After the events of the invasion, Liang had mostly kept himself scarce. Not sure how to come to terms with his new eye resting on his forehead, he had spent quite some time away from civilization, trying to find out how to close it at will, and found out he couldn't. Even taking footage with a junky old camera revealed it was still open when he slept, darting around like it was trying to watch his back. He did find one thing that worked, though; head-wear. Through trial and error, he had figured out that if he kept the thing covered up for long enough it would settle down, almost like it was taking a nap. Due to this newly found fact, he had made a recent trip to a still-intact store in South City wearing an improvised headband and bought up plenty of bandannas in differing styles and colors. Deciding on casual clothing before his outing today, he decided on a pair of brown boots, blue jeans, a tight sleeveless shirt and a loose, comfortable vest. Passing by a mirror as he held one of his new bandannas in his hand, the third eye gave an accusing look in between darting left and right, and Liang raised the article of clothing and slipped it over his head, down far enough to cover the thing up. ''Yeah, yeah. Complain all you want, but it's nap time.'' On his nearly-junk small television set in the one-day dojo, he flipped the channel to the South City news network and watched as the cleanup and reconstruction efforts got under way. Nodding, he silently stood and walked to the front door before taking off in flight to pay a visit to the nearby city. Not long after touching down, he spotted some relief staff.
''Hey there. My name's Liang, I...fought in this invasion. I'm here to help, is there anywhere in particular you need me to work?'' Looking very much relieved to have him there, a young man about his age strokes his own thin bearded face for a moment. ''We've put a dent in all this, that's for sure, but there's still places all over the city that need an extra pair of hands. You could clear out rubble and leave the construction to the crews, if you want. You could also pass out supplies wherever you see a tent running low. ''Sounds great. I'll take care of the heavy lifting. If you want to radio in to your supply crews, tell them i'll take a radio if they can spare one for if anything comes up, yeah?'' With a nodding smile, the young man sent Liang on his way, pointing him to a particularly troublesome collapsed building with a dump truck nearby. As the exhausted construction crews continued to move rubble both by hand and machine, Liang's arrival was very much a welcome thing; directing them to push the rubble into piles where he could more easily move them to give them a break, he removed his vest and got to work. Heaving huge chunks of concrete and debris over his head one large mass at a time, he hurled them up into the massive dump truck's bed, starting to work up a sweat. A young woman passed by with a case of water bottles between her arms, passing them out one by one to the crew and the nearby refugees that had come to help or watch. Uncapping his newly acquired ice cold water, he took a long, refreshing drink before dumping a little in the palm of his hand and wetting his face with it.
Recapping it, he walked back into the thick of the mess and waved the dump truck to pull closer, getting right back to work. He considered South City his home city now, being it was so close to his current home. He was fully prepared to bust his butt all day long to help with the clean-up. Falling into a rotation of heaving a few chunks of debris then taking a drink of water, the cute girl that had passed out water earlier made a few trips over the next hours' time to keep everyone hydrated. He could smell a large pot of food cooking, too; his stomach rumbled and his mouth watered after the back-breaking work, and he couldn't wait to sit and chow down. After the hour had passed, he'd made a sizable dent in the relief efforts. A portly refugee blinked as Liang was now sufficiently warmed up. ''Whoa, man. What's your workout plan? You're chewing right through this stuff like you've done it your whole life. You said you fought in the middle of all this, didn't ya? I guess I shouldn't be surprised.'' ''I'm a martial artist, actually. I'm trying to rebuild the School I come from, but this is way more important right now, y'know?'' ''Really? That's awesome! I bet you've got all kinds of crazy moves. Look me up down the line, i'll join for sure!''
It was nice to feel like a civilian sometimes.

