To Hell and Back
Unknown Wasteland, Hell, ??:?? ?M.
((BGM: Jican, the Blue Thunder!))
"Alright, Shibo! Time to wake up and blow this place!"
Shibo groaned as he rolled over on the rock he had made into his "bed". Of course it wasn't comfortable, but he made it his temporary home. "Today's the day, Shibo! I can smell the trees and flowers from here!", Jican exclaimed. They had spent the past couple of months trying to figure out how to escape the fiery inferno known as hell, and today was their only opportunity to escape for a very, VERY long time. Shibo, who had just gotten off of his bed, rubbed his eyes and yawned. "Yep. Today's the *yawn* day. Did you grab all your stuff?", he asked. Jican had to think for a moment, as when he got his body back, the only item he had with him was his special training gi. "Oh! Almost forgot my super special training clothes! You go ahead and get your cape and stuff on, and I'll go grab them.", he said. Shibo nodded as he watched Jican fly over to the tiny cave that he called his room. Jican looked around for his training clothes until he found them balled up in a corner. "Oh THERE you are. I was looking for you, clothes.", he said to himself. But just as he picked them up, he saw something.
((BGM: Silence))
There was a small hole located on the front of his gi. It was roughly the diameter of a baseball, and the tears on the clothing went inwards. Jican froze in fear. He remembered of a time a while ago, when he was hanging out with Shibo. The two of them were headed back to Jican's house from a park that was a few blocks away. Shibo was holding a deflated soccer ball in his left hand, as Jican had kicked the ball one time too many. "Jeez dude, How'd you get so strong?", Shibo had asked. Jican looked at him with one eyebrow arched. "...I'm not strong.", he told him. "I'm just like every other 'Saiyan' guy out there, if not weaker.". Shibo looked to the side, not exactly known what a Saiyan was at the time. "Uh...right.", he had said. Jican then remembered of another time, this time a lot more recently. He was discussing with Shibo how they were going to escape, when Shibo stopped Jican mid-sentence and looked him in the eye. "Jican. I need you to promise me something.", he had said. Jican had nodded slowly. "Jican, if something happens during this whole operation. I need you to promise me this. Find the little shit that sent us here, and send him right here, where he belongs.". Jican had hesitated, but gave Shibo his word.
"Am... I even ready for this?", Jican asked himself. "I-I mean I THINK I am but...to send someone here...forever...". Jican's thought train was interrupted by Shibo asking him if he had found his gi. He quickly replied yes, and tried to prevent himself from thinking about it. "Alright... let's try this thing on.", he said to himself. He started by putting on the gi, which made him almost immediately fall over. It had been awhile since Jican had done any actual training, so he almost had to start from the basics. He proceeded to put on the pants, the gloves, and finally the shoes, until he was wearing his full fighting outfit. He tried walking around for a little bit to get a feel for the weight of them. Since it would be nearly impossible to go through with the plan without fighting, simply carrying the clothes wouldn't be an option. It was essential that he get used to walking in the clothes, since fighting in them would be a huge pain.
After a little while, Jican told Shibo that he was ready. They gave their home in hell one last good bye and flew off. "Alright, so just to make sure we're on the same page, repeat to me the plan again.", Shibo asked while they were flying to their destination. "Alright, SO. A really long time ago something happened with the soul cleaning machines. Don't know much about it, but it caused hell to do this weird thing where portals opened up everywhere. Apparently, most of them were cleaned up but there's one not too far from here. All we have to do is find one of the leftover portals and fly our way there!", Jican said. "You forgot the part where people get involved. They're probably going to be headed for the portal too, so we need to make it before they do. If we don't, then odds are we'll have no choice we gotta fight through em all.", Shibo replied. Jican nodded in agreement. They flew for a couple of hours until they reached their destination.
It was a small purple portal that was just barely big enough to fit Shibo inside of it. There didn't seem to be anyone else around. "Oh my god, we lucked out! Come on Jican, let's head h-". Shibo's exclamations of joy were interrupted by the sound of a ki blast whizzing by the front of this face. The blast went past him and ended up blowing up a part of a nearby hill. "Hm. I missed.". A lady wielding a rather deadly looking sword was hovering a few yards away. From the looks of it, she meant business. "...Damn it.", Shibo muttered to himself. "Jican, stay here. Be prepared to fight if we need to.". Shibo flew up to the lady, who's stare pierced through Shibo's skull. "What the hell do you kids want?", she asked coldly. "Well miss, we were just looking t-". The lady cut off Shibo immediately. "Those halos. Above your heads. You're from heaven, aren't you. And now you're trapped down here, looking for a way out. Well unfortunately, someone must have uh...neglected to tell you.". Shibo frowned, hoping that the plan wasn't busted. "Tell us...what exactly?", he asked.
"Yes, it's true that portals out of the Afterlife pop up once every blue moon. However, these portals are... less than safe. It can only safely transport one person before disappearing. And seeing as I have a mission to complete...".
