(Thread PL: 9,319,747)
“You don’t think people will come walking by and miss the sign, do you?” Vi-Poi’s personal assistant asked him as they walked hurriedly towards the restaurant. He was surrounded by a media spectacle, as they’d exited the hover-limo amidst a throng of buzzing media people and the flashing bulbs of cameras. His public relations officer had set this all in motion, as part of his pre-campaign greasing of the gears as she’d so mischievously put it.
Vi-Poi squinted up at the sign, adjusting his irises to compensate for the constant flicker of a camera from an over-enthusiastic paparazzi who was gamely walking backwards down the sidewalk to keep him in the shot. Tiger Tea was emblazoned boldly along the restaurant’s facade. A line of Blue Banner Special Corps security kept curious onlookers at bay, and though the small android felt out of place in such a restrained situation, it’d been advised that he bolster his media presence.
“I think it looks just fine.” Vi-Poi said. Liang had done very well for himself, and he was happy to see his friend and comrade again. It had been too long.
At catching his eye, the backpedaling paparazzi aggressively shot a barrage of questions. “How does it feel to be one year old, Vi-Poi? How did it feel being convicted of interstellar war crimes in your first year? Are you the youngest mass murderer to ever live?”
Vi-Poi wasn’t phased by attempts to goad him. At least not such unsubtle attempts. “I was a victim of its attacks as well, and I am deeply remorseful and constantly regret the destruction the Realigner virus wrought on the planet and the galaxy before it was removed from my body and completely destroyed.” Vi-Poi responded carefully, “And I am pleased with the miraculous restoration of Namek and those lost in North Capitol. I believe it’s a sign from Kami that we are on the right track.”
He gave his practiced campaign smile.
One of the security people shoved the annoying paparazzi back behind the line, and Vi-Poi waited outside the door of the teahouse while security people went in to meet with Liang and prepare for the media blitz and crowd.
The blue-haired android glanced around as he waited. The South Capitol neighborhood was never a slow one. One the outskirts of the tropical metropolis, it was an area caught between the new-century urban revival movement, post-War rebuilding, and the first tendrils of gentrification even as real estate prices had plunged after the invasion. Although it was thriving with a fresh tempo and energy, there were reminders of those impoverished -- the war orphans, the moneyless, the hopeless beggars. Those made Vi-Poi feel a rare sensation of regret. All of Vi-Poi’s talk about eliminating wealth and inequality hadn’t been just for show. He’d went out to change the system, and while they had made significant inroads, the resource shocks of the constant crises and catastrophes had rendered real progress in the antiquated and self-harming economic system lower in priority.
He’d have to focus on staying true to his promises if he was elected to represent the people of Earth. They deserved to live lives free from fear and oppression of all kinds, whether it was from an ki-wielding alien lunatic or the merciless avarice of the moneyed.
“They’re ready for you, Administrator!” Someone from the inside called, as the doors slipped open. Vi-Poi fixed his thin black tie and smoothed his suit out before stepping through the doorway.
He hadn’t seen Liang in so long. It would be quite the party.

Moving along the street, Walker frowned at the crowds out front, shaking his head. Not a good place to be, probably. Moving down a side-street, he carefully flew up to the roof level, and began "Hopping" from roof to roof, his Ki lifting him from building to building. When he got near the Tea-House, the tree carefully maneuvered down, bringing himself around the back. A number of BBA officers started upon seeing him, but thankfully it seemed he was a known quantity. Presumably, a number of people were aware of him, and he was technically a partial member of the BBA, now that he thought about it. However that worked, exactly.
After a quick look-over, he was let through, being ushered through the cordon. His robes fluttered as he moved, held in place around the waist by a belt of pouches, of differing sizes and shapes. One large one had no flap, and held a tome, quite large in size. However, against the Bio-Android, it appeared proportionally smaller. Slither was curled around his neck like a rather bizarre scarf, humming gently as they moved. The Bio-Spawn bobbed gently in time with it's father's steps, peering around curiously.
