The weather outside was sweltering from the incredible heat of the summer. If the windows weren’t closed as the A.C. Zerori stole pumped in coolness from the Freon, she would have long since overheated from the harsh humidity. For her part, she stayed relatively cool as she lounged around in nothing but the black spandex of her undergarments – an origin story for another time, and… well, that was it. Bare, was her chest for all to see if there was anyone there in her apartment to see it. After her run in with Articho and Tomare, two beings of a surprisingly amount of goodness to their hearts, she actually saved up some money to spend on a shitty apartment.
“This fucking… A.C… isn’t doing… shit,” She breathed, huffing in and out heavily as she tried to speak, even if to herself. “Why the fuck did I think tryin’ to live ‘ere was a good idea, eh? Nothin’ but jackasses and a buncha… dicks…” So far gone was she in the heat, her speech had already slurred so much as she spoke with her head thrown over the back of the couch she laid on. It was one of the few things she actually tried to keep nice.
It was three in the afternoon and as such, she had literally nothing she wanted to do. In her mind, she even checked off the list of things she needed to do – most of which usually depicted her stealing something to use right at that moment. When she started to come up short on some of the basic necessities, because cupcakes were obviously a ‘need’ and not a ‘want’, she huffed loudly and sat up. Sweat dripped off of her as she got off the couch to walk over to the shower and turn it on. It’s gonna take a second, she noted knowingly as she leaned against the wall.
After waiting for hot to become cold, she rushed in and held her body protectively from the sensation, “F-f-f-fuck, it f-f-f-feels good but d-d-damn!” Washing up quickly, but not too quickly to waste the water, she finished and walked out. Lashing her hair about to rid it of water, she’d started to dress herself in a simply outfit of the earth’s style; clothing that didn’t really protect as much as gave her freedom of movement. With a baggy pair of pants and a semi-fitting V-neck shirt, paired with some sandals that fit pretty damn good – she was prepared for the day.
A day inside the coolness of a muthah fuckin confection shop! With a lick of her lips, she set out from the apartment with a hop in her step.

[Thread PL 8552; 2138 with Heavy weights(Active); Currently looks to be 10.]
It was a little hot this time around, and in the city it got no better outside. Darkus was in his normal wear, the collar shirt and jeans per the usual. Even that seemed a little much, but he coped with it easy enough. What was he doing here? Well…
“To build such a thing you’d need a lot of money.” Gus was communicating to him silently over an earpiece. It made no sound as it passed the audio cues straight to the ear, which then sends it to the brain. Darkus, dressed as David for his average life, walked the streets with a finger to his ear. Acting like he was scratching it. This was where his communications activated and allowed the two to speak. “-It would take you 3 years on your normal salary to get a gravitron in here workin’. This would also mean you can’t buy food or pay for your sister.” Which is why he had other ideas. The way he replied, well… he just thought of it. Not saying a word verbally back.
“Gus, think finding someone who pays big for an honest job might help? I’ve tried it before, but…” He’d wait for the old guy to respond, turning the corner of the street. He was toting a suitcase with his ‘work’ clothing again, just like last time.
“This again? David, I’m not sure what makes you think you can just win the lottery. Getting a rich friend to help you up? Bah, you’re kiddin’ yourself.” The old man wasn’t going to go against it, but he certainly wasn’t for it.

So the walk toward the shop she had in mind… wasn’t as fast as she thought it to be; in her mind, she had it all mapped out in her head. Take a left out of the apartments, go down about ten blocks, take a right at the string-box-music-thing place, and it should be right around here! However, even as she walked through her mind’s eye over and over again, it would still completely fluster her that she’d somehow gotten lost. All around her people were pacing with purpose toward their next direction but here she was, walking down a street… then stopping… then turning back around again before looking around and shaking her head. I bet I look insane or something…
After a few more minutes of second guessing herself and finally just choosing a direction to go down, she came to an area of town she wasn’t familiar with. Well… not that she was very familiar with the area she lived in now. However, despite not knowing where she was, there was a sign hat read ‘Sweets and Treats’ in some sort of typing with the picture of a plant behind it.
Eye twitching, she walked toward the establishment with the intent to see just what kind of treats or confections a plant could have to offer from the planet. She’d read up on a chocolate and that was one hell of a trip; perhaps this was the same way. Stopping at the doors, she raised a hand to open it but stopped when they opened from the inside. A man with intensely red eyes, like he’d hardly slept, stumbled out before looking at her. Almost as if a joke was told and she didn’t know it, he started laughing at her like she was the most humorous thing on the planet. By this point, she was already confused, so adding the fact that he laughed at her in the mix and she was just about to knock his head from his body.
“Cut the crap, asshole and tell me what’s so funny?” She hissed, a scowl on her face before he just stopped for a moment, seemed to be genuinely scared before bursting into tears of laughter… louder than before.
Thoroughly freaked out, she walked as he tried to drag himself away before reaching for the door again.
Those treats must be good…