[Thread PL: 31,538]
It had been a while since Defrosch was in South Capitol, the last time he was here he came across the Turtle School Dojo and met Zexama... Well, he wouldn't dwell on the somewhat embarrassing experience in having the Junior Turtles testing their Kamehamehas (and mud throwing skills) on him for long, after all there were more important matters to attend to; cleaning up the mess so things could get back to normal- or as normal as they could get that is.
Compared to the almost absolute erasure of North Capitol, South Capitol was looking a lot better. Although the minor damage in West Capitol wasn't anything like this, Defrosch was... Lets say 'glad' to see that South Capitol wasn't entirely flattened.
As he floated further into the city, he noticed a slightly busted crane being put to use lifting a giant piece of rubble. The crane made creaking sounds as it moved, it was probably about to break if it was strained any further. With that in mind, Defrosch flew up to the rubble and held it up. "Yo, that crane doesn't look like it'll last much longer. I can handle this." The small team was somewhat surprised at Defrosch's sudden appearance, but they were happy with his offer to help. After smashing the rubble up into more manageable pieces, Defrosch waved to the team and carried on into the city, feeling a ki signature he met once before, yet another warrior from the lookout; Liang. He was having a chat with someone, so Defrosch didn't want to interrupt. Instead he came over and helped others to load junk onto the dump trucks.

As he heaved away the chunks of debris and continued his routine of sipping water to follow up with long bursts of work, he wiped a thick layer of sweat from his brow and forehead with a few breaths. His shirt was beginning to stain from the work, but he'd kept up nicely so far. He could already visibly see a difference, and it gave him a nice, warm feeling to help out instead of fight all of the time. Pausing briefly in the middle of lifting another large chunk, a small bolt peaked through his head as he took notice of another nearby energy signature. It was somewhat familiar, and far too high to be one of the civilians around helping with the work. Shaking it off as he turned his head, he finally set eyes on the other warrior, who funnily enough was hard at work too. It surprised him to see someone else show up so soon after he'd gotten started; it was a welcome coincidence, in any case. After the portly fellow had decided to take a break and towel off his face, walking off toward where the cooking was happening, he'd clean up the last bits of his area before moving on to team up with Defrosch. After getting a good look at his face, he could confirm he was one of the warriors that had answered Bing's call to the Saiyan Invasion, and they had met on the Lookout what seemed to be that long time ago. Offering him a kind smile, he reached down near him and began to help clean up near the figure.
''Good to see you again. I've been wondering what everyone else that took part in defending was up to these days, you know? If I had to guess, most of them are probably gonna be up North where the most damage was done. I haven't gotten out much lately to check. So what brings you to the neighborhood?'' Conversation always made work go faster. He made sure not to lose his focus too much, though. There was plenty of work to do and only two ki-utilizing people here to pitch in. It was part of the reason he came here instead of the North; he was confident it was being well taken care of already, and the other cities needed help too. Stopping to finish off his bottle of water at long last, merely a minute passed before another relief worker made rounds with some more. Liang accepted the refreshment with a smile, but he kept finding his eyes drifting over to the cooking station. Beneath his bandanna, he could feel the third eye lazily darting around, obviously not accustomed or appreciative of its new suppressed position. His facial expression changed a little to reflect at the feeling, but he did his best to hide it by turning his head and grabbing some more junk to toss out. He was confident his plan of keeping it covered would work out, after all.

Defrosch waved awkwardly to Liang's greeting. "Good to see me..? Yeah, I'm not getting used to those any time soon. Oooor ever probably, but uh, yeah. I haven't run into many others, honestly. S'mostly regular business with some, I think." He let out a nervous laugh. North Capitol was being taken care of, sure, but one setback in particular contributed further to Defrosch's generally salty attitude. "I was up north a while ago, bumped into a few people- and I'm not exactly sure how to say this but y'know that Saiyan kid Etoru? Well, he's a Super Saiyan now- Which would've been good news under any other circumstance- but he's also gone nuts cause of some demon possession." Defrosch clenched his fists as he bent a broken metal beam into a ball. "At least thats what he implied. True or not, the result is still the same and something's wrong with him at the moment. Figured you should know that. Someone would've told you eventually."
While refreshments were being passed around, Defrosch gestured that he didn't need any, even upon the insisting of those bringing them around. So while Liang tried to hide his discomfort, Defrosch had to deal with explaining that Arcosians don't need this sort of thing as much as others do and pointed out that there are people here that would likely need his apparent share more.
"As for why I'm here? Hm. Dunno really. Either I'm doing this cause I'm bored or I'm doing this because my moral compass dictates it is the best course of action. Not sure which." This was a painfully bad, yet hilarious attempt at seeming aloof and mysterious.

