Thread PL: 109 145 Heavy Weights equipped! Active PL: 27 286 Gira laid on her back on a park bench, staring up at the clouds and allowing her mind to wander freely. She thought of how far she came since she began her journey to gain the strength she needed to protect what was important to her. While she had come a long way, the half-Saiyan knew she had a long way to go still. It was a little frustrating, but also a little exciting. The stronger she got, the more people she discovered that were even stronger! That Xylo guy especially... the stories of his power were frightening. She heard much about the Mazoku lord on Namek. She wasn't sure if the stories were exaggerated, but she was almost certain that if he decided to attack Earth, they might not be able to stop him. That was especially frightening to her. She thought about her friends and family, the people she wanted to protect and the people who would surely perish if the villain decided to set his sights on their planet. Where she was at now wasn't good enough. She felt as though she was on the precipice of something great. Something she had been working towards for a very long time. The Super Saiyan form was within her reach, but she knew that was only just the beginning. Even once she attained it, she had no delusions about her own power. It would give her a boost, but it wouldn't be enough to take on the likes of Xylo. She heard that the Namekian was powerful enough to slay six Super Saiyans before breakfast. Whether true or not, this claim wasn't comforting. If she didn't do something soon, Kaci would die, her mom would die, Articho would die, Pota would die... all of the people who were important to her. While she thought about her friends, her mind drifted to one she hadn't seen in a long time; Sai. They hadn't spoken in months and Gira hadn't been able to find him. This depressed her a little bit. He was really nice to her and the hybrid thought that they could be good friends (or maybe something more). She thought about the last time they met, when they went on a date at the beach. She wished she could go back and change how she acted. It was her first date and she was more than a little nervous. 'I wonder if I scared him off. I've just never had a guy interested in me before.' Gira frowned as she looked up at the sky. 'What I wouldn't give to change that day.'Sai

It had been a long time since Sai had left his cave, around almost a year. He had left the world for a peaceful and life without stress, he had no idea the amount of change that could occur in the little time that he left. As he began to fly around Earth, he swiftly came across the West Capital. Sai would hover down into the city, as he wore his now normal grey and black gi, looking at the very crowded capitol that stood in front of him now.
During his time in the cave, which he would then call home, many things changed about the young Saiyan Hybrid. Not only did he grow a large beard during his time of no-maintenance, other than showers, but he had become a pacifist. His life began to revolve around meditating and the fact that he wouldn’t take arms except if he had too. Sai would begin to think of all the change he had endured in the past year, as he lived alone with no contact with the outside world at all.
As he kept walking along, he would find 3 park benches laid in a row with a young woman sitting in the second one. Sai truly didn’t want to interact with anyone he didn’t know, despite him not speaking to anyone for months. He sat on another bench, yet still fairly close to the girl. He would then begin to silently meditate, as he normally would in his cave. He had no idea that the girl beside him was the woman of his dreams.

Gira hadn't been relaxing for long when a bearded man sauntered over in her direction, sitting on the bench next to her. Based on what the hybrid could sense, he seemed quite powerful. With a heavy sigh, she sat up, stretching widely with a big yawn. The hybrid rubbed her eyes sleepily. She briefly considered lying back down and taking a nap, but the power of this man interested her. Maybe he'd like to spar? Gira hadn't fought someone of his strength in a long time. They were always much weaker or much stronger than her. While she was much stronger than the power she sensed, this guy was closer to her power than most others she had battled recently. Looking over at the man, that was when she noticed something. He looked... familiar. Very familiar. He kind of reminded her of Sai, but that couldn't be. Their energy felt similar though. It had been so long, Gira could hardly recall how his energy felt. 'Well, time to go answer hunting.'
Scooting over towards the man, she addressed him. "Hey, have we..." She noticed that he was meditating. It was quite rude to interrupt someone while they were doing that, but seeing as how she realized too late, she rephrased the start of her question and then continued. "Pardon me, i'm sorry for interrupting, but have we met before? You look very familiar." Gira gave the man a nervous smile. Unbeknownst to her, she was indeed speaking to Sai. Though she merely suspected. She wasn't entirely sure. The hybrid waited for Sai's response, nervously twiddling her thumbs as she silently hoped that the man wasn't too mad at her for interrupting his meditation in such an abrupt fashion.