“I believe in miracles, Gus. I’m sure there’s bound to be someone out there who can help us.” Darkus thought back to him in a bit of a monologue. “I might just be human, cursed with the gift of a demon lady. I don’t even think I’m good at fighting. All I know is that someone needs to help the lesser ones. It’s ridiculous that with all of these hero types running around that we as a populous still have crime at decent rates. I not only fight for my sister, but I fight for them. Those who want a normal life outside of fighting. Those who can’t fight.” Good thing this whole conversation is mostly in his mind, otherwise some might be giving some funny looks.
“There may be bad in this galaxy, in this entire universe even. But there are the few who could help us as we help them. If no one makes such an offer, then so be it. I’m not greedy. We’ll just let miracles be miracles.” He’d end it on that note and turn again to a more… populated walk. Gus on the other side stayed quiet for a long moment. The older man clearing his throat after several seconds audibly then thinking back to Darkus.
“You’re a naive boy... Reminds me of my youth.” Another story? Darkus groaned as he started, accidently saying it aloud in public. A few of the passersby give him a look per the usual. Nothing more. “I was a warrior much like yourself once. Less of a sneaky bastard though. I was the assault commander of the organization. Guns blazing, I was easily one of the strongest humans on the planet. I’ve lost my touch, but I can still train you boy.” Darkus wasn’t aware that Gus could have been as powerful as he claimed. A new story, huh. “I think you’re ready for it now.”
“Why haven’t you helped my training before beyond instructing?” He’d butt in, passing by a few little goody shops to his left. “Why now just tell me this?”
“You’ve been growing, David. You labored yourself into thinking on technique and strategy rather than brute strength. Patience is a virtue, and now with your ability and talent as an assassin, a crime fighter, you should have worth far beyond just punching holes in planets with your mighty fists. I know last time a powerful guy came through you were in such a pickle. Your techniques and skill did nothing against his rough strength. If you were even half as powerful as he was at that point… You would have won by sheer talent. Hands down.” This story had almost turned into a speech. “I’ll train with you if I have to.”
The sentiment was… unusual for the old man. Darkus sort of thought to himself on it with a strange… bittersweet smile on his face little would understand without knowing the conversation in his head. It was a nice feeling, this was. Gus might have been holding back for years, but now… “You cheeky old man. I’ll fight you next time I see you.”
“That’s the spirit!” Even though the earpiece transmission was silent, that sounded REALLY loud to Darkus. “Have at-” He loses his grip on the transmission as thought was taken elsewhere. Mainly, the other loud guy laughing his head off just a few feet away. Stumbling about like he had waaaaaay too much laughing gas. This lunatic guy made him spot a familiar sight…
“I’ll get back to you, Gus.” He’d think to him again before dropping his hand from his ears. Effectively cutting off communications as casually walked closer to the shop Zerori was entering. Small world, huh?

She’d just about touched the handle of the door when she heard footsteps get closer. Something about eyes on her back or just simply knowing someone was watching her had her hand pause just moments from the door. Looking up, she noticed a tall man that she had to squint her eyes at before she recognized him. With a surprised expression, she dropped her hand from the door completely, “Oh wow, it’s you! Long time no see…” Her voice trailed off, his name caught at the edge of her tongue. Or maybe she didn’t catch his name? After a few moments of awkward silence, she seemed to smile sheepishly, “What was your name again?”
She knew she must have sounded rude, seeing as when they first met, they’d nearly knocked each other down and she yelled at him to watch where he was going. She wouldn’t go as far as to say that it was in her nature to be rude, but that she just didn’t prioritize being polite over getting to the point or the crux of the problem.
As she started to apologize, the door beside her opened up to reveal a large man with a frown on his face and scars all over his body. His skin was dark and his eyes were even darker as he glared down at the woman he stood a good three feet taller than. How did he get out through the door?! She thought in confusion, but didn’t dwell on it when he crossed his arms.
“You’ve been standing in the doorway for quite some time; are you going to buy something or just stand there loitering in suspicion?” By the way he spoke, Zerori could tell he thought she was some sort of leper and raised her hands in her defense.
“Now, hang on there! I’m not sure I’d go in now with that attitude. What kind of sweets shop if this that you don’t greet customers more kindly?” She chastised, rage held tightly within her breast as it boiled softly beneath her. He looked over at her friend and pointed at him.
“He’s the patronage we want; he doesn’t arouse suspicion like you do,” Turning to her friend, Zerori raised and brow before turning back.
“What the fuck does suspicion have to do with buying some fucking cookies and cakes?!”
“Shut your mouth, damn it!” The large man said. He grabbed her shoulder roughly, pulling her towards him to hiss at her, looking around them worriedly. “Pharmaceuticals have been banned since Blue Banners took over…”
“…” Zerori didn’t know what to say. Unknowingly, she was about to walk into an illegal drug confectionary shop. She turned to the man, now remembering his name, “David, right? Well… David… do you want to go in with me?” She made certain to look as uncertain about her question as humanoidly possible.

