Karlos has disputed with his father many times before but nothing quite like this, he was sick of his father always downgrading him and telling him he would never become heir to the Ryuzaki household as long as he fought the way he did. Karlos wasn’t going to change though, no matter what he was going to prove to his father that strength meant everything and technique was a way the weak could look strong. One day Karlos confronted his father, the man was getting old it Karlos knew it was his right and the perfect time for him to take over the family Martial Arts school but the old fool was too senile to realize this.
"Get off your pedestal old man, it's time for me to take over. You know I'm strong enough now lose your pride leave!" Karlos announced as he walked into his father’s office. His muscles bulging out of his singlet and a towel over his shoulder, he had just finished his morning training session and had done plenty of thinking. Deciding today was the day he would take his father out of the family business, what better way to do so then to confront the old man.
"You will never become the new head of the house until I die or you learn to fight the way we train the students in the School!" The old man boomed at Karlos. He was always like this and never wanted to budge no matter how many times Karlos tried. "I've told you, you disgrace the family fighting style, you don't use your head and it's bloody big enough you'd probably do some real damage! I've trained you since you were a young lad and you still go against my every word. It doesn't matter how strong you get your technique is terrible and you don't even know how to control your Ki!"
Karlos stepped back, the old man was angry but this wasn't going to stop him he was going to take that throne. "I don't need that shit! I am the strongest man in this city! I could beat everyone in this school with my hand behind my back if I wanted and I don't need your shitty techniques!" Karlos said pointing out to the group of students who were standing outside the door listening in on the conversation, this was not the first time Karlos had confronted his father and the students knew this. They had begun to take bets on whether or not Karlos would be successful each time he went in there.
His father scoffed at him when he made that comment, “You know you can’t beat anyone who has mastered the Ryuzaki family techniques. But I guess you wouldn’t know that since you never train in there! You are scared, you know deep down that you are nothing here, you can’t control your Ki you can’t do ANYTHING!” Karlos’ jaw dropped, his father had never said that to him he knew the students could hear everything and he knew they would be laughing at him there was no other way. It was now or never he was not going to be humiliated like this.
“That’s it! You and me old man, right now in the dojo I will wipe the floor with you!” A smile appeared on Karlos’ face this was it, he was finally going to dethrone his father and finally be recognized as the strongest man in the Ryuzaki School. “I’m not going to fight you.” The smile disappeared from Karlos’ face and a quizzical look to its place. “What do you mean you won’t fight me old man? Are you truly scared of my strength?” He began to laugh trying to make it seem like he was in control of this situation.
“No, fighting you would prove nothing. You are that pig headed and full of yourself that even if I beat you to a pulp you wouldn’t learn anything. Get out of my sight and come back when you want to have a civil talk.” He man went back to his work and ignored Karlos expecting him to just storm off.
Karlos shook his head and turned back towards the door, putting his hand on the door handle he squeezed it so hard it broke off pulling the door back showing that all the students were outside. “1 week old man that is all you have. Meet me in the dojo at noon on the 7th day. Whoever wins gets control of the dojo and the loser… Is banished FOREVER!” He turned to the old man who used to be his father, he was no more now he was his enemy and Karlos loved to destroy his enemies.
The old man still looking at his desk just nodded. “Fine, if this is what you wish I will oblige.” Karlos was pissed off now, slamming the door and tossing aside any of the students in his way. It was time to train, there was no way he was going to lose.
-Later that night at the house-
Karlos had left the school for the week to begin his training, he needed to make his point and this was the only way he could do it. Whilst Karlos had no one to calm him down at this point his father was not in the same boat.
“Abel! What do you mean he left? I can’t believe you are going to banish your own son! You two may have never seen eye to eye but you have to believe that he doesn’t mean anything he says. I mean he is only pig headed because he got it from you! Just because he doesn’t fight the same way you do and believe in…”
“Ingrid listen to me, he doesn’t believe differently, he fights like a kid! He needs to grow up and start thinking differently; the main rule of the Ryuzaki family is that strength isn’t everything! I have drilled that into his mind since he was a small boy. He can’t even do the basics, he may know how to throw a fist or overpower his opponent but that is nothing if the opponent has better techniques than him. OR ANY TECHNIQUES!” His father slammed his fist on the table, he then put his palm over his face. “If beating him and banishing him from the school and the family name is what is needed to open his mind then that is what I will do. Who knows maybe he will find a new master who can train him and help him on his path to becoming great.”
Ingrid got out of her seat and walked over to Abel, putting her arms around him “I know it’s not your fault but sometimes, you are a bit harsh on the boy I mean isn’t he just like you when you were younger?” She kissed him on the cheek and looked him in the eyes. “Yeah I guess but I can’t back down now, it would ruin his pride and he needs to learn a lesson.. Ok? I’m sure one day he will come back.” Ingrid stood up and sat back down in her seat and continued to eat, she swallowed her food and looked back over to Abel. “What if you lose?” She said with a smile, at first Abel was surprised then a smile grew on his face and he began to laugh. “Then I will have done my job as a father and this was just the push he needed.” The two began to laugh into the night.
