"Woah! So this is Kale's new home, eh?"
A pair of Saiyans, male and female, stood ten yards from the medium-sized house that rested in a clearing of the Bamboo Forest. The two took the time to observe the home and the surrounding area. They noted that some household chores must have recently been finished due to the freshly-chopped pile of firewood next to the bubbling stream on their left.
"It looks like Kale was busy," the female commented. A soft smile would then appear on her face. "It's just like our son to be responsible and take care of the chores while he cares for his wife. He's just like you, Lureek."
"You mean he's just like /us/, Kressu," Lureek retorted in a coy tone of voice. "And his wife's been getting stronger. Are we sure that she doesn't have some Saiyan blood in her?" he smirked, finding his joke to be amusing. At the very least, it brought a slight giggle from Kressu. Their friendly banter would be interrupted by gurgly growls from their cores. The tell-tale sign of a hungry Saiyan. "We did remember to tell Kale that we would be arriving today, yeah?" Lureek asked, looking down at his tummy while he patted it in a futile attempt to calm it down.
"Of course," Kressu responded with an affectionate chuckle. "What kind of mother do you think I am?" the female Saiyan stuck her tongue out playfully at her husband with a wink.
This prompted Lureek to grab his lover by the waist and pull her close to him and plant a kiss on her forehead. "A very incredible mother," he responded lovingly.
Kressu returned the romantic gesture, placing her lips onto Lureek's left cheek. "Let's go knock on the door before our stomachs decide to eat themselves."
Currently, within the house, Kale was preparing a big tasty meal for his parents. His father was the primary cook in the family, but Kale's recent endeavors in the kitchen were likely to threaten the older Saiyan's unspoken title. Ever since that day he made the decision to stop by the Saiyan-Zoan hybrid's food stand in Satan City a year ago, Kale was inspired to perfect the culinary trade. He remembered it vividly while he attempted to recreate at least his rendition of the recipe.
First came the Chow Mein noodles. There was enough to feed a small village! The Saiyan would then plop an assortment of meat strips, including chicken leg and breast meat, pork, and beef. In a separate large wok, Kale was preparing fried rice with pieces of carrots and peas. He admired how the golden grains were turning into a lovely color of caramel brown. WIth the rice nearing completion, Kale set the stovetop burner to a low heat.
The Saiyan returned his attention to the noodle dish, using a ladle to cascade a diversity of sauces over the cooking noodles and meat. First ginger, then garlic, followed by sugar water, salt water, and finally oil, wine, oyster sauce, and Mongolian sauce. As each of the sauces were added, the noodles and meat began to brown to perfection.
"Don't want to forget the vegetables," Kale commented while he diced up some white cabbage, red cabbage, and onions before tossing them into the big wok. The Saiyan felt incredibly satisfied with his work. He then stirred the mixture with his label to prevent any of the food from getting burned. "Almost done," he mused with a grin. It was at that moment when he sensed two familiar natural energies. Feeling their presence sent a warmth throughout his body while his smile brightened.
Kale quickened his pace and prepared three hefty courses of the chow mein and rice, one for each of the Saiyans. He put the plates on the table before making his way to the front door. With a bright smile, he pulled it open to greet his parents. And just in time, as Lureek stood there with his hand poised to knock!
"Well, look who it is!" Lureek chimed as he offered a sheepish laugh. "How've you been, Kale? Your mother and I were just saying how gorgeous this home looks. It's about time you invited your mom and me over!"
"Mom, dad! It's good to see you guys!" Kale outstretched his arms as an offer for a hug, which the two readily accepted. The three Earth Saiyans cherished the moment that they were sharing together. Inevitably, it had to end. "How are you guys?"
"We're doing well!" Kressu responded with warmth. "We're kind of hungry, though."
Lureek scoffed jokingly. "Kind of hungry? We could eat a zoo!"
Kale stepped aside to reveal the plates of food on the kitchen table. "Ha, I thought you might be. That's why I prepared a big meal for each of us. Come on, let's dig in!"
The scene that would follow entailed each of the Saiyans making their conquests on the food before them. Luckily, the trio was able to find a balance between scarfing down meals and enjoying them to the fullest thanks to their experiences in life. It did not take long before the intricately prepared dishes were nothing more than straggling bits of food that somehow managed to escape the hunger of the Saiyan family.
Kale, Lureek, and Kressu relaxed in their dining chairs with looks of contentment on each of their faces. Lureek heartily patted his stomach three times. "Son, you've outdone yourself! I think I can safely say you're a better cook than me!"
Lureek's words of praise made Kale grin brilliantly. "I wouldn't go that far. You're the best cook that I know, and that's never gonna change in my opinion. I did learn from you, after all." He glanced at his mother. "Mom, who do you think makes the better food?"
Kressu smirked when she was asked the question. "I dunno," she admitted with a smirk, "I'd say it's a close tie between the two of you."
The three Saiyans chuckled in unison. When the laughter died down, Kale eyed his folks with a gleam in his eye. "What do you two say to some training tomorrow morning?"
"That sounds like a plan," Kressu replied. "We could use some relaxation."
The smile on Kale's face widened. "Alright, it's a deal. Tomorrow morning in my gravity chamber."
