"They have to be around here..." Laetus mumbled. It was a nice afternoon, partly cloudy, a nice breeze. The perfect day to spend outdoors. This was good luck, as Laetus was going to be sitting in this park for as long as it would take to find his targets. The bounty hunter sighed and took a sip from the soda can he had in front of him. As he waited, he tapped about absentmindedly on the chessboard table in front of him. After some time passed, he eventually let his head rest on this table. "This is the worst part of the job..."

FERUOS was also people watching. The Southern Capitol was the perfect place for the recently activated android to begin its data collection. So, here it was. In the park, watching each person in turn. It was curious. How did people act, how did they go about their days? What made them human? For what made them human made them vulnerable, and that was an area of great interest to FERUOS. Of course, most areas were. The AI was built for data compiling to begin with. It was as close as the android could get to having a nature. FERUOS lingered close to people, staring at them with it dark pools for eyes. Those who noticed recoiled, sneering at it, or acting shocked.
Some people, it thought. Not that it cared much for human reactions. It was just gathering data, and that is all the reactions were: data. And soon, it came across an interesting subject: a human laying face down on a table. FERUOS watched it from a distance for a few moments. It seemed bored. Interesting, thought FERUOS as it took mental notes. FERUOS inched closer, observing every little detail. There was a chessboard. A human game. FERUOS was familiar with the concept, incredibly so, even if it had never played. Perhaps it should. If only for intelligence gathering. Not as if it wanted to play. No, its only "wants" were fulfilling objectives.
FERUOS siddled up next to the human and tapped it on the shoulder, "Greetings. What are you doing?" Its tone was calm and distant, as if repeating something from a book.

While simply pulling on his cart, trying to do his best to move forwards, Ayumu was constantly moving himself forwards further and further. Simply making himself stop nearby a few people who were sitting together supposedly, hearing the one person ask what the other was doing before smirking softly. Stopping himself infront of them, he opens up the front of the stall and starts to unpack.
"Hey, You two, would you two want a fine meal?, One of you two seems rather bored and the other seems to get in the other his pants"
Speaking his opinion about the situation, he found it best to just simply speak his mind. Truely Ayumu knew of nothing better than to be honest right now. This situation was such a weird and akward moment that he had to see how this unfolded, a certain comrade snoring in the back of the vehicle while making sure that the stall was firmly locked in place. Showing a rather peculiar sign that was cut out from the wood of one of the northern forest trees, imbedded with a small oni mask on a small child that was ingraved while the name was "The Oni's Resting Place".

Laetus looked up at the android and yawned. "Oh... Just... Oh yeah. I was waiting for someone." Laetus looked the young man up and down. Something about him was... off. This kid seemed like he was out of it or something, Laetus thought. Laetus quickly shrugged the thought off, however, as it wasn't like he hadn't met stranger people. "Did you need the table for something?"
As he asked, an old man came up and offered the pair food. His remarks were laughably blunt, but laughter was Laetus' only reaction to the comments. "Sure, old man" He answered. "What cha got in there?"

FERUOS swiveled its head and looked at the old man who had approached them. "The Oni's Resting Place"? How droll, thought FERUOS. The old man still might be worth observing, though. FERUOS had had few interactions with vendors as of now, and it might be worth observing them. After all, organic beings had a system of currency in which they exchanged zeni for goods and services. Most interesting, though FERUOS was unsure why most people simply did not take by force.
"No. I do not require food," stated FERUOS briskly, turning its head back to the man seated at the table. That chessboard still had its interest. The game might be relevant to its goal of gathering data.
"No, I do not need the table," stated FERUOS, its voice void of any cadence, "I simply wished to look at the chessboard. Perhaps even play a round."
It gazed at the man at the table, its dark, shallow eyes gazing at him without any emotion.