Getting interrupted during his meditation was one of the only reasons Sai had left the world for his little cave. With no interruptions, he could meditate as long and as hard as he wanted. He would listen to the woman, then opening his eyes again to look at her swiftly recognizing the face. He would let out a gentle sigh and then answer her questions. “Yes Gira, we have. It’s me, Sai. The guy that took you on a date once.” He said it so casually, in a sort of way that could have made her feel bad. Sai’s intent wasn’t that, but he had become so bad at speaking with others over the course of the year that his social skills had become numbered. He would arrange his legs in a sitting position, from his previous meditating position and then speak to the other hybrid again. “How have you been, beautiful? Long time no see.” He would let out a large smirk as he intended to make her laugh or chuckle. He began to think to himself as he knew that this girl here, was the one for him. Was it destiny that they met again, or simply an occurrence of chance? Gira

Gira was slightly taken aback at the other hybrid's... greeting. If it could be called that. He seemed rather cold and distant. Gira frowned slightly, her feelings just a little bit hurt. 'Oh god, I did mess up, didn't I?' She was about to simply leave Sai to his meditation when he gave her a greeting that she expected from him. Her cheeks went pink at being called beautiful. Though she expected that from Sai, it still wasn't any less embarrassing. She laughed as she greeted him back. "H-H-H-Hi!" Her nervous laugh mixed with her hello. Her smile returned. 'Maybe our date didn't go as bad as I thought?' She felt Sai's power again upon confirmation that he was who she thought he was.
He didn't seem to be any stronger than before. That was a little disappointing, but that was overshadowed at how happy Gira was to see an old friend again. "Where have you been? I've tried looking for you! I, um..." Gira's cheeks turned from pink to bright red. "I kinda missed you. I thought that after you saw me acting stupid that you didn't want to hang out anymore. I'm sorry about that, I just... that was my first date ever, so... I was a little nervous. I've never had a guy interested in me enough to ask me out." That wasn't entirely true. Gira didn't know it, but she was asked out several times in school. She was simply too thick about those sorts of things to really notice. She noticed now, though. In fact, her heart was beating at a million miles an hour. Her palms were getting sweaty too. It was a horrible feeling, but at the same time it was kind of nice. She hadn't felt like that before.

Sai began to touch his beard as he continued to smile at his crush, he would also realize that her face would change from different shades of red as he continued to speak. He would stand as he picked up Gira, despite not getting her permission to. He was pretty much like that, he always had been, he never asked for permission to do things he just did them. He would begin to fly, and while flying he would blush and look down at Gira as he said, "How about we redo that date, even though I loved and enjoyed it." He would fly them to a buffet, as he knew how much Gira loved her food, and he felt that if he made connections about things she told him, he would have a higher chance with her. He really didn't want her to get out of his reach this time, literally. He attempted to grab her hand as he entered the buffet, despite them being clammy, he wouldn't react acting to not notice the fact that they were. Sai would turn around, looking at her, smiling then speaking. "Let's eat, and I'll pay; yeah?"

Gira let out a sound that was sort of like a mix of a surprised squeak and a laugh as Sai suddenly picked her up. Her cheeks felt like they were on fire. As they took flight, Gira simply stayed still in Sai's arms and looked down at the ground. She had never been carried by a guy before. It was kind of a nice change of pace, she had to admit. Even though it made her heart beat several ticks faster. The feeling sort of reminded her of how she felt when she anticipated battle, but battle felt a little different. It was a mix of excitement, adrenaline, and impatience. This felt more like anxiety, happiness, and adrenaline. Though even that didn't sum up how she felt perfectly. It was an alien feeling, one she hadn't felt before.
At Sai asking if she wanted to redo their date, she looked back to him, avoiding meeting his gaze. The hybrid wasn't sure why, but she felt like if their gazes met, she would drop dead right there. "Th-That sounds good. I, um... i'm glad you enjoyed yourself though." When Gira noticed where they were going, her expression changed to one of excitement. 'A buffet!?' Her stomach growled at the thought of row after row of mouthwatering delicacies. Once they landed, Gira would wait for Sai to set her down. She felt like she was a little too stiff with nervousness to hop out of his arms on her own. "You really know me, Sai. I'm starving!" Gira chuckled as she looked up at the man carrying her. After he (presumably) set her down, he attempted to grab her hand.
Gira almost pulled away out of instinct, but stopped herself. 'You have a second chance to not screw this up, so don't screw it up!' She let Sai take her hand and lead her into the buffet. The smell immediately caught the half-Saiyan's attention. She could pick out the individual smells of meat and vegetables. She thought she even smelled a cake baking in the back. Sai offered to pay. That was a good thing, too. Her mom took away her credit card, so she was more than a little strapped for cash. "Thanks! I, uh... I kind of have very little money." Gira chuckled. "I bought a spaceship, so my mom took my credit card away."