((BGM: Super Monkey Ball - Storm))
Before Shibo could react, the lady drew her sword and attempted to slice Shibo's arm off. Jican, with his fast reflexes, attempted to stop the sword from hitting his friend by knocking her back, and making a run for the portal with Shibo. However, the weight of his clothing caused him to miss his target by about half a foot, which caused her to sweep kick Jican away. Seeing an opening, Shibo grabbed the lady by the hand and threw her away to give Jican time to recover. By the time everything was said and done, Jican and Shibo were panting to the left of the portal, and the swordswoman was standing on the right. "...You can fight. Impressive.", she said catching her breath. "Why, thank you! You know I haven't actually trained in months myself, but I consider myself a pretty good-". Jican was interrupted by the woman attempting to give Jican's face a makeover with her sword. He barely had enough time to react, but out of instinct he blocked the attacks with his arms. Fortunately for him, his wrist guards protected him from what would have been a loss of two hands.
"...But you lack speed. Discipline. Proper training.", the lady said. She followed her statement with a seemingly infinite amount of sword attacks from the sides. Jican managed to block most of them, but by the time he had repelled the woman with a charge kick to the stomach, his sides were bleeding. "I will ask of you once and only once. Move, or you will be moved.", the lady said after making a rather elegant flip backwards. "Youch dude, are you ok?", Shibo asked. Jican had his eyes focused on the lady, his expression quickly changing from mostly happy to serious. "Absolutely not. That's why I'm gonna keep fighting.", he said. "Just what I wanted to hear.", Shibo replied. "Very well. Prepare to taste steel.", the lady threatened. The battle had begun to get intense. "Attacking from the front won't work.", Jican thought to himself. The lady charged at them, brandishing her sword. "...and attacking from the back will prompt her to counterattack.", Jican thought as he sidestepped to dodge the lady's attack. Just as he anticipated, the lady swung her sword backwards. Jican smirked as he blocked the swordswoman's swing, stunning her. He followed up with a flurry of punches and ended with an elbow to the face, causing her to drop her sword.
"It is rude to hit a lady. A child like you should know that by now.", she said. "You must feel really proud of yourself for making me drop my sword. But what good is a warrior that can't fight without a weapon?", she asked them. Jican gulped, but got into a fighting stance to mimic her own. "Come at me. Full power.", she requested. Jican hesitated for a little bit, but seeing as she wasn't going to attack unless he did, he had no choice but to charge at her with all of his might. However, each punch he did barely affected her. They simply knocked her back an inch or two. "Wh-What is this?", Jican thought to himself. "I-It's like she suddenly tapped into some godlike energy! I haven't even been fighting her at her full power... What kind of a monster is she?". The lady giggled as she picked up Jican by his hair. "Would you like to see a REAL warrior?", she asked. Without giving time for Jican to answer, she tossed her into the air and used her Afterimage technique to intercept Jican and send him flying backwards. She extended her hand out and a green ball of energy formed in her palm. "You will not stop me from living again.", she said. Suddenly, hundreds of smaller energy blasts hit Jican from all directions. When the attack was done, he fell dozens of feet until he crashed onto the floor, only to get back up again.
((BGM: Silence))
"Jican, she's too strong for you. If you wanna sit this one ou-" "N-No! I'll...I'll still fight.", Jican interrupted. He got back up to his feet, not knowing what sort of hell this lady had in store for him. The weight of his clothing was starting to get to him. He could barely take a step forward without feeling excruciating pain. "I'll...I'll beat you...", Jican said to the lady. He trotted towards the lady, each step more painful than the last. The swordswoman chuckled as she rushed Jican with a flurry of punches, with the final punch knocking him back right where he started. "I...I need to go back...", he said. The same thing happened, causing him to get back up and start the process all over again. "You...can't stop me... I...will keep fighting....". This kept happening again and again, until Shibo had to intervene. "Ok, that's it. Jican, you stay still.", he said. Jican raised his hand as high as he could. "...no...I'll fight...", he managed to mutter. "Yes, you will. But not here. It was really nice knowing you, Jican.", he said. Jican looked up at him with blurred vision, trying to say something but the words couldn't come out. "Remember our promise. Do the right thing. Don't let me down.", Shibo said. With that, Shibo charged at the lady, but instead of attacking her, he bounced off of her in the opposite direction. He grabbed Jican and threw him down the portal, sending him back to the realm of the living. "...no...No...NO...", Jican said. The last thing he saw was Shibo giving a thumbs up before the portal turned to nothingness.
"Y-You fool!", the swordswoman yelled while the portal closed. "You could have escaped! And now...And now...you've trapped us both in this INFERNO!". "Yep. And there's nothing either of us can do about it.", he said smirking. "I'll kill you...I'LL TEAR YOU LIMB FOR LIMB...", she exclaimed. She grabbed her blade and pointed it towards Shibo. "Try all you want. You can't kill what's already dead.", Shibo pointed out. "And besides, I had to let Jican go. Personally, I think he's gonna do good- if not great things. And judging on how you've been speaking, I think it's safe to say that that's better than what you had planned.". The lady gritted her teeth. "Well then why not let yourself leave? You two obviously work together. Do you claim to be heroes?", she asked him. "Oh, hell no. I'm just a sidekick. And a friend. Which by the way, you kinda seem to be lacking in both.", he replied. "...I have not the time for 'sidekicks'. The portal is closed. There is no point in me being here anymore.". With that, she flew away. Shibo laid down on the red dirt of hell and sighed. "...Looks like I got pretty bruised up from that fight.", he said examining a number of bruises and cuts all over his body. He looked up into the seemingly infinite yellow sky and chuckled.
"Do good, Jican. I'll see ya later, you dingus."
