Now, I've heard that you can only be revived once without the dragon balls. I really don't like the thought of that. I would absolutely hate it if my character died twice, and was told he can't come back to life. Why? Well, I've put tons of time and effort into developing this character, and for all that hard work to go to waste, would piss me off, and I'd probably quit.

Agreed. I do think the time should be extended OOC for how long you have to stay in the Afterlife, allowing you to be revived without the Dragon Balls. But we'll see.
Just an example to better represent here,
Died once- 1 month OOC time.
Died twice- 3 months OOC time.
Died thrice- 5 months OOC time.
(Again, that's an example. It would NOT be something I'd present to the community as a set-in-stone chart or anything.)

Nope, one free revival is good. We already have it easier than any of the canon characters did.
If you didn't make any friends who'd want to bring you back, that's merely unfortunate. Lots of main characters in the original series died and never came back. Raditz, Nappa, Cell, most of Frieza's guys, the whole damn Red Ribbon Army, King Kold, King Piccolo, Master Mutaito...
Basically, be careful with your chars. The whole idea of an RP site is to create an epic, collaborative story. Death needs to have some sense of finality to it, or it becomes pointless.

There is no 'one revive only' rule as far as I am aware edit: though while we're on the topic I encourage everyone to discuss the notion - there are many different ways to come back, so I'm not necessarily against the idea that the 'freeform revive' might have additional restrictions or such.

Hyzoa, I wasn't talking about the free revive. Just the shoki revive.

I know. It's basically free, since all you have to do is RP, which is what this forum is for. Nobody needs to give up a Dragonball wish for it.

We have it easier here than most RP sites when it comes to character deaths, on most every other site if your character dies at all you're SOL time to make a new character in general. So, keep that in mind, the fact that we get one "shoki" revive and whatever the rules will be regarding the Dragon Balls we have it easier than most sites.

I wouldn't want to jump into a saga, or an open D.E because of that. I wouldn't want my character who I've put in a lot of work, to die and never come back. And you can only get 20k P.L transfer's so the rest of your hard earned Pl is just gone. Besides, what's the point of shoki and the afterlife or afterlife tutors if we can only die once. Also, the evil characters will never, ever be revived by the dragon balls. Also, think about the androids, they can't ever die. That's hardly fair to the other races who, would only get 1 revive, and then that's it.

Evil characters in factions may very well be revived by their allies, much as Frieza will be in Resurrection F.

That's a case-by-case issue. If you use them for yourself, rather than bringing back an ally, you're one man down trying to protect yourself after you use the Dragon balls for immortality or whatever.
Being outnumbered is usually the downfall of DBZ villains in the end.

You can't really die if you wish for Immortality, but.... fair point. Still, Androids can't die!

yeah, except if you're alone and immortal, it's very hard to stop people just gathering the Dragon balls and stripping you of your immortality.

Androids are a Machine, it makes sense that they should be allowed to be rebuilt, but there should be a consequence like a PL loss or whatever and if you are so thoroughly destroyed that there isn't even a single important part of you left then you should be considered dead for good and because androids wouldn't have a soul (androids are like Data from Star Trek the androids in DBZ are actually Cyborgs) then they are outright dead, no chance of being brought back.