Zerori had finally noticed him as he got closer. The tall human boy was quite a contrast to the saiyan before him. This time he would keep composure, gripping hard on the handle of the suitcase he held as he stepped closer to the shop doors. “David. I’m David.” A slight smile would come on his face as she started to look apologetic. Right before this massive man came through the door. Sure there were plenty of people who were taller than him, but that was…
He’d stand there for a moment and watch the two go back and forth in conversation. This only gave him a few seconds though, as he was pointed at for being ‘not suspicious’. Ironically enough, he intends on keeping it that way. “U-Uh…” Zerori’s offer was one he didn’t really care much for. In fact, it seemed against his better judgement. Knowing what kind of place this was after all.
“I don’t know…” Darkus glance around a little nervously. Thinking on it with the pause between sentences. “I’ll have to pass, Zerori. I’m not exactly in town to visit a store like this.” He'd shake his head to both the man and Zerori, adjusting the grip on his suitcase.

One couldn’t imagine the amount of relief she felt when David – and thank goodness she got his name right this time – said he really wasn’t interested in going inside. Looking back at the keeper, she had to raise a hand in surrender to him, “Well, that settles it! He’s not goin’ inside, I ain’t goin’ inside! Looks like we’re not payin’ customers, so y’know? I’ll just be on my way!” All of what she said was said so quickly, the owner could only just stare at her in suspicion and confusion before she was already walking off with her sanity in tact as much as possible.
As she did, she winked at David in the hopes that he’d get the hint to follow her before she passed a corner and brought a hand to her face in shame, “What the fuck was I thinking…? Tch, with my stomach…” If he would follow her, she was pretty sure he would since she’d left pretty quickly and her gesture wasn’t all that subtle, she’d address him with a very embarrassed expression. “Hey, sorry about that little ‘incident’ back there. See, I like recreations drugs just as much as the next person but I do it with a plan in mind, and I just wanted some fucking cupcakes, alright? So, like, uhm… let’s keep this between us? Eh?”
Zerori wouldn’t, or rather couldn’t really understand why she was spilling this entire fiasco out to her new company, but if she had to put her finger on anything – it would have to be that he was the first person to ever dance with her. She wasn’t sure if they were more than friend or anything, though, since it was just a mission. Eh, I’ve fucked for less than that… Came her lone, yet dreadfully honest thought, before she finally asked a question that seemed innocent enough. “So, what’s brings ya to this part of town?”

Well, he was already headed that way. So he decided, ‘why not?’. David would seem to fumble the suitcase as he was winked at, his face flushing as he drops it on the ground with a thud. A few coming his way nearly trip over the case. He was quick to pick it back up and rush over next to Zerori. “I’m sorry!” He’d shout on back to the couple before he would eventually just step back into his store.
It was Zerori’s… embarrassed apology that got him to look back down at her. Easily keeping pace with her as they turned the corner. “That’s fine, I won’t tell. I’m not a fan of them myself. The sweets nor the drugs.” The embarrassed red of his own face was still faintly set in his cheeks as he smiled softly. Furthering this notion of embarrassment by using his free hand to rub the other nervously.
“Oh! I am on a business trip. Can’t spare the details because it’s a little private. Rest assured, I have plenty of time to look around.” He’d answer as he glanced on around the buildings around them. “What about you? Were you just out to get cupcakes? Hope that’s not a rude question to ask…” Darkus would chuckle nervously at his attempt of a friendly question. “You live here?”

Not a fan of sweets?! Well… there has to be weird people in the world… She thought when he admitted to not liking sweets or the drugs. Drugs, she could understand since he seemed like a good boy, but sweets? Trying to stop herself from reverting back to the knowledge that someone didn’t like sweets, she noticed that he was red in embarrassment too. It relieved her in a mean way, almost, that he was just as ashamed or flustered as she was. However, now that they were out of the limelight, she needed to recover her composure properly.
“Oh, business? That’s good,” She nodded, gesturing with a hand as she waved it off nonchalantly, “-Oh yeah, I know about business. No need to worry about that because your secret,” She pointed to him in an over exaggerated gesture, “-is safe with me!” She delivered with a wink and her laugh the followed felt more strained and forced than amused by her own joke. She was just… so thrown off her game by this! She shook her head at his question, “Yeah, I was just… hungry, y’know? Gotta eat…” Finally fed up with her ridiculous responses, she brought a hand to her face and leaned against the wall with a depreciating smile before looking at him again.
“In truth, I only live here when I’m in town and even then… it’s not very long. I bounce a lot,” She hoped by maybe being a little honest, not too giving away too much information, her nerves would be less rustled. “I prefer to stay in the safety of the wilderness where it’s quiet and I don’t have to deal with people, but…” She shrugged, “Money well and truly does not grow on trees, I find.” With a final chuckle, she nodded her in a direction, “Come on, I’ll take you to my place for a bit until you have to get ‘back to business’,” She offered, providing impromptu hand quotations.