Etoru....Etoru...he was trying to jump start his memory, and it took him a long few moments to recall back in memory exactly who all had been at the Lookout for that meet-up. It seemed so long ago, what with the aftermath of the invasion and all the work that had needed done. His fuzzy memory's imagery finally dialed in on a short conversation from some insulted-looking child among the gathered fighters, and he had remembered now that he mistook the kid for some upstart with a lot to prove. Apparently he was a Super Saiyan now, like many others that had been popping up left and right. So maybe the kid wasn't bluffing after all? That was just crazy; Liang had figured it took some sort of barbarian battle-lust only warmongering Saiyans could claim to spark the transformation, and he actually found it hilarious. He stifled back a laugh, disguising it clumsily as a small snort. If memory served, that was some sort of legendary hallmark of the Saiyan people, and now some kid had gone and broke the barrier. Wonder what the monkeys thought about that? The next part was much more surprising. Demonic...possession? Did he hear that right? A curious, questioning tilt of his head remarked his curiosity. ''Really...? That's really unfortunate. I would go help, but...'' He would gesture to a pack of refugees sharing a few scarce bottles of water, eagerly awaiting their upcoming meal. ''There's so much to do. If he's causing trouble, I doubt he'll be left unchecked. The planet just survived an invasion, after all. In comparison, I don't think we'll all have to meet up like we did to bring him back to his senses. I don't think I could bring myself to fight the kid if I had to... he seemed nice enough and the thought bothers me.''
Liang let out a small, friendly laugh at the Arcosian's last remark. Whatever his reasons, the human was glad that he had some help from another tough warrior to get the place cleaned up. He'd been dipping in and out for days to help where he could, but as he stated earlier, it seemed like most of the aid went to North City, and for good reason. He found it curious he didn't take any offered water, but decided not to question it and press the point. Maybe there was some funky thing about his non-human biology (what even was this guy, anyway?) that let him run on less food and water than a human, or maybe he just thought water was bland and boring. Who knows? After heaving another good chunk of debris into a truck, he clapped the side of the metal frame and the driver let a thumbs up slip out of his window before pulling off to make one of many trips to a dump site. Eyeing a nearby crate to sit on, he sighed in anticipation for the break. Upon landing his posterior on it, though, he caused the lid to slide off and had clumsily trapped himself with his legs and head sticking up and out of the box, his arms and torso buried inside. Frowning with an exasperated breath that seethed with ''not again!'' he'd begin to wiggle until he freed himself, finally taking the posture he wanted.
Maybe all the work over the past couple of days had been getting to him. Trying to resume the conversation as normal and (hopefully) cutting past the awkward clumsy goof, he'd speak up again. ''Weird how everyone just sort of went their separate ways. You'd figure after that big meeting that everyone would try to keep in contact. Then again, I guess there's a lot to do; it makes me wonder who actually decided to help and who all just went about their usual business.'' He'd been forsaking his training for a while now in order to help where he could, but deep down he knew that some people didn't share his sentiments. It made him appreciate the company all the more.