"Hello, Vi-Poi. Happy Birthday, my friend." He was careful to keep his voice quiet. It could be rather loud and booming at times. Turning, he bowed to Liang, arms folded behind his back. "You have a lovely tea-house. If I can acquire any rarer varieties for you, please let me know. I have something of a way with plants." Chuckling slightly, he was careful to sit off to to side, ensuring both that he would not break the ceiling, and not get in anyone else's way.

With a heavy sigh Chili sat in the back of the moving taxi as it carried him to a BBA Birthday Bash. The young pup being the hard training son of a former commander within the ranks of the Earth's former defenses, who by the time the time of the rise of the BBA had long disappeared. However his widow and son still resided on the planet and received compensation in form of a pension for the loss of their family and his service. With the celebration of the Leader Vi-Poi they appeared to want to showcase some sympathy for those families effected by the plight of aliens and yadda yadda.
Most of these politics were way over Chili's head, though not a dumb child he certainly didn't care much about politics yet. Nor did he want to wear the overly stuffy tux that his mother had insisted upon. It's pockets lined with so many mints, for bad breath of course, that he swore it weighed more then his common outfit. He was in fact traveling alone currently and on his way to this shindig. His mother had choose not to attend but send her thirteen year old son in her place. "You should meet some of the people your father would want you to meet, they might find an interest in you. It would make him proud" is pretty much what she had used to persuade the pup.
Chili wasn't used to the rented suit he had been forced to don however. His usual red attire hung up at home and awaiting him, all except his father's red cap which still sat squarely upon his furred head. He would insist that it had to be worn even in formal attire. His taxi would finally pull up outside a tea house that the party would be using as the venue. The small Zoan peered out the window at the broiling crowd armed with cameras and microphones, desiring to ask any and all personal questions.
Chili rolled his eyes, not really wanting to pretend to care about what these boring adults will want to talk about. But he'd back up anything about his father, that he could do. Stepping out of the taxi he would make his way through the crowd virtually unnoticed and slip his short and rotund body past any of the reporters. Chili whipped out the invitation he had received on behalf of his parental unit he was escorted inside.
His eyes scanned the room and so far... he didn't know anyone here. Not surprising.
That was until he spotted a very noticeable tall figure that rang some bells who seemed to be addressing a small group, by Kami it was the caretaker of the lookout!

''Whewwww. Get it together, Li. Get it together, come on. You can do this.''
Wearing a formal outfit for once specifically for the occasion, Liang nervously sat inside of Tiger Tea in a booth, slowly swirling around a piping hot cup of sweet tea. His three eyes scanning the room in silence, he looked about from the dim lighting to check on his staff for the night. He had personally invited Strom, Xiapai, and their family and friends to come by, and Xiapai had insisted on using his culinary skills to their utmost and teaching a few of his students he brought along the finer points of brewing and cooking. Strom, with all of his energy, was in charge of the grill. Xiapai himself ran the noodle shop, while his wife headed the tea staff. Hearing footsteps drawing near, Liang shut his third eye and kept it that way, much to the thing's annoyance. Smiling as Xiapai slid into the booth opposite him, he took a slow drink of his beverage as his elder folded his hands politely on the table. ''How are you feeling, Li? This is a very big day for you, i'm sure. This place is incredible; i'm so proud of you!'' ''Thanks, Pai. I guess i'm just nervous. I've spent so many years out at the old dojo that all of this just feels like a dream, I guess. I mean, owning my own business? I never in a million years would have thought this would actually happen. I'm just nervous. Worried. If we end up with a big turn out tonight i'm probably gonna blow a gasket. If we don't, i'm gonna panic. I'm freaking out here and I can't settle down!'' The older man laughed as he plucked at his finely trimmed mustache. ''I understand. This is a big step and a big move for you, Li. Just try and relax. Everything's going to go fine, I promise. You've got good people here with you, and everyone staffing the place loves it so far. You leave the service to us, and we'll leave the media to you. Sound good?'' Answering with a much calmer smile, Liang would nod. He'd already had a tiny bit of experience with news coverage, after all. Ever since the business had begun donating food to the reconstruction efforts and refugee centers, he'd done an interview or two but not much more. ''Excuse me for a sec, Pai.'' The elder man nodding with a smile, Liang stood from the booth, taking his cup with him. He approached Strom, who was happily sitting at the large