It was dark, very dark in fact. Panic was just on the edge of taking over his mind as he realized he was in stasis in the ship. The time-frame had said almost one hundred years had past since he escaped the destruction of his home. The last thing he remembered was the massive AI system suddenly downloading itself into his mind, flooding him with unusual knowledge and memories that over the decades have melded together.
"I know this is unusual Vanaf, but we are now stuck like this until i can figure a way back out..." An unusual voice filled his head, it wasn't male or female, and had a vaguely monotone pattern of speech. He good see his own creation, the synthesizing of genetic material, the slow iterative process of creating successively more powerful humanoids, which eventually led to his own birth, something he was never told as it wasn't "a part of the mission". "So we're the only ones left?" He spoke out loud as he was not used to speaking to a near omniscient AI. "No in fact quite a few of your descendants escaped in different directions before my sensor feed was destroyed.." The thought that he wasn't the only one left was a strangely relieving one.
"What do i now then? I have no more purpose.." He didn't feel sad about it, simply lost and confused as to what to do now. "Well from what i have hacked from the ship, we've ran out of propulsive power and are now on a collision course with a medium sized planet. One that has very weird energy signatures sprouting from all over its surface." "Yea i can kind of feel it, but doesn't that mean we're already extremely close?" There was a period of silence before the AI quickly cut back on. "Yeaaaahhhh.... We'll it appears were already entering the atmosphere, i'm correcting our heading so you don't die on impact." Vanaf could feel the forces from the thrusters trying to correct the course before the fuel level finally went to 0%.
The silver pod twisted and rolled as it reached the ground, digging a huge trench before a cloud of steam from the cooling system emanated slowly from it. The alien readjusted himself as he was told that the planet had a breathable atmosphere for him. "Here is the deal, we need power, much more power, and if these signatures are anything to go by, then someone here is bound to be teaching, the only guarantee of survival is power." The AI stopped for a second. "Infact im going to do something that will hurt, and it will hurt more than anything you would've thought possible, but it will enable you to become something beyond your current state." The AI then went through it's databases and began to meld itself into Vanafs psyche.
"RRAAAAGHH!!" He screamed and yelled, clutching at his head as his mind was forced to take in thousands of years worth of knowledge and intellect, his DNA adopting and reforming his brain to take the massive strain. He felt like he was going insane from the pain, pain that felt all to real and like a phantom at the same time. "From now on your mission is to survive, make some friends, do something beyond the boring crap we were both created for. We are now one being.." Vanaf sat there staring into the blue sky for what felt like hours until all the information and intellect finally was consolidated and something just... clicked.
His visions seemed sharper, hearing keener, senses all felt much more like he had just came from the lab. He now had a purpose, survival and the need to gain allies, but first he had to find food and water, and the reason why so many beings on this planet felt so powerful compared to him.