Ayumu would simply perk his ears while looking around in the vacinity, seeing the beautifull trees while the wind softly started to travel through them in a harmonious jingle as far away a wind chime would be able to be picked up on Ayumu his ears.
"Misters, I will supply you two with mere snacks for the moment as you may engage in a battle of wits, i am truely curious about how this will pan out!"
Starting to finely grind up the herbs and placing them on black circulair shape that seemed like a swiss roll at first. But upon closer inspection, one would be able to see him take out a small steaming hot bowl with a brownish sauce, smelling like chocolate itself, yet its more bubbly form starting to be precisely stirred up on a small table he placed next to the two players.
"Excuse me for a moment, i will ask you guys for nothing on this recipe, simply try it when its done. Although i do have to worry, exactly why do you seem to interested in this chess board and what makes it that you do not require food?"
Realizing this point that was spoken by Feruos, Ayumu started to have his eyebrows raise up slowly. Questioning the reasoning behind this before suddenly shaking his head.
"One is not simply allowed to pry into another person his business, especially as i have to continue on finishing this recipy. The only thing i know is that even being able to consume what you wish. Live life like you wish how to live and never have somebody prevent who you want to be, just like this old man had his everything taken one day"
As the strange mix was poured out over the large baking plate and sliced up in thin slices, covering the hardening swissroll with slices cut into leaves while soon its hardened chocolate layer was placed on a single, large stone plate. It would be obvious that Ayumu his face had a complexion unbefitting to his kind smile from before, a sorrowfull appearance before simply letting out a cough and cheering up slightly.
"Who is a cook who simply does not feed due to asking for something as simple as money? I would rather have everybody enjoy my food and feel like they are enjoying themselves!"
Before going back into the cart, the loud chopping of a second recipe, hidden behind the cloth yet it was obvious that Ayumu would be able to look upon the match of you two and simply enjoy himself. Or would he enjoy himself? The solemn sound of the cutting board mixed with the echo of the wind blowing through the area, constantly making the empty air filled with sound.

At the young mans request and the old mans encouragement, Laetus shrugged and nodded. "Sure, I'll play" He said as he tapped the side of the table twice. Holograms of the pieces popped up on the board, and flashed between black and white while the game waited for player two to sit down. Laetus then picked up his soda can off the table and placed it at his side so it wouldn't get in the way.
As he waited for the game to begin, he listened to the old mans comments. He would not say a word at his line of questions. Laetus has seen many odd people and choose not to pry anymore. All things will be revealed if they need to be. He did smile, however, when he got a good whiff of the food. "You call this a mere snack?" Laetus asked with a grin. "Smells like a world class dessert to me." His mouth had begun to water in anticipation of this 'snack'. He would restrain himself, however. He couldn't simply inhale this one.

It seemed that the one subject wanted to play as well. Excellent, thought FERUOS. This would certainly be a good time to test the capabilities of its body's mental processor. It could tell that its sensors were up and running just fine. Its olfactory sensors definitely worked. It was keenly aware of the scent coming from the old man's cart. Whether it was a good scent or a bad scent, FERUOS had no frame of referrence. FERUOS was simply aware that the scent was present and that it did not indicate danger to itself. So, it was with keen interest that he sat himself at the table and began to set up the game of chess.
"You will have white, and thus you will go first. I will take black, and I will go second," stated FERUOS, as if it were stating facts. Or giving an order. It looked at its foe expectantly as it finished setting up the board.
"Your move," it said, attempting to lock eyes with its foe.
As it stared forward, unblinking, it quickly spoke to the old man, "I thought the entire purpose of a stall was to charge people money. Care to explain your business strategy to me?"
This was quite odd for FERUOS. Was the old man expressing... generosity? How quaint, it thought. Of course, FERUOS was familiar with the idea of such selflishness. It had processed pleny of news stories about people being oh so generous. The idea was familiar, but the reasoning was outlandish. Giving away goods for free was simply out of the question in its mind. Free goods represented a total loss to the business. And operating at a net loss was inefficient and did not level with FERUOS. It seemed that organics were just inherently flawed when it came to number keeping.

