeworld!?" Gomang countered. By this point, the other leaders had ceased their bickering and were now watching the exchange between the two. Cipher's eyes narrowed dangerously. "Yes, it's true I was unable to help when the Saiyans invaded your homeworld. I am deeply sorry for that. We had our own issues back on earth. But I want to make up for that. That's why I'm here." Gomang sat back in his seat. "So that's why you're here huh? Because you have a sense of guilt you wish to resolve? Sounds like a pretty selfish reason to get involved in other people's affairs." Cipher snarled. "I'm selfish? I'm not the one constantly sending people to their deaths, just for their own gain!"
That had apparently tripped a nerve with some of the other members of the group. "My men and women are not dying for my own benefit!" Flore yelled out, "We are fighting for their place in the empire! How dare you degrade their sacrifice!" "I agree with big green," Contrate said sharply, "We're not selfish tyrants like you think we are." "That's not what I meant!" Cipher replied, finding himself losing control of the situation. "Then what did you mean?" the Brenchian queen responded, any sense of friendliness gone, "Because from what I'm hearing, it sounds like you think we're idiots for having this war." "That's because you are!" Cipher blurted out, "You've let this glorious empire of yours fall into ruin, and for what? Because your queen died!? I thought you were all better than that!" "We lost more then just our queen," Sleet replied sharply, "We lost our homeworld Cipher! You'll never know what that's like!" Suddenly, what had begun as a negotiation for peace, had suddenly turned into a war against him. Every one of the four leaders had turned their anger not just on eachother, but now onto Cipher. The situation had gone completely off the rails. Everything Cipher had worked so hard to do was falling apart around him. Cipher couldn't take it anymore.
"SILENCE!"
The burst of ki almost threw everyone out of their seats as Cipher's eyes glowed, rage coursing through his body as his face was twisted into a hideous snarl, "Everyone, just SHUT UP!" Everyone had gone quiet, but were staring at Cipher in shock. Only one kept their cool. "Or you'll what?" Gomang replied coldly, "You'll kill us?"
Suddenly, the anger washed away from Cipher's face, replaced by shock. Cipher didn't know what got to him more, the fact that he had allowed his anger to boil over like that, or that the thought of simply killing them HAD crossed his mind. Wipe out the leadership and allow the fiefdoms to start over. But then, what sort of peace was that? He'd be dangling death and fear over them, and that wouldn't make him any better to a tyrant. All energy seemed to drain from the android, his arms falling limply to his sides as his eyes dulled. "You know what...do what you want," he said, his voice completely flat, defeated, "You all want to beat eachother into a pulp, be my guest." Without another word, in complete silence, Cipher turned and walked out of the room. Porsalynne watched helplessly before she and Charlene quickly followed out after him, the doors sliding shut behind them.
In the hallways, Porsalynne quickly ran to catch up with her fiance. "Cipher!" the female android spoke up, concerned, "Where are you going?" Cipher paused, turning to look at his fiance. Porsalynne almost stepped back when she saw the look in the pale android's eyes. Complete and utter hopelessness. "Going to the ship," his voice was completely flat, devoid of any life, "We're going home..." Without another word, he then turned and began to walk away. Porsalynne could only stare at her fiance's retreating back before she and their daughter followed him in complete silence.
Viceroy Sleet, the only other leader present at this time, tapped his fingers impatiently n the table, his two Arcosian guards sitting behind him. "They're certainly taking their time," he murmured.