-In a bar across town-
Karlos sat in the bar having a beer, the bar was pretty full but no one wanted to sit next to the giant man. Karlos was happy, he was feared by all and his strength was not just for show he knew he could beat up anyone in this bar with his pinkie. Chugging the beer he stood up and walked out of the bar, but before he could get out the door an arm rested on his shoulder. “How dare you..” Karlos said turning around ready to beat whoever it was that dared to stop him. Before his right hook could land the person put their hand up and caught his fist, the man was just shorter than Karlos and he didn’t look like he was stronger than Karlos but his grip was incredible..
“Wait… Dan Hibiki you son of a dog” Karlos said putting his arms around the man, “It’s been too long man, what are you doing here?” Dan put his hand on his own shoulders and began to wipe them.
“Come with me Karlos we need to talk.” Dan put his arms around Karlos and began walking out of the bar, the two walked down the street a few blocks and stopped in an alley way.
“What’s up Dan? What do you want to talk about?” Before Karlos had time to move Dan delivered a quick jab to his stomach. Karlos was strong but the jab felt like a hammer, nearly dropping him to his knees. “What was that for you bastard!” Dan then pushed Karlos up against the wall by the collar and got right into his face.
“I’ve known you for years Karlos, we grew up together but I never thought you would do something so stupid!” Dan got his grip back and pushed Karlos against the wall again. “You can’t beat your father and you are going to get yourself banished, then what will you do? Be lost in the world without a cause?”
Karlos put his arm on Dan’ shoulder and pushed him back. “Out of all the people I thought you would believe in me the most. I’m not going to lose to my father, I have a week and in that week I’m going to show him. I’m going to control my Ki and all that shit! I will destroy him at his own game.”
Dan let go of Karlos and stepped back, outstretching his hand. “Not that I don’t believe in you but you are going to need my help.” Karlos smiled and took Dan’ hand in a muscular handshake, “I knew you’d come around.”
-The Next Day-
Karlos walked into the dojo, cracking his neck and his knuckles he hadn’t set foot into his father’s dojo in many years but for the next seven days, it was all his. Walking over to the punching bag like he always did he awaited Dan’ arrival and began to train if he couldn’t train his Ki he could at least get stronger. About an hour passed and Karlos was going at it, he had gone through every station was now warmed up for the training. Dan walked in and sat on the mat in front of Karlos who looked at him quizzically “What are you doing?” Dan looked up at Karlos and signalled for him to join him “Sit, we are training.”
Karlos sat down in front of Dan and looked him in the eyes, he felt incredibly stupid. This wasn’t training this was resting, “Are you trying to get me banished? What kind of training is th-“ Dan raised his hand, he closed his eyes and began to breath. “Do as I tell you and you will find out faster.” Karlos closed his eyes and began to breathe “Good, now cup your hands and try to focus your energy. Like this.” Karlos opened his eyes to watch Dan, he had his eyes closed and his breathing was slow it seemed like he was only focusing on one thing. Suddenly a blue orb began to form in his hands “This is Ki, to be able to use it you must first master how to control it and how to bring it out.”
Karlos studied his friends body movements and did exactly as he did, closing his eyes and slowing down his breathing he began to focus his energy into his hands. After three minutes of intense concentration Karlos snapped. “GAH! This is stupid I am wasting time.” Karlos opened his eye to see a fist flying towards his face, the fist didn’t even hit Karlos and he flew backwards hitting his head on one of the many poles in the dojo.
“Did you feel it? That is how strong your punches can be with Ki so don’t tell me it is a wasteof time.” Dan sat back down and began to meditate. “We aren’t moving on until you do this so you better be prepared to sit here for as long as you need to.” Karlos rubbing his face sat down and began to concentrate again.
-Four Days Later-
Karlos still sitting in the same spot concentrated on trying to control this damn Ki. Four full days of trying to do the simplest of task was incredibly embarrassing for the strongest man in the school and the heir to the Ryuzaki family. The anger was building inside of Karlos and Dan wasn’t going to do anything about it until he learned to control his Ki. “GAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! AAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!” Karlos began to get enraged and was angry with himself and feeling this was stupid and Dan was really against him. Karlos stood up and began to walk away, getting stopped half way out the door by Dan who said, “If you don’t overcome this, you will be banished. I won’t be able to help you after that.”
Turning around Karlos still enraged, and nostrils flared stared down Dan. “Does it look like I need you!” Karlos said marching towards Dan, “I’m stronger than him I don’t need this stupid.. SHIT!” Flailing his right hand towards Dan then at the door suddenly a blue ball of Ki flew out of his hand. Karlos then froze in place, he had done it he finally controlled his Ki. Letting out a grin he looked at Dan who just nodded, Karlos then sat back down and continued his training.
-Night Before the Battle-
“Dan, I couldn’t have done this without you man.” Karlos said putting his arms around Dan, who did the same. “You didn’t need me, but I’m glad I helped you. Now tomorrow, show him who’s boss.” Karlos left the dojo and went to get some rest before the big fight the next day.