Simply as the blade continued to tap against the top of the plate that was busy roasting a thick stack of vegetables. His humming softly speeding up before letting out a loud sigh, speaking in honest words. His tone being a extremely deep one, a bit of gruff obviously from wear and tear and a attempt to recover its voice, yet they came out in a flow of water.
"One simply does not just ask money from people he considers a friend, plus this old man is able to make itself quite a bit of profit via the method of sales that i am having right now, Giving away things and still earning more than enough for my upkeep shall be a riddle i ask of you. How would this old man called Ayumu bring himself to be able to sell for nothing yet earn enough? Remember, If you say theft that will be one negative mark~"
Before stopping the blade for a single moment and speaking bluntly. His pompodour moving slightly from the waft of wind coming from behind through a few gaps with the scent of a curry like sustenance starting to spread towards Laetus. The amount of time this curry would have had to be boiling for equalled to atleast a few days with the thick aromatic scent being simple yet it reminded of a simple concept. A fathers cooking.
"You have three tries~, As i must also admit something to that young lad there"
Realizing a simple fact before opening his mouth suddenly, the concept of a mere question he should have asked in the beginning being completely forgotten. The manners and kindness that were always shown in his actions stopping for a mere second before thinking to himself and simply slicing at the materials for a small side dish along with the curry. Unable to bring himself to admit that he had forgotten what he was going to ask untill then with a loud gasp he would quickly speak his sentence.
"What are you two your names?, If correct nobody has introduced himself yet and i would not mind knowing the names of two pals who consume something as low class as this old man his cooking"
His tone filled with a certain sense of downgrading himself, he was being extremely blunt and entirely wary of putting himself in a position of getting too much of a spotlight. This would be a negative event towards his goals, refusing to be put so easily on a marker, while wondering what exactly these two their goals were. His zero powerlevel happily residing inside of him as he took joy in working so happily for these two. Not caring if what he was doing was a simple show of something stupid, he was simply glad to be able to cook for people and assist them in a long term benefit from the way his food had their vitamins build up, a little health boost to everybody you could say.

The smell of the Curry was amazing and distracting. It took Laetus a moment to process that it was his move. After he shook it off, he took a small piece off of the appetizer/snack and put it in his mouth before taking his turn. He smiled wide as he did so, clearly enjoying it, though his pallet wasn't refined enough to put it into words. His first move would be a standard one, moving his kings pawn forward two spaces. "If we're friends, you can call me Laetus. And as a friend, I'd urge you not to talk badly about your art." He answered with a smirk. He held back from answering his other question. He would wait and see what his young opponent would say first, though as a fellow drifter, he had a general idea.

FERUOS also moved one of its pawns two squares forward. It was already beginning to formulate a plan in its mind. Its mechanical core might not be running at perfect capacity or be incredibly strong, but it was still a machine meant for processing information. Plans were its strong suit. FERUOS thought in a wide paradigm, accounting for many things, but it was still far too early to make solid plans.
It was also aware that it had been asked a question and been posed some sort of riddle. It, however, was uninterested in trying to answer. It's eyes and processing power were locked on the chest board, gazing at it as if it was the only thing in the world. Still, it would answer the old man.
"My name is FERUOS. And I am not interested in your riddles. So, if you were going to make a point, speak," stated FERUOS. Its vocie was calm and cold, but its tone was almost harsh. This was how it dealt with all people. Save for the good Doctor Breech. Its master, its creator, its primary focus. No, it had a special tone of reverence and subserviance for Breech. It came, ironically, naturally to FERUOS. It was almost as if it had been born with such reverence. It had, of course, not been born at all. It had been created...

