During Yuki’s flight to Planet Pital she was able to catch some sleep and do some research on the Planet Pital. The mental hospital held many patients but it also had rooms for visitors to stay in. Yuki tried to hack into the system to see if her brother checked in. Luckily, she was able to get through and saw that Yu Yezi did in fact check in a few days ago. Yes! Yuki exclaimed in her thoughts. A smile came to her face as she sat back looking outside the space pod window. Yuki always enjoyed travelling. She liked going to new places and learning about new planets. This trip wasn’t for luxury though. She had one goal on her mind at the moment.
Yuki looked down at the soft purple scarf. She ran her fingers over the material. The computer than did a BEEP letting Yuki know the space pod was getting ready to land. Yuki had learned that Planet Pital had a few space dock stations. She knew this would be the challenge because she couldn’t find out which one was near the hospital. Yuki decided to just pick a random station and search on foot. As the space pod landed, Yuki wrapped the scarf around her head as to cover her head and face only leaving her eyes visible and then she left the space pod. With my planet at war, I have to be cautious Yuki thought. This planet was much different from Earth and Yuki wasn’t sure what species would be here. The atmosphere didn’t feel as light and the sky wasn’t as pretty as Earth’s. Yuki looked up to see a grayish sky. Feels gloomy here Yuki thought as she walked towards the information station.
A young lady who seemed to look like a hybrid stood behind the station. She looked to be half human half robot. Yuki could tell because although the lady had a human face with short pixie brown hair, both of her arms were clearly made of metal. The lady was on the phone as Yuki approached her. She stuck one finger up as to signal ‘one minute’. Yuki decided to wait patiently as she looked around. I don’t see the hospital Yuki thought. The area seemed to be a little deserted and pretty quiet. Yuki couldn’t help but get a creepy feeling. She noticed on the front of the desk stood a tiny sign that said Katie. Most likely her name Yuki thought.
“How may I help you Miss?” Katie said as she hung up the phone and she caught Yuki’s attention.
“I’m looking for the mental hospital. I was hoping you could tell me where it is,” Yuki asked.
“The hospital is located on the other side of the planet. Honey you landed at the wrong dock station,” Katie said and then she laughed. Yuki frowned as this lady/robot laughed at her.
“What’s so funny?” Yuki asked as she clenched her fist trying to stay calm. I’m not in the mood for games Yuki thought.
The lady stopped laughing and gave Yuki a stern look. “Well you seem to be sane. Why go to the hospital?” The lady asked as she kept staring at Yuki.
“I’m visiting a patient. Can I please just have directions?” Yuki asked as nicely as she could. She had the urge to knock this ‘Katie’ out but knew that probably wasn’t a good idea. Yuki slowly unclenched her fist.
“Here, just follow the map. Good day,” Katie said as she handed Yuki a map and then answered another call. Yuki muttered a thank you and walked away.
Yuki walked along the sidewalk as she tried to figure out the map. She realized Katie wasn’t lying when she said it was on the other side of the planet. Yuki felt her hopes drop as she sat down on a bench nearby. She put her head in her hands trying to think of a plan. “How am I going to get there?” Yuki quietly said to herself. As she held her head, the scarf slipped off Yuki’s head revealing her blondish hair in pigtails. Yuki felt lost and alone again. Come on I’m Yuki Kokonattsu. I’ve done search missions before Yuki tried to motivate herself. Yuki still had her head in her hands when she heard her name being called.
“Yuki. Yuki Kokonattsu, is that you?” said a male voice. Yuki slowly picked her head up realizing her scarf had fallen revealing her identity. She looked up to see an old friend named Appurupai (apple pie). He lived in Yuki and Yu’s neighbor back on their home planet. His skin was a blueish color like hers but he had brown long hair. He was wearing a green jumpsuit with purple boots and purple gloves. Yuki was surprised to see him; last she heard he had run away from his home after he lost his brother when he was seventeen.
“Appurupai, everyone thought you died,” Yuki said as she rewrapped her scarf so it was covering her face again.
“Nope, I just decided it was time to move on besides I was never a good fighter. Anyway, enough about me what are you doing here and where is Yu?” Appurupai said to Yuki as he sat down next to her. He stretched both his legs out.
“He’s here. I’m trying to find him. Hey wait, do you think you could help me get to the mental hospital?” Yuki asked as she pointed it out on the map to Appurupai.
He looked at the map and then he looked at his watch on his right hand, “Sure but we have to get going. I have a date with this hybrid babe in a few hours,” Appurupai said as he stood up and then gave a wink to Yuki.
Yuki sighed very loudly, “Still a ladies man I see,” Yuki said as she stood up shaking her head.
“But this time she might be a keeper. Her name is Katie…” He was saying but Yuki interrupted him with a laugh. Appurupai stared at her.
“Yea I met her. She’s a real keeper,” Yuki said as she started to walk down the sidewalk. “Alright let’s go. I wouldn’t want you to be late,” Yuki continued to say.