noodle booth stuffing his face with a bowl filled to burst with meat and noodles. ''I see you're enjoying yourself, Strom! How is it?'' ''It's great! Pai whipped it up for me before he came to talk to you. Kinda like a demo, I guess? Hey, by the way; how come the sign's not lit?'' ''Er...you didn't light it?'' ''I thought you were gonna.'' Face-palming, Liang took notice of a car driving at a low speed, as if lost. Freaking out, he hurried over while cradling his cup and flipped the ''Closed'' sign to ''Open'', then dashed over to the wall and flipped the breaker for the orange neon sign outside. The brilliant light flickered to life, and the car came to a stop before reversing slightly and then pulling into the lot. A reporter in a cleaned and pressed suit stepped out with a camera-man in tow, and by their equipment he could tell the guy was a freelance journalist most likely. Throwing on his business face, he took a seat on the back side of the front counter to face the door. ''Showtime, guys! Look alive!'' Strom, Xiapai, and the rest of the floor staff hurried to their stations. By time they all made it to where they were assigned for the first ever shift of Tiger Tea in business, the young reporter opened the door, flashing a signal to his camera man with his microphone at the ready. He approached Liang hurriedly, extending a hand to shake. ''Ay buddy! We rollin' or what?'' ''Yeah, yeah. We're good to go.'' ''Awesome.'' The reporter extended a hand to shake with Liang. ''Welcome to Tiger Tea! I'm so glad you could make it.'' ''The pleasure's all mine! Quite an establishment ya got here, friend. Do you mind if I pry a little bit? Y'know, get some footage to really show off the town's new hangout?'' ''Not at all! Enjoy yourself.'' He had to admit, the pressure was unsettling. He was so excited to have built himself up from his own hard work, but he never expected to actually be in an interview, or have camera crews running around. Strom smiled cheesily at the camera with his mouth stuffed up like a chipmunk, giving a thumbs up. Liang sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. ''So, Mr. Liang. You must be very nervous, being the new business on the block. Are you expecting a big turnout tonight?'' Straightening his tie and clearing his throat as the microphone entered his personal space, he nodded. ''The whole thing's pretty nerve-wracking, yeah.'' He laughed a bit. Y'know, nerves. ''Of course I hope for the best turnout possible. I'd really like to get this place booming, you know? It'll be nice if this place really takes off and becomes a regular hangout for a lot of the locals. We've got plenty to offer, and I feel like if people give us a chance they'll love the atmosphere, the food, and the company. I'm a South City native myself, and I really think Tiger Tea's gonna be a great addition to the Capitol, even if we're on the outskirts.''
''Good answer! How did you bring in so much staff on short notice? This is pretty much a grand opening, am I right?'' ''Right you are! Well, first I looked to my friends. I know a lot of really great people that are happy to be a part of something like this. I really count my blessings for each and every one of 'em. They're all excited to be here and be a part of the festivities, same as me. They know this whole thing means the world to me and they've had my back the whole way.'' ''It sounds like you've got a pretty good crew! Now, what first gave you the idea to-...wait'a'minnit. Holy crap, that limo! Is Vi-Poi here!? Come on, we gotta get some shots before he gets swarmed! I can already see those uppity official crews out there getting ready to swarm!'' The reporter and camera man sprinted back out through the door, shoulder charging past a few competing crews. Liang's jaw went slack, his eyes bug-wide. Vi-Poi was here!? His hand began to shake, likewise his cup of tea with it. Lifting it to his mouth and taking a big gulp, he straightened his tie for the dozenth time as the Administrator made his entrance. Using all of his will to keep his panicking Eye shut, he approached Vi-Poi to shake his hand in earnest along with a friendly hug. Even after the incident in the desert, he'd missed the Administrator quite a bit. He expected a hell-storm of camera flashes upon the contact of both gestures, but he didn't mind. They hadn't seen each other in quite a long time. ''Vi-Poi! I'm so glad you could make it. I'm so surprised! You always seem neck-deep in politics and paperwork.'' Smiling at his own casual jab, he greeted the more notable guests that slipped in afterward. One guy dwarfed him in height by a good margin. It was a bit intimidating, but he seemed friendly enough. He offered a respectful bow in return to the stranger's gesture. ''Thank you! I'm glad you could come out tonight. A way with plants, eh? I may have some ideas in mind not too far down the road. I'll keep that offer in mind.'' Flashing a friendly smile in earnest, he watched the giant guest relax and seat himself. He didn't notice the short, stealthy Zoan ghosting his way through the crowd just yet, probably on account of being damn near blinded by rapid-fire camera flash. ''Keep it together Liang. One response at a time. Take it easy. Whewwww.''

