regardless of the gi system, Toma, it is never said anywhere that a master can't refuse a student. A master has every right to refuse a student, for valid IC reasons.

More importantly, it also is intended to address the issue of metagaming and bias - If someone[master] is being difficult then staff can fall back on the fact that once you've bought the dogi you're set to ultimately get the special, the master may not train you using their enhanced gains(since that requires their active involvement), but you can still flavour how you end up acquiring the ability as fitting, and the master gains the zeni still. This is mostly what I'm refering to, Hyoza. It seems like what Bao says here is basically saying is, "If you buy a Gi, but the master isn't teaching you, staff can force the technique on to you regardless of what the master says." Of course I could be misunderstanding what he says (correct me if I'm wrong), but that's what it seems like, which worries me that staff might be able to override a masters decision of not teaching someone, defeating the purpose of being the master of that school in the first place.

You seem to have ignored the part where you buy the dogi AFTER they agree to train you and you spend time interacting with them. Therefore, Bao's proposal is more about dealing with the situation if a master goes inactive or attempts to lure people into buying Gis and then refuses to train them.

This may be somewhat divergent, admittedly, but I would say that, while I personally like the Gi system, there should probably be a few changes. Maybe have a master post in the person's shop thread after they ask to buy it, saying they agreed to take the student on, to prevent misunderstandings, attempts to force the issue, or a simple lack of activity? Speaking from my own personal experience, I bought the Kami Gi after I met with Scargot, and ICly ended up in the Kami Krew. I will admit, I mainly bought it for the prospect of a future Holy Water, but the Telepathy aspect was a nice bonus as well. Of course, I'm not actually 100% certain that's part of the Gi, but it was one of the two techniques he could teach me, along with Ki sense. Everyone seems to have that already, through.
My point is (TL;DR), I feel like the Gi system makes sense, but a quick alteration could prevent many instances of what Toma's talking about with little inconvience to anyone.
