Well it was now or never. Tenshi couldn't sense energy, so he didn't know how strong his opponent was. But he saw that hand come up and the pink beam fired. He wasn't going to have anymore time to charge his attack. What he had was what he had. All he could do now was hope it was sufficient to knock this alien stupid.
"HAAAAAAAAAAA!" The almost-unstable sphere of green energy exploded forward in a large beam. There were no fancy tricks to it, no bends or spins. It was just a large, concentrated mass of anger and energy looking to stuff a sock in an upstart alien's mouth. It was going to hit the alien's energy attack before it'd hit him. What exactly was going to be the outcome of this, Tenshi did not know.

The outcome of the attack was simple, at least with regards to the impacting of it. Death Beam met... giant green energy wave, with the wave overpowering the beam. But in that brief instant they impacted, the power was just close enough to slow his opponents attack for a heartbeat. It impacted where Boreal had been standing a few moments before, vaporizing a massive crater in the fertile soil.
When it cleared, however, Boreal was standing just on the edge. Smoking. Singed. Damaged. But alive.
And not as hurt as he probably should have been.
But he wasn't there long. While he couldn't move anywhere near as fast as his opponent, he was going to make use of the fact he'd just blown a huge amount of energy at once. So he launched himself forward with his Ki, massive right fist coming around to swing up and towards Tenshi's stomach. At the very least, it wouldn't give his opponent time to cool down.

Tenshi heaved from exertion, one eye partially closed from the effort of the attack. He Had hoped that the attack would blast the alien to bits, or at least knock it out. Instead, he saw its form still standing after the smoke cleared. If he hadn't been struggling to bring his breathing under control, Tenshi might have cursed.
Exerted as he was, he could not hope to avoid the retaliatory attack. His eyes bulged as spittle flew from his mouth. If breathing had been difficult before, it was downright impossible now. The force of the blow was enough to send him tumbling end over end across the ground before he finally skidded to a rather unceremonious stop. The ground was rough and had torn the red shirt to ribbons. His black sleeveless vest had fared little better, being ripped up in several places.
He struggled to bring himself up to his hands and knees, bloodied but not yet beaten. His pride would not let him accept defeat so easily, even after having experienced his foes power firsthand. Tenshi gathered the blood in his mouth and spit it out across the dirt before bringing himself to a shaky stand. "Is that the best you got? What a lousy punch."

What followed was a loud, booming laugh. It was deep enough that it echoed, despite the lack of anything around save a home for it to echo off of. Chest shaking with smug mirth, Boreal raised a finger to wipe an invisible tear from his eye. "Just too good." He says, letting out an exhalation of relief. His opponent had come out the worst in this, but in his mind, that was to be expected.
He still couldn't fathom the issue that came from so seriously underestimating an opponent. It was unlikely he ever would except when it was far too late.
"It's my turn." The beast says, lifting a finger and beginning to charge his own attack. "Dare you to move." Smirking at Tenshi, Boreal opted to simply see how much damage his own ability could do when charged up.
Who knew, truly. This was a whole new form for him.
It could use a good stretch or three.

There wasn't much Tenshi could do just yet. He knew that he still needed just a little more time to gather his energy back up. If he had a hope of surviving this strange encounter, to say nothing of winning it, he'd need to think more tactically. He knew from his own tests just how strong he was. However much it hurt his pride though, Tenshi knew that this alien was now stronger than him. The only advantage the half-Saiyan seemed to have was speed, at least for now.
So he stood there with a grimace on his face while he started thinking out his next move. He shifted his weight to his left leg subtly while taking up a rather defensive stance. He needed more time. "Do all your kind attack random people like this, or is it just you?"

What an odd question. "To be fair, you attacked me first." Unless you counted verbal lashings, in which case he totally started this. But Tenshi didn't exactly have the right of way in this argument, given he'd thrown the first physical blow. Therefore, this wasn't Boreal's fault in the slightest. He was still charging that small purple dot at the end of his index finger. It wasn't growing at all, oddly enough.
"In fairness, I've had a right awful day in which my library was burned down and an old friend killed, so at this point I'm looking to vent. You just so happened to provide the release."
Boreal tilted his head towards the left, blinking, index finger twitching as he thought of something. "Which reminds me."
He fired the beam at Tenshi, aiming to hit him square in the chest for maximum damage - not that he'd charged it fully, he couldn't risk the man using that incredible speed of his.

Tenshi glared at the being and spat another bloody wad onto the dirt. "Bullshit you didn't start this." Had he never been insulted and goaded into the fight, Tenshi would have just finished up the rest of his day tilling dirt and helping the farmers move their heavy equipment around the farm. Instead he was getting his butt handed to him by some arrogant alien with a superiority complex.
But the talking had served his purpose. When the alien fired, Tenshi tensed and reacted. His right foot slammed into the ground, sending him spinning around his left. The beam narrowly avoided his chest, grazing his left shoulder as he came around. He winced when it happened but kept his footing steady. If that had hit him in the chest, it would have gone clean through him. Apparently this alien's definition of 'venting' needed a little rework.
With limited options, Tenshi decided to go all-out. As he finished narrowly avoiding an untimely end, he shifted his weight onto his right leg. This allowed him to propel himself forward using his left. Ki-enhanced muscles fired and sent him shooting forward. He had his arms up like he was going to tackle the larger alien, but at the last moment put his foot against the ground and vanished just out of arm's length.
Instead he had launched himself straight up and brought his hands together. He didn't have the time to charge up the attack this time, so it would have to do as it was. "Ryo-ku-ha!" Smaller and less intense that the charged up version, he nevertheless put as much energy as he could muster into the attack in the hopes of temporarily stunning his opponent. If he failed in that... Tenshi really didn't have a Plan B at this point.