Dan stayed behind in the dojo and stood in the middle of the room. “He did well sir.” From behind one of the poles Abel walked around and walked up to Dan. “Good job Dan, you will make an amazing heir. Sadly I can’t forgive him for what he has done but now I know he will be a great fighter.” Dan nodded and bowed, as he walked out.
“My son, you better bring it all tomorrow. I will not be giving up my School, not for you.”
-The Day of the Battle-
Karlos stood at the door of the dojo, the room was full of students who were there to watch the fight of the century to the declaration of the rightful head of the Ryuzaki household. He walked into the dojo with his hands in the air to the sound of silence that filled the room, it seemed as though he was the bad guy in this situation. “Like I care…” He said as he walked into the centre of the dojo and crossed his arms. “Come on out old man, I am ready.” He looked at the faces of all the students, they didn’t seem to happy about this but who were they, Karlos had never seen half of them before. Not that he had been in the dojo very often in the last year.
As he looked around his father walked into the dojo and with it murmurs began to come from the crowd, they even began to clap. It seemed like most of them really hated him, Karlos threw his towel onto the ground and stared at his father. “I’m glad you showed up, I didn’t want to take the title without winning it properly.” Abel smiled and took off his top, showing off his muscles. Karlos hadn’t seen them in a while, in fact he hadn’t seen the old man fight in years, maybe he had underestimated the situation but at least he trained for this battle.
Karlos took off his singlet and stood in the ring with his muscles bulging and his veins bursting out of skin. He was in love with his muscles and felt they gave him the upper hand in any battle, he then began to flex for the crowd. He had this special power that would allow him to entrance almost anyone with his muscles even sometimes being able to hypnotize them. “He then began to chant to the audience whilst flexing making the audience chant with him. Karlos! Karlos! Karlos!” The audience got into it, “Karlos! Karlos Karlos!” Karlos smiled at his father, showing off his pecks, biceps and triceps. “No time for cheap tricks my son, it won’t help you here.”
Karlos stopped his flexing and the audience calmed down and began to look around at each other murmuring. “Gahaha enough playing, let’s do this old man.” He got into his stance and prepared for the battle to begin, his father also got into a stance that seemed incredibly defensive where as Karlos’ stance was offensive. Running towards his father Karlos cocked back his right arm and turned his hand into a fist delivering a right jab towards the old man’s stomach. He was soon stopped by his fathers speed and ability to just touch Karlos’ hand and his hand feels incredibly heavy that it makes Karlos fall to the floor.
Karlos now lying on the ground rolls onto his stomach to see his father standing over him, feeling the embarrassment Karlos quickly spins around with his right foot outstretched which hit his father in the leg forcing him to lose his footing. Karlos then gets up as his father seems to fall over but before he hits the floor he stops in mid-air, “If you could control your Ki, you would be able to do this.” Karlos grins as his father comments on his abilities. “Yes father, I guess I could do that if I could control my Ki like I would if I trained in the Ryuzaki way.” Karlos jumps back and before he lands on the ground he stops in mid-air and chuckles with his arms crossed, “Wouldn’t that be surprising father.” Both the men floated into the air, the battle was going to be much more exciting now.
The two began to fight in the air, exchanging blows and using their Ki to their advantages. But Abel kept the upper hand during the whole battle; Karlos was pretty close until Abel punched him onto the top of the head and he fell down to the ground. Karlos looked up at his father, who floated above him and looked down upon his son, “You think you have won don’t you old man?” Karlos said but little did Abel know, Karlos had a secret trump card up his sleeve. He slowly breathed in as he controlled all his Ki and pushed it into his mouth building it up. He looked around as he saw everyone in the dojo staring at him wondering what he was doing, they were not ready for what he was about to do and there was nothing his father could do unless he wanted the dojo to be destroyed.
“GAAAAHH” Karlos opened his mouth and forced out the beam of blue Ki which had so much destructive power it could blow the entire roof off of the dojo. Abel stood there smirking as the blast flew towards him, at the final moment Abel put out his right hand and stopped the beam from destroying anything and he being stronger than Karlos the beam didn’t harm him at all.
Abel then descended back to the ground and stood in front of Karlos who was still laying still on the ground, he had used up a lot of his Ki with that blast and it was hard enough for him to get up let alone fight anymore. “You are done Karlos, now as you stated you must leave the Ryuzaki house and school. I’m sorry my son but you need to grow up and you can’t do that here.” He outstretched his hand to his son one final time, with which everyone in the dojo began to stand and clap. Karlos looked around to see everyone loved the fight; he took his father’s hand and stood up. “Thank you, maybe one day I will come back. But don’t expect it to be any time soon.”
Karlos turned around and headed for the door of the dojo, “Good bye everyone, you have a good master there. Train hard and one day I hope to meet you in the ring.” Everyone cheered as he walked out, he knew that everything he did today was for the good of the house and himself. Now was Karlos’ time to start his own journey to become the best fighter in the world.
"Get off your pedestal old man, it's time for me to take over. You know I'm strong enough now lose your pride leave!" Karlos announced as he walked into his father’s office.
