As sad as it was to say forcing some poor family out of their house was actually the least evil thing that Callio had done in his life up to this point. Still, that didn't exactly excuses his actions by any means. He needed a place to stay though and the chances of him being able to get a job to obtain one were slim. That left him with three options. Be homeless during his time in the past and sleep on the ground, spend his time robbing people on the side of the road for Zeni until he got enough cash, or kick some innocent family out of their home and claim it as his own. Obviously he had went with the third option. It didn't get him nearly as much attention as attacking strangers on the side of the road would have. Considering that he didn't want anyone knowing about him, at least for the moment anyway, that would have been bad.
The small isolated house in Fukurou Forest that he had stolen hadn't exactly been...fit for his needs though. Sure it had everything one would have wanted from a place they were planning to live at. A kitchen, bedroom, living room, bathroom, and it even had a basement. Sadly Callio was only going to be using a select few of those locations during his time within the humble abode. So he had spent the last two week attempting to remodel the location to fit his needs. A task that could have proved troublesome for someone without any Zeni to buy supplies, but luckily Callio knew a thing or two about taking from the area around him. That and when he had slipt through the cracks in time Callio had a couple of capsules on him; and one of them happened to be very important.
The results of his two weeks of modeling the apartment-like location to his needs was the complete removal of the living room. The carpet that had previously made up the living room having been replaced with a strange white tiles; and the same was true for the walls. Some of the walls even had lockers attached to them, and pressed against other portions of the wall were all white chests. Yes, he had effectively turned the living room into a large storage area for all of his needs. The area itself had been moved from the front of the house to the back, taking the bedroom's location. The bedroom had of course taken the place of the living room; and it held everything a bedroom of this time period would have. Perhaps the only exception to this being that Callio didn't have a tv. The kitchen and the bathroom stayed in their same locations at the other end of the house.
The basement however had the most work done to it; and it was something Callio was the most proud of. He had actually needed a place to call his own to help ensure he could make what had been inside of his capsules to use. To get to the basement all one needed to do was take the hatch resting in the right corner of the storage room down. Once there one would find cement that had once made up the basement had been replaced by the same kind of tile that had been used for the storage room above. Instead of the entire basement being white however only the walls were, the floor had been replaced with red tiles. These details were hardly what caught ones eye though. The main focus of anyone who happened to stumble down into Callio's basement would be the large computer like object located on the far wall. It clearly had an important purpose, and one would be right in assuming so.
You see Callio had turned his entire basement into a Gravity Chamber for the purpose of training himself. The chamber and the storage area it rested beneath were the two of the most important things Callio had on his person when he had fallen through time. Sadly the capsule carrying the Gravity Chamber had been damaged slightly during Cal's trek through time, and because of that it wasn't operating at full capacity. At the moment Callio could only get it to reach a maximum of x30 Gravity. Impressive though it may be it was nothing compared to the x100 the chamber use to put out. When he found the time and the parts to do so Callio was definitely going to work on getting the chamber back into its prime. For now though he'd just make do with what he could get. The chamber was going to be a vital part of Callio's plan to grow stronger, which was merely a side-quest on his main goal of returning home to the future.
He couldn't do any real training today though, he had already worn himself out from all the work involved in actually putting everything together. Actually training was a task that would have to wait until he had fully rested. Only an idiot would attempt to place themselves under the weight of increased gravity when their body was tired. It was like asking for his body to be torn apart. Eight hours, eight hours of rest and he'd be back on his feet and ready to improve his skills. He could feel his entire body racing with anticipation for the next day as he tucked himself into bed. It was going to be hard to go to sleep like this, but it was something that he would managed. The half-breed's eyes shut and shortly after doing so he found himself drifting off into the land of dreams.
Ten Hours Later
He hadn't meant to sleep in for as long as he had. He had really been far more worn out than he had originally thought himself to be. The lost of two hours of training was going to put him behind schedule, and he'd have work even harder now. Gravity Training was already a method of improvement he wasn't fully accustomed to, he was going to need as much time as possible to adjust to the higher forms of gravity. Before actually heading into the Gravity Chamber though he'd need to change his clothes and grab some extra training equipment.
The change of clothes was because his normal attire wasn't exactly...capable of withstanding the kind of training he planned to put himself through today. He certainly found his current clothing a lot more comfortable than what he was about to put on. His current clothing also didn't carry with strong emotions, and memories of someone from his past.
Cal approached one of the lockers in his storage area and pulled from it an outfit that was clearly modeled after the armor worn by the Saiyans. As he held the training uniform inside of his hands memories of its original owner flooded into his mind's. They weren't very good memories either. The person who had worn the armor before Callio had been the cause of much the youth's suffering during his childhood. "Still haunting me even now father..." it seemed oddly fitting that he'd be donning the armor his father once wore. Especially considering he was about to push himself to his limits like his father had forced him to do years ago. He began to remove his clothes replacing them with the outfit he'd be wearing for the next few days of his life.