Manna quickly ran down the street realizing what the time was and that she was going to be late for Vi-Poi's birthday bash at a new establishment in town and was sure she would be meeting a lot of new faces and the other BBA members. Manna got invited just like many of the other members and was in two minds whether shoe should go or not but decided it would be in her best interest if she went as she can make new friends which she needed so desperately and Vi-Poi was the one that accepted her into the BBA so it was only right she went to go wish him.
As she rounded the next corner she could see a big crowd gathered outside a building and she could see flashes going off and a lot of noise, this had to be the place of the birthday bash, looks like it's going to be a busy day. Manna took a minute to catch her breathe and just straighten herself out so she could look somewhat decent for the party. As she approached she saw a few people walk inside the restaurant and so Manna took a deep breath in and out and slowly walked towards the door trying to ignore everyone around her, she pushed the door open and noticed a few people were here already but it looks like she was not too late. She walked over to Vi-Poi "Happy birthday Vi-Poi!!" as she smiled at him.

( Liang @tokoz Chili Pepper @theplaymate so sorry for the wait, finally catching up with things ) Vi-Poi watched Liang with an amused smile, thanking Walker with a firm shake of his... tree-hand... "Thank you for coming, Walker. It's good to see you again. How is the Lookout fairing?"Finding his table, Vi-Poi gave a warm greeting to the crowd once more and searched for his friend. Finding the lanky and sturdy Tiger Master, the blue-haired android gave a gleeful grin and warmly embraced his friend. Of all the people on the planet, his stalwart ally might be considered his best of friends. Vi-Poi laughed, clapping the KAOS Captain's back and shaking his hand. "It seems much longer than a year ago we met, huh? Great to see you my friend, and looking forward to trying your new cuisine!" Vi-Poi leaned in and whispered. "I've started my presidential bid. I hope I get your vote, at least." The diminutive android greeted his new colleague Manna after sitting down. "How are you adjusting?" He wondered, taking note of the extensive menu. To tell the truth, he'd never drank tea before. His personal assistant sat down next to him, wincing and stooping out of the way as photographers snapped pictures of the famous Blue Banner commander. "What do you think about Tiger's Teahouse, Vi-Poi?" One of the journalists asked. "I am very proud of my friend Zhai Liang." The android responded. "He's made a fine teahouse, I'm sure we'll all agree." Vi-Poi's bright blue eyes wandered to Walker, who had been approached by a young looking canine zoanthrope. I wonder who that is?"Mister Administrator!" Another reporter began, "When do you plan on taking the fight to the Saiyans? Is visiting friends in a teahouse the best use of your time?""The Saiyans will have to be fought by more than just me." Vi-Poi admitted. "It will take all of us. There are several Blue Banner members here who will contribute.""How do you feel after a year of life? Will your next year be as busy?" Some lighthearted laughs trickled out from the gaggle of reporters at this question. "I hope not." Vi-Poi responded jovially to more chuckles, then peered down at his menu. Many of the noodle broths contained animal products, he noted. Vi-Poi understood the need for protein intake and the inherent, primordial urge for partial carnivorism that many humans possessed, but he thought it'd be unethical for an android devoid of both protein requirements and dietary satisfaction to consume meat at the expense of life. Luckily, Liang's menu contained a robust array of options for vegetarians. Finding a menu item that was comprised of thick and chewy wheat noodles in a ruddy broth of garlic, onions, and mushrooms. "I'll try that." He signaled to the waiter when his order was taken. "And a glass of your best red wine." He might as well deliver a high bill for his friend, this being his grand opening. Not that Liang would be needing it. This place was jam-packed already. When he was able to again meet his old friend's eyes through the calamitous press, Vi-Poi asked loud enough to be heard, "How progresses your training? We will have need for your skills again soon, I feel."