Defrosch gave a light nod. At least Liang didn't freak out and suddenly fly off in a vain search for Etoru. "Yeah, I couldn't make any sense of it, to be honest." What interested Defrosch in this moment was Liang's faith in Earth. What is it with humans and this.. Determination they have? "If I had to guess, Bing is gonna keep an eye on him. I think Etoru is his student? I'm not too sure..."
As expected, Defrosch's attempt at seeming 'too cool' was a massive failure. Perhaps that was for the best, a little lightheartedness never hurt anyone after all. "How long have you been out here anyway? Couple hours?" He looked around the area as the truck drove off, there was some mighty fine work being done out here. 'If its not that, he must've been out here for an entire day... This is some fierce dedication he has...'
"Uhh, you ok there?" The Arcosian raised an eyebrow as he saw Liang fall through a crate, it became readily apparent that he was in need of a break, regardless of how long he could've been working. "Yeah, I suppose its weird. I mean- I'm not one for... Socializing, really. I generally keep to myself..." Defrosch looked over at the other citizens working away, still unsure of how he fit into it all. Their dedication to this was the same as Liang's. None of them showed any signs of giving up. '... What am I doing?'

The question of how long he'd been out here sort of threw him for a loop as he slowly wiggled his way out of his crate-centric conundrum. Finally loosing himself into a comfortable posture, he brought a finger to his chin as his eyes (at least the two visible ones, though the one under the bandanna followed along too) rolled back and to the side as he tried to recall. ''Today? Oh! Yeah. A few hours. Same as yesterday, and the day before that, and...well y'know, to sum it up it's been the better part of two weeks. I'm kinda just taking the whole thing in shifts. Seems like the best way to go about it, after all.'' It was at least nice to hear that Bing was going to watch over the kid, possessed or not. The guy was capable, and he'd seen that proven more than once. If it were true that the kid was going to study under Bing, he'd end up as a real powerhouse for sure. He just hoped that, what with all the life left for experiences to shape the kid, he wouldn't end up turned down a less than righteous path. He was still young himself, but sometimes it was a real roll of the dice to tell how a child was going to turn out in their later years. He'd heard his own master give him the same lecture years ago, expressing his worry at taking on a student.
It would seem he'd not been aware of it, but he'd settled on taking a little break. His hands were covered with dirt, tiny bits of gravel, blisters, and callouses, and he was starting to get a little bit loopy. He re-postured himself on his crate briefly, sipping a bit more water while he continued his conversation with his new company. The guy had explained he wasn't much for socializing, which immediately led Liang to think about his home tucked away in the hills, away from most civilization. Now that he thought about it, he was pretty much the same way. ''I know what you mean there. I actually live in a half-house half-dojo out in the middle of nowhere surrounded by a lot of hills. There's a lot to be said about the comfort of peace and quiet, sometimes. Every now and then though I do find myself walking around South City for one reason or another, but i'd have to say this is a pretty new reason. I really only venture in and out to buy a fancy dinner now and then or frequent a tea shop or two. Seeing all this, though? I didn't even think about it until I was already out the door those days ago.
Liang would follow his new friend's glance to the crowd of Earthlings that were still hard at work. Maybe it was weird to see this side of them? Mostly they just stuck to their everyday, boring lives. Dead-end job here, meeting their quota there, so on and so forth. I guess from an outside perspective it would look a little weird; all of these people in various styles of clothing, all sharing the same exact burden and work. Seeing a lanky, glasses-sporting man in a business suit that looked fresh from the (crumbling) office handing a bunch of rubble to a construction worker must have looked a little off, or at least it did to him. ''Funny. On a day to day basis, I bet most of these people wouldn't have spared a word to each other. As soon as something like this happens, though...it's like instinct, almost. More and more keep showing up every day without anyone asking and they all just help where they can, with everything they've got. It's inspiring. It probably sounds cheesy, but when you see something like this it makes you think that everything might be back to normal in no time; well, at least as close as it can get, anyway.''

Defrosch attempted to actively ignore Liang's crate troubles, in an effort not to laugh at how the human warrior was handling it. "I, uh.. I guess you're so dedicated cuz you live around here?" The Arcosian let out a strained chuckle, it was becoming increasingly obvious to him that he didn't truly understand what Earth meant to people. He had an idea, sure, but it was so... Lacking in comparison to what he has seen from people so far. "Hah, yeah, I typically only go out to see whats going on with food, but..." Defrosch nodded, Liang pretty much hit the nail on the head. "You've got some kinda itch to help out or something, right?"
He looked back out to the crowd, only half paying attention to what Liang was saying, but he caught the gist of it. "But what is normal exactly? Do you think there are those that see the carnage as normal and the peace less so? Well, aside from the obvious selfish maniac space empires.."