As Sai led his date to a free table in the buffet, he would sit her down by pushing the chair out for her and allowing her to sit then pushing her back in gently, then sit down himself. Despite it being a date, Sai simply did not feel comfortable in his skin at the moment. Sai never used to having a beard of any facial hair of sorts and he didn't feel comfortable with Gira looking at him so scruffily. 'What if she thinks poorly of me because I'm not well-groomed? Oh god, I have to shave.'While thinking that to himself he would then tell Gira of what he intended to do. "Hey Gira, you can start eating I have a little errand I just remembered I had to go do. It won't take long I promise." He would blush and smile as he reassured his date that he would be back very soon. He intended to not take longer than 5 minutes, he was fast. Sai would leave the restaurant and as soon as he left the door, he would zoom as fast as he could to a supermarket. He would purchase the essentials to shave off his thick beard, then travel to the supermarket bathrooms where he would commence his shaving. This all was done in a matter of 4 minutes, and by the time he was done at the 5th-minute mark, he was already making his way back to the restaurant. Granted, he was late by a minute, yet he still felt he went fast enough. As he entered the restaurant, this time with no beard, he would swiftly sit back down at his table. Gira

Gira took a seat as her date pulled the chair out for her. "Heh, thanks." She was going to be polite and wait for Sai to get ready to eat when he mentioned he had a brief errand to run and that she could start without him. "Oh, okay. What's--" But then he was gone. Gira shrugged, her anxiety seemingly dying down. She got up from her seat and began to get started on making the first of her many many plates. She would go back and forth to the table, carrying plates piled high with all sorts of food. After she got about three sixteen ounce steaks, two plates piled high with some kind of pork and vegetable dish, a long platter full of grilled salmon, three bowls of ramen, six bowls of rice, and a whole chocolate cake, the hybrid figured that would be enough.
She hadn't eaten a thing all day, so she felt like she was starving. Once the teen took her seat, Sai returned, this time clean shaven! Truth be told, the beard didn't bother her. In fact, she only really noticed it because he didn't have a beard last time they met. "Oh, you shaved." Gira said in a tone that showed no hint of surprise. With that, she began to dig in. "Not comfortable like that? I can see how it might get in the way of eating." Gira said, her mouth full of rice. Before she even swallowed her first bite, she was already getting started on one of her steaks, stabbing it with a fork and tearing off a big chunk. "Mmm! Thish ish shum good shtuff." The teen smiled happily, an expression of bliss on her face as she chewed her mouthful of food, her cheeks puffing out comically as they were stuffed with meat and rice.