Once it was on Callio couldn't help but feel strange wearing it. It was a perfect fit for him though, and that was thoroughly surprising. His father had been a large and bulky Saiyan, but these things were suppose to form to the wearer's body so it made some form of sense inside of Callio's mind. He tilted his head towards his left to examine the single shoulder pad that stuck out, it add a bit of...flare to the overall design the armor. It also made him feel like some kind of romanian gladiator but that wasn't to far from the truth now was it? Truthfully he was just lucky that he and his father had the same sense of style when it came to the color of the armor. Black with hints of red and gold through the armor, it was almost as if the damn thing had been with Callio's future taste in mind. That was absurd right? Surely his father couldn't have known that Callio would one day come to wear his own armor. He let out a sigh again and shook his head, didn't need to be worrying about that.
He took a deep breath and then made his way down into the basement, making sure to close and lock the hatch leading to it behind him. He doubted the original owners of this little cottage would be making a return appearance after having been gone nearly two weeks, but just in case he didn't want them stumbling in on him. He then pressed a button located on the gauntlet of his armor and a little hatch opened up that contained an assortment of capsules. He clicked each one and tossed them into the air and as each one exploded into a puff white dust a spherical training droid took its place. Each droid hovered above the red floor at a different location, Callio himself had stepped up into the center of the room.
He closed his eyes and attempted to brace his body for the amount of pressure he was about to place upon it. He knew however that no amount of preparation was going to be able to truly prepare him for this. "Active Gravity Times Ten." as he spoke the Gravity Chamber began to spring to life around him.
"Activating Gravity."
The once white room began to grow dark, taking on an intense shade of red as the AI within the Gravity Chamber forced the gravity on. Almost instantly Callio found his body being forced towards the ground, "Gaah!" he screamed as he attempted to pick himself up. It felt as though every single bone in his body was about to shatter and impale his internal organs. He managed to tilt his head upward, and saw that the training spheres were still floating within the air without so much as an issue. Wasn't that fucking fantastic? He could barely managed to keep his head up and here those spheres were taunting him. He wasn't about to let himself be outclassed by those stupid pieces of machinery. He let out a low growl and let his anger take him over. Anger had always been a good source of power for him and hopefully it help through this.
He slowly began to push himself up from the ground. He'd rise up a couple of inches at a time and then bam the force of the gravity would push him back towards the ground. He attempted this several times, and each time he failed it only filled him with more and more anger. Which in turn only fueled his attempted to try again, and it was a pattern that repeated itself for the last five hours. five long hours of trying and Callio had only just managed to get his knees touching the floor. "Come on Callio you can do this!" once more he let the overwhelming amount of anger inside of him take over, and he attempted to raise himself from his graveling position. "YOU CAN FUCKING DO THIS CALLIO!" His right knees barely made it off of the ground before the pressure of chamber slammed him back towards the ground again.
Callio's breathing was heavy and his entire body was drenched in sweat and as a result the tiles below him were drenched in it as well. His hair was wet and its crimson locks draped over Callio's face a he kneeled on the ground. Anger alone was only going to be able to get him so far during this. It was the only thing he could think of though, the only real emotion he had in himself that be able to push him far enough along. "No..." he muttered to himself, there was something else. He hadn't felt it in such a long time but it was certainly a lot stronger than his rage. At least...it had been before everything in his life had went to shit. Love. An emotion he hadn't felt since Sarah died, and quite frankly he wasn't sure he'd able to feel again. Still, he had been able to do so much because of her. She had pushed himself along during his hardest time, and maybe she'd be able to do so now? She wasn't here anymore but he still had those memories, and he still had the hope that he'd be able to go back and save her.
He closed his eyes and let those old feelings and memories wash over him. He let the desire and hope that their was a chance he'd be able to save her from death fuel his actions. His ki began to rise, small streams of red ki began to leak out from Callio's body as he began to lift himself up. It certainly wasn't easy, and his attempts were made with failure but this time it was different. This time he had far stronger emotions guiding his attempts to withstand the gravity, and his willpower was amazing. The streams of ki from his body began to engulf Callio in a vibrant red aura as he slowly began to rise once more. This final time however he wasn't met with nearly as much resistance, and sure enough he was now standing. At least partially anyway, his back was hunched over in a most uncomfortable of positions. It didn't stay like that for much longer though, because minutes later Callio found himself standing upright once again.
He was tired though, and despite how badly he wanted to keep going he knew that he wouldn't be able to. His entire body ached right now and any attempt at training now would be fruitless. Besides it certainly felt he had accomplished something today, and that's all that really mattered. He would think of today as a trail run, and would truly begin his training inside of the Gravity Chamber tomorrow. "Gravity Off." the words were spoken and the room lost its red tint. Callio also felt all the pressure being placed on his body gone now, and his body seemed thankful for that.
A Day and A Half Later
He wasn't even upset about how long he had slept in, after yesterday's events he had needed all the sleep he could get. He probably could have slept in for an entire week if he was being honest with himself, but that wasn't exactly an option right now. He needed to get stronger and then he needed to figure out what he planned to do next. The second thing on his to-do list would have to wait until much later though, right now he needed to focus his attention solely on the first task.