((Honestly, sorta lost muse for this, sorry. Kind of forgot my original reason for joining. My bad.))
Frowning, Walker looked around at the flashing cameras. It was rather noisy in here, and now that he thought about it, it seemed as though this was also a publicity stunt for the android. He would hate to ruin this. Nodding politely,he backed out of the room. Exiting through the back, the tree flew off, headed back to the Lookout.

Chili's hopes of actually having someone to talk to that he had already knew were soon dashed as walker made a quick exit. He hadn't even got a chance to call out to him before he disappeared. The young pup scratching at the back of his head in some confusion. "He was in a rush I guess?" he thought aloud.
Camera flashes brought his attention back to the main star of this shindig, the Admin himself. He seemed to be prattling on about politics, something Chili was far too young to care about, but he waited for an opportunity to speak not wanting to be rude.
Finally a break in the conversation made him step towards the booth, a bit nervous considering all the eyes in this restaurant. He cleared his throat as he stood just over the table. "He-Hello! Mr. Vi-Poi my name is Chili Pepper!" he said with a bit of a crack in his voice. The dogs hands sinking into his pockets suddenly and searching around for his invitation.
With a quick yank he produced it from his fancy jacket but it was soon followed by a spray of various mints that scattered across the floor and ricocheted of many people. "Oh... sorry. I'm uh.." Chili stuck out the invitation still stuffed inside the envelope that now reeked of imitation mint "I'm the son of Commander Pepper, he used to work for the Earth's Military. You invited my mother and s-she regrets that she c-cannot attend. So she sent me in her place. I hope that's okay."
His unfortunately embarrassing introduction was noticed by a few of the surrounding reporters, some taking photos of the boy offering up the invitation. A blush formed on his furred cheeks slightly as he leaned forward and just slid the invitation in front of the Administrator and scooted up into the booth now and hoisted up his menu quickly concealing his face from any further photos.

"You'll see. After a nice meal and seeing some friends, you'll feel much better." Porsalynne smiled as gently led Cipher by the hand down the street. Needless to say, the three of them were getting a lot of stares, mainly because the tall, pale android was now sporting two pairs of arms instead of one. Cipher had just managed to return to earth, and while his despair over his diplomatic failure had subsided, he still felt a bit bad about himself. Naturally, his loving, supportive fiancé and daughter were more than happy to try and cheer him up. They had learned that Cipher's colleague, Liang, had opened up a tea house in the Southern Capitol. A good place to relax, enjoy a meal, and catch up after being in space for so long.
Of course, when they arrived, they had not expected to see the place completely packed with reporters. Was the opening really such a big deal? Maybe Vipoi had donated some time to advertising the place or something of the sort. Considering there were BBA security personnel, that may not be a bad guess. "Maybe we should come back another time," Cipher replied, turning to go before Porsalynne's hand yanked him back. "It will be fine, we'll just sit away from the reporters, that's all." Cipher relented as they approached the entrance. One of the security officers noticed Cipher and stood rigid, saluting. "Sir! We weren't expecting you sir!" the soldier stepped aside, allowing the three to enter.
As they stepped inside, they could see that the reporters were crowding around a particular booth, all the people making it difficult to see just who it was they were focused on. Not wanting to have to deal with the paparazzi right now, Cipher led his family over to a table over in the corner, hoping that nobody would notice them.