The young hybrid couldn’t help but notice that Gira didn’t really care for the difference in his appearance. He just smiled as she continued to eat, as he would then stand up and get a plate of food for himself. He didn’t fill it up all the way, considering his date had not only ate a lot more than what he would ever eat but living in refuge for a year alone had made his want for food or desire rather very low. He never really felt hungry, and he learned how to rid himself of such a feeling. Sai would have a bit of rice, fish, and some curry, then he would sit down in front of Gira smirking. “So Gira, how has life been without me? It’s been a long time, hasn’t it.” It was second-nature for Sai to eat, then speak, and not to speak while chewing since he did consider it fairly rude. Yet for Gira it suited well with her personality, which he loved. Her carelessness was part of her appeal, including the fact that she could be fairly shy at times. After Sai’s long, yet effortless, voyage he had grown dull of talking and a lot less social as he was prior, despite his attempts to regain his prior social and charismatic self. It was true that he had become a sort of grump, despite his young age. When most saw him, they could even consider him to become a sort of master or teacher rather, as he gained wisdom through refuge. Honestly, it was one of Sai’s goals; to own a school and teach. He wanted to train children how to protect themselves yet only to fight when needed, by spreading his ideology to others he hoped that more and more people would grow wise and strong, in efforts to create peace and stability in the universe. As Gira chowed down on her feast, Sai began a conversation with her so that they could catch up. He asked how her life had been, which got her thinking. "Good" wasn't really the right word. "Bad" didn't really fit either. She had goals that were still ongoing, several high points, a few low points. It was life, essentially. The half-Saiyan took some time to chew her food while she thought over her answer. Finally, after swallowing her mouthful of food with a big gulp, she answered. "Life has been... not boring." She smiled before finishing a second bowl of rice, stacking it on top of another bowl she had already finished. "I've been trying to get stronger to protect the things in life that are important." She started on a third bowl of ice after taking another bite of her steak.
"I have gotten stronger, too. A lot stronger, actually. I'm just not strong enough." Gira slowed down with her eating just a bit. She wanted to make sure Sai could understand her. "I dunno how much you've heard about what's been going on. I hadn't heard much about it either until recently. Things outside Earth have been getting dangerous. I just keep thinking about what would happen if we had to deal with something like that." Gira stopped eating as it appeared she was thinking about what she said. "Earth has a lot of strong people defending it. I know that now more than ever. A lot of 'em i'm happy to call my friends, but... I don't know. I stayed back and let the strong people handle it when the Saiyans invaded. I don't want to do that again."
A look of realization crossed Gira's face, her cheeks turning pink. "Oh, i'm sorry. You just asked me a single question and I go off on a monologue. I guess the short version is that i've been okay. Just getting stronger. Still getting stronger." The half-Saiyan began to eat her food again. "How about you? I'd like to know where you've been and what you've been up to."

Sai truly couldn't be asked to listen to everything Gira was telling him, but he took a few things; main points mostly. He continued to listen to the woman go on and on, as he slowly ate his food while attempting to listen. Sai’s attention span was very low, and he couldn’t listen to things for long periods of time without getting distracted or losing attention. He truly didn’t care about the dangers of areas outside of Earth at the moment, he couldn’t have dealt with them either, he was too weak. He intended to make a difference sooner or later, but that time wasn’t now. When Gira asked him what he had been up to, he was reluctant to answer her question. He really didn’t want people to know about what he had done for the past year, but then again this was Gira. She was the only girl he could trust, and the only one he truly had feelings for throughout her life. He would smile as he soon decided that it would be the best to answer after all. Sai would then realize that what originally was a smile turned into him blushing. “Umm… well, it might seem awkward, but I spent a whole year in a cave. To elaborate before you think I’m some caveman, I spent that time meditating and thinking about life. I kind of became a pacifist to an extent, except for the fact that I will only fight when absolutely needed.” He couldn’t look her in her eyes when he finished talking, mostly since he felt embarrassed about what he told her. Sai now knew why he didn’t want anyone to know, it was an embarrassing thing after all. Gira

Gira listened to Sai fill her in on where he had been all this time. As he spoke, the hybrid finished two more bowls of rice and all but one of her steaks, also making a sizable dent in the massive mountain of meat and vegetables on her other plate. "A cave? Why would you stay in a cave? I would've let you stay with me, but my mom probably wouldn't let me bring a strange boy in the house." Gira meant it as a joke, but the thought of living with Sai actually felt kind of nice. Then came a piece of information that intrigued the hybrid, but also disappointed her. "A pacifist?" Gira said the word with a mouthful of rice, turning her head to one side.
"So, you don't like to fight?" The hybrid's tone was one of confusion. She didn't understand someone not liking to fight, least of all a Saiyan hybrid like her and Sai. This disappointed her a little bit. "I was hoping we could spar some time, but I guess that's off the table, huh?" She said with a hint of disappointment in her voice. A smile soon found its way back to her face, though. "Well, I guess that explains the beard. I just thought it was a fashion statement." She chuckled, chewing on a chunk of steak she ripped off with her teeth. While Gira was disappointed that Sai didn't really fight anymore, it was a small disappointment.
Not enough to bring the happy hybrid's mood down for long. Especially today. Today was shaping up to be a good day so far.
