Yuki couldn’t believe the day had come. She looked back at the fallen empire as the people burned it down. Freedom was in the air for all the races that lived on this planet. Happiness seemed to be everywhere as Yuki walked through the crowd of people who had fought with her. Yuki did not feel the same way. Yet, her main goal in life had been complete. Yuki realized it wouldn’t bring her father back. She kept walking until she was away from the cheering crowd. Yuki knew she had to leave soon in order to catch up with Yu. He had already left but Yuki told him she would leave shortly after he did. Yuki felt aches in her body from all the fights she’d been through that day. She decided to sit down.
Yuki looked out into the distance to see the different races of people celebrating as one. “At least this planet is set free,” Yuki said out loud to herself. “So what now?” Yuki asked herself as she looked up into the sky. The gray sky didn’t seem to be so gray anymore. Yuki then closed her eyes and thought of an old memory.
“Dad, is Uncle Hyo coming today? He…He promised he would be here for our birthday,” Yuki said as she started to get disappointed. Yuki’s father stopped cooking and made his way over to Yuki. He picked her up and sat her on his knee as he sat down.
“Sweetie, I don’t think your Uncle Hyo is going to make it this year…” Her father said in a low voice. Yuki started to get teary eyed. She looked at Yu and saw his expression had turned sad too. Yuki then jumped off her father’s knee and ran back to her and Yu’s room. Yuki got back in her bed and burrowed her face into her pillow. He promised though Yuki thought as she tried her best not to cry. Yuki heard Yu climb on her bed next to her. She sat up and looked at him. “Yu, he broke his promise,” Yuki said and then crossed her hands over her chest. Yuki put on a pouty face.
Yu then said, “Well maybe he forgot Yuki; or maybe he got into trouble.” Yuki was still mad even though she considered those could be true reasons why her uncle wasn’t there. “Besides, it’s our birthday, Yuki. This is the day where we get to do what we want and I’m sure dad has presents for us,” Yu said as he tried to cheer his sister up.
Yuki felt her bad mood start to go away. “You’re right, Yu. I’m not going to let him ruin our special day,” Yuki said as she uncrossed her hands from her chest.
“Kids, breakfast is ready!” Yu and Yuki’s father yelled from the kitchen. Yuki jumped out of bed. The two of them raced to see who could get to the kitchen first. As they both entered they both stopped in their tracks. Their Uncle Hyo was standing at the entrance of the backdoor holding gifts for them.
“Happy Birthday twins, I’m sorry I wasn’t here when you woke up,” Hyo said as he placed the gifts on the kitchen table. He made it Yuki thought as she smiled. Yu and Yuki both ran up to their uncle and hugged him at the same time. “I missed you both. Wow you guys are starting to get big,” Hyo replied as stood back and looked at both of them.
“Uncle Hyo, those better be good gifts to make up for you being late,” Yuki said as she picked one up with her name and started to shake it. Uncle Hyo and their father laughed at Yuki’s comment.
“I’m glad those two still act like kids, even though there fighters. You’re doing a great job at raising them,” Hyo said to his brother as he walked over to the stove where he was standing.
“Thank-you, Hyo. The twins look up to you,” Yuki and Yu’s father said as he looked back at his kids. Yu and Yuki were going through the presents and seeing which ones were whose.
The four of them all sat down and ate breakfast together. Yuki noticed how happy everyone was at that moment. These were times she would look around at her small family and see everyone smiling. Yuki then spoke up, “Hyo, you have to promise you’ll come back next year on our birthday again?” Hyo looked over at Yuki.
“Don’t I always every year?” Hyo answered Yuki’s question with a question as he smiled.
The nurse recognized Yuki from the battle and rushed her in to have her ribs checked out. Wounded allies were in the tent being treated but luckily must seem to not be too serious wounds. Yuki was checked on right away. The doctor examined her right side where bruising had started to form. After checking it, he told Yuki that she didn’t break any ribs just had some swelling which would go away within a few hours. Yuki thanked the doctor and left the tent. She decided to walk a bit around. Everyone was being kind to one another. Even the saiyans were being treated with respect. Yuki still got an angry feeling when she saw them but could she really blame a whole race because of one. She didn’t have an answer.
“Hyo, you were right. We were strong enough to win. You always believed in us; just like our father did. Your memory will live on with Yu and me,” Yuki said out loud as she looked over the hill one last time. Out of nowhere fireworks started to go off over the fallen empire. Yuki couldn’t help herself but smile. She realized she had so much more to do in life. Yuki knew she’d end up getting into mischief and have fun doing evil things. She was still an arcosian warrior and needed to help keep her race alive. Don’t worry dad, I’ll never stop fighting Yuki thought as she turned and walked away. As Yuki was walking back a brenchian came over and stopped her.
“Hello Miss Yuki, my name is Chie (wisdom) I was told to bring you to the aircraft landing,” Chie said as she nervously stood in front of Yuki. Chie was shorter then Yuki and had brown hair tied back into a pony tail. She didn’t look like a fighter. Yuki guessed she must have been working in the health aid tent since Chie was wearing a white coat like the other helpers.
Yuki nodded her head and followed behind Chie. The two walked along the tents until the tents stopped and the air craft landing strip came into view. In the distance, Yuki could see a space pod. It looked brand new. It was for one person too.
“The space pod is a gift from all of us. It’s brand new too. Your brother mentioned your pod crashed when you got her so we’d like you to have this,” Chie said as she looked over at the space pod Yuki was staring at.
Yuki felt a bit speechless. “Thank-you,” was all that Yuki could say. I thought I was going to have to steal one or build one from scratch Yuki thought as she smiled.
“I must get back but you and your brother are always welcomed on Planet Pital,” Chie said as she waved to Yuki and headed back to the tents.
Yuki watched Chie leave and then walked over to her space pod. She ran her hand over the shiny space pod. Mine Yuki thought. She opened up the space pod and looked back at the area. “Onto my next adventure,” Yuki said and then she entered her space pod. Everything about it was new and clean. Will make sure to take care of this Yuki thought as she started up the space pod. Yuki typed into the computer her destination. “Back to Earth I go,” Yuki said as she remembered it would take twenty-four hours to get there. She placed her scarf into one of the small compartments. “I’ll have to find Yu again eventually but that shouldn’t be too hard,” Yuki finished off saying as she hit the takeoff countdown to begin. She was kind of excited to go back to Earth. This time she could see more of the planet and not have to rush to leave again. As the countdown finished, the space pod took off into the sky.

(Flashback)
It was Yu and Yuki’s seventh birthday. Yuki remembered waking up to find balloons everywhere in their room. She got up and jumped onto Yu’s bed to wake him up. She then rushed out of the room into the kitchen. Yu was right behind her. Their father was in the kitchen cooking breakfast. Yuki looked around to see if he was there. “Dad, is Uncle Hyo coming today? He…He promised he would be here for our birthday,” Yuki said as she started to get disappointed. (End of Flashback)
Yuki opened her eyes. She saw that she was still in the position she had sat down in. Yuki wiped away the tears that had fallen from her eyes as she thought about her Uncle Hyo. First mom, then dad, and now Hyo Yuki thought. I refuse to lose anyone else Yuki continued to think. She stood up feeling some pain near her rib cage. Yuki decided to get it checked out before leaving. She flew up into the air so she wouldn’t have to walk. Yuki spotted a medical aid tent and landed outside.