(Sorry guys! Work has been insane! I had a new shift dropped on me with less than twenty four hours notice, still adjusting...) Vi-Poi's earnest greeting did a lot to calm Liang's nerves and warmed his heart. It was a great gift to see his dear friend after so long; he'd tried to stay updated on Poi's busy schedule, but sometimes it just made his head hurt trying to catch him in the sparse moments he was free. Between that and getting Tiger Tea ready for its grand opening, there had been almost no time to spare to try and keep track of Poi's busy life anymore. His surprise drop in was more than welcomed; as he felt the clap upon his back and the firm and earnest handshake, the cameras went wild with a blinding rapid fire strobe. He wondered if the two were going to make the paper or something. As his pupils readjusted with his slowly regaining vision, he was glad he'd kept the Tiger's Eye shut and sealed. The last thing he needed was to expand his cone of vision to the complete one hundred and eighty degrees and take on even more camera fire. Vi-Poi brought up an interesting point; he felt he'd known the Black Magic Android for years, but it truly had only been just over one. He noted his excitement to try what food the Teahouse had to offer, which made Liang's fiery spirit race excitement through his veins. Tonight, he really did have the opportunity to put the place on the map. He was gonna pull out all the stops! He smiled ear to ear as Vi-Poi expressed his approval of the Teahouse, quieting himself from speaking while the Administrator was bombarded with questions; he did take note to answer one of Poi's curiosities, though. ''President!? Really? That's great, Poi! I can't think of anyone else better for the job. Of course you've got my support.'' Internally, of course, he was far less composed. ''Oh, man! My best friend might be the president!? That's so awesome! I'm so hype! I can visit his big fat mansion and say i'm best friends with the freakin' PRESIDENT OF EARTH!? I hope he wins! He's gotta win! That's way too awesome!''
He quickly found himself dumbfounded and nearly slack-jawed at how well Poi was handling the press. Here they were shooting questions at him machine gun style, and not only was he rolling with it like a pro but he was actually making them laugh while doing it! He was political'ing circles around these people! That by itself was a crazy enough thought, but he knew Poi had to have gotten stronger in terms of combat as well. He was just as skilled with words as he was with battle! Liang had his own ideas on how to get back on the training circuit, though. The thought of the Saiyans ever returning hadn't left his mind. He knew he would need to be well and ready at a point much stronger than he was right now! He watched proudly as a waiter dashed away from the table like a lightning bolt after Poi's order, and as soon as the kitchen staff all took note of who it was, they got right to work. After a few minutes, the noodle hut began to belch steam into the air as a sure sign preparations were underway. He eyed the waiter returning with the fancy glass of high-zeni wine, likely to arrive shortly. Once Poi had found Liang's gaze again, a few reporters turned to follow suit, a microphone or three suddenly poked in near his mouth. Clearing his throat and adjusting his tie (yes, again), he stood up straight and nodded. ''While a lot of my time has been dedicated to Tiger Tea, I know i've got a great staff here that can hold the place down once I renew my circuit,'' he began. ''I'm planning on switching from my heavy weight regimen to high-gravity environment training. I'm really gonna give it my all to be the best I can be. I'm not sure where i'll install the facility just yet, but i'll be back and better than ever! Count on it!'' With an excited smile, he noted he'd already used the Big Blu's chamber to adjust himself to some seriously high gravity already. He'd push himself even further! A hot-blooded fire rested within his eyes as he gave Poi an enthusiastic thumbs-up! Finally spotting a brave little zoanthrope approaching the table, he blinked and chuckled a bit as Poi was assaulted with a buckshot spray of imitation mints. He was so nervous! While he wanted to reassure the new guest, he'd let him have his moment without butting in. Turning to peer around, he spotted... CIPHER!? NO FREAKIN' WAY!Hurriedly excusing himself, he slid sneakily out of the crowd and crept up on the table. Offering Cipher's daughter a smile and a wave, he would give his body and the table some space as he eagerly looked to his long-absent friend. He looked a little down, but maybe getting to see his fellow Banner poster boy would lift his spirits a bit? He didn't want to creep out his friend's family, or he'd have flashed a blink of the Tiger's Eye. ''Cipher, buddy! You made it! I'm so glad the three of you could come. Can I get you guys anything? We're celebrating Poi's birthday and the grand opening of this place tonight. The press is a little much, but I wouldn't let 'em bother ya. Poi's got them pretty entranced over there.'' Being that the group were seated at a table, he couldn't quite see Cipher's Vishnu Model upgrades. If he caught a glimpse though or if it came up, then he'd have to show him the Tiger's Eye; the press were all distracted, thankfully enough. He really didn't want that thing making the news.
