"The Pale Rider is prepped and ready for launch," spoke up one of the techs, walking alongside Cipher as he strode down the halls of the Big Blu, heading for the shuttle bay. On his other side, Porsalynne kept up for him, stride for stride, while their daughter, Charlene, followed close behind him.
"Are you sure about this?" she asked, clearly concerned and worried, "From what I heard, Vegeta isn't exactly the safest of places to go." Cipher couldn't agree with her more. Even though his last visit to Vegeta had been pretty peaceful (with the exception of one particular youngster wanting to pick a fight), he had heard that the government had taken a massive power shift. There was a new queen in charge. Cipher had figured, as a member of the Blue Banner Army, he should head to the planet to pay his respects to the new monarch. If anything, it could open up diplomatic channels with the Saiyan Empire, maybe prevent this new queen from thinking of invading Earth.
But there was another reason for his trip to Vegeta. On two occasions he had had to battle against Oozaru, thankfully only one of them resulted in widespread destruction. He knew there were more Saiyans on Earth, those that would have no qualms with using their abilities to cause pain to the people of Earth. In order to combat it, he needed to refine his combat abilities against the Oozaru, and only the simulator could accomplish so much. What better method to train than to go to their home planet?
Sure, some people would call him crazy, but Cipher was confident in his abilities.
"I'll be fine," he replied, trying to reassure her, "But while I'm gone, I insist the two of you remain here on the Big Blu." Even though he hadn't heard anything about Komoto in the longest time, he was still wary that the mad majin would try another attack on her life, and maybe go after Charlene too. Speaking of which, the small girl was bouncing behind them.
"Can't you take us with you?" She was no doubt eager to see him battling the giant apes of Vegeta, but Cipher would not allow it. He didn't want to risk having his family on a planet full of battle crazy warriors. "I do not want to take you half way across the galaxy to put you in danger. Trust me, this is the safest place for you right now. And don't worry about me, I will be back, safe and sound." Charlene let out a disappointed sigh, but made no further argument. She knew it wouldn't do any good.
The four of them then stepped out into the hanger bay, immediately spotting the ship in question. It was pretty large, capable of holding multiple people, probably three at most. It had a rather sleek design, and like Cipher's attire, was all white. The Blue Banner logo was on the side, though just in a blue outline, most of it was white in colour. Cipher looked over the ship, giving it an approving nod. "This will do very nicely. And you're certain it will get me to Vegeta?"
The soldier nodded. "This will get you there easily enough. Has some weaponry installed in case you get into trouble in transit. This thing flies smooth, fast, and handles like a dream, but it also contains enough comforts to allow you to enjoy your trip. Wouldn't want you getting bored on the way there." Cipher nodded in approval. He really doubted the BBA would give a member of KAOS anything less.
"Very well, we shall launch immediately. Remember, while I'm away, my family remains under your protection." "Of course sir!" There wasn't a soldier in the BBA who wasn't aware of what happened. Porsalynne had developed quite a following amongst the BBA troops, and they were willing to give it their all to protect her. This also applied to their rather rebellious daughter as well.
Porsalynne came in close, giving Cipher a tight hug. "Remain safe my love," she whispered softly. Cipher nodded, giving her a tender kiss before pulling back. He looked over at Charlene, kneeling down to give her a hug. Charlene returned the hug tightly. Though she didn't say it, she was just as concerned for her father's safety as Porsalynne was.
Cipher turned and headed for the ship, stepping up the landing ramp and into the ships' interior. Like the rest of the ship, it was streamlined, white, but held a good degree of comfort. Cipher approved. Maybe after he returned he could take his family out in it for a trip. Just to somewhere not so dangerous. It didn't take him long to find the cockpit, seating himself at the controls. Through the forward windows, Cipher could see the numerous techs preparing for launch. From behind protective glass, he could see Porsalynne and Charlene seeing him off. He gave his family a loving smile as the hanger doors began to open, everyone having gone to a safe location as the atmosphere left the room.
"Big Blu to Pale Rider, you are clear for take off." Came a voice over the intercom. Cipher nodded, even though the speaker couldn't see him. "Acknowledged. Commencing takeoff." He could feel the engines humming to life. Rather quite too. This seemed like a rather good cruising ship than a military vessel. But he didn't doubt that this thing could protect itself in a pinch. Gripping the controls, he could feel the ship lifting off of the gorund, hovering in mid air as the landing gear retracted.
With a push of the thrusters, the ship shot forward, leaving the hanger and the Big Blu behind. Out in the depths of space, he could see the blue earth below, as well as the outside of the flagship of the BBA. "Pale Rider to Big Blu," he spoke over to the radio, "I'll see you all when I return."
And with a small, adventurous smile that nobody saw, Cipher took off into the darkness in space, following the ship's computer towards planet Vegeta.