Boreal still wasn't used to this massive speed displayed by the other warrior, but he was getting the picture of how to do it, slowly but surely. It would be the next thing he perfected. Such a useful tool, wasted by such a - where did he go? Suddenly, the figure was above him, and nothing he was going to do was going to get him out of this situation. A blast was charged, Ki focusing into the farmboy's hands.
Part of him still wondered how he got there so quick, and a part of him wondered what a farmboy was doing needing such incredible speed - teleportation? No, teleportation didn't make sense. No one could teleport. Could they?
Confusion etched itself into his brow before the attack landed, leaving a smoking haze that was impossible to see through for what felt like minutes. But, as ever, a wind began to pick up, carrying away the thickest layers before soon nothing was left but a crater and his opponent. An opponent still on his feet, with his left forearm up to cover his face. Said forearm had marks running down it, blood trickling from the wounds left thereon.
"You have to teach me how to do that." Came the jubilant voice. "Seriously, that's incredible." Considering the situation, it would be easy to take the tone as mocking, but Boreal wasn't. He was seriously impressed.

It was only the still simmering rage that kept Tenshi from falling out of the air from incredulity. One moment the alien was mocking him, the next it seemed to be praising him. Of course, Tenshi wasn't at all sure even know that he wasn't being mocked. What he did know for sure though, as he slowly lowered himself to the ground, was that he was out of tricks and things to try. Exhaustion washed over him as if he had been running all out for hours. He grabbed a piece of his shirt in his right hand and fashioned an armband to tie around his upper arm to stem the bleeding.
With that out of the way, he turned his attention back to the alien with a searching, questioning eye. What exactly was going on here? He had no idea anymore of what to expect. How could it go from trying to blast him to bits to complimenting him the next? Was it just playing more mind games with him? At what point could Tenshi draw a line and figure this being out.
He didn't say anything else, just looking at the alien while weighing his options. He couldn't really fight it anymore. That would be fruitless. He could only keep using his energy to burst his speed like that for so long, his energy attacks were basically worthless unless he charged them, and he couldn't really even run. The whole reason the alien had found and goaded him into a fight before was because it had found him out in the middle of nowhere. He wasn't one hundred percent sure, but the alien could have been capable of tracking his energy somehow, which meant that running was useless.
So somehow he had to try and find a way to stick a pin in this whole deal before he had a hole blown in his chest.

Laughing to itself, the brute shifted again, skin glowing a vibrant red as energy channeled along his skin. Slowly, cracks began to appear like a mirror slowly being hit until it shattered. Which is precisely what the alien did - it shattered, and in place of all the pieces that had scattered and evaporated into the wind stood the small, spiked figure that it had been upon arrival. Hands on its hips, it looked to the sky, blinking with a hint of a smile on his face.
Looking around at the farmland, it gave a nod. Apparently it really had been venting.
"Better." Giving a genuine smile to the man in front of him, who looked for all the stars like he was utterly and completely lost, Archive gave another chuckle.
"Go ahead, speak your mind. If I wanted to kill you, I would have. That wasn't even my final form."

"What are you?" It was kind of a blunt question, but it seemed the best place to start to Tenshi. He had no idea what this alien was, other than not human or Saiyan. If he got an answer there, that might illuminate its transformation and how it got to be so incredibly strong. However loathed he was to admit it, Tenshi knew that this being was easily stronger than himself. While it hurt his pride to admit that, it also made him eager. To find a being capable of this kind of strength...
He looked around the farm and saw that their short tussle had had a noticeable impact on the area around the farm. The ground was cracked in several places and a few craters dotted the edge of the land. If he had been a little stronger, or if they had each been on equal footing, they might have done a good bit more damage to the area. He was reaching the limits of what he could do by himself in terms of his power. He'd need someone else, someone just as strong or stronger, to begin pushing himself on to the next levels of power.

"An alien, obviously." Comes the smartass response. "More specifically, we're known as Arcosians, though I've always been partial to the term 'Ice Demons.' Or was it 'Frost Demons'. . . ?" Boreal shook his head. "I can't remember. Anyway, alien, yes. Colloquially known as 'changelings.'" Nodding his head firmly as it to put emphasis on that point, Boreal folded his arms over his chest.
Gone was the deep baritone rumble, replaced by a vaguely shrill voice. While his musculature was obviously masculine, it was hard to tell if the creature actually was or not. "But if I was in an exceptionally good mood I might go for 'stronger than you."

He frowned and resisted the urge to growl in annoyance. This alien, this... Frost Demon, was obviously very used to being the strongest being out there. And that wasn't a contestable fact in this narrow matchup. Maybe he could beat the Arcosian if he stayed in this form, but once he started transforming he rapidly and decisively took the advantage.
"So is there something else you wanted, or can I get back to helping these people?" Tenshi's pride was in tatters right now, and so he could only do what he knew he could do. He'd throw himself into training later. He had promised these people help and he was going to help them, even if it meant enduring the ridicule of a smartass alien.

"No, that's good." Folding his arms tighter over his chest, he looked around at the wreckage for a moment or two more. "One more thing before I go; teleportation or rapid movement?"

Tenshi raised an eyebrow. "No one can teleport. That's not possible." What sort of being thought that it was possible to teleport? One with delusions of grandeur perhaps... Or at least one who believed that anything was possible, nothing was out of hand for their limitless power?
Whatever it was searching for, Tenshi was moving off to start working on the ground. He'd have to figure out a way to repair the damage that had been done. Perhaps he'd have to pulverize the area, till it hard into soft dirt. Perhaps a pond... In the back of his mind though, he was turning over in his head how to begin working on his training. He wasn't going to suffer a second defeat like this again.