Liang offered a relaxed smile and shrug at his company's notion. ''Yeah, I guess being close by does help a lot. It's the easiest place I can help out at a moment's notice; and yeah, it's kind of like that too. I mean I was here fighting off giant monkeys what seems not that long ago, seeing in person all of the destruction around here. It's the closest thing to a home city that I really have, I guess. The other part is just that I think people with strength should use it to help out regular people instead of just stand idly by and train away all the time. I admit i've been pretty lax on my own training, just because there's always so much to do here on a day to day basis. Whenever they're done needing people like me, then i'll feel more comfortable easing back into my old routine.'' The next question was one he knew the answer to, but he just didn't want to admit it. There were actually plenty of people living on Earth that fit the alien's query, usually for two main reasons. On the one hand, impoverished people often became accustomed to chaos. ''Yeah, i'd say that's true too. Earth has its bad apples just like everyone else who prefer to see someone else struggling along rather than really getting by in their own lives. While it's sad, there's even a few of these refugees that are forced into that way of thinking. With all of the crazy stuff happening on Earth lately, there's probably peopled dotted all over each city that are just waiting for their ''normal'' to be taken away from them all over again, or counting their blessings that they're better off than others after conflicts like this. We Humans are really odd like that, I guess. Most of us are always happy to lend someone else a hand, but I guess the typical day to day lifestyle on Earth, in the cities anyway, tends to make people selfish.''[Short post sleepy/sick]

"Ech, that fake moonball trick was one nasty piece of work... Pretty sure I saw those things above each capitol when I managed to get a decent vantage point in the west." Defrosch grumbled, kicking a stone over in mild frustration. "Whats done is done, as harsh as that may sound. Doesn't make anyone less frustrated though eh?"
Defrosch growled, of course every inch of the universe held selfish scumbags by nature, but there was something far more tragic about a fall from grace that is brought upon someone unfortunate enough to be a victim of the naturally vile. While what Liang said is the truth, the human still had his confidence in the people Earth, which allowed Defrosch to simmer down a bit. "A strange place generally harbors strange people, doesn't it?"
I think this is a good place to try end it off in the next posts, what do you think?

As his new friend spoke about the Moonball that had been placed above the Capital, Liang found himself half-attentive; a flashback had began to play through his memory, one of him witnessing the death of Wolfbane during the invasion. After witnessing the warrior falling in battle, he had wasted no time in destroying what was responsible. By time he had, the battle had just about drawn to a close. ''I remember those. I actually blew up the one that was floating over South Capitol, but not before people and defenders alike had already been killed. I regret that I wasn't faster in acting. Maybe things would have turned out differently. More in our favor, I mean. I try and tell myself over and over that nobody could have saw any of that coming, even after the meeting at the Lookout, but I just can't help but to feel guilty. I'd really like to become stronger so I can do everything I can in the future, but right now I do know where i'm needed most. It's a really tough balancing act, I guess.'' Folding his arms casually, he listened to the alien's next quip and smiled.
''You said it best, alright. Earth's the melting pot of the galaxy anymore, bringing the strangest people from the strangest reaches of space and walks of life. As far as strange goes, I think Earth takes the cake by a mile. Sometimes I really do wonder what draws so many people to this place from off-world.'' He'd met plenty of people from all kinds of odd species since he had begun to grow as a fighter. Majins, Androids, Saiyans...something peculiar drew them all to Earth, and it seemed like nobody knew quite what it was. He was thankful to meet each and every one. Even Kaula, the harpy. Coming from him, that was saying a lot. A mere few moments after his response, the meal bell was sounded with a pleasant, calm ring. His eyes (and his third, under his headwear) lightly swiveled over with his head to observe the refugees meeting up to share some good food to keep them going. He knew he didn't want to miss out on that.
''I reckon i'd better get back to it though. After I get some food, i'll probably be here until the late evening. Things are going along well with Earth's fighters helping along the reconstruction, and it won't be too long until i've done all I can. Maybe...just maybe, I can get back to training. After everything that's happened over the past few months, the idea of being a sub-par defender doesn't sit well with me at all.'' He smiled in a friendly manner. After the alien offered his response, Liang would likely make his departure after responding in turn to finish out the day's workload.

