Race Name: Mirrodin [Alien A]
Starting Planet: Earth
Starting Power:
400-800
400-800
Appearance:
Background:
Mirrodin are natives to Earth, and some claim to be more native to the planet than the dominant humans. Living in close-knit communities, the Mirrodin are commonly in their true forms, but when they detect strangers approaching their settlements, they shapechange into a human form in order to avoid raising any suspicion. As a result of this caution, the Mirrodin are a very rare sight to the common person, and communities of such are even more unheard of.
Mirrodin are short, squat, chameleon-like entities that have the ability to shape-change into any humanoid race that they have sufficient time to study and analyze ahead of time. Because of this, Mirrodin settlements are filled to the brim with libraries detailing physiology of multiple species, in order to further their own abilities of shape-changing. However, they are only able to shape-change into humanoids they have seen, they are completely unable to create their own disguises.
Most of the Mirrodin population are peaceful, and find solace in living in autonomous societies without strife. However, some Mirrodins find such life boring and take advantage of their powers in order to become successful thieves or assassins. Such Mirrodins are outcast from the rest of their people and are on their own.
Because of their deceptive nature, Mirrodins make great diplomats or smooth-talkers, but their true form can prove a challenge for other races to accept as trustworthy, or even sentient.
Mirrodin romance is uncommon within the communities. Most reproduction occurs as a necessity to carry on the race, and aren’t due to lust or sexual advances. Mirrodins are hermaphrodites, but are able to mimic certain body parts for disguises or reproductive purposes. Mate relationships are uncommon, and love is a foreign concept for Mirrodins, electing instead to simply mate and go about their lives.
Name Pun Theme(s):
Mirrodin names are based on stealth or assimilation traits. Examples are Mahsk, Krowch, Stalth, Zteel, and Prowle. More old-fashioned Mirrodins name their offspring based on the seasons or months of Earth’s calendar. Examples would be Fallar, Spreeng, or Summor.
Unique Characteristics:
Shape-changing - Mirrodins are able to take the form of any humanoid they have had sufficient time to study and analyze. The Mirrodin’s body grows or shrinks to become identical to that of the person they choose to impersonate. Once learned, their repertoire of available disguises grows. Mirrodins can mimic the speech patterns of those they take the form of if they have heard them speak during their studies. As a result, they are unable to mimic the voice of the dead if there are no audio samples available. They are unable to create appearances on the fly, and must base their disguises on real people. As a result, if the Mirrodin comes into contact with who they based their disguise off of, the disguise is ineffective and they can be seen in their true form by the observer. Changing from their disguise into their true form can happen instantaneously, but vice-versa takes time, and can be interrupted if the Mirrodin’s concentration is disturbed.
Aura of Safety- Mirrodins have found various ways to ensure their own safety and defense through the form of a passive aura, capable of placating hostilities creating a sense of safety around themselves. A Mirrodin has the ability to activate a passive aura that pervades the mind of the people surrounding it, deadening suspicion and making people more likely to accept the Mirrodin’s camouflage as the truth. Players will feel this aura, but whether they succumb to it is up to them.
Safety Shout- By expending 2 Ki Points, a Mirrodin is able to temporarily disable his Aura of Safety in order to cause a calming shockwave in the immediate area, with the Mirrodin at the epicenter. Anyone under 33% of the Mirrodin’s Power Level will succumb to the calming powers that the Mirrodin emits. It will take 2 posts for the Aura of Safety to activate again. Mirrodins use this ability when in danger or stealth is key. This calming ability lasts for one round, and the Mirrodin is able to attack after using this ability.
Transformations:
Symbiotic Puberty - 2x Channeling their internal energy, Mirrodins are able to temporarily grow their bodies not unlike super namekians. Growing up to twice their normal size, Mirrodins automatically drop their disguises when transforming, and instead reveal their true form. Mirrodins have this ability at the start. Physically, the Mirrodin’s limbs become more muscled, but the major “tell” of this transformation is in the Mirrodins voice, which becomes much deeper than before. In addition, the demeanor of the Mirrodin changes, becoming more violent for the duration.
Adolescent Form - x5 [Permanent] This transformation replaces Symbiotic Puberty. A base Power Level of 70,000 is required to achieve this form. The Mirrodin undergoes puberty, and the size of its true form increases to that of a human. Its powers are increased drastically, and it is able to assume disguises in this form. Its voice deepens to that of its prior form.
Burst of Maturity - x14 After reaching 150,000 Power Level, the Adolescent Mirrodin gains this temporary transformation. Instead of growing in size again, this form instead simply increases the power and speed of the user. The Mirrodin physically appears to grow more muscles, and its demeanor becomes more violent.
Adulthood - x27 [Permanent] 250,000 Power Level is required to achieve this form, and it replaces all of the prior forms. Growing taller again, topping out to be around 7 feet tall, they are officially done with their physical growth. When this form is achieved, the Mirrodin’s disguise ability improves, becoming able to create their own disguises, no longer being restricted to taking on the appearances of another.
Burst of Wisdom - x43 When a Mirrodin has reached an unprecedented 400,000 Power Level, it is able to gain this temporary transformation. While no physical changes take place, the Mirrodin temporarily increases its intelligence and wisdom, gaining increased battle tactics and speed.
Elder God - x47 [Permanent] 460,000 Power Level is required to unlock this ultimate form. The Mirrodin’s physical body shrinks down to that of an adolescent human, but its fighting skills are not hampered in the process. The Mirrodin’s brain will massively increase as well, increasing the size of the skull as well. Other Mirrodins are able to differentiate this form from the other, smaller forms because the voice of the Elder God Mirrodin will be unchanged, and as deep as ever.