For about thirty minutes they both walked through what seemed to be a city. Yuki didn’t really say much and just let Appurupai talk about the smoking hot Hybrid Katie and other things he’s been up to. Yuki was too focused on wanting to get to the hospital as soon as possible. The city had a few tall buildings but the roads were bare. Not many cars were driving around and there weren’t a lot of people in the area. Yuki tried to keep her nerves from getting to creeped out. She didn’t get this feeling on Earth because it was more welcoming. The sidewalk was paved with gravel. The buildings seemed to be old and rusted. Where is everyone? Yuki thought. The sky kept its grayish color too. Yuki was too busy in her thoughts when she realized Appurupai was trying to get her attention.
“Earth to Yuki, anyone home in there,” He said as he poked her arm. Yuki realized they had come to an entrance that led to a slope that went downwards. At the top it said ‘shuttle’ but the lights seem to flicker down the slope.
“Where are we going?” Yuki asked as she stopped at the entrance.
“We’re taking the underground shuttle it’ll get us their much faster than walking and it’ll bring you right to the entrance of the hospital. Follow me.” He said as he started to walk down the long hallway.
Yuki slowly followed him down the tunnel. There was a damp musky smell in the air. Yuki scrunched up her nose. As they reached the bottom it opened up into a subway type area but there was only one track on the left side. There were a few people standing around, most likely waiting for the next shuttle. Yuki stayed on alert. My father always told me not to trust anyway Yuki thought as she looked around. Most of the place was dark except for a few lights. Yuki and Appurupai waited by the track like everyone else.
As the shuttle came into the station it blew a low horn. The shuttle seemed to be covered in mold and the doors opened with a screech sound. Yuki and Appurupai sat away from everyone else towards the back of the shuttle. Yuki looked out the window as the shuttle started to move.
“Is this thing…safe?” Yuki asked not knowing if she would survive to see her brother again.
Appurupai chuckled, “Don’t worry, it may seem out of date but it works fine,” He said. He crossed his arms over his chest. “So how have you been? I mean I know I disappeared right after your dad died. I never saw you guys after that.” He said to Yuki trying to make small talk.
Yuki was busy looking out the window. She didn’t really want to talk about her dad. After he died, people gave sympathy towards her and her brother but Yuki had played it off. She put up a tough face so people couldn’t see how much it really hurt. Only Yu knew about Yuki crying at night sometimes. Yu was the only one who could really tell Yuki’s true feelings. It’s a twin thing Yuki thought. Yu was probably one of the only people left that Yuki could really trust.
“Yuki, I know what really happened…to your dad…” Appurupai continued to say catching Yuki attention again but stopped him. Yuki snapped.
“I already know and I don’t want to talk about my dad,” Yuki said as looked over at him. “I just need to find my brother and train because unlike you I didn’t run away from our people. I stayed even after my father’s death. I care about our race and one day I will be able to fight for them,” Yuki said a little louder than she expected. She looked down the cart to see that no one was paying attention to them anyway. She realized she didn’t mean to be rude but it was the truth. Yuki saw him as a coward. How could you leave your family? Your own blood? They got hurt too Yuki thought as she looked down at her hands.
“I guess that’s what makes us different,” Appurupai said making Yuki look up at him. “You see me as a coward. Well I rather live then be dead. I wouldn't have lasted long in that battle so I left. Started over so to say,” Appurupai said as he stood up. “This is my stop. I have to head back to my place for my date. Just take this shuttle two more stops and then you’ll be at the hospital. You can’t miss it,” He said as he started to walk to the exit doors. “No hard feelings, I know I’m a coward but I’m okay with it,” Appurupai continued to say as he stop to look back at Yuki.
“Hey Appurupai, thanks for your help,” Yuki said and than she waved. Appurupai waved back and then walked off the shuttle when the doors opened. Have a good life with Katie Yuki thought. Yuki placed her feet on the seats opposite of her. She looked down at the map. Yu I should be there soon. Hopefully you haven't gotten in anymore trouble Yuki thought as she looked back at the window. There was only darkness but that’s because she was underground. Yuki looked back inside the shuttle. Three people sat down the cart. Two of them looked to be some type of alien Yuki could not recognize while the other seemed to be another Brenchian.
Yuki started to hum to herself trying to pass time. Luckily the shuttle was actually pretty fast. Before Yuki had the chance to fall asleep her stop approached. Yuki got up and waited by the exit doors. When they finally opened she exited them and looked for the exit of the subway tunnel. Yuki decided to jog up the ramp wanting to be outside in the fresh air. As she came to the opening her lungs became clear and didn’t feel as stuffy anymore from the damp smell down in the shuttle tunnel. A huge sign said MENTAL HOSPITAL with an arrow that pointed straight. Yuki smiled as she walked down the path. Two metal doors slid open letting Yuki enter.
