”It’s not the same, why isn’t it the fucking same!” Roared Donatsu down at a demon’s corpse. The red reaver had hunted down and eaten another demon and it’s soul, but it just wasn’t enough to sate his hunger. Hundreds had been hunted down and slain by Donatsu’s hand, yet he still needed more. The sistrum did not even matter anymore, reviving was far from his mind. All Donatsu wanted now was a soul strong enough to feed him, someone strong enough to possess such a soul was yet to be seen. So he continued his rampage through the varying biomes of hell, gathering the souls of the victims he laid waste to on his warpath. Eventually Donatsu found himself on a fiery mountain side floating along with his arms crossed. “I’m starving, I hope I run into another infernum cobra. Hell is full of weaklings who’d have thought?” Thought the reaver as he continued, his aura never leaving him in his new found state of hunger sustaining him until he found a suitable meal. Donatsu neared the mountains peak, and was surprised to pick up a large soul reading from his spirit shades. The soul was larger than any Donatsu had came upon thus far, it was exactly what the devil ordered. With hunger and his eyes he blasted to the mountains peak, nothing would prevent him from devouring the source of this power. The shades also informed Donatsu of four other souls surrounding his target. He didn’t care who or what it was, whatever was on this peak was already dead.
Meanwhile atop the mountain
Four winged men stood in a square formation, each manning a corner of a cage. “Listen up angels, HQ just reported back. Evac is on route they’re sending an archangel to pull us out of here. All we can do now is hold our position and keep the prisoner safe.” The four angels nodded their understanding to the angel in front, their spears at the ready and their eyes peeled. They felt a large power coming at them at high speed, but they couldn’t pinpoint where it was coming from. It was closing in dangerously fast, inciting panic in the formation of angels. Only three of the soldiers were able to dodge the giant crimson drill that caved the floor in beneath them, causing the cage falling down on top of Donatsu. The red reaver easily caught the cage and flew upward and past the disoriented angels, only one of the angels caught in the destruction survived, but was stuck under rubble. ”Unhand our prisoner monster, her soul must be examined! Return her to us and we won’t tell the archangel of your transgressions!” Said the angel that led the brigade, his voice wavering in his nervous state. ”If you think I’m scared of my food you’ve got another thing coming scum, in fact after I’m done with her you’re next!” Threatened the starved man, his anger at a boiling point. Nothing would stand between him and the promise of fulfillment.
The girl in the cage had done nothing to deserve any of the things that were happening to her, she had always been a good girl whose innocence was so strong it empowered her kind soul. Her kind heart was so very unique, in that she’d never once done anything with ill intentions in her very short life, which made her soul a delicious treat for those who hungered for a snack of that variety. Donatsu broke open the cage with a burst of ki grabbing the child as she fell into his grasp. He held her up by her arm like a trophy presenting her to the frightened angels. ” Send your strongest souls to me if you want her back, I’ll be waiting in the blood caves.” Donatsu said in an evil tone, goading the angels into his trap. He relished the idea of finding a worthy opponent in hell, and who better than an archangel? So without a word from the reaper or the holy brigade, they parted ways. The girl still in Donatsu’s clutches and the angels headed back to the mountain peak to await reinforcement. Hours passed inside the cave where Donatsu and his captive awaited the feathered warriors. Shaking and scared, the child was convinced this was her end, to die at this demonic man’s hand. It took everything he had not to eat her right then and there, her soul's power never wavering giving off power like a beacon for the angels to follow. ”I swear if I don’t eat her soon I’ll blow a hole straight back to earth.” Donatsu thought to himself, his energy building up to incredible heights from his hunger and blood lust. He wouldn’t have to wait long however as what looked like a knight in shining armor appeared at the cave’s mouth. His armor and weapon shined brilliantly, as if he could vanquish any evil he touched. Donatsu was not intimidated by this, in fact he barely registered him as anything more than a meal. His soul was just as powerful as the child’s making Donatsu’s mouth practically water.
The Archangel stepped further into the cave, his sword shining brilliantly to give him extra sight ”So you are the one who stole this pure soul? I Able , will give you no quarter in this battle, so prepare yourself for yet another demise.” He spoke with an echo, giving his small speech an added holy feel. Donatsu’s face grew a malicious grin as he cracked his neck ”Heh, looks like I’ll be feasting on two worthy souls today. I hope you don’t expect to get out of this alive.” The starved hunter was more than ready to face off against the archangel that threatened his meal. Suddenly a burst of white light surrounded the cave having nowhere else to funnel into and blinding Donatsu, and the child. Donatsu’s shades were vanquished, unable to hold back the holy power. While he was stunned, the archangel rushed into the cave and struck the villain with his long sword, the blessed metal searing Donatsu’s arm. This wounded the warrior badly, his arm being cut down to his bone leaving him a mess on the floor. He cried out in pain as his blood pooled beneath him, a hand using his ki to painfully cauterize his gash. Before the angel could take another action he was halted by a signal he received from the angels left behind, apparently they were being attacked by a pack of demon dogs. He decided to take his leave and nab the girl to complete his mission. Without a word he teleported Donatsu into a dank cave, it was so dark the wounded fighter couldn’t see a thing other than his own red energy. ”That bastard! I’ll find im and teach him to try and steal the crimson lion’s meal!” Said Donatsu, his sudden outburst waking an old enemy that had claimed this cave as a lair.