"Mhm. Me and a few of the others at West Capitol tricked some Oozaru into firing at it. Not to toot our collective horns or nothing, but that maneuver was pretty slick." Defrosch chuckled sheepishly and looked off to the side. "Of course it wasn't quick enough and they busted up a bunch of stuff.. I'm unsure on the casualties.. Maybe if I was thinking quicker or something, then the moonball would've been busted earlier, just like you. So.." Unsure of what to say next, Defrosch just gave an awkward half-smile. "Maybe the weirdness is Earth's best quality, eh?" Defrosch gave a Liang a friendly nudge to the shoulder, he figured Liang needed a bit of reassurance. "I bet you've got a bit of your own special strangeness too." Of course, the Arcosian was completely unaware of how right he was, considering Liang's third eye. Defrosch looked up as the bell jingled in the distance. Looks like it was break time for everyone now. "Yeah, you go take a break. I can handle some stuff while everyone else is resting. It'll make everything easier in the long run." Even if Liang (or anyone else) protested and insisted that Defrosch should also take a break, he would refuse; stating that it was no big deal and that he could handle it. Arcosian durability and stamina sure does have its uses.

He knew he wasn't alone. That much by itself, with all of his guilt, was enough to lift his spirits. He was thankful, though the Arcosian would likely be able to tell just by looking at him. He'd seemed to perk up slowly, but all at once. His shoulders heightened, his chin raised, and he couldn't help but smile. As he listened to his new friend's own regrets, he nodded briefly, keeping his smile. ''I know how it feels. But hey, we did everything we could. It's not every day a massive alien invasion strikes a planet, after all. We did our best. I did, and i'm sure all of you did too.'' And there it was. That lingering ember in his soul that drove him to always become better and to never stop learning and experiencing had been stoked into a flame, and he couldn't wait until he got back to training once again. He chuckled after a brief pause from the alien's next comment and nudge. As if in response, the Eye beneath his bandanna opened up and slowly darted back and forth before realizing its attempt at sight was futile, and closing once again. He still couldn't get used to that feeling. While he wanted to encourage the Arcosian to share a meal with everyone, it had been made obvious he still had reserves of stamina and then some. It was certainly a respectful quality. As he watched the alien hurriedly depart, he lingered on his crate for a few more moments, hundreds of thoughts racing through his brain. Trying his best to clear his head, he would stand and turn on a heel and make his way to the pushed-together picnic tables arrayed with generous amounts of food. As he sat shoulder to shoulder with countless strangers, he had to admit he enjoyed just feeling like a plain old human. Instead of some chi-flinging super-warrior, he just felt like an average every day person doing his part. A few people recognized him and he enjoyed conversing with all of those around him. He signed the hats of a few kids and spent most of the remaining day mingling with everyone as he helped out, feeling his body begin to tire at last. With another long day's work under his belt, his thoughts began cycling back to the thoughts of training, and all of the people he had fought alongside during the Saiyan conflict; he found himself wondering how much stronger they had all gotten since his change in priorities. With the sun having finally set, he began to make his way home as he floated through the sky at a decent pacing. With his stomach full and his heart warmed, he began thinking of the future once again. All the way to his home out in the middle of nowhere, his mind never did clear up. It wasn't until he'd curled up in his bed and fell asleep that he finally felt some measure of calm.
A calm that would be broken the following morning by an unknown figure. [Exit! Requesting Zeni with human bonus, please! Solo offshoot coming soon!]
