hands of time
DAY AFTER DAY, LIKE A LIFETIME AWAY, I KEEP HOLDIN' ON
You can live your whole life under the idea that you're better than someone. That while they are the scum of the Earth and the most worthless piece of trash the universe has to offer, you will never stoop to their level. That's the way Callio looked at his father Kail. He hated him so much, and it was because of the hatred towards the man who help birth him that he swore to himself. Swore that he'd never allow himself to become like his father. This single minded thought had pushed Callio through every one of his father's lessons. Yet. As the two of them stood in that dark, damp, and otherworldly cave he found himself giving in.
His father's words of hatred and pain being able to empower you to levels higher than one could ever imagine began to taint his mind. A small suggestive idea acting like a virus inside of the eleven year old's mind. He had tossed everything at his father and yet the man stood before him unscratched, a glowing beacon of red in the darkness that surrounded them. Callio had known his father was strong; but reason for his strength had escaped him since their days of training had started. It was only now that he truly understood why is father surpassed him in strength, and it had nothing to do with age or experience. Inside of the boy's mind it was crystal clear.
Kail hated Callio far more than Callio hated him. His anger and hatred were nothing in comparison to Callio's own. If Callio was an ember than his father was a roaring flame that wished to consume Cal whole. It was this stunning realization that brought visible fear to Cal's features. His body trembled under the now overwhelming power his father allowed to escape from his body. The half-saiyan's body began to act on its own as he took a step backwards. He didn't stand a chance against this. His father didn't want to bring out his inner power, he had just been toying with Cal from the start.
The large brute of a Saiyan that was his father let out a heavy chuckle and took a step forward, "You understand now don't you?" it was question that didn't need an answer. Kail allowed more Ki to escape from his body and the very area around him began to fold. Callio could see the floor beneath his father break apart with each singular step that he took. "You could come at me a hundred different ways and I would beat every time." a wide grin spread across his features.
"So you...just want to kill me don't you? You're weakling son." if that was truly his father's goal then why even bother training him in the first place?
"Foolish child I meant what I said before. I want to awaken your true power. You have no idea how deep the well of power within you goes and that is what makes hate you." Kail dashed forward at a blinding speed and brought his leg up towards his son side. It made contact in matter of seconds and despite the display of power he was giving off; he lessened the level of power within the strike. Nonetheless the damage had been dealt and Cal was sent flying sideways and towards a stalagmite. His body tore through it and began to tumble against the ground moans of pain escaping from his lips with each painful roll. "Rise." barked Kail.
He couldn't. Why even bother fighting? Despite everything his father might have been telling him Callio couldn't help but view it as lie. His father had just admit to hating him after all. If you hate someone so much then why bother improving them? You couldn't hate and love right? Callio began to cough painful and through his coughing fits he was able to hear his father approaching. I said rise or I'll make it worse." the level of threat within his voice made it all to real. The young boy attempted to push himself upward but all his strength had left him after his previous assault against his father. Was that all his anger could offer him? Just a tiny moment of strength.
"Search you body for the power you know is within you." he kicked Cal and once more the boy was sent tumbling against the ground.
"I..I can't...there's...nothing...left." he could still feel the Ki present within his body but it was so far away. He could keep chasing after it but it just kept getting farther and farther away from him as he ran.
"If you cannot find it then you will die." Kail pointed a hand towards his the toned Callio and sent forth a sphere of red Ki. He hadn't put his full power into the attack but plenty enough for Callio to feel a great deal of pain. The youth cried out as the blast hit him flipping him over onto his back. His body was sprawled out on the cave floor; battered and bruised with blood leaking from his nose. His entire body hurt; it was like every single one of his nerve endings were on fire. He was going to die. As he took deep breathes the fear of each one being his last washed over him.
"Try Cal...damn it." the thought slip itself inside of his mind as he once more tried to draw forth the power his father wanted from him. He reached out towards the hidden power within him; his fingers loosely touching against the hidden wealth of Ki within him. That small interaction was just enough to give Cal the strength he needed. His aura spiked once more taking the shape of flames and his body slowly rose up from the ground. "Is this what you wanted father?" he could feel all the power washing over him like a tidal wave.
"Yes. YES! LET IT FLOW!"
There was so much of it that he barely keep it check; he could feel himself losing control of it. If he didn't act quickly it would be lost. A might roar escaped from Cal's lips as he took a step forward the cave cracking under his sudden spike of power once more. "Use it boy; and fight me." his father's words echoed inside of his mind as he charged forward at a rapid pace. He spun his body as he moved flying upward and landing a kick against his father's face with enough force behind it to move him to the side slightly.
His brute of a father countered by grabbing hold of him; but Cal had learned his lesson the first time he was thrown. He built up his Ki around his foot and began to push it outward; the sheer force of it caused his father to loosen his grip. "Bloody Cannon! he shouted as he pointed his hands towards his father's chest the beam of pure energy not only pushing him free from his father's hold but also allowed him to damage the monster of a saiyan.
"You fancy that move but let's see how you handle a real Ki attack." Kail's Ki built itself up within the palm of his hands in mere seconds and then he flung it forward it. "Crimson Grenade ." the crescent shaped energy impacted against the still airborne Cal and exploded in a hue of bright red. Cal was sent flying upward and his body slammed against the cave's ceiling. The sheer impact from the blow caused blood to escape from his lips. He had little time to focus on the pain though and forced himself to recover quickly.
He could feel himself losing the hidden power within himself now. It was starting to run away from him again, and if he was going to prove himself he'd need to act fast. From up above his father Cal began to build up his Ki within his hands once more; assuming the stance needed for his Bloody Cannon. His knee buckles and the small sphere of energy within the empty space between his hands began to grow. "Bl- it grew larger ood he was going to put every lost drop of his power into this one. The sphere of crimson energy had reached it maximum size; it almost appeared to be like a beach ball in size. Callio pushed his hands forward a large beam of red energy escaping from them and heading straight towards his father at an incredible speed; "CANNON!" then his father was enveloped by the energy.
Cal just kept screaming as his energy poured out of him and when it was done, when there was nothing but a massive hole from where his attack had landed. He collapsed. His body flying from the sky and hitting against the rocky floor with a heavy thud, and as his vision began to fade he saw his father standing in front of him. A grin spread across his lips, "Well done Callio, well done."