Hissing and flames could be heard approaching Donatsu, his shades reforming as he stood up to face the threat. A orange light lit the room the reaver had found himself in, the flames from the infernum cobra that entered giving off the light. Donatsu knew it was the same snake he had escaped from after eating it’s egg by the burn marks left from the magma he had blasted it into. ”This isn’t going to end well. For either of us.” Said Donatsu as he floated a bit off the ground charging the little energy he had left up to combat the serpent before him. Flames burst forth from the snake's maw, barely hitting Donatsu’s already injured arm, eliciting a groan of pain from the crimson warrior. Taking all the energy he had left in a last ditch effort for survival, Donatsu fires out a rapid fir cone of hundreds of red ki bolts, eighty percent of them hitting their marks. He smirked thinking he had beaten the snake yet again, his eyes widened as he realized his mistake of dropping his guard. The cobras fiery maw swallowed Donatsu whole burning him as he slid into the snake's stomach. The demonic serpent grinned victoriously lamenting in its revenge. Thought ran through the warrior’s mind as he was sure this was the end of him. Had he came all this way just to be ironically eaten by the monster who he had stolen a child from? What would happen if you died in the afterlife, would he cease to exist as the souls he had eaten did? All these thoughts of the end were halted as his hunger rose to the front of his mind. He found himself a foot away from the serpent’s twisted soul, it’s glow giving Donatsu a way to restore his ki. But more important to Donatsu even in his would be final hour, he only sought to devour the soul to sate his everlasting hunger.
He reached out his hand for the soul, the snakes muscles pulling him deeper and away from his goal. ”No this isn’t how it ends, I will be the strongest soul!” His shades gave off a piercing light and the cave shook around the snake. Power unlike Donatsu ever knew surged through the warrior, his new found strength more then enough to propel himself at the soul ripping it out of the snake's heart.Flames encased the cave walls as the snake imploded from the amounts of ki that were blasted into it after having it’s heart ripped open. Evil energy flowed through the man, his strength growing to new levels. His body restored itself from all the excess spirit force, healing his cuts and burns in an instant. Donatsu was back to full strength with his hunger sated, and he could feel further strength brewing within his own damned soul. His spectral shades reformed and his cloak repaired itself restoring his original look. ”You feel that you feathered filth! The Crimson Reaver is coming for that soul you stole, and I’m taking yours as interest!” Donatsu laughed madly as his crimson ki enveloped him and he flew out of the cave. He could pinpoint where the archangel was just by the sheer size of his and the child’s souls. the reaper began his short journey back to the mountain peak he had ruined, he would have his revenge now that his energy had been restored.
”Your four return home, leave me and the girl for now. She is essential in trapping the soul eater known as The Crimson Lion.” Able spoke in his holy voice until he reached Donatsu’s title. He almost spat his name with disgust, the echo in his voice fading in the hateful moment. ”As you say sir, we’re returning to base.” Said the leader of the angel brigade as they returned to heaven through a golden portal, giving a salute to Able before fading away. The archangel then tied the girl up and awaited his enemy, Able was being paid by someone to put an end to Donatsu. That’s why he had came here, someone Donatsu had killed in life put a bounty on him in hell; one large enough for an archangel to fulfill. Able could sense his target’s enraged spirit approaching, his confidence wavered at his opponents new found strength. ”That cobra should have been strong enough to kill him after his injury, how did he even survive?” Able said not sure what to make of Donatsu’s power.
”Just the soul I was looking for Able, glad to see you didn’t run like a coward. At least you can be of some use in your pathetic existence by feeding me! Crimson bomber!” Shouted Donatsu with a wicked grin on his face as he hurled an explosive ball of destructive energy at Able. The archangel attempted to block it with his righteous shield, but was blown back from the sheer force behind the blast. Able himself took little damage, his shield however was tarnished beyond repair. ” Bastard! I’ll teach you to strike a angel of heaven!” With his holy sword held above his head, Able charged up a beam of brilliant light planning to unleash it at the crimson villain. Donatsu grinned and began solidifying his energy at his front like a shield, planning to take the attack head on. ”When will all of you weaklings learn, even death is just another obstacle for me to drill through! Give me your best shot Able!” Donatsu’s voice was full of confidence, his cocky demeanor returning to him now that his hunger was satisfied. Able scowled at Donatsu and fired off his beam of holy light, the crimson shield taking the hit with relative ease. After the dust died down Donatsu stood with arms folded and not a scratch on him, making Abel furious at the human’s cocky demeanor. Recklessly the archangel dashed at the reaver who defied him, keeping his blade pointed forward like a lance. Donatsu seen this as the perfect time to wield his full power against Abel. ”You’re finished feathered filth! Heaven Piercer!” Roared the lion as his giant ki constructed drill instantaneously formed, spinning at max velocity and drawing on most of his energy.
Abel had no time to think as the massive attack easily overpowered his own, his momentum making him fall right onto the drill point. His angelic armor had been blessed on high levels, but it merely saved the angel from death not the entire attack. The drill demolished his armor ripping a hole right through the holy metal, and gashing Abel almost fatally. With a howl of pain Abel kneeled before Donatsu only strong enough to speak one more sentence before falling unconscious. ”D-don’t kill her, you monster…” Donatsu grinned as he slumped over, the light he gave off forfeiting itself to the darkness of hell. ”To the victor go the spoils, if you were stronger you’d know that welp.” Donatsu spoke with utter disdain as he walked past the being who condemned him to die as many had before. The small child began crying as the hulking crimson man approached her, laughing madly with hunger behind his red shades. She tried to speak but he was already upon her, a hand on her neck lifting her off the ground. ”Your soul is forfeit to me little one.” And with his final words he drew her soul out from her chest, throwing her corpse down the mountainside.
He devoured the soul hastily, enjoying each bite immensely as he felt power surge through him. ”Now usually I’d murder you in an instant Abel. But lucky for you, I still have use for a winged rodent.” He cackled madly as he lifted his unconcious body and flew towards the cave he had slain the cobra.
