During his travels, the machine man, Furosuto, had contemplated his existence. He wasn't programmed with a purpose. Even though he knew this, he couldn't comprehend why. Was he incomplete? Was he destined to rust away? It seemed probable. He had spent days processing the question of why he existed, and in those days he discovered the organic ideal of freedom. To be truly free was to be lacking of anything tying one down with it. For organisms, freedom could never truly exist. They could never be free from each other as war seems to follow their footsteps. They could never be free from the world as necessities such as food and water. The only free moment in an organisms lifetime is its death, where one gets separated from this dimension. Only eternal beings could truly be free, as they are forever.
Furosuto realized he was more free than those organisms that created him. He felt no pain, no suffering. He was emotionally numb. He simply exists. He would never know how it feels to love, to laugh, to hurt, to suffer, etc. He did have one thing organisms had, a hunger for a purposeful lifetime, to experience the unexperienced. It was strange though, to walk among the masses of humans and to be treated as one of them, even though he was nearly completely different.
He kept walking down the sidewalk of West City, through the daily commute to wherever it led to. Not many bumped into him, and the ones who did cursed at him and moved on. However, he did spot a small child, desperately trying to get someone's attention, but noone would give their attention to the pink-haired girl. He had stopped to watch, but this got the attention of the child, who waded through the human sea to get to him.
"Hey Mister! You have to help me. Please come with me!", she said, almost on the verge of tears. Furosuto followed her not out of pity, but simply because she asked him to. She led him to an alleyway, with what seemed to be a lifeless body. The body was a child, male, and seemed a little older than than the girl that led him here. "My brother won't wake up, please help him..", She requested, well.. more like commanded. His scanners picked up no heartbeat, and his scanners were not faulty at the moment. Still, he moved his fingers to check the boy's pulse. There was none.
"The boy has died some fifteen minutes ago.", Android 1 reported with his heavy metallic voice as he stood up, looking down at the little girl, who knelt down and wept at the body of her older sibling. He felt no pity, but everything should have a chance to exist. He looked back down at the boy's body. It had not died from violence, so it must be internal. Perhaps disease. Android 1 scanned deeper into his body and observed his blood stream. A strange virus had made its home inside that body. He scanned the girl as well, and found that she was sick as well.
He wasn't programmed with a way to deal with viruses, but he was familiar with many android schematics and blue prints. He simply had to follow directions. "You are sick as well.", Android 1 stated, placing a gloved hand on her shoulder. "I can fix you. Will you walk with me?", he requested holding his hand out for the girl to hold. The girl nodded and held his hand as the Android led her away from this terrible place.
"What is your name?"
"..Lilly.."
