Hey guys and gals, its your friendly neighbourhood Tenshi/Serori. I went to a game store today, trying to find something to try to get my girlfriend into/better at roleplaying for D&D, and stumbled across a Pathfinder Adventure Book. I've been leafing through it, and it looks like a tonne of fun. Its called "Rise of the Runelords", and, obviously, runs off the Pathfinder ruleset. If anybody is interested in maybe going through at least a couple parts of Chapter 1 (I've never DM'ed before) to kinda test the water, that'd be fantastic! And, of course, should things work out, its a six chapter campaign, and if anybody wants to stick with it for that long, they're welcome to it! Elsewise, I might have it drop in and out, setting character levels, I have no idea really. Just thought it'd be an interesting thing to do if anyone was interested.
Now, on to the more tricky part. Should I and whomever else go through with this, we'd need some sort of medium through which to roleplay. I know I've personally been referenced to many different sites in the past, but I can't seem to remember any of them. So, I was thinking one of three things. I'll go ahead and list the pros and cons of each to the best that I can think through my currently remarkably giddy brain.
Gmail/Google Plus
In my opinion, rather convoluted, but relatively faster than the next two options. Keeps track of what's happened in the past relatively well, and is a rather large medium through which to play.
Skype
I go back and forth between which I think is more personal to give out to someone, and currently I'm thinking skype. Some people may not want others to have their skype username. Other than that though, its a bit of a larger file on mobile, and eats some computer memory and processing power when running. However, it does do things well, and would allow for voice/video chat if needed.
Proboards/Freeforums
Now, I've tried to do this one before, setting up a forum, and its a bit of work for the DM. However, this is the most efficient in terms of keeping up with anything, and sets turn orders. Character sheets would be on the site, anything we'd done previously easily accessed rather than just lots of scrolling up and down. The biggest con, however, would be doing short actions, outside of combat or any really large scenarios. This could be remedied with a cbox, but then we have the problem of skype and gmail, with having to scroll it up and down, going back to see what so and so said.
If anybody has any alternatives, or wants to mix the two (ie. Skype for quick stuff, else in Freeforums), feel free to add suggestions. And if anybody wants to be part, PM me or just reply here, your preference. I'm always happy to RP with friends on the site, and its a different experience altogether!
((Note: I'm clearly not trying to steal people from the site or anything, just throwing that out there. Being much more careful about the rules now, and I don't want to offend anyone or make anyone mad))
