Ornee scratched the back of his feathered head. The time patroller who had started to announce the matches had gone missing. It was now the vargas' job to do it, but he knew barely any of these fighters."Uh... In the Middle League we have Kaile and Gira battling in the quarter finals!"
ROUND THREE of the Middle League's Multiversal Tournament has begun! Player Versus Player Matches have a set 48 hour timer for posts. Failing to post in time will result in disqualification. After ten days pass (*10 minutes IC), if a knockout, ring out, and so on is not accomplished, judges will decide a winner. Without further adieu, get to punching each other.

Gira stood in the center of the ring, waiting for her opponent to make their first appearance. She had made it to the quarterfinals. This was where things were going to get interesting. The battles she had fought thus far were already interesting, but now was when the tournament itself was going to get serious. At first, she was simply in this tournament to have a new experience. To fight people from other universes. But now, it was more than that. She still wanted those new experiences, but now, the fire of competition was burning in her gut. She wanted to win. Why, she didn't know. A wish on the Dragon Balls would certainly be nice, but that wasn't why she was hungry for victory. No. If it was anything, it had to be that she finally had a chance to prove her strength. All this time, she felt like she was gaining power just for the sake of it. Now she finally had the opportunity to put it to the test; focus it on the accomplishment of a specific goal. A smile crossed Gira's lips as she stood in the ring, her blood boiling with excitement as she awaited her opponent.

The Quarter Finals... Kaile had come a long way. She was close to achieving her goal, Close to bringing an end to Xylo's rampage and destruction... Closer to being reunited with her Sister whom Xylo so brutally took away. Kaile waited for her name to be called, waited until it was time... And then she'd proceed slowly.
Pulling her blade from it's sheath she made her way into the arena, her eyes belying none of her intentions as she waltzed forward to about 40-50 feet from her opponent. She flipped the blade around and jammed it into the arena, kneeling down to one knee. She wasn't bowing before this person, She looked Saiyan sure but she didn't deserve any special treatment right? Wrong.
She said nothing as her head tilted downwards with her eyes closed, This was the other Kaile's universe... And sure that Heran was a brute but that was his race and he'd proven it. Raising her head she looked up towards Gira "You there, Saiyan, What's your name?"

At last, her opponent for the quarter finals made an appearance. Based on what she looked like, she was a Saiyan too. Gira hadn't faced one of her own kind in this tournament yet. This was going to be a first, and one that she was incredibly excited about! The hybrid watched as the other Saiyan unsheathed a blade and stuck it firmly into the ring. Then Gira blinked once, turning her head slightly to the side as her opponent bowed. Was she bowing before her? Simply taking a knee before the fight to center herself? Gira wasn't sure. Awkwardly, she bowed in greeting to the kneeling Saiyan as she asked the hybrid her name. Straightening up and crossing her arms, she grinned. "I'm Gira. Nice to meet you. What's your name?" Regardless of what Kaile's response was, Gira would slip into her battle stance eagerly. "Let's make this a good fight, okay? May the best Saiyan win!"

Kaile nodded as the Saiyan introduced herself "My name is Kaile." She responded, bringing her blade to her side she looked down at it as the other spoke once more. The best Saiyan huh? Perhaps.... This fight would be interesting. Kaile smiled to herself as she nodded to Gira "May the best Saiyan win indeed." She said, hucking her blade directly at Gira with incredible force and speed. It was aimed directly at Gira's head, meant to impale her. But Kaile wasn't so daft as to think that Gira would be hit by it, even at close proximity, but rather it was meant as a distraction. With it racing towards her head she'd likely have to take her eyes off Kaile for a brief moment, That's when Kaile would vanish and appear behind Gira.
Her hand reached back to catch the blade and Kaile brought her hand forward once more in a downward arc to slash across Gira's back from her shoulder to her waist.

Once their introductions were exchanged, the battle finally began. Kaile first chucked her blade in Gira's direction, aimed right for her head. Turning her head slightly to the side, the sword zoomed right past her. After that, the teen's opponent vanished from view. Figuring the sword was meant as a distraction to set up a sneak attack, Gira quickly turned to her rear just in time to see the other Saiyan aiming to catch her with a quick cut. The teen pivoted out of the way, aiming a sweeping kick at Kaile's leg as she did so, following up with a heavy elbow to the back, then finishing with a palm strike in the same location. A smirk crossed Gira's lips as she and her Saiyan opponent began their clash. Her strategy, the way she moved with such confidence... all of this was indicative of an experienced fighter. She was definitely no amateur. If Gira wanted to have any hope of winning, she had to be smarter. Now was finally her chance to put the skills she had spent the past year sharpening to the test, just like she wanted.

The counter was expected, and Kaile was struck the first time. However as the first blow came down towards her after she was tripped, her blade came upwards and began to glow brightly. The first blow struck the side of the blade, Her own arm pressing against the opposite side to push against the blow. As the palm reared back Kaile smirked "Not yet" She said, bringing the blade backwards and swinging it forth, the Ki being ejected from the blade in a thin beam aimed at severing Gira's arm from her body in an instant.
With that done she knew that either Gira would backoff, be forced to counter the beam, or lose her arm. Kaile used this moment to roll sideways and shove against the ground to push herself away from Gira and gain some distance. She was adept at reading movements, processing those movements quickly and responding with a counter attack all within a few moments... Good. This meant that their fight wasn't going to simply be her wearing her opponent out, and more about actually fighting said opponent.
Sunsteel Strike [n1] - 33% aimed at Giras shoulder with intent to sever her arm.

Gira's counter went fairly well, managing to trip her opponent up, but her follow up attack was blocked by her opponent's blade. As she went in for her palm strike, the glint of the blade and the ki emitting from it gave her a couple of brief milliseconds of warning before Kaile slashed towards the hybrid, a thin beam of ki aimed for her shoulder to sever her arm from her body. Gira reacted quickly, moving with a quick burst of speed to dodge the blade, leaving an afterimage that was struck with the attack instead of her. Using her quick burst of speed to move to Kaile's left flank, Gira crouched down low, taking on her Super Saiyan state in an intense golden eruption the instant before she struck.
The hybrid aimed a powerful kick at Kaile's chin from her crouched position, aiming to send her into the air before moving to her position in an instant and aiming a drop kick at the top of her head to send her back down to the ground. Then, regardless of the outcome, she would smirk at Kaile. "You're not bad at all. This is the fight i've been waiting for. I think, regardless of the outcome, this is gonna be a good fight."

Kaile paid close attention to Gira, Watching everything, from the minute muscle twitchings to the way her body rocked back and forth casually. Everything someone did gave warning for the next move, even the minute foot movements one did subconsciously. Then Gira moved, It was easy enough to see it coming from a distance.
If Kaile had been a few feet closer she might not be able to react in time, but Kaile always tried to keep herself just out of harms reach. Almost like she blurred the space around her, Kaile lifted herself into the air. The tip of her blade pushing off the ground as her head turned upwards, a smirk forming over her lips. The foot came down towards her, Kaile's body twisted as her blade, now gripped by both hands, came upwards to slice at Gira's leg. Gira had two choices, take a potentially deep cut to her leg to slam Kaile into the ground... Or dodge away. Both would do about the same amount of damage, but Kaile's damage was on her back and Gira would be on her leg.

As the returning Patrolman Capper began to make the announcements for the Middle League there was a rapid series of loud slams against the announcement box’s door followed quickly by it being blasted off its hinges followed by muffled shouting.
“NO, GIVE ME THE FUCKIN’ MIC, YOU SUCK AT THIS”
“Alright losers, the winner of this round is GIRA, enjoy losing next round!” |