While softly chuckling at the reaction of Feruos, he would simply clap his hands while nodding softly, knowing that this was enough for him to realize that he showed more emotion than he first made catch on, starting to pour the curry onto the thick plates and preparing to bring it forwards to the person called Laetus.
"Reminds me of a small Haiku, although i hope anybody will one day figure out what it means~"
Starting to let out a soft cough before bringing out the honest words he had carried in his heart. His face hidden by the cloths hanging infront of the entrance, already having made his way back into the stall.
"custody battle a bodyguard lifts the child to see the snow"
Before starting to clean up the previous bowl of snacks, Taking his time to simply remain silent and look upon the board game they were playing. Not knowing what would happen in the situation laid bare before him.

Laetus grabbed the rest of the snack before it could be taken away. No more taking it slow, he inhaled the rest with a big grin. He then tapped on the board for a few moments before moving his Kings-Rook Pawn forward two spaces. "I have no idea what that means, old man." He answered. "Sounds kinda sad though."
((Can you be specific about your moves? Im keeping track of the game on an app I have.))

FERUOS simply nodded as it listened to the man's haiku. Interesting, it thought, but utterly useless. It would have to scour the haiku from its memory banks later. While the average human brain had a storage capacity that was roughly equivalent to several terabytes, and FERUOS had more, it saw no reason to hold on to pointless information. It would be razed with the rest of the data that FERUOS deemed pointless, whenever its next self-maintenance was. It hadn't scheduled one yet. FERUOS deemed one unnecessary.
But it was FERUOS's turn in the chess match. And it wasted no time in moving. It was mirroring his foe's moves, out of interest to see how its foe would react. It cared not for winning. It could run hundreds of chess simulations whenever it wanted. Its real desire was to gauge human reactions to its actions. Now that was useful information.
"I see, old man," it stated, "Now tell me your name. It is only courtesy."
Its voice was cold. As if it cared for courtesy.
((Sorry, not exactly familiar with chess too much myself, so I'll try to make it easy on you. Also, sorry on the late response. Been sick lately.)

He simply chuckled, knowing that nobody had given an actual reaction, meaning that they werent able to find the hidden meaning behind the grouped together information that he had given towards them, something that could instantly reveal his position if they were able to give the right answer. Yet from the depth of his heart he felt a tad sad for these inviduals, knowing that a certain fashionable moustache wearing guy had brought himself to be able to react to this haiku he started letting out a soft sentence.
"Well, I imagined a white moustached elder to have been able to answer it, bringing the knowledge of a man forwards~"
Before starting to hum to himself while listening softly, hearing the simple method of him starting to demand a introduction. Starting to think about the method he was talking, it was either he was rather unnatural or something else, yet he simply shrugged it off, knowing that the creation of androids still allowed custom additions for flavouring and the ability to feel full or transfer matter into pure energy. Was he a combat based droid?, was he starting to get some fishy information?, He could only feel his mind starting to race onwards while trying to go through the options, keeping his heart rate calm as it was the entire time via concetration. Not a single fluctuation in his aura he then started to bring out his words.
"Hmm... If you wish to know my name, then why are you not showing the least bit of respect by introducing yourself first? Manners start by being a gentleman yourself do they not?"
Ayumu spoke before starting to fold his tools up in a set of boiled leaves that had a rather interesting function of disinfecting the tools wrapped in them, killing of the germs that they would have brought from the chicken meat and other sorts of fishy origins. Moving his body forwards over the wooden tiles that lead towards the outside, with a apron on his torso with the "Bao" Signature t-shirt picture on it, going of the appearance of this stall, how it was handmade and brought forwards like it was. It was rather easy for anybody that the guy sitting there, consuming his food at a rather rapid pace while not even going to pay a single zenni was cutting into the resources he was trying to bring forwards to earn himself a bit of money to live off. One could even consider this theft as you would be given food out of fear he could have been killed, while you ate there without guilt, people walking by starting to mumble about your appearance and the things you have done. Even wearing this apron that was given out for free was a shame for the wielder as he simply introduced himself.
"My name is Ayumu and my comrade floating in the building is Hana"
(I will be putting this up to grade, It has been over a month, if you guys want to re-continue it, tell me and that can be done!)