The Gravity Chamber looked exactly like he left the other day. The orbs still floating above the ground, his sweat still drenched the floor, and his pride was likely down there somewhere as well. He let out a sigh and then approached the center of the room once more, and just like before he braced himself for the increase in gravity. "Active Gravity Time Ten." the room took on its dark red tint once more and Callio felt his body grow heavy. This time however he wasn't pushed towards the ground the second it turned itself on. It actually felt as though his body had grown at least slight accustom to the increase in gravity, and that was amazing. The half-saiyan took step forward and while it was difficult he still managed to do it. He took another step forward, and then another, followed by one more. Each time he moved his legs the task got easier and easier for his body to perform.
He kept up this walking pattern for a solid hour and by that time Callio felt even further reassured of his ability to handle the gravity. Enough so that he'd give actually throwing a few punches a try. He pulled his arm back and then rush it forward, it wasn't nearly as fast as his normal punch but nonetheless he had managed it. Shadow Boxing against thin air wasn't fun but it was needed. Especially before he even attempted anything of a more complex nature within the chamber. He needed the increase in gravity to not feel like it was present on his body, that way he could move at his normal speed.
Another hour of time passed as Callio boxed the empty air around, it had even gotten to the point where he was even throwing in a few kicks for good measure. As the moments passed on he could feel even more of the pressure being lifted from his body. A resulting effect of this being that now Callio was moving at a faster rate before, and at first it was hardly noticeable but as that hour turned into two and then into three it became clear to him. He was still far below his normal level of speed but this would be enough for him to attempt what he had came here to do in the first place. Learn a new type of attack. His Explosive Wave and Bloody Cannon were decent techniques but you could only perform the same two moves in battle a certain number of times before the enemy realized what to look out for. Thus he needed to add something new to arsenal, and he knew just the move. Crimson Grenade, a ki attack that Callio had seen his father use quite a few times during his youth. If the Bloody Cannon was Cal's signature move then Crimson Grenade had been his father's. It was only natural that the son inherit the move of the father right?
Truth be told he hadn't actually set out with the goal of learning that specific technique in his mind. It was only after putting on his father's old Saiyan Armor that Callio decided that he'd focus his time in learning the Crimson Grenade. There was only one real problem with this however, and it was a pretty big one. Learning a technique someone else has used was going to be hard when the person who knows it isn't here to teach it to you. Which meant that the only thing Callio had to go off was his own memory and while he prided himself on being able to recall his past with perfect clarity, wasn't exactly going to make it easier. He took a deep breath and centered himself, forcing the memories he had of his father use of the move to come into his mind.
It always started with the ki being placed into the palm of the hand, simple enough. Forming ki into the palm of one's hand was a task that anyone with at least basic knowledge of ki could perform. Callio opened his right hand fully and allowed his ki to pass from the center of his body into his hand. He then forced the ki out from inside of his body into the outside, giving it the shape of a sphere. This was exactly how his father perform the attack right? It seemed so strange how something as simple as a ki sphere had so much power behind it. "He had to have done something else to it..." and he was right. As Callio searched further down into his memories he pictured how his dad use to through the sphere, underhanded. It was almost as if he was trying to secretly toss something forward.
Cal turned himself towards on the training droids that surrounded him and narrowed his eyes. He flung his wrist and tossed the sphere within his hand in an underhanded fashion,. It flew forward at a rather relaxed placed and hit against the training done, which reacted by placing an energy field around itself before impact. A small explosion took place but other than that nothing. "No, that's wrong." he muttered. It could have just been the gravity but Callio was sure that the Crimson Grenade moved at a faster speed, and the shape itself seemed wrong. It was more oval shaped right. It also had far more explosive power than the one he had just tossed out before. He'd try it again, this time changing the shape and increasing the power he put into it.
The red oval of ki appeared within Callio's hand and it was much larger than before a clear sign he was packing more energy into the damn thing. A flick of his wrist in an underhanded motion was given once more and the sphered launched outward, this time going far slower but it's impact with the droid caused a far large explosion. "Still fucking wrong." but what was he doing wrong? Obviously that time he had been putting far too much power into and the shape had managed to reduce the speed even further. "You've seen this thing a hundred fucking times Cal, you should be able to do this." insulting himself certainly didn't help but it made him feel like it was going to. He closed his eyes and dug further into his memories and that's when he remembered the shape of the attack. A crescent like shape, almost like his father had been tossing the moon from his hand.
A smirk passed across Callio's feature as he formed the ki into his hand, forcing it to take the shape of a crescent like sphere. He didn't put nearly as much power into this one, but he made sure to add more than his first attempt. "Here goes nothing." he tossed the ki attacked underhanded and the sphere went whizzing through the air at an incredible speed. It went by so fast the training droid didn't even have time to pick up it was in danger and was unable to pull up its shield in time. The resulting explosion was not only a fairly decent size but had also blown the machine apart. The smirk on his face grew wider and he felt accomplished. So much so that he began to tried it several more times, "Crimson Grenade!" he would call out with each successful attempt at the attack.
He spent at least an entire hour doing it before figuring that six or seven hours inside of the chamber was enough for today. He shut everything down and left, planning to return in a few days. He needed to rest now, something he was sure his body would thank him.
